ICS Battery Life .. wow - Xoom General

I built ICS AOSP and slapped it on my wifi xoom - wingray WOW the battery life is amazing .. Granted, this it with VERY minimal use (checked my email a couple times during the day and that was it, screen off,) but I've never seen anything like this ..
I almost wonder if this is a mistake and the OS battery stats are bunk lol:

I'm going on hour 48 and still have 79% battery .. only using it for brief email as I've been sitting at my desktop for the last 2 days pretty solid though ..

battery problem
Hey guys, i've upgraded my Wifi Xoom to ICS EOS Team nightly 55 and since then my battery drains like crazy while wifi is ON.
Also i think my wifi wont turn off when i lock my xoom.. i can see in battery managment that wifi bar is always blue even if screen is not.
Should i try another nightly?

i'm on cm9 and the battery life is fine .. i haven't tried eos yet so i won't be much help .. does cpu spy(market) show your proc as sleeping?

Cpu seems to be in deep sleep while xoon is locked..

I've always had a great battery life with my xoom except when I used Netflix on HC, either stock rom or tiamat. If I was able to get 5h00 of netflix out of a fully charged battery I was happy. Now with the ICS EOS rom I get at least 7h00 + some browsing time. It made a huge difference.

from the very first day i bought my xoom whenever i select the sleep when screen turn off option from the WiFi it changes back to never and now m using ICS still have the same issue still can get 2 to 2 and a half day with the issue

Battery life seems about the same of Honeycomb to me. But I have the Xoom since Christmas and I switched to EOS nightlies very soon.
With heavy use I always have about 8 hours of screen on.
Now I have 27% after 2d 19h 26m with light use: mails, some internet navigation, some pdf, wi-fi always on during the day

THis is my battery usage.. afte one day the battery is at 6% with only 2-3 hours playing some games (without wifi or cpu High usage).
Look what happens when wifi and screen is on!

I'm on EOS nightly 59. In 1 day 18 hours mine has 9hrs of usage in Android OS. But I've really only used my Xoom for aboutn1 hour and 20 mins. Strange.

got 23 days of standby almost 0 use on stock honeycomb
running the same usage test on stock ICS
14 days and Im at 58% which would mean a rather sizable improvement if it holds true on a full discharge.

Since google introduced voice calling in Gmail, I haven't been using my phone too much xcept for reading engadget/gizmodo/lifehacker/bgr blogs and browsing xda in bed for an hour or two just before going to sleep. Occasionally I would watch one anime episode (or more, depending on my mood) using VLC Stream & Convert as well. This is what I'm getting:

... and here's the setup (1500mAh OEM, no battery conditioning + no SetCPU/Tasker/etc whatsoever):
Now I can finally say that HTC Evo is officially better than my old Touch Pro in every way possible. Previously TP would last only ~24hrs, even if wasn't using it at all. Evo on the other hand will last for days when its "sleeping". Android's power management at its best
PS: under constant use the battery life is a completely different story. Max LCD brightness w/out timeout + stream DI.fm w/ XiiaLive wasted the battery in just 3:55 . So the conclusion we can draw here is, if you want long battery life - don't use the phone

61 hours, well that's not bad, i have that beat with over 72 hours, lol, and your right to get it to last that long you have to pretty much use it alot less then normal.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780583
i went 3 days 12 hours and 46 minutes on a single charge, that is with using the stock battery and a regular wall charger, yes i'm rooted and i used setcpu to set my frequency to 614 when screen on, and 245 when screen off, at night when i go to sleep i put the phone into airplane mode, and overall usage was cut back to light to moderate usage, i was trying to see how long i could actually go on the stock battery, and i must admit i'm very impressed.

did you use OEM battery or an aftermarket/extended one? mine was the 1500mAh OEM that came with the phone. also, i didnt use airplance mode so maybe that's why i could reach 3-day battery life...

that was on the factory battery, i have a extended one that i'm going to try this on next time i drain the battery low, so i can start fresh over again and see how long i can go then, lol.

i just wanna know where you got those sweet power and volume widget bars.
SwitchPro Widget for the top two widget strips, and AudioManager Pro the the 3rd audio settings strip.

What is this wizardry? Insanely good battery life.

The image speaks for itself, but I'll add some info. I have a SetCPU profile for screen off that sets it to 245 min and max, and I haven't been using the phone hardly at all the past two days. Wifi has been on the entire time.
Normally, after 8 hours of light use, my phone would be dead with Android System taking up about 40% of the battery, and the three radio entries taking up about 16% each.
I've been using CyanogenMod 6.1.1 since the day it came out, with it's built-in kernel, not Pershoot's. I've done nothing else custom. The only thing that I can correlate with this change in battery life is a new version of SetCPU came out a couple days ago.
Or maybe it's just an unrelated fluke, and tomorrow whatever battery-eating bug exists in the system will rear its ugly head again. I dunno. All I know is I've never seen battery life like this on my G2.
101% yaaaaay I can add

Screen not even registering as using any?
most of my usage is screen for 60%+ (maybe 2 hrs on)
and 15~18 hours tops!
You still geting great battery life I have the same setup and battery life is average not as good as 6.1
I do not mean to highjack your thread but I have a question. For the cell standby power consumption, what is registered as the amount of time with no signal? I am in a full HSPA+ area and it still tells me that 50% of the time my phone has no signal, how is that possible? Thank you for your responses.
I managed 56 or 59 hours once and the display wasn't on the list either. I mentioned this in another thread but it was generally ridiculed and dismissed
i lose about 50% of battery with hspa on during a 8 hour shift. Of course random facebook and texting is going on.
I noticed an improved battery life with the unofficial Gingerbread builds. Did Google finally get it right?

That has been my experience, though I'm still stuck using the stock HTC sense since I updated to 1.72 before rooting.
Whenever I check battery use, the Display is ALWAYS the highest consumer, by a large margin. I usually see 60-70% Display, and the cell standby, etc are only a few percent. Now I'm really upset I can't root it for the forseeable future.
Did you just not ever touch the phone at all? I mean, the display isn't even listed!!?!?
As I said, I was barely using the phone at all.
Right now I'm at 95% after 10 hours of non-use. I don't remember this ever being possible in the past.
Even when I actively use the phone (at least in the past) Display would never be very high. Android System was always #1 with the radios beneath that, and Display somewhere around 6%, as I recall.
In the time it took me to write this post mostly in Swype, I lost 2% so my crazy battery life seems limited to the screen being off (with the corresponding very low cpu speed). Still, it's never been this good before.
lol the title is hilarious just had to say

I bet the lcd being not used plus wifi instead of 3G is the reason. Plus, I think it's witchery not wizardry, lol! Maybe both... whatever they are both hilarious! Ah, the days of yore!

battery life

Just thought I'd give a quick review of Cyanogen Mod 7 battery life and performance.
Standby battery drain of about 1.5%/hr with 3G, backround data on, auto-sync on, wifi on, GPS on.
I've never obtained such great battery life on any stock rom or stock-modified rom (I've tried a few different ones over the last year or so)
The performance is also much better than any of the stock-based roms (no lags).
No need to create new topic for that information.
fan/zombie boys everywhere
aple has ones so why not android ;]
Which nightly are you using? Which kernel?
After a night my Galaxy S is always dead. I solved the problem disabling 3g connection and sync. Stock rom 2.3.3 and semaphore kernel.

Sorry to say but useless thread. Just keep the damn charger always near you and battery life wont matter.
Btw did cyanogen pay you for posting this?or........
haha I had the same thought
I used to always hear about CM7 having god-awful battery life. I don't know if people were lying or if they fixed some major bugs, but I certainly have no complaints about my phone's battery life (running CM7, of course). I get through way more than a day.

That's my current battery stats. Haven't used the phone too much the last little while, but getting over 24 hours is not uncommon—I actually very rarely see my phone last for under 24 hours, and that's usually because of 5+ hours of screen on time. For that battery, I'd say about 75 texts, 30 minutes of phone calls, and about 30-60 minutes of web browsing. Fairly light use, but nevertheless, the battery life on CM7 is nothing to complain about.
EDIT: Looks like something was causing a wakelock the last ~6-8 hours while I was asleep, causing my phone not to deep sleep. If that hadn't of happened, it would still have quite a bit more battery (when I went to bed it was 44%, so it shouldn't have dropped to 27%—it should have dropped to ~40%). This just proves my point even more: battery life on CM7 is not bad at all.
seriusly?
do you see any battery change in that period compared to one earlier ))
when it was awake on your funny screenshot it was discharging with the same when the phone was not awake acordding to that stats so no impact registered
Thanks to share that information...

Currently at 2 days 1hr 15 mins with 14% remaining.
Wipes the floor with friends phones on stock roms charging every night. I only switched toCM7 after darkyrom barely lasting 12 hours at times

This sounds fantastic, Cm7.1 is my next choice, on XXJVT battery life is only 12h
thats using juicedefender to activate the data connection when screen turns on, emails still push to phone straight away with gmail so it is fine for me.
WIFI seems to drain the battery a bit quicker but not enough for me to bother flashing different kernels
I saw someone who did 2 WEEKS without charging. Normal using with black wallpaper on 2g network.
seems to be even better on ics... the best i had was ~2% per 8 hours...
3G + WiFi + email max 1 day

That's good. Might be a glitch though if your battery is not calibrated. I had an issue when my N1 was showing over 20% and then shut off. When I turned it back on, it showed 0% and turned itself off. Try to discharge it all the way and see it if will shut off before it hits 0%. I would do it as a precautionary measure just to make sure that your phone doesn't die unexpectedly when you need it most.
nice battery life mate
I have calibrated battery and it lasts around 12 hours with fairly good usage.
But my mobile shuts down when battery at 15 %.
Do I need to calibrate it again?

This will not help. I have calibratet again and again. I'm using the medroidmod ics 1.4.0.

what are you guys using to calibrate for your battery? Mine used to turn off around 20-25% remaining but after I reset the battery stats its been more accurate. I get nowhere near the same amount of battery life that the OP has but I also am in a bad reception area.
I'm on the MeDroid HWA Mod and I cannot believe thatmy battery lasts for about two days now.
Do you really recalibrate or do you use the function out of your recovery, which function is busted meanwhile?!

Would like to find out about this battery calibration as well. Battery life on my N1 hasn't aged well, and I wonder if the batt's showin its age or something.
Mine isn't that good
I'm on latest MedroidMod but my battery drops fast with screen on and wifi but data off. It's like 20% each 25mins. But ICS is so sweet and cool that I don't wanna go back to the buttersmooth GB.
P/s: Which home launcher are you using/do you recommend to run on ICS?
My battery life seems to have improved slightly as well. I guess the complete redesign Google did, has done some good
wow its amazing
I'm running medroidmod remix and I'm happy when I make the day with one charge.
When my screen is on you can almost see my battery discharge.
With texice i had a huge drain (10% per hour), with medroid it was a little bit better but not nearly as good as with cm7.2RC1 now.
I've also finally updated radio to 5.08 yet.
58% at 12 hr's moderate usage on dk's rom (u5).

Normally Ive never had a problem with the battery, ive lasted about a day and a half on moderate use, but with the latest version of BCM U5, when my phone goes idle for a while it starts to drop significantly, i'm not sure why its staying on other than I might have gotten a notification and it decided to stay awake
DK ICS latest update has a really awesome battery life, as well as a very good performance. recommended ROM 100% =)

Damn... Going beast mode with this battery. Would've gone longer, but gotta use it more tomorrow when I'm out. Ya, I know I only have 4hrs of SOT. Haven't been using much
I assume anyone getting more than 48 hours of battery life is turning off data, or at least disabling updates/background data. Just out of curiosity, do you always keep that turned off, or do you just do that when you're seeing how much you can squeeze out of the battery? In my mind, the big reason to get a device with a big battery is so you don't have to baby the battery like that.
