Are you using synthetic clothes? Plastic case gets charged with static energy if you rub it on synthetic fabric, and attracts dust particles. Using a silicone case helps, as silicone is not affected by the phenomenon.
I really think that you shouldn't have such dusty pockets.

I have a silicone case (SGP Silke) but it takes years to take the phone off the pocket... I'd rather have some dust on the phone than having people yell at me for not answering in time... -_-
Grab a leather holster, and problem solved...

Wash your cloths... of course, without the phone.
You'll be surprised how much dust can be removed from your pants with wash machine
Or even better, throw it in you vacuum cleaner bag. So you won't notice the dust from your pocket
I think its more finger prints than dust but it still gathers up especially on the edges of the screen. I'm also using a screen protector

The dust won't get under the screen like with HTC devices since samsung fuses the glass to the screen and it comes as one unit.

Having suffered from the infamous dust issue with the Desire that's good to know.
actually...
dust does get under the screen, but not under the monitor part of the glass. i have little specs of dust filling the optical hole of the front facing camera. i'm gonna assume it got in there through the speaker. it really frustrates me and i may go and buy a dust blower to try to dislodge it. i've tried blowing in and all it does it fog up the lens. i dont use and dont plan to use the front facing camera, but it is pretty frustrating that there's dust in there.
So I have been pretty much just living with the fingerprints on my Hero since there was no other method of input on it but now that I have the Shift, the fingerprints on the touchscreen are driving me crazy. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good screen protector that doesn't show prints?
I'm worried that my constant wiping of the screen will prematurely scratch it.
I use a zagg protector, its not bad. You will get fingerprints but I don't think they're that noticeable. Of course eating chips and touching the phone is probably always going to leave a fingerprint but otherwise I recommend zagg

I haven't tried it but I saw someone say they apply Rain-X to the screen periodically and makes wiping the prints off easy.

I use lens cleaning wipe on my anti glare screen protector periodically. Can't really see fingerprints. But the pores do happen to absorb oil..
Evo SHIFT
i hate fingerprints too, i use the anti glare screen protector that comes in the 3 pack from sprint, 2 regular and 1 no glare and i love the no glare one, although it kinda washes out the screen its very worth the no fingerprints
I like the screen protector I got from Zagg. Little hard to get used to at first, cause it's kind of feels funny. But it seems to keep glare down, and definately no fingerprints.
If you do get the Zagg I wouldnt plan on having a case. Over time the case will lift up the corners of the shield and it will start peeling off.

I've used a Skinomi(skinomi.com) protector on both of my Shifts, and rarely notice fingerprints (it does smudge, but not badly). It does have a mild "orange peel" effect if you look at it from the side with the screen off, but it does not affect the direct viewing angle, and there is little discernible texture.
The nice thing is that they are guaranteed not to scratch, so I don't have to futz with it.

Yeah I also notice the no glare protector kinda dulls the screen. I took it off and it looked more vibrant. I ended up switching to a regular screen protector.
Has anyone tried the mirror one? Is it worth it?

I use a silicon based liquid wax that has NO ABRASIVES . Apply it once a month, fingerprints wipe off easily and your finger slides across the screen easy.

Don't spend money on touchscreen gloves, just take your favorite pair of gloves and sew a couple loops of conductive thread (available in many places online) into the fingertips.
I have a screen protector and just cannot figure out how to clean the smears off. Can I use Windex or alcohol on the protector? I have these alcohol wipes I use for my glasses that I think would be great, however if alcohol is a big no no, I'd be afraid of runoff on the edges. And the same goes with Windex.
I'm using a zagg invisible shield. All I do is wipe with a damp soft cloth. Good as new.
I would not use anything like windex. I use a solution that I bought for my HDTV a couple years ago. It is designed to clean off sensitive screens like LCD's, stereo equipment, etc. I don't remember the name of the product, but I bought it at Best Buy. There are several different products out that are safe to use on smartphone screens. Some are kinda spendy. A microfiber cloth works great paired up with one of these solutions.

If you're talking about stuff other than finger prints, just use a moist micro fiber. For finger prints all I do is give a quick breath and wipe.
I wouldn't use any chemical not recommended by the maker.

Smears, like oil or grease. Microfiber isn't doing the trick, just smearing it more.

A good microfiber towel should really do the trick all by itself. Worse case get the towel a bit damp with water. This is how I've clean my phone and tablet and I've had no problems. Don't forget to wash the towel once in a while to remove the oils it builds up with.
Smears are easily taken care of with any descent 2-ply toilet paper. Now if you are talking about the hershey squirts, I highly recommend using an old cotton towel to soak it up, followed by a soap and hot water mix to relieve the burning that is usually associated with heavy smears and/or hershey squirts. Hope this could be of some help...

This stuff works on "sensative" screens.
If it is too much for microfibre cloth to handle, use one of those tiny sanitizing hand wipes. It's basically alcohol and evaporates quickly and won't damage any electronics.

Hilarious!....poor cat! What impressed me was that he was hitting the screen quite hard with a very small contact point and quite heavy knives and it didn't break, and he dropped it from quite a height!
yeah gorilla glass 2 seems to be quite the thing :>
a lot of people moan about screen cracks when they drop phone, but if you drop a piece of glass it will break if it lands on a stone or something similar, the point of gg2 is scratch resistance, I think I'm going to try one of those tempered glass screen protectors when they iron out the small flaws in it....the customer service guy on the accessories thread is brilliant
Ive been running without screen protector for 1 month and I dont have a single scratch, not a single one. I do have a Diztronic case though

I wear a screen protector but not for scratch reasons more for shock proofing.
That little bit of plastic on the screen is likely to absorb a little impact when it falls or gets bumped. Its a bit like those people that put a sticky tape x on their window during violent storms. This glass may be hard, but it can definitely be tougher.

Thats not to stop the glass from braking.......that to stop the glass from flying around in that violent storm. as its taped together giving it more weight as a whole instead of small shards everywhere.
so i dont think the protector helps the screen from shattering. just my OP
The glass on our phones are harder than carbon steel.. So it's a no brainer.

I always take good care of my phones. I have yet to break one, or lose one.
Today I did something I've done thousands of times, slide my phone into my pocket, and it put a nasty scratch in my screen. I always slide it in screen to my leg, to protect the screen in case I bump into something. The little rivet on the condom pocket of my jeans barely made contact and it scratched it.
Attached an image of the offending jeans so you can avoid the same fate.
Also to all the haters, these are far from skinny jeans which I don't own a single pair of.
I have no problem fitting my phone and hand in my pocket at the same time.
To all of you that wear jeans that are excessively baggy in the thigh area; you either don't have enough thigh, or don't have enough weiner. I suggest hitting the squat rack, or your parents for the latter.

The gorilla glass screen is hype. It's nice to have but it's not scratch proof, it's scratch resistant. I won't even use my HTC One yet (still in it's protector sleeve in box) until I have all the protections I need. The only thing I have done was to inspect it to see if I had a good batch.

Left pocket, no keys, no coins with phone. Never got a single pants-related scratch on my phones.
Wow that sucks. Have no scratches on my phone screen from putting in my pocket. though I do have nicks in the aluminum edges at the bottom panels on the front of the device from putting it in my pocket and walking around. Never have anything in the pocket with my phone and I make sure there is no lint or sand or anything of the sort to hurt my phone. But I wear skinny jeans so having it pressed tightly when walking has got little marks in it. Must have had extremely tiny particles of in my pockets that did it. Really disappointing. Was hoping to keep this thing perfect. Gonna get the siedo surface to protect the aluminum panels at the bottom and top.
It's obvious that something in my pockets did it since the top aluminum panel has no nicks in it.
