Its been a while since ive been using DHD (5 month: quite long if compare to other phone i used..haha)
I've just sold DHD yesterday..
Reason:
1) HTC phones price drop like shyty nowadays..Damn..Better sell now b4 i loose more $$ (Bought at USD 462.53(RM1430 in April2011), sold at USD 388.14(RM1200 in September 2011)..thats +$50bucks lost ><
2) DHD super great development n DEV support quite distracting my studies..haha..eager to try n flash new ROMS n update frquently
3) Android is too fun..too many games n apps..gonna leave android for a while since got SACE exam this november...=P
4) GPS lock for DHD is ugly..staying in Malaysia...previously using RCMix Sense 3.0 v27 and Sense 3.5 v1.2..it sucks..i only get my GPS support for about 20% of my whole GPS usage attempt since past 5 months..Using Sygic n Papago..Dunnoe whats the problem..it my phone
Considering to buy new gadget soon enough (especially after exam =D Nov-Dec)
Any good gadgets u guyz recommending?
Better HTC tweaks capable android?
Tablets? Ipad2? Iphone4? anything?
Damn, I say your lost is quite little. I sold my DHD for RM 700.00
Next phone? Gs2 or drolly wait for the Nexus Prime.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
Whoa, you bought it for just RM1400??? Dang, and sold it for RM1200?! That bro, is not a loss.
Considering many new HTC phones use the same cpu as Desire HD, it's a bit disappointment for you to sell your phone. Upgrading to dual core phone doesn't make much difference. So it's either Nexus Prime, or quad core phones.
sg2 maybe something from se

It does indeed look very tasty have to admit I don't have the money for a new phone yet and I'm still loving my dhd.
If you get one the jealous factor will be sky high

Well. Maybe something from Nokia and Mango
but also Vigor is very nice
What about Evo 3D?
Wait and see what phones are coming in december. If you dont need it now dont look.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
Buy next DHD lol (I don't know why you had problems with GPS, should be fine as other phones have). If you wait a while, it will cost you almost nothing .
By the way, you won't fix your play-desire by selling play-hardware . It's just yours free will problem, so fix the source .
i think prime is a good choice, no memory card but cloud is coming
Sad you sold the DHD. I would not sell it.
You can look at Samsung Galaxy Note. Looks promising.
Back to HTC big family or SAMSUNG Galaxy
It's not bad sell. I bought my dhd in January for 1000 $ (29000 rub) and now I can sell it only for 300 $ (9000-10000 rub)
I don't see any good phone by HTC now that can replace dhd. But if you like apple - iPhone 4 or 4s - good phone.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
I would look at the Galaxy Nexus when its released. The first proper ICS handset.
You got still much back for your dhd ( you bought it in April when price already dropped ). I think selling your DHD is not a good idea unless its really old, yours was maybe just about 6 months, yes then of course you can still get good amount for it.
Mine is 1 year old now, I got it with a contract so the contract cost me about € 600 for 24 months, so I still have 12 months to go. Judging the dropped price off the DHD which is at € 350 in my country now, that would mean if I would sell it now I would atleast lose 50% off the orginal price when I got it one year ago.
So selling a DHD does not sound a good idea to me, you will need to add alot off money yourself for getting a new HTC phone and they are not so much different from the DHD, they only got a better processor and GPU, this you won't notice really, as i'm running sense 3.5 to on my DHD and it can be over clocked up to 1.8Ghz and higher.
And when you see that HTC still brings out phones with same processor as the DHD, but overclocked at like 1.5Ghz that's why I don't see reason to get new phone, I think the DHD should stick with me until it dies, for like 4 years or so.
Of course I can sell it after I had it 2 years, but then I probably would just get about € 150 or so and keeping it longer will save me more money, of course it depends if there would be any contract which I have now with my provider, but how things look now in my country it seems like the contracts will be more expensive and not giving the same mobile internet as before.
Btw the price off the HTC Sensation is also low, in my country the lowest price right now is € 414, but the contract will at least cost you about € 700 a € 800 with a 2 year contract with mobile internet.
There are no better yet before HTC Vigor will arrive.
It will be small difference to change now.
When we get 1.6 GHz dual core, 1.5 GB internal store and removable SSD card I will consider to change.
HTC Sensation EX is dropped form my side because not removable SSD card (only 16 GB and not to change).

Review from engadget
http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/20/t-mobile-g2x-review/
While most of the hardware in the G2x hits the spot, we're a little underwhelmed with the display. The 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) IPS panel looks good on paper but misses the mark when compared to the competition. Sure, the colors are rich and the viewing angles are wide, but the LCD washes out more than expected in direct sunlight and suffers from a significant amount of backlight leaking out from the edges of the screen, resulting in visible "stains" on solid, dark-colored content.

It's getting rave reviews, the only complaints I have read are the light leak and the Euro version comes with a hdmi cord and the us version doesn't. Other than those two complaints this phone seems to be a winner.
Oh damn, I'm still up in the air between this one and the SGSII. Looks like Sammy's gonna win in the display dept. This is pretty disappointing to see; especially since we know LG makes the screens for the iphones. SMH.
Don't see much of an upgrade from my vibrant. Now if it had a 4. 3" screen, I would run and get one today I hope we get phone with a screen that big soon.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
People should really wait this out. The Vibrant is more than good enough for now, why rush and get the newest flawed product.
I've had 3 phones in the past 2 months, lost a mt4g over the weekend, got a gs4g on Sat, returned it today got the g2x and other than missing the optical mouse on the mt4g, for what's out there currently this phone is by far my favorite....but really how come phones are now lacking camera hw buttons and notification LEDs, that has been irking me all week, and I would take a vibrant over a gs4g because of the internal storage
im trying to wait for the galaxy 2 but i doubt i will be able to wait and find my self getting the g2x
Played around with it today at the downtown Seattle TMO store, and the screen was a major letdown for me. I went wanting to upgrade. The kicker was when I asked if I got the upgrade they said I had 3 months before my 1 year for discount to upgrade. Grrr. Wonder if the HTC Sensation will be out by then, bigger screen, faster processor, etc.

usually, perfect.
I wouldn't count on saying that SGSII would have a not-working GPS..
i'm sure Samsung learned from their mistake..
i mean... the GPS bug was found out like a month after Vibrant's were sold...
millions sold.
They can't re-call millions of sold products...
i got one today. while i would love to get a galaxy s II im thoroughly frustrated with samsung.

Indeed. At times it seems some people buy phones here just for the sake of having a "new" one. Why change when you've a device that works just like you want to? Better specs aint everything, looks can be deceiving.

You're right but everytime I compare this with my Olde Cliq, I piss off .Except for the not too good speed, everything works nicely and its GPS just simply blow Vibrant one out of the water (locks within 5 seconds no matter what roms I put on it Eclair, Froyo or Gingerbread)
So the LG G2X runs the Tegra Duel Core, the HTC Sensation will be running their Scorpion duel core chip, and the Galaxy S2 will be running what processor?
I remember seeing something about the HTC duel core not being as good as the Tegra 2's? how about the Galaxy S2 duel core?
I know its a lot to ask, just wondering if anyone remembers seeing that HTC chip was not as good as the Tegra or what the Samsung will have.
I think it will be good to compare this as it seems like these are the 3 phones many of us are trying to decide on/wait for
Got my g2x on Tuesday, and rooted it last night, the screen is a let down my is minor compared to some overall love it, someone just finished recovery and cm7 or gingerbread STABLE real soon.. the only Sammy products I will buy here forward our their TVs

i'm waiting for the evo 3d, moving to sprint
its no comparison SG2 all the way!!! but if i cant have that then my runner up will be the sensation
Considering how long the original Evo has been around, can anyone speculate on how much longer Sprint will be carrying their model around? I suspect at least until the end of 2011 and maybe even April 2012! It is that good with lots of supported accessories.
Plus it's definitely one of the Sprint's top 4-5 bestsellers still after a year.
Imo it will be selling more now due to the price drop alot of people dont go for the latest and greatest phone. The evo is now a mid range priced phone. It still has life left. Unless sprint does something like switch to lte i suspect that it will be around for at least 3 to 4 more years.
Sent from my EVO 4G using Tapatalk
look at the other phones that sprint is still selling such as the HTC Touch Pro 2 The Hero and more IMO the EVO will be around for a long time to come and it will probably be cheaper
Yeah it will stick around for awhile. I give it 7 months tops but hey, maybe longer.

Nobody will know the answer to your question.
I think it will be around for a bit. Still a very good phone. No easy insurance upgrades to that 3D no time soon I think...rofl.
A phone like the EVO 4G should stick around for another year or 2 I say...
Look at the HTC Hero, it lasted on their website for more than 3 years...
how long has the 4g been around? how many years later. ldk, @ boost mobiles price of $45/mo. for me currently I think I'll ride this one out untill I can get an Atrix to do the same thing!
For another 10 years.

The HeroC is still active, even has CM7 builds. I'd say development will slow down when the Evo 3d gets rooted, but it won't really ever stop for a year or two at least.

development will halt the more and more people's usb ports break and their phones get replaced with non-rootable phones
Considering that it's 99$ at the store and they give a 150$ trade in credit I think it will be around for a while. Plus I just sold one on Ebay for 289$ (with all the accesories of course) After a while though it will phase out like the HD2 did on Tmobile
I'll take a guess and say they'll let it go until the end of 2012 and then stop supporting it and force everyone over to Evo Shift and Evo 3D

lets say you are right and they stop supporting evo 4g at the end of next year. In the second half of 2012 who in their right mind would upgrade their 4g to a shift? By that time the 3d will be mid range and they'd have a high end model and slight possibility of another in between model thrown in like the shift was last jan
The EVO is a great phone. And with a strong developer community behind it, I see the end of its effective lifetime being about the time Sprint's new LTE network becomes viable. That's the point at which the last holdouts will start dumping their Evos, IMHO.
Hey everyone,
yesterday was a tragic day for me as my beloved Vibrant has fallen off my pockets because of my insecurities of not securing it safely after hanging up on a friend. I was washing my car, my friend decides to call me to and asks me if I can go with him to give him some advice for a new android phone since he's going to be joining in the android family. Unfortunately, after hanging up, I get a broken LCD touch screen phone and he gets a new one. So, without further a doo doo. here it is.

So, any suggestions for phones on a T-Mobile Network?
SGSII
HTC Amaze 4G
HTC One S (waiting on this for now...)

I would definitely wait until the SGS3 comes out as well... or when it is officially announced at the very least.
you'll find other phones to drop in price by then. personally i wouldn't settle for a "new" phone right now bc they're all generally on the tail end of what the trends have shown
at the very best, you'll end up with a phone that may not be completely LTE capable, a screen's resolution only able to boast up to 960x540, and a battery still in the 1600-1700 mAh range.. seeing that phones in the next few months will all have at least 720p screens, LTE, and better battery life.. i would wait it out
thanks for the input guys. I wanted to wait out for the GSIII to be honest and keep my vibrant till then. Right now I'm using the myTouch 3G/Sapphire I believe... garbage..
I'll wait and see for the GSIII.
I'm the same boat as you bro. I'm using a iphone 3gs while waiting dor the sgs3

If you wanna upgrade on the cheap, I suggest an LG G2X. Dual core, FFC, great support from xda, and its about $225-250 on eBay, and a little bit less on craigslist. This definitely is a great phone with a custom ROM.

wouldn't really call that a reasonable upgrade from the vibrant at that price..
dont mean to bash but having a dual core processor and a FFC for $100+ more over simply replacing a vibrant seems a bit much when a couple months of waiting will provide much greater features for the long haul

Well they were asking about phones like the SGS2 and Amaze, which definitely aren't worth it now. And he's looking for an upgrade, and that would be the most reasonable one, considering the phones ahead. But I can definitely see your point.

I went from a vibrant to a sgs2. I don't regret it at all. Sure the sgs3 will be better but honestly it won't be much longer after it comes out, that everyone will be talking about the next big thing. There are some really good devs over there. As some of you know Eugene373 just got a vibrant, plus we have a guy named thederekjay who is making unbelievably good roms and kernels. This phone will be around for a while.

Sorry to hear about your Vibrant. :/ If I were you, I'd wait it out before spending a good amount of money on one of the phones that are currently out. I'd go for the Samsung Galaxy Note (if it came to T-Mobile). SGS3 would definitely be worth the wait, though.

I'm actually leaving. As of 3/6/12 my internal SD card is corrupted on my Vibrant. Might disassemble and part out because the screen is perfect. Bought a SGS2 that got "Lost" in the mail..... that is a $350 hit as of now. It is SO ridiculous, the post office said they delivered it so they are washing their hands of the situation. I have spent hours between EBAY PAYPAL and USPS and it does not look good for me . Funny thing is just try to get ahold of EBAY customer service. I only got through after calling PAYPAL directly and then they transferred me to someone at EBAY. Have just bought a spanking new Galaxy Nexus with signature verification through FedEx so we will see about the funny business that may come with this most recent purchase.
I am considering buying a nexus 7 16gb, is it worth the 314 AUD price tag? What do you guys think from your experiences? Thanks

Yes ! It is an amazing tablet and the first one born with Android Jelly Bean 4.1. It has a really powerful processor (NVidia Tegra 3 Quad Core (x4) 1.3GHz.). The size is really awesome, you can hold it fine with one hand. It is really smooth and fast. Worth to buy

If you love your Nexus S's Android OS, the Nexus 7 will not disappoint.
You really cannot go wrong with the price. I mean 250$ is dirt cheap. Especially for a Tegra 3 and 1GB of RAM. Really enjoying mine so far and I have an iPhone 4S and new iPad as well. Android has a special place in my heart for tinkering and this tablet is totally fulfilling that niche .

I think the size is perfect as the ipad IMO is too big and heavy, 7 inch is perfect size
I bought mine on release weekend at jbhifi for $317, best choice
Buy it from a store so if you have problems, you can take it back like I did.

416mhz (but a lot of custom kernels overclock to 520)
OP: we can't really answer that (at least, not without information on your preferences). You should youtube the n7 in action and see if it seems to fit your needs.
The nexus 7 is very worth it. Your might have to return it a couple times if it has the defects like screen lift, light bleed, etc.
I doubt the iPad mini will be around 300 dollars, as the ipod touch costs 300 and is less than half the size.
If i were you, I would buy it!
I bought one yesterday and it's well worth it. Mine was built in August and doesn't seem to have any screen or multi-touch problems that others do.
Tapatalk made me send this.
I've had mine for a while and even with a little screen lift on the left hand side, I'd buy it all over again.
If you have the option, purchase an extended warranty that covers screen damage. That extra insurrance never hurt.
I'd buy that for any tab I'd purchase.
Buy it...you won't regret it. Your significant other may though. I think my girl is going to break mine if I don't put it down. Lolzzz

I hope these are only rumors and this phone will be a mid range phone...

This is either obviously fake or a mid-range device... it dosent even have the dual speakers (boom sound) and it has the older 3 buttons like the OneX.

I hope these are only rumors and this phone will be a mid range phone...

Why should you be angry.. If they release another flagship in 6 months, good for us. Sell the current one and buy new one. Simple

Actually, that looks like a low-end phone for the MVNO's or emerging markets.
This looks like a mid-range phone.
HTC had three devices released at the same time last year (One X, One S, One V) so to make their 2013 numbers it only makes sense for them to continue adding new phones to their range.
Well they already said that we gonna get only 1 high range. And it is fiiine.
That M4 render majors it look cheaper than any of the competition. I wouldn't buy it.

Definitely a low end phone, they shouldn't be worrying about another flagship phone when I am still waiting for my developer version.
Doesn't that look like the HTC First?
I really hope they don't mess it up by launching a One+ in 6 months.
This is their main problem (ok maybe 2nd after marketing), if you buy an HTC flagship phone you know that after half a year you no longer have the best of HTC (sensation XE, XL, Onex+, Onexl...)
Samsung & Apple don't have this problem.

The phone in the pictures is the HTC E1 (603e) which is a lower mid-range Chinese market phone:

Looks like a mini dna, probably we wont see it around here

You want HTC to stop innovating or stop producing faster phones even when they can, due to improved binning, just so that you can always have the latest phone?
That sir, is ridiculous.
Perhaps they should make it two years before releasing new models as that is now a typical contract length and European warranty length?
Or three years, because let's face it, who likes spending money?

Exactly all these people complaining about companies releasing new phones. If you can't afford don't buy, it's not that companies have to release phones according to some ones buying habits. There are always people shopping for new phones in different seasons, so companies have to release new phones to be relevant. The htc one 6 months down the line will be an outdated phone. I can easily see an updated version of One with Snapdragon 800 may be.

I don't think we can call the Sensation XE and One XL innovative phones and it's not only a matter of personal preference, I don't think I am the only one in this case.
Last year HTC admitted they launched too many phones and people got lost in all the different versions.
In the end it's a problem of strategy; Apple and Samsung have a simple offer (at least with the flagship devices), which is easier to advertise and apparently easier to sell.
Mystery solved.

Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC will begin promoting its new customizable E1 phone in China, our sister newspaper Commercial Times reports.
Chinese customers will have the option to customize their phone through HTC's website with a variety of accessories including its case and the color of its phone charger, and also amend its features such as the phone's RAM and camera resolution.
HTC China estimates that the E1 will have the highest performance value among the company's smartphone range, with its price ranging from 1,700 to 1,899 yuan (US$275-$310).
The Taoyuan-based company has boosted its market share in mainland China over the past year, but its higher range models still lag behind rivals Apple and Samsung.
The E1 will reportedly sport a 1.15 GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch WVGA screen, dual SIM cards and 2100mAh battery. Custom options will include the phones built-in storage (8GB or 16GB), main camera (five or eight megapixels) and one of the six body colors plus patterns.
