Hello,
I've noticed the battery is not lasting very long (8-10 hours advertised?) After installing vegacomb.
The battery also vanishes when it is turned off overnight.

The battery draining when on standby is a known problem i had it! it may be wifi bieing left on? also vegacomb for me struggled to show the correct battery state also a documented problem! I got into the habit of always plugging mine in when at home and not using it especialy over night same as my phone!
i picked up a dock from PC world in cheltenham. Now my Vega is a digital photo frame while its charging, also gets me in the habit of all ways charging when I am not using the device.
Also found that turning the display brightness down helped the battery usage, but yes the battery performance on Vega comb does not seem to be as good as stock. Not that I am moaning, vegacomb is by far the best rom for the Vega.
It is good to see I'm not the only one.
The problem I see is that when I turn it off, it should not use any battery at all. It's off!
Very odd.

I just ordered a viewpad 10s dock as they are supposed to be the same and couldn't find an advent one anywhere!
Brightness is also as low as possible because I only use it indoors.
I find it spends most of the day on between 7 and 8%

Be interested in this. how good it is?
I believe the battery quality is not as good as it should be therefore poor battery life in addition of issues with ROM. After all you get what you paid for
I will be able to say as soon as I get it!
It is supposed to be the same though, so should do the job!

Do you know if there are any apps that can removed?
Anything to do with phone or 3g that always run?
I'm not going to be using 3g or the like so I don't see the point in having them running.
Anyone?

i used mine the other day for purpose of work, so would use it to read docs and then write some docs, all in all it was on and being used for over 9hrs. To me that is fantastic battery life.
I'm looking forward to having the same battery life..
I cleared battery stats and to be honest with it, it's not been draining as much when turned off over the weekend.
I pretty much reflashed it over the weekend though, so that may have helped.
This weekend I've had it on for almost four hours based on what the battery use says (time since unplugged) and it is residing currently at 75%.
That's not too bad I guess!
More importantly though, I've had almost no draining while off (charged it full on Sat morning) and the battery graph is smooth, not spiked as it has been.

I built ICS AOSP and slapped it on my wifi xoom - wingray WOW the battery life is amazing .. Granted, this it with VERY minimal use (checked my email a couple times during the day and that was it, screen off,) but I've never seen anything like this ..
I almost wonder if this is a mistake and the OS battery stats are bunk lol:

I'm going on hour 48 and still have 79% battery .. only using it for brief email as I've been sitting at my desktop for the last 2 days pretty solid though ..
battery problem
Hey guys, i've upgraded my Wifi Xoom to ICS EOS Team nightly 55 and since then my battery drains like crazy while wifi is ON.
Also i think my wifi wont turn off when i lock my xoom.. i can see in battery managment that wifi bar is always blue even if screen is not.
Should i try another nightly?
i'm on cm9 and the battery life is fine .. i haven't tried eos yet so i won't be much help .. does cpu spy(market) show your proc as sleeping?
Cpu seems to be in deep sleep while xoon is locked..
I've always had a great battery life with my xoom except when I used Netflix on HC, either stock rom or tiamat. If I was able to get 5h00 of netflix out of a fully charged battery I was happy. Now with the ICS EOS rom I get at least 7h00 + some browsing time. It made a huge difference.
from the very first day i bought my xoom whenever i select the sleep when screen turn off option from the WiFi it changes back to never and now m using ICS still have the same issue still can get 2 to 2 and a half day with the issue
Battery life seems about the same of Honeycomb to me. But I have the Xoom since Christmas and I switched to EOS nightlies very soon.
With heavy use I always have about 8 hours of screen on.
Now I have 27% after 2d 19h 26m with light use: mails, some internet navigation, some pdf, wi-fi always on during the day
THis is my battery usage.. afte one day the battery is at 6% with only 2-3 hours playing some games (without wifi or cpu High usage).
Look what happens when wifi and screen is on!
I'm on EOS nightly 59. In 1 day 18 hours mine has 9hrs of usage in Android OS. But I've really only used my Xoom for aboutn1 hour and 20 mins. Strange.
got 23 days of standby almost 0 use on stock honeycomb
running the same usage test on stock ICS
14 days and Im at 58% which would mean a rather sizable improvement if it holds true on a full discharge.
Hi! I recently got a Nexus 7 and I am somewhat disappointed in the battery life. I am only getting around 3 hrs of battery life and is draining quickly while idle. The battery is also draining while being used while connected to my pc. I am using Jellybro rom along with Trinity Alpha 64. Can anyone recommend the best Rom/Kernel combination for battery life ? I read that Trinity is great for battery life so I'm doubting the Rom (however it works great on my Galaxy Nexus). As I dont always use the same things on my tablet I cant really test the different roms myself.
Thanks

I'm getting great battery life on my stock N7 :|
I tried it the other day, used it all day and it died after around 8-9hrs. Was tethering via bluetooth, brightness set to auto, and either played games, used FB messenger, or read Wall St Journal frequently throughout the day.
Sync and location enabled.
Oh and the N7 will probably discharge faster than your PC can charge it. Typical USB ports on a PC only output .5A of power. Chargers meant for tablets usually provide about 2A of power. So thats another issue.
Might I suggest running the N7 till it shuts itself off due to no battery, then letting it sit and charge overnight till its 100%?

If its enough to make you mad then its prolly not right.
To say your doing in wrong would be a far shot but your tablet is definitely doing it wrong..lol. I was just saying the other night to my girl that I was super happy with the battery because it lasts all day for me. From 7am in the morning till 12 at night. Of course im not using it every waking moment but I do check it/use it as much as I would have normally used my phone. During work I am on wifi till about 430 and then from 430-8/9 while im in class im tethering using it almost the whole time, then when im home for the rest of the night I will be on wifi. The things I do vary from webbrowsing (reddit, xda, etc) emailing attachments, listening to google music and GPS/texting. (yes I use tablet talk which is why I rarely use my phone anymore except to setup tethering)
If you are having any issues with your battery I recommend to get a battery app to reset the stats and try again. If not return to stock then try that method again.. then if NOT return.

Just turn off your google account auto-sync and your battery life should increase dramatically. I use the power widget to toggle sync.
Okay here are some screenshots of my battery life... Not sure if its uploading properly though since im doing this through the app.....
EDIT: Looks like it didnt work... But basically I had about 20.5hrs of total battery time. Screen on for a total of 5.5hrs. Bluetooth on the entire time, WiFi on for about 6 hours.

My N7 discharges faster than the google provided AC mains charger can recharge it. That seems pretty pathetic to me. How is it for others?
I've made a thread like this in the Sensation forums and it was quite popular so I thought I'd make one here as well, as I'm really curious how far can the Xoom really go in terms of battery life !
So the general format of how the posts should look like should be this:
Running (stock/stock+rooted/custom(name) rom) on my (model).
Here is a picture (insert battery life screen shot).
I'm (undervolting or no undervolting)
PS: Make sure you don't charge your xoom as it makes the results invalid and useless!
OK! My turn:
I'm running Stable EOS 3 custom rom on my MZ604 WiFi only Xoom.
Here is a picture of my battery results:
online photo sharing
And this one:
image
No undervolting was done.
The only question left is, can you beat me?!
I usually don't take pictures of stuff like this, so next time when I get over a week of usage on my XOOM I will post it here. I should note I put it in airplane mode and have the WiFi and bluetooth on all the time, though I believe the WiFi does turn off after the device goes into sleep. It's a MZ601, uses Team EOS nightly builds always on the latest. Stock speeds and yeah.

The only part really worth posting is the screen on time.
This damn thing can literally go weeks technically "on" because there is practically no battery drain when its "asleep."

In some ways that is true. However, what if somebody just charged it to 100% and played with it non-stop, so that the screen on time went to 12 hours. You say,"That's amazing". But some people don't have the time to play with them for 12 hours straight So the overall time adds towards the actual battery life, since it still loses some battery life during the sleep or the night. Take me for example, I play with it 3 hours a day and can go for as long as 2 days before charging it again.
I've said this before, but I'll say it again. This tablet is amazing !
With regards,
Beston94
Here are some pictures:
As I stated before I don't use my XOOM much, but I did use it a lot for music streaming to my bluetooth headphones and also watched a movie on it. Lol

Hey all
I've been having massive issues with my battery life recently, it's never been great however it's actually gotten a lot worse post Kit Kat. I've taken a few screenshots on a few different apps like GSam Monitor, Wakelock detector and Battery Widget, I was wondering if somebody could help me diagnose the issue. Or at least just give me general insights into the numbers that I'm getting in terms of battery life.
EDIT: Just noticed a new issue where a couple of times my battery was somewhere in the 40's and then the phone crashes and when I start it back again it just has about 2 % battery left. Weirdly enough, after charging it for a couple of minutes, that battery now goes up to 30%. Would love to know if somebody has had a similar issue and what might be a way to go about trying to find some sort of solution.

same battery issue here. Its not because software. i tryed CM11m11, Ubuntu Touch, stock.. same problem. Im waitting new battery, because i was not that gentle with batteru when i was repalcing camera 15 days ago.
Usualy moment before phone restart, lose sim signal, then freeze and restart
If flashing stock doesn't resolve it, I'd say the battery is dying. I went from 2 hours between charges to 12-14 with a new battery.

My battery is also dying (switched to new phone now). It averages about 1 hour of SOT over several days and it's only wifi only. I guess I could swap out a fresh one but it goes to show that we need easily removable batteries but they just don't last that long.

Did your battery life return to "normal"? Not that the Nexus 4 ever had great usage time. I might attempt it myself as a challenge.

Around 3-4 hours when my Bluetooth, mobile data(3G) and gps is on. But I can't tell it exactly cause I'm not using it that much anymore cause my primary phone is the N5.
I replace battery, now everithing works perfect. It was battery problem, not software.
I've been waiting for my battery to die. This is my normal use. I just do what I normally do.

Damn... Going beast mode with this battery. Would've gone longer, but gotta use it more tomorrow when I'm out. Ya, I know I only have 4hrs of SOT. Haven't been using much
I assume anyone getting more than 48 hours of battery life is turning off data, or at least disabling updates/background data. Just out of curiosity, do you always keep that turned off, or do you just do that when you're seeing how much you can squeeze out of the battery? In my mind, the big reason to get a device with a big battery is so you don't have to baby the battery like that.

I disable data and auto sync. I've done this for every phone I've ever owned. Not to preserve battery life, but I have no need to have it on 24/7. I turn it on when I need it.
