I installed FSX on my Windows 8 Developers Preview to see if it would work. When trying to open FSX after the installation, the splashscreen would appear and a few seconds later the infamous "Microsoft Flight Simulator has stopped working" message would appear.
I went through the event log and the faulting module seems to be kernelbase.dll, which suggests that FSX is not compatible with windows 8 out of the box. Has anyone managed to find a workaround for this?
Try running FSX in compatibility mode.

I installed skype but it caused the qtek 9100 to crash randomly and very often. I removed the software, but now almost everytime i come from standby mode i have a notification box that it could not run programs/skype.exe
This is really annoying as I already removed the prog, and I have no clue what is trying to run skype on the phone. How can I check this / remove this?

I had the same problem.
I downloade the most resent version of Skype.
Softreset
Installed Skype.
Softreset
Deinstalled Skype.
Softreset.
Then the trouble disappeared.
Worth a try.

I had the same problem. Using the software "check notifications" I removed skype.exe and the problem is solved.
The software also increases the performence by removing multiple running processes.

These arent my words, ive just copied and pasted from another pocket pc forum. Maybe it'll help.
Problems like this come from invalid entries in the DB_notify_events WinCE database. You can correct this by hand (if reinstalling & uninstalling Skype doesn't cure it):
1, get Pocket dbExplorer from http://www.phatware.com/hpcdbex.html
2, install and run
3, go to DB_notify_events
4, go to the last entry of the list on the lower half of the screen - the 2nd "TEXT" entry. You'll see the EXE name in the upper half of the screen.
5, press the right arrow until you see a link to Skype.exe.
6, press AT THIS RECORD the Delete button.
Hm, I don't find the DB_notify_events. I wonder if you have to buy the product in order to be able to do this.
I still haven't solved this problem
Is this what one can expect when Microsoft hits the mobile? ...just waiting for the viruses and BSODs to hit.

Not knocking it, but how does getting rid of Skype from the list of notifications help ?

Update: I still got a Skype erro after doing the remove, but since doing a Clear in Check Notify it hasn't re-occurred. Fingers crossed.

I hope someone can shed some light on my problem! I have been running HD Tweak with out any problems until recently! When i go to open hd tweak and airscanner and core player and to be fair any new apps. The error message i get when trying to open is as follows-
"the file 'HDTweak' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file"
I have reinstalled this app many times. every time i restart my hd this keeps happening!

I had a similar error with a different program. After I had uninstalled it I went to Windows/Startup and removed the shortcut to the uninstalled program. Not sure why you would have a shortcut for HD Tweak there though. I also have HDTweak installed but with no shortcut in that location. However this is the only thing I can think of at the min. Sorry

I had this problem but it turned out to be because I had connected to a PC as a hard drive. This seems to disable the Storage Card. Not sure if this helps you, but it solved my problem
I have been using HD2 with Windows Phone 7 for a few days and i still have problem about loading application on MarketPlace. After I tried to install, I always got message "Can't get this info right now. Check back in a little while"

i dont know how many of you have tried this and ended up in the same spot as me, but here is my issue.
i recently installed blacklight retribution from steam on my toshiba with windows 8 pro, and all went well in that aspect.
i launched the game and it brought up the normal window where it does all of its updating and everything.
i sign in and hit continue and this is where i hit my issue.
the game loads in full screen, like it should, but i only see a black screen.
after about 5 seconds, windows says it has stopped working and has to close.
this happens everytime that i try to open it,
anyone have any suggestions on what i can do to get the game running?

Have you done some searches or checked the Steam forums? The only thing I can think to recommend is to try setting Compatibility Mode (you may have to go into the SteamApps folder and set it on the EXE directly). This isn't really a tech support forum...

I have looked already but all look again. I may have tried your second option but I can't remember.

Any time I try to launch as game it just keeps popping up the launch menu. It's kind of annoying. Anyone else have stream and experiencing this?

I was. I uninstalled games and steam, then reinstalled them and everything works good now.
