WTB: Broken Evo Shift - EVO Shift 4G General

Looking to buy a shift with a broken screen or broken sliding mechanizim, basically i need the back half of the phone to be operational and not ESN locked, i can offer a price depending on the condition of the unit. Thanks my fellow shifters, i really posted this here in hopes one of you guys had a bad unit i could rip apart and make mines work.

Why not use TEP? You can enroll until the end of the month and it will cost you only $100 for a new phone:

Yeah no kidding. Asurion will totally bounce you

Sprint now requires 6 months of insurance coverage before 1st claim on a NON brand new unit can be claimed. $8 a month for 6 months ($48) + the $100.
You might as well buy a good used one on craigslist.

Anyone Returned EVO 4G to Radio Shack...

and closed the contract?
I bought EVO 4g from RS on a launch day. I have been playing with this phone/ Android for some time now.
For whatever reasons I have decided to return it.
My question is, does RS charge restocking fee? Somewhere on this forum I read that one guy paid $35 restocking fee. I thought there is absolutely no charge to try this phone on Sprint.
So, has anyone returned it to RS after purchasing it from it?
I know many ppl like their EVOs and I too think its a very good phone but just wanted to check before I go to RS today.
Nobody paid a $35 restocking fee at a Radioshack. You can return it within 30 days without a hassle.
Thanks. I definitely saw someone mentioned about $35 fee but I could not find that thread. Anyways, thanks for your reply.
All I hear are owls. {hooo hooo!}
I am in a particularly good position to answer this. i work there. yes you can.
A BUNCH OF HTC EVO ARE DYING OUT OF THE BOX IN RADIOSHACK STORES I GOT 2, ONE BRICKED AND THEY ARE TELLING ME ITS GOING TO TAKE 3 WEEKS AT LEAST TO GET A NEW ONE. THERE IS A BAD BATCH OF HTC EVO.

Thanks for the response. I am just coming back from RS. I returned my EVO and canceled my contract with sprint.
One thing to note for anyone who bought from RS. They DO NOT refund you the gift card money. They just give you another gift card for $50. I never never shop at RS or Best Buy for that matter. I did not like this policy. Anyway it could be my mistake that I did not see that rule when I reserved EVO. Finally, I reserved iPhone 4 with that gift card. I won't waste my money on their overpriced accessories. Anyway, I am going to buy iPhone 4.
Lesson learned here. IF you really want to try out worry free any Phone from Sprint/ATT etc. DO NOT buy from these resellers. Buy directly from Sprint/ATT etc. Then you don't have to worry about these gift cards that force you to purchase something from those places (RS/BestBuy). Electronics items are cheaper online if you are not in a hurry.

[Q] How much for a mytouch 4g?

Ok so here is whats going on..
I live in Toronto and is using mobilicity(same frequency as T-mobile)
I currently have the mytouch 3g slide, i got it off the flee market.
I loved the phone so much and i have been reading about the mytouch 4g that i want to upgrade.
Now my question is where is the cheapest place to get a Brand New mytouch 4g unlocked?
I know T-mobile sometimes unlocks their phones for free but my question with them is that on their site i cant get the phone without a contract.
I am willing to drive to buffalo to an actual T-mobile store but what is their price on the phone with no contract?
Thanks in advance
Well that depends if you want new then I recommend buying from TMobile as you will have remorse and warranty without contract for 450+tax total 480 or so. Using website you can't order it as you have to call it in and order it via phone or go in to the local store. Now if you want to buy new or mint like conditions for cheaper price then try Craigslist or eBay which is selling for $350-400. You have higher chance of getting washed out display which you will have issues now if you don't care about it then just buy it. Far as unlocking goes you can do radio s=off yourself and sim unlock it.
I got mine on craigslist 290

I got mine for 350 on cl new in case right after I returned the Nexus S to Best Buy.
Best phone yet hands down.
Well 350 is the avg price but the thing is what will you do when you get bad display?
Thanks a lot guys for clearing that up a bit for me.
I think i might go with buying a brand new one,
I'm the kind of guy who likes to have things from the start and since i don't see myself getting another phone for a while i think it will be better off to get it new
Cl for $250 new from a tmobile rep, was unopened when I purchased it. May try a costco or sams, im looking into a two year contract and can get another mytouch 4g, or g2 for 99
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I've had a couple of chances to buy them off CL in barely used condition for $250ish, but average price seems to be about $300.
Ive looked in Craiglist around my area and the cheapest I've found was 400, i dont want to order from ebay because my visa is currently over due
for 400 i think id rather just buy it from T-mobile.
But once again thanks for tips and your thoughts

Shop more carefully. Post a WANT AD instead and you'll get lower prices. Worked for me. But then again I live in the SF Bay Area where CL was born, so there's a lot of action.
Check this one out - this one is within driving distance of me.

The best thing I like about CL is the false advertisement to lure folks in each threads by the seller. How they claim its new then when you go inside you see its used lol it can't be new (NIB) but its used morons. Don't waste your time with CL with 1st batch still out in large go pay the full price if money is not object for you or get it via EIP though tmobile I am guessing they have like 30-35 smaller payments.
Now I wouldn't mind buying it of CL year later but not even at that price as most idiots do want 350 for device that should be 150 due to time but they want the price they bought it for lol you have to love people who has 0 to no experience in sale department.

If you do your due diligence as a buyer and inspect the product it's fine. Just like buying a used car.
I bought a mt3g on CL for $200 and sold it on CL 9 months later with accessories for $200. Then a couple weeks later I picked up my gf's Captivate for $200 and in a year I'll probably sell it for $250.
I'm a perfectly straightforward and honest buyer and seller. Post a want ad to buy then post a sale ad to sell. This isn't rocket science.

I live in Toronto, theres probably only a few people selling around here and they want 400+ especially since "It's not out in Canada".
When i check buffalo and that area there are only a few low priced phone which are used and when i tried contacting them they where already sold.

[Q] Asurion Insurance

does anyone know if asurion (tmobile insurance for 6.99) will replace my "lost" hd2 with a newer phone or are they still offering hd2's. i heard they were discontinued.
i wouldnt mind getting a g2x lol. not likely but that would make me very happy.
oh and if it makes a difference i am in the u.s.
I just claimed a real lost HD2 about a week ago and got an HD2 in the mail the next day, so you can't scam them yet (although honestly I personally would feel like a slimeball trying to scam a phone like that, pretty much admitting you can't get one thru honest means)
edit: I wouldn't trade an HTC for an LG anyways, even if it is Dual-Core.
As long as they are still offering the HD2, which they are check the website, all you will get from a insurance claim is another HD2. I think you will still have to pay a hundred bucks to get the device though. But heyca hundred bucks for a HD2, you can not beat that.
$130 .

They must have went up on it seems I bought my HD2. I was told $100 to replace my HD2 with the insurance, which I do have. But hey $130 is still not bad.
its horrible to see how fast the hd2 lost value. if im lucky i can get 200 on craigslist. it was like this like 3-4 months after the phone came out. even luckier is how it hasnt gone down since then.
i guess im waiting for the sensation
most likely 3 months away
I'm not sure what experiences other people have had with asurion, but mine sucked. Filed my claim and paid accordingly (which took 24 hours to actually process) then they stated the phone was shipped out "next day" , however not providing a tracking number. Finally 2 days later providing a tracking number, no update whatsoever regarding it until I called it in. Then they tell me there was a "problem" with my shipment and that they're going to order a replacement phone for me the same day.
Had a very bad experience with Asurion, so no more phone insurance
Agreed. Asurion isn't worth it. yes, $130 to replace the phone. Except, I've had T-Mobile for 6 years, and been paying $6.99/month on two lines and have never had a reason to use it till recent. Which is to say, I've paid $500 into the service, and still had to pay $130 "desposit fee". And they wouldn't do anything to help me, other than charge me to use a service I've paid for. I would have enough money to pay out of pocket for the phone easily if I'd set asside the money myself. Which is what I'm doing as soon as I go and cancel the insurance. Especially as now they're going to start charging $5 to file a claim, as of June. Screw you, Asurion. For doing nothing.
in my area ive never paid over 200 for an hd2. usually around 150. off of cs.
I just cracked my screen, I looked on the tmobile website and there isnt a hd2 new hd2/refurbished for sale...I would pay the deduct if it they would upgrade similar model but if not I might as well get a 40 dollar digitizer replacement on ebay. Anyone know a updated answer on this?
Tis what happened to me. Dropped the phone onto cement, and it landed corner first. Broke the screen. And yeah, T-Mobile and Asurion (the equipment protection company that the insurance goes to) are both out of stock of HD2's now. You'll be stuck getting an HD7. And no other options. Peroid. Trust me, I asked, begged, yelled, etc at them to get me a different phone. Heck, tried to get them to lower or waive the fee, as per previous post in this thread. Honestly, I really do need to file a complaint against Asurion. It's a scam, IMO.
If you love your HD2, and don't mind voiding your warrantly permanently, getting a replacement screen/digitizer is worth the money. $60 at most, which is better than the $130 "replacement" fee for an HD7 instead.
Last month my Tmobile HD2 fell on the cement also and had a broken screen. File with Asurion and i also had to pay a fee of $130. But i received withing 2 days another refurbished HD2. Im surprise how Drashna said that there our of stock of HD2. Drashna im curious but did you received a New or Refurbished HD7 phone?

[Q] does this sound legit?

Hey epic community,
So today, I dropped my phone abt a foot and it landed flat on concrete. To keep it short, it resulted in a spider crack that spans from top left corner diagonally down to bottom right.
I do not have any insurance on this phone.
I asked around to see how much it would cost to fix this and a store worker told me $65 dollars to just replace it for another phone(the worker didn't guarantee it would be a new one.. said may be a refurbished unit).
The worker also said he would give me 30 days to replace it if it is defective in any way.
Does this sound legit to you guys?
Just sounds too good to be true. $65 dollars for a $500+ phone.
Where does this "worker" work? lol
And it's no longer a $500 phone, you can get them cheaper now.
You should check with Sprint, I saw an offer online that they were allowing customers to add TEP to their account and device for a short time. I don't recall the timeline on that offer though.

That may be true, but this offer allows him to add TEP to his account if he so desired.
Yea I understand the TEP coverage.
But then I'd have to pay $107 vs $65.
I don't have TEP, best buy, or any other insurance.
Just wanted to get other people's opinions(esp. those that work for Sprint or are more familar with their policies than the average person) on whether it feels fishy.

We don't have insurance and was told on a defect it would be $35 for any repair lol. But that's a defective phone and not a crack. Just buy a digitizer & screen combo and do it yourself
I dunno if they still do it, but when I broke my epic screen, Sprint had a $35 flat repair rate for everything other than water damage or mainboard damage. The key is to search for a sprint store on sprint's site, and make sure you find one that is a *repair center*. The other stores will just get a phone shipped to you. When I went in, they had a shell of an epic with everything except the mainboard, battery, and battery door. They just swapped my mainboard, sd card, battery, and battery door over to it and $35 later I was on my way with a new screen, keyboard, and housing.
If I were you, I'd call around to the various repair centers in your area(doesn't have to be a corporate store), and verify the $35 policy and see if they have a screen in stock so you can get in and out.
ETA: This was all without insurance.
Okay, thanks all.
I think I'll go through with it.
What could possibly go wrong? .............
Other than you losing money... good luck.
When my phone broke, I took it to the Sprint Store and got a new one for $35 within 3 days.

Broke/Cracked screen replacement

Don't think for a minute that it cost a lot for a screen....There may be high sales now but soon the true cost will be no more than $80.00. Remeber true cost for many phones to OEMS like Apple is $65-100.00. What do you guys think! Here are a few links that I came up with for LCD, and digitizer replacement. I used to work for them. A lot of people assume that they get their phone replaced with a new one in-store, but they don't. It gets shipped out and repaired if possible. Cracked screens are almost always repaired. They try their hardest to avoid giving the customer a new phone. But if they have replace the phone, it's a refurb. If there are no replacements available, they get store credit for the amount they paid for the phone.

This information is very outdated as it has changed a bit ago. The phone gets sent out (you can get a loaner phone if available for $50. This gets refunded when the loaner is returned). Usually within 1-5 business days you get your replacement phone (same model).

Soon? Psssh yeah right, not believable for a minute when a t959 vibrant (gs1) LCD screen replacement is $89 + free shipping and a t989 gs2 is $149 + free shipping, both from amazon and is the cheapest I have found.. which is about the same pricing as LCD replacement sites from China and wholesale sites like Alibaba and Aliexpress.
True though, their wholesale price should be about 3x less than retail but I've been searching extensively for weeks and there are no wholesalers selling for anything less than what I've stated above. It will be years until we see LCD screens for the gs3 at a respectable price, like claimed in the OP. By then the value of the gs3 will become greatly depreciated from what it is today since higher end phones will be available.
P.S none of those links work
