" We've been hearing about Qualcomm's next generation of 2.5GHz processors for a few months now,but the company's quad-core future has now become a little bit clearer. Speaking at the Innovation Qualcomm event in Istanbul yesterday,Senior Vice President of Product Management Cristiano Amon confirmed that the chipmaker's S4 line of silicon will be shipped to manufacturers by the end of this year and should appear in consumer products by the beginning of 2012. Available in single-,dual- or quad-core models,the new,28nm additions to the Snapdragon family will also support Adreno graphics,3D and 1080p HD,in addition to 3G and LTE connectivity. If all goes according to schedule,then,we could see a slate of S4-equipped handsets at next year's Mobile World Congress in February,though we'll try to contain our excitement until we get a more specific launch date. No i get my epic 4g touch monday and if i like what comes out next year,i'll just buy it full price.Unlike most people i have money to buy a new phone lol.

My Epic stays on line 1 until the Prime or whatever the next big thing is comes along. Line 2, I think at least, will most likely stay the ET4G for a while. It should be future-proof for a good year. I am still plenty happy with the Epic. If I wasn't actually saving money on my monthly bill, I would stay put with only the Epic for a while but 2 toys should be fun...

Yeah, I got rid of my 3G USB Internet POS and am putting the ET4G on second line. My bill will be $40 a month cheaper so I can't resist...on my way to Sprint store now

Potentially. Whatever the circumstance he likely doesn't have any of the following:
Kids, house, car payment, student loans, utilities bills, a girl friend, a dog, a commute, a coke addiction, a hooker addiction, a high heel fetish, a hot rod, a boat, dirt bikes, or any number of other expensive items.
And if not, kudos to him (except the no girlfriend and dog thing).

Is it just me or are you in the same boat? There have been a lot of great phones shown recently but for some reason my evo is imho the best phone I have ever laid eyes upon...
This rant is for all the evo enthusiasts! I am not going to debate anyone about any particular phone because I could care less.. don't even care about your thoughts on Sprints service; I love it by the way.
I wake up and turn over and there she is, always right beside me. Sometimes in between me and my wife but I love her! She has so many different costumes: ROMs, that I change them like I change my work socks. Every couple days, lol... I just want to thank everyone at xda for making my phone the 3rd best thing to happen to me, my wife and my first blow job are 1 and 2 ,in no particular order...

I agree Craig. My wife, unfortunately, is still lamenting the day I started hacking my vogue, and it got ten times worse when the Evo came. No phone jealousy yet for me either, still quite pleased with my Evo.

The primary reason I love my Evo so much is the developer support. Next to the Nexus One, this phone has got to have the most custom development going on for it. CyanogenMod, MIUI, Honeycomb (pre-alpha, but it still exists), etc. Sure, some of the newer phones like the Motorola Atrix or the upcoming Galaxy S II handily defeat the Evo in terms of specs, but you can't completely modify the software on those devices to meet your needs.
HTC made a smart decision by leaving this device completely open to development. Because of that, we'll still be ahead of the curve much sooner than these new superphones.
Now, if the Evo 2 is announced sometime soon, then that's another issue entirely .

My thoughts exactly, its not the evo, but the capabilities and constant development that comes with it. I don't know what a "evo2" would be like but I sure don't see myself leaving this evo anytime soon.

i have to use my upgrade or i loose it in two days. would the evo shift be a huge downgrade to my evo? im asking because there are no other worthy upgrades right now on sprint.

even used i can easily get $300 each for both evo's. that should be more than enough for the nexus s.
Its a great phone for replacing my Hero. My EVO or my Epic, the Shift wouldn't of stood a chance.

Just use the upgrade sell a phone and put out in a bank. Wait 10 months to get the evo 3d with a mature development. EVO was boring first 4 months.

I bought one for a friend of mine and helped him root/rom it. I actually loved the keyboard, felt great to me. In fact, I haven't used many slide out KB phones, but the only one I've used better than it is on my Arrive.
Which brings up the point, why not grab an Arrive Fixx? I've had tons of fun with mine so far, and you'd have the best of both worlds OS wise.

Definitely. Sad thing to see HTC do, but the rooting community is only a small portion of sales so I doubt our impact will be felt.

nah... i decided against the arrive after seeing many mixed reviews. as far as evo3d i hate the look of it. the nexus s will for sure be my next phone. im debating if i will get the shift tonight or tomorrow. ill be ordering it on best buy online and pick it up in the store.

True, nexus s is in my future I guess. My upgrade isn't until September of this year, by the time I get my nexus it might be pushing itself to be outdated I believe. Hopefully other phones will be around. Have fun with your shift I hear that thing can definitely hold its own.

Yeah, no doubt that Rose was most deserving of the MVP award, and obviously without him the Bulls wouldn't be anywhere near where they finished. And his shooting has improved leaps and bounds and the only reason he finished with such a low shooting percentage was because he had to take damn near all the shots. His 3 point shot was through the roof in terms of last year, and he made more 3's during the regular season that Jordan ever had in any season. But as a 3rd year player, and as a leader, it's hard to ignore his improvements and contributions to the team. He did lead them to the best record in the NBA as well. No small accomplishment for a 3rd year guard.
Bulls have a solid team, if not THE MOST solid team in the league, but you can clearly see that he is their only hope. BUT, his playoff play has been so up and down and their constant struggles show that. 2 points in both of the last 4th quarters? Wow. Doesn't hurt that Boozer was basically non existent for most of the games and Korver can't seem to get going. All throughout the year people knew the Bulls needed a solid second scorer, it's more obvious now than ever.
And, without a doubt, winning teams always have multiple components and multiple 'stars,' but it was never quite on the level that this was. It's apparent that these guys were going to go to Miami and join forces with Wade. They made a mockery of the whole process. And the whole parade and joke of it all? Man, that was some sad ****.

Lebron had the most upside in the world at the time. He shouldn't have left a team to become the 2nd favorite on a team. That will always be dwades team before his which will stain his legacy. I agree.....D. Rose is only getting better. His shooting percentage is low because of three point shots....he actually shot 45% from the field from within the arc which is respectable. Yea, he made 128 threes because he took 300 shots from back there. Yea, he took the Bulls to a 60+ win season in 2-3 years and it took MJ seven years.....I'm not about to call him better than or even the next MJ just yet, though. As a Bulls fan, I would be very excited to have him on my squad. I don't think you're gonna win tonight, though.
As far as "not one not two" etc: C'mon, man....he's been arrogant since day one. In every press conference he's ever held he's been arrogant. Everyone seems to forget that his "decision" brought 6 figures towards charities.....he didn't pocket any money from that. Maybe the Cavs owner should have been courting all the mega-stars that were available that year (including Wade, Bosh & Boozer) instead of crossing their fingers that LBJ wouldn't leave his hometown.
I would like to see how any other city would have reacted to getting 3 megastars on one of their teams.....I bet it would have been very similar to what happened here. Excitement, parting, trash talking, etc. It's part of being a fan.

That's the whole thing: LeBron had been the "team favorite" for a while. Winning was more important to him than that......obviously. He wanted to come to Miami and play with his boy D. Wade and win rings.
Plus, with all the fake, fair-weather Miami fans, he's hardly a #2 here. You see as many #6 jerseys in the crowd as #3. The fact remains the he has the #1 selling jersey in the world, and most people LOVE him regardless. People have a short term memory when it comes to these things. His "legacy" will be just fine. If not, he will always have his rings to console him.

as much as i dislike the whole 3d trend, i would recommend looking into what it takes to flash and customize a samsung phone. i hear it is not an easy or fun thing to do.
as long as htc sticks to their word, i'm going with the evo 3d and will just never use the 3d.

No it won't. All of the shouting that led to htc unlocking their bootloaders was overwhelmingly over the evo 3d. It will certainly be unlocked.

Well I jumped ship and got myself a EVO 3d. Made sense to upgrade this phone for only 50 bucks out of pocket.
Was able to give them back my EVO 4g for 150 bucks and I had an upgrade and only paid a grand total of 49.99 plus taxes!
Thanks everyone for the help with my EVO 4g. I even traded in my phone with the Synergy Root still in effect lol
I still can't validate giving up root/AOSP to get an upgrade.
I'd rather wait the little while and see what my options are.
Hope it turns out well for you though, you definitely bought it for a nice price.
Guess you won't be getting the Evo2 when it lands..you'll be in a tangled contract with your 3D....doh! Lol

That phone is for other countries, what was it Korea?
It wouldn't make any sense for Sprint to have two phones the exact same but one doesn't have the 3D (which can be turned off on the phone they do have)
Its more likely there will be an Evo shift 2 and another Evo in summer '12.

This is exactly what I keep thinking when people keeping bringing up the EVO4G+, first of all, it makes almost absolutely no sense that Sprint would bring a phone so similar to the 3D to market.
Second of all, why not just get the EVO3D if you want to upgrade? Just because the camera is 8 megapixels on the EVO4G+ does not mean it will be better in the least. It will likely lead to photos with more noise, if anything.
Is the 3D screen really that much a detractor? Do people not realize that viewing 3D content is entirely voluntary and optional?
These EVO4G+ misconceptions really need to die.

The EVO is a great buy at $99. I bought it last year and now have the 3D. With everything that can be done through rooting it runs like a champ and dev community is still supporting it fully.

I get upgrades every year so it doesn't matter to me whats coming out next. I have multiple phones on my account too.
My main reason was the battery life, I have heard and read it is way better than the Evo 4g which I can already tell it is.
IMO the evo 3d is superior to the evo 4g there both 4g phones. And yes the Evo 4g is still a good buy espcially for 99.99 Give it some time and the developers will get some awesome roms and mods out for the 3D.

I honestly just think it's aesthetically unappealing. The lack of a kickstand is also a downgrade to me.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great phone as is, but just not worth an upgrade imo. All it has to offer that the OG EVO can't do is 3d.

The EVO is a great buy. There are two types of people buying the EVO 3d.
1. People who are falling for the gimmicky 3d feature.
and
2. People who just want bleeding edge technology.
As of right now and for at least another year, there isn't a thing the OG Evo can't do.
It has one of the largest dev support and is overall just a great phone. I'd however try to get the EVO off contract because in another year or so there's probably going to be something legitimately worth an upgrade.
