[Q]my touch 4g camera

im using evil virtuous doubleshot glacier v1.1.5 and i love the camera. its amazing. the only problem i have is the front facing camera isnt working. when i try to switch to the front camera it closes and brings me to my home page. anyone else having this problem? is there any way to fix it? thanks in advance

The doubleshot ROM is awesome never tested ffc you might try the camera apk from unity and see if that works

CM7.1 camera

Is there a better camera?
Like from another rom

Synergy has the best camera I've used in a rom.

Look around for the MIUIcamera.apk. it is in the forums somewhere.

If I load a sense camera.apk on an AOSP, will it enable 720p recording/touch to focus?

CM7 camera has touch to focus. Enable it in the camera options

I doubt it'll work at all on AOSP.
But +1 on the MIUI Camera .apk

Nope, you need the sense drivers for that. Miui camera is good, salvagemod has the best video quality for aosp.

can someone post salvage cam

so.. CM 7.1 does - or does not - fix Evo 3G camera focusing? Especially close-up focusing? Where can I go to determine this definitively?

I don't have any problems with the CM camera.. However I'm still searching for the perfect apk.. isn't everyone?

So with CM7.1 my Evo camera sucks. Always out of focus in "low" light when its not even that dark.
The white balance even in daylight is way off even if set to daylight.
Is there a better camera apk that fixes this? In my original Sense ROM, the camera was "better" but still suffered from slow shutter.

I've been looking for a better camera too. I will have to search around for miuicamera
I haven't really been interested in the cameras on phones until lately. I have always wondered why CM pictures are not wide like the sense pictures unless you put it on 6M (wide), but then it is slightly lower quality. Does this mean that the sense camera shoots at 6MP by default? Or can it shoot 8MP wide?

I know there are a few that use the MIUI camera. There's plenty of posts about that in the CM7 thread if you search. But just curious, what's "wrong" with the CM7 camera?

I don't think anyone is questioning the validity of you wanting a different camera. I believe BrettApple is asking what you don't like about the CM camera because knowing this information could help people make better recommendations.
Maybe you want more special effect options
Maybe you want a different shutter mode
Depending on what you are looking for, people will be able to make better recommendations.
I've personally used CM7 stock cam, MIUI cam on CM7, Vignette (a market app), and Camera Zoom FX (a market app).
These days I just use the stock CM7 cam for most stuff. I occasionally fire up the MIUI cam so I can take advantage of the burst shutter mode. I don't have any other cameras currently installed.

So does anyone have a link to the miui cam? And would I flash it or install it with root explorer?

If you are having reboot issues, I believe that turning off the AutoFocus will resolve. Some people seem to experience it more than others: I have no idea why.
If you disable AutoFocus, touch-to-focus still works.

I use the mini camera without any problems on cm7. I like it better than the stock for the versatility in settings. Is very easy to add.

Probably either the RCMixed Sense 3.5 ROM or eViL's DoubleShot ROM.

virtuous unity has a pretty nice camera app too. basically, all sense roms have better camera apps than stock.

One thing to note though, stock AOSP camera takes very good pictures, just as good as the Sense ones.
It's just not as "pretty" looking as the Sense ones.

I'm on evil d's doubleshot ROM. Camera app is good, better than others, but the pictures taken on each ROM are being taken with the same camera, so Idk..

I like the CM7 camera. Sense based camera apps like VU and the VD ROMs didn't focus as well or as quickly. They also add a bit of noise to the image compared to AOSP.

Sense Camera on CM7?

Is this possible? I really like the sense camera for the edit effects. A good photo effect app would be just as appreciated
Edit: another problem I'm having with the CM7 camera is that the picture doesn't fill the screen like with sense

No. Every main Sense app is tied to framework blah blah blah, anyway HTC has it fixed so the apps depend on Sense as a whole...There's no picking this or that out, none of that, on touch wiz people have hacked the apps but that's different. Just use another camera app like fx, lg, etc...

Any idea where to find a good alternative?

Set the CM7 camera to 4MP wide if that's what you really want. All it's doing is slightly zooming in, so you're actually getting slightly worse picture quality.
