Hi experts,
I have a HD2, running HyperDroid CM7 v3.0.1 (based on Android 2.3.5). I MUST have 3G/2G always on, as I receive push notifications from WhatsApp, CNN, WordsWithFriends, etc. Also, I have disabled all background automatic syncing for all my apps (confirmed by 3G Watchdog Pro). I am a medium-heavy HD2 user.
Currently, my standby battery drain is 11-15 mA (measured by Battery Monitor Widget). The original battery does'nt last me a day.
I had installed JuiceDefender for a week ... but, it showed no improvement in battery life (with customised settings, to take into account my above requirements). I uninstalled it yesterday.
Can I improve my battery life under these circumstances ? I need my battery to last about 3-4 hours more ... so, that I can charge it just once a day every evening. I don't want the extended battery with the ugly hump.
I had searched the forum ... but, could'nt find an answer for my situation.
Thanx in advance.
cheers,
- manish
PS. Mods: Apologies for the double posting .... I later realized, I would get a better response in this sub-forum.
You can use only 2g network instead of 3g which will save energy.

I need my 3G connection for faster loads while working on my HD2.
I have read in posts on this forum that some users are getting a standby battery drain of 2-7 mA with data on and, sometimes, WiFi on !!!!! Any tips from these users how to reduce standy battery drain ? Or, other tips to enhance battery life ?
cheers,

Hello everyone,
This is my first post. I have recently installed the NANASROID ROM on my HTC HD2 and my battery drains like crazy. I am a heavy called and email user. Generally 4 hours of calls a day and 220 email a day. I am charing my phone 3 times a day. I am using my phone on Simple Mobile.
Please help me with your valuable suggestions. Should I buy a spare battery or any software can help me? Or anyone having any suggestion of new battery saver ROM please let me know .
Thank you so much. Waiting for the response.

Well that's some seriously heavy usage, I'd recommend buying an extended battery in any case. You may (or may not) get some extra battery life through optimization but it sure isn't gonna last a day with usage like yours.
First of all install install current widget (market) and monitor your battery consumption both in standy and in usage, that gives an indication on whether optimization is possible or not.
Thank you Stephan. I really appreciate you response. I have also installed System panel and monitoing the usage.
I will soon post the stats after some monitoring. Thank you once again.
PS : do you have any recommendation for any stable NAND ROM for HTC HD2 ( froyo or ginerbread veraion) .

Hmm not really I haven't been too active here the past few weeks. I'm a bit of a CM fanboy though so I'm just sticking with MDJ's Gingerbread. It's stable, it's CM and it's fast enough.
CM = Cyanogenmod in case you don't know.
hi ive been using cm6.1 for a while and the aria's battery life has been a real issue for me. i dont have mobile internet or gps activated so apps like mail or facebook are not any causes. ive been using an overclock app to underclock my phone to save battery but i text a lot and play apps and games alot as well and my battery has still been bothering me because it cannot last a full day without being charged back to the wall after about 3/4 of the day. im wondering if there is a better option for my choice of rom that would save my battery life. thanks!

Your settings and usage of the phone are going to have a greater impact on your battery life than what ROM you choose to use.
but the thing is i only text and sometimes play games. and yet it goes down dramatically quickly
If you have your screen on a lot for games then adjust your brightness down, don't use auto. These displays use a lot of battery regardless of rom.

Hy guys, I know that you're always disturbed by these questions, but I'd really like to find an exact answer for my question: is there any solution to increase the battery life with one charging? I use Damnian kernel and ultimate ROM with the basically given setups. Today with absoluttely no usage my SGS scored an 8 hour long battery result, which isn't so good I guess. So what I need to change or recalibrate to improve these results? In some other topics I read about 2 days bat life, but I can't believe that... in the meantime I'm writing this post my battery indicator shows 96 % and when I started typing it was on 100%!!
Thanks for your help, and I hope I'll get a useful feedback.
Best regards, Henry (95% now!).

I usually get a whole day use with lots of use. Maybe you installed something which drains your battery?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I didn't install any program which could use my battery so hard. I was on Darky 9.3 before, than I upgraded to 9.4but there was some issue with calling and wifi driver and finally I installed damnian kernel and ultimate rom via CWM. I have to mention that neither with 9.3 nor with 9.4 I hadn't got a good battery life, but its annoying that with no use(screen off) it drains 30-40% in 5-6 hours...

Some simple tips that you may already know:
Turn off wifi when you're not actively using it. Same with gps.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
I usually turn off the wifi if I don't use it, the GPS too, and yesterday I also switched to edge instead of 3g... I'm on 92% now, is that okay? Who knows that there is no problem with my battery just I'm so scared about that, LOL

I think is the network problem.I have SGS in vodafone UK with stock jpy and that drains battery like hell.Friend of mine have the same jpy stock rom with orange UK and his phone can last about 2 days when mine last only hardly one day.And also i think it depends about the signal strenght is well.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
If flashing to a new ROM is not too much of a hassle, then try the new JVK stock Samsung ROM.
I have always been on Samsung ROMs and battery was ok for me. My last ROM was 2.2.1 JPY (Nordic), I could easily use it for a day (~12 hrs) with moderate use : ~40 SMSs couple of short (1~2min) calls, always ON 3G data with push gmail, and gtalk, few internet searches and about 30 mins of streaming or MP3 audio with WiFi/GPS/BT Off and screen brightness at 25% from min allowed.
Now using 2.3.3 JVK Samsung stock ROM. Still too early to say for sure, but seems like the battery life is as good (if not better) than JPY.
With screen off and idling (only receiving texts, emails and few missed calls) it once lasted a whole weekend (2 days). So 8 hrs with no use means there is something definitely wrong with your setup. Either its the ROM, a background app, low signal coverage or a defective battery.
Reality:
1 - From a clean install (no 3rd party apps), you should see no more than 1-2% / hour drain when idling (screen-off) but with push enabled and 3G or WiFi connected.
2 - If you're not getting that, do a wipe and re-install 3rd party apps one at a time and after each install let the phone idle for an hour and confirm < 1% drain. If you see a jump, uninstall the last app and try again.
3 - The screen eats battery like it's going out of style. You can expected 2-3 hours of screen time on auto-brightness and you average 50% brightness, and approx. 4 hours on min brightness.
4 - WiFi when enabled but not connected (meaning it's searching for WiFi) will suck down battery. Disable WiFi when not in range.
Other battery tips:
>> Calibrating the battery is overrated. After a complete ROM flash that wipes /system (and therefore the battery stats). Run the phone until it dies, then charge it till it's full. Then just use it like normal.
>> Disable haptic feedback and any keypress / touch sounds.
This is my experience with any 2.2 / 2.2.1 ROM I have tried, and I always use SpeedMod and the same (JL2) modem.
I just waked up and I'm on 40%!!! So during the night it drains about 50% with wifi off, GPS off, and 3g off... so can you guys give me a link where can i download modems from?
I had installed damnian kernel and ultimate rom with full wipe when I noticed that there is a lot of ROM problems with Darky 9.4, but there is no change...
I hope that is software problem not a hardware one. :-S

Hi, I'm on 9.5 (speedmod kernel)and at first it was thirsty as hell. Look in spare parts app that comes with darky and maybe try setting the activity process manager to aggressive from normal. It might help.
Also have a look in settings/applications/ manage applications and running. Go through the list and try doing a force stop on any apps that aren't needed. Since I switched to aggressive mine uses 2% overnight with wifi on.
Hope that helps.
Ash

I checked in the spare parts what is using my battery. So these are my results:
Totally since boot:
Running:66%
Screen on:16%
Phone on: 0,2%
Wifi on:59,9%
Wifi running:59,9%
I don't even use online apps, only my Gmail and yahoo account is syncronising and alert me if I get a new mail, and I have Facebook widget and that's all. I don't think these programs may cause that horribly battery life... what if I delete facebook?
Oh, and I don't really understand why the screen on is using a less percentage than the (system) running?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
The SGS battery is always going to be not so great. Try my setup, I usually get around 1.5/2 days usage. I'm on Darky 9.5 running the SpeedMod kernel (best for battery life IMO). I also leave the WIFI ON constantly (uses less battery than 3G/HDSPA/EDGE when indoors) and I use JuiceDefender, which stops programs syncing in the background until it decides necessary and turns off the data connection while the screen is off.
3G Settings
As what I posted on the previous member's complains on SGS battery drains,
Try this:
Method 1
Go to Settings> Wireless Settings > Mobile Settings > Network Mode
if the current setting is Auto GSM/WCDMA, then change it to your prefered network:
1) GSM Only = means WAP Internet / Call / SMS only ( You can't use video call or high speed packet access)
2) WCDMA Only = same as above but with video calls and HSPA
Method 2
Download an app from the market like 3G/2G On/Off by Curvefish.
Use 2G Mode only when Idle.
And let us know the results ^^
I am not pro regarding battery issues but having network scanning drains the phone. I tested it even on my Symbian smartphones and It saves battery. just trying to help
Thanks for the fast replies, I will try to install back the darky pack, but I need to flash the resurrection edition with Odin first, after that I have to flash 9.5 via cwm. In some topics I read that this method gives the best result of battery, but can somebody explain how to do that step by step, or can somebody paste a link here what I can go through. But unfortunately I don't have a calculator at this moment, I'm going to flash this weekend. Until that I'll try those setups, and I'll download that program.

-ZSJPG - better than JPE for me currently.

can someone help me with the battery life on my htc desire hd i want better battery life without dissabling features, thaanks in advance
Well, there are many factors to getting good battery life.
Matching Radio/RIL can be a good start, especially if rooted.
Definitely ROM's also have a big part.
Overall usage will also bare a pretty big footprint.
I get about 18 hours on a typical work day, with moderate usage which is generally enough for going to work, coming home, and then still have plenty of battery left when I'm ready to go to bed, which is obviously when I charge my phone.

Define "disable" and "features".
disable automatic synchronization and shine
+1 there's nothing wrong with setting your Facebook, Twitter, Email, background syncing, weather etc to less frequent but it will obviously give you more battery life than syncing every 5 minutes, common sense really. An app to preserve battery I have found is Apndroid. Have the widget on your home and you can use 3G when you need it rather than not.

I disable automatic sync of all apps. I only update manually when I use them.
if you can echo all the timings I've been disabled, the sync I maualmente when I access the email application, facebook, etc. .. tweteer
have you rooted your phone? which rom are you using? some details will be appreciated...
tried custom roms? i usually get better battery life with them,
also setting off auto brightness helps a lot for me.

hey, mate... you've got some very generic question... specific info like ROM you're using, Radio, Kernel would bring justice for members to give you some more specific help.
This probably might help:
ROM CoreDroid 7
Radio 12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 - (HTC Ace Gingerbread S Generic 2.36.0)
RIL_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2
Kernel LeeDrOiD GB V3.1.6 - 2.6.35.13 BFS KERNEL (thanks to LeeDroid)
Live wallpaper Nexus Revamp
disabled wifi, refresh, gps (used powercontrol widget for accesibility).
After flashing, my battery was drained in 5 hours even after an overnight full charge.

Cyanideskittle2010 tips will prove really helpful. tweak around phone settings which are my priorities... things i don't normally use disabled them, enabled them when i need to.
also, installed cpu clocking, initially used setcpu, then moved up to cputuner which gave me more options... juicedefender also can help if you prefer it. setcpu or cputuner are both available in market.
gave my phone 24 - 48 hours, after battery calibration, full batterystats wipe, now i am good at 30 hours battery time.
used to have 36 hours battlife but was using CoreDroid 6.7 then... shifted to CoreDroid 7 because i just love its UI.
hope this helps! credits to all xda cooks & chefs, sergio76, coredroid team etc..

I think it's better to wipe when the phone is fully charged (test with currentwidget) but i think to best is to use the original battery. It can damage your phone and I often read that those batterys don't have more power than the original.
Is it normal that from full battery after night I have only 50%? Extremely strange for me... I have ARHD 5.1.10, ANDIDA 1800 mAh

hi guys i am looking for a rom which is ultra stable and has the best battery managment-consuption.i need the phone to last for 3 days or 2 and the only usage will be some sms and a lot of music(ex. 3-4 hours a day?)
is something close to that?
i don't care about performance just the battery.
also any tips for the battery to last longer?
not sure any ROM can give 3 days battery life with 3/4 hours of music playing a day.
make sure to keep wifi + mobile data off if you want to extend battery life, also screen rotation and brightness on minimum.

Kyrillos' ROM v10.5 has given me the best battery life....
It lasts 1 and half days.
I keep my Data Network ON 24 × 7 and constantly messaging, I would say its a good battery life....
If you are not planning on doing a heavy usage or use lots of Data Network and WiFi I would say you could get a 2 days battery life.....
yeah of course i wont use wifi or 3g!i go for a trip at mountains and i just need the phone exlusive for music and 2-3 sms per day.
i dowloaded kyrillos v9.6 with g3mod v3.2(non oc both) is that a good rom or dl the giger version of kyrillos?
non-oc will give better battery life than oc.
