im using evil virtuous doubleshot glacier v1.1.5 and i love the camera. its amazing. the only problem i have is the front facing camera isnt working. when i try to switch to the front camera it closes and brings me to my home page. anyone else having this problem? is there any way to fix it? thanks in advance

The doubleshot ROM is awesome never tested ffc you might try the camera apk from unity and see if that works

I am using evilDs virtuous doubleshot 1.1.6 and it is amazing. So smooth and great battery. Rotating Rosie is perfect. My camera quality looks great to me but when I try to switch to front facing, it closes and sends me to my home screen. I check the pages of the android development to are if someone else had this problem but didn't see anything. If someone could help that would be great. Thanks in Advance

This must be due to some bugs in the virtuous doubleshot rom. Just try to replace the camera app.
I will give you the sense 3.0 camera app (with 1080p) but you should use it on 720p mode only.
Always do a nandroid backup before trying this. You can download the app here.

So are you using mytouch 4g slide? if you got 1080p support, you can use that mode. Otherwise don't try it.

No I'm using the mytouch 4g with the virtuous doubleshot Rom from evilD. I tried the apk you gave me and it installed but the front camera still doesn't work. Not to Sound like a noob but I'm using the xda app and I don't see a way to hit the thanks button

So if you want an error free rom, then try virtuous unity 2.37 .
It's much better than doubleshot.

Eh.. I use vds 116 and ffc works fine for me without any mods. Try doing a full wipe and reflashed.

Can anyone help or tell me why the MIUI and CM7 front facing camera like mirror flips pictures ? Sense roms dont do it, it takes just what you are viewing. Only AOSP roms flip it.

If your CM7 FFC is not working well, try updating the kernel......
There is some problems with the cam on MIUI, lets hope then to rectify in the new updates....

I don't think anyone is questioning the validity of you wanting a different camera. I believe BrettApple is asking what you don't like about the CM camera because knowing this information could help people make better recommendations.
Maybe you want more special effect options
Maybe you want a different shutter mode
Depending on what you are looking for, people will be able to make better recommendations.
I've personally used CM7 stock cam, MIUI cam on CM7, Vignette (a market app), and Camera Zoom FX (a market app).
These days I just use the stock CM7 cam for most stuff. I occasionally fire up the MIUI cam so I can take advantage of the burst shutter mode. I don't have any other cameras currently installed.
So does anyone have a link to the miui cam? And would I flash it or install it with root explorer?

If you are having reboot issues, I believe that turning off the AutoFocus will resolve. Some people seem to experience it more than others: I have no idea why.
If you disable AutoFocus, touch-to-focus still works.
I use the mini camera without any problems on cm7. I like it better than the stock for the versatility in settings. Is very easy to add.

Is this possible? I really like the sense camera for the edit effects. A good photo effect app would be just as appreciated

No. Every main Sense app is tied to framework blah blah blah, anyway HTC has it fixed so the apps depend on Sense as a whole...There's no picking this or that out, none of that, on touch wiz people have hacked the apps but that's different. Just use another camera app like fx, lg, etc...

Set the CM7 camera to 4MP wide if that's what you really want. All it's doing is slightly zooming in, so you're actually getting slightly worse picture quality.

The Changelog says, the Camera is not working on some devices. But thank God. It's a huge step
It's working very well on my dhd. I think turning of Sound is only required for using 720p Video recording but does not affect camera.

I can't even open the camera app nor 3rd party camera apps... it simply crash or say "error opening camera"

You have to wait for an official fix, it's a kernel related problem due to the different camera chip that some dhd have.

It's very impressive for an alpha, I was happy the see the camera working and video in 720p(without audio). However at times the camera app would refuse to launch and I would have to reboot for it to work. Also I noticed my battery drained a lot faster with this ROM, is it sense related or could this be improved?
Except for video perfectly on my inspire Everything works

You have a OmniVision camera. It does not work with actual kernel.

Nope, turning sound off is required for recording a video irrespective of the resolution. I have it installed on my DHD.
