[Q] HD2 touch screen non responsive/flashed - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I flashed (NAND()my HD2 a while back with the first built by DFT. worked like a charm for a few months. it was stuck on the locked screen, i flashed it back to stock it was working perfectly again. so i flashed back to the desire, it worked for about a day and stopped responding again on a lock screen. any one have this type of issue and is there a fix?

Mine did this a couple of months back, did exactly as you did with swapping the roms until finally it died even with stock rom wasnt brave enough to try replacing digi myself so sent it to repairmydevice (cant post links yet cos im a virgin ) can highly recommend them.

i think its a hardware problem

Keyboard slides, screen dies

Hey Folks
Thought i would share this with u ( sorry if mentioned before did do a search ).
On friday morning X1 was working sweet as per usual. Got to about lunch time (finished work early in the pub lol) and my X1 started playing up.
Was using my X1 as normal and received a txt flipped out the keyboard then all of a sudden my screen cut out. Put it back to portrait mode and pushed the power button twice and the screen came back. Tried again in landscape and the same thing happened screen just went.
So i thought i have got a couple of rom images on my sd card i will try flashing with a different rom. Anyway tried that same thing happened. Put the phone back in to bootloader and tested again same thing happened again so i knew then this was a hardware problem.
Anyway took it back to O2 store saturday morning and they sent it off for repair ( lets hope it comes back ok).
Just thought i would share my dissapointment.
Scott
P.S. this was 1 of the very 1st X1's that came out i got it in november....
Well just got my X1 back but my old 1 was non repairable so they gave me a brand new handset
What a bonus lol
Just thought i would share..
hey i just experienced the same problem....i have a question for you...i have flashed itje's touch-it 7 rom...should reflash the stock rom to take it for repair so that the guarantee is valid or just take it to the shop as it is??
Definately put the official ROM and Hard-SPL back on.
crabby
how can i do that?can you plz give me a link or sthg..
i'd say your problem was not software but hardware, maybe opening the keyboard unplugged somehow the wire that connects the screen to the phone. repair center should just have had to change that wire to fix the problem.
lucky you.
Just to let you all know i gave my phone back to o2 with a winmo 6.5 rom on it and nothing was said....

Touch hd major problem with the screen

OK, here what's the deal: a few days ago I cracked the screen, so I bought a new one and replaced it. BUT, now the phone does not recognize it and the screen doesn't turn on at all. The phone boots and it's working fine, I can recieve calls normaly, but the screen is dead. ALSO, the volume keys stoped functioning...
Any ideas please? I'm getting kinda desperate here...
Tnx
You probably messed up somwhere in your wiring. Open it back up and make sure everything is intact. Check out some guides online to make sure everything is in the proper place.
Allready done that, everything is in place...I do have a cooked ROM thought I can't remember which since my screen is not working, obiveously...Could it be tha I nedd to switch back an original ROM for it to be able to recognize the new hardware??? And is there an app that would allow me to monitor phones activity over PC???
No, A cooked rom wont affect a screen replacement in anyway.
I repaired mine while KWBR's Topix 6.5 was on the handset, infact Ive never had this handset on a stock rom, so it wont make a difference or help you.
Did you buy your Screen and Digitizer factory pre-assembled, the small price difference compared to buying the part standalone is worth every cent in preventing these sorts of after repair problems.

[Q] HTC Legend Touchscreen Problem

hi,..
i own a HTC legend with A1 (Austria) Branding and made a 2.2 Over the air update. when i started to use it i thought that it would be faster but this has now rly changed.
Last thursday i could use my legend properly but then - 2 hours later the touchscreen didn't work any more .
i tried to unlock it but only the right side of the TS worked.
so i already tried some of the tips of some threads of XDA like hardreset , refreshing the update , and now it is a bit more useable , so i can slide the homescreen pages on different points but i cant start apps with touching..
Does anyone have a solving for this problem ?
I have no idea if the froyo update is responsible for this but I have the same problem. The top part of the screen is no longer responsive. I cannot slide the notification bar down and sometimes crazy things happen on the screen without tapping anywhere. This makes the phone practically unusable until I reboot and it usually works for some time even though the top part is not responding (notification or letter 'q' when in landscape).
Can I try something or I have to visit service? I cannot find the link where they explain how to change the refresh rate as you mention could you please provide it? also I found a couple of other threads dealing with similar problems and it looks like there is no solution am I correct ?
thanks
same thing happened to my Legend. After two months, the thing appeared, next few days all was good. Another two months and it came back. I had to send for service: they DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG and DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, anyway, after they sent it back to me, it's working again (until now, which is almost another two months)
My guest: there's some weird thing with the range/sensitivity of the touch screen, maybe a problem of the screen being magnetically/electronically charged without being discharged (as it should), after a while (e.g. a week) the problem disappears.
I far as I know, there's no solution. I have even found a clip on youtube (search for 'htc legend touch screen problem' or something) describing the same situation, maybe you should take a look there to for a abetter description of the case.
Anyone, please, if you know a way out of this, please, post it!
I have the same problem, the top notification bar cannot be pulled down in portrait and in all orientations I cannot use the touchscreen near the HTC logo. Mine is an unbranded and the problem just started this morning. I am running a custom rom from here and have been running the same one for a while so I don't believe the ROM is responsible.
Edit after using multitouch visible test from the market, it turns out I can't get a response that is higher than pixel 57 vertically.
I have already sent mine for service under warranty. I hope everything turns out well, because I really like my legend (form factor/design/specs). After the slow down I experienced with the froyo upgrade this problem came to spoil all these months of happiness. I will keep you posted.
EDIT:
I got my Legend back from service 3 days ago and everything looks fine at the moment. I hope that my bad froyo experience has ended.
According to the documents I received they just performed a ‘software upgrade’. This means that the problem was related to software. I guess some files could have been corrupted during the OTA froyo update. Maybe that also explains the sluggish froyo experience.
I can only suggest that before any critical updated a factory reset should be performed and hope for the best. I will update this thread if this serious problem with the touchscreen ever returns.
yeah i sent i to the warranty service too . But they said that the problem has mechanical reasons. So they suggested to repair it for 218(!!) Euros . -.-
I had exactly the same problem HTC have repaired it under waranty, so must have been a software issue, looks lik eits happening to quite a lot of poeple, pretty unacceptable consideringhow long it took them to release the Froyo update, not sur ethey bothered to test before releasing
Solution for screen problem ( HTC LEgend)
I had this problem also with my phone
touch screen works only for certain part of my screens
the top part where i cannot access
Solution
I change digitizer and
everything works well
only buy the digitizer from ebay and replace with the one that is not working
and everything should be fine after that
good luck
if you have question

Important info I wanted to share , will prolong HD2's life (direct from HTC)

Hey guys ,
i am using hd2 since april 2010 ....have worked a lot upon it since then ....roms ...android...wm7....and all the hell stuff ...but recently i had a problem of call dropping and and low signals ...i thought the roms had a prob ...but i was wrong ...i had to get my motherboard changed ...why??? because flashing of ROMS with the sim card inside corrupts and damages hd2 RMX on the antenna and motherboard ..This is what the HTC guy told me !
SO anytime u flash a rom ..first remove the sim card and then do it ...,it will help u in avoiding problems in ur fone later on !
hope u follow it
any other questions ...u can freely ask about it
regards,
Preet singh (coolbeer1990)
MMMMMMMM i wonder, personally ive flashed tons of WINMO and Android ROM's (just Android thesedays) and more often than not ive left my SIM card in and i cant say ive ever had any of the problems you've had, have had my HD2 since March 2010!!
ive had mine since nov09 and have alaywas left the sim card in when flashing, i think proably took it out for the first month or two when flashing winmo roms but i havent bothered since

u may or may not see the after affect ...chances are like only 30 - 40% ....but it is advised to remove the sim card
my history of htc hd2 repairs in warranty
1.phone screen malfunctioning........ screen changed
2.screen change lead to improper assembling leading to motherboard problem...motherboard changed
3.motherboard changing lead to proximity sensor not working anymore ...my phone was replaced
4.replaced phone experencing hanging problems ..again motherboard changed
5. broke my phones screen , got the screen changed but out of warranty
6.again proximity sensor stopped working ...changed body ,changed motherboard again
7.proximity sensor still not working, changed proximity sensor crystals and the chasis
8.problem resolved but the guy also changed the lcd to AUO version which lags with android
9.got my lcd changed again to SHARP ..android lag gone but call dropping starts
10. again motherboard changed ...
now its normal
i have gone to the HTC service centre for like 35 times since i have brought the hd2 ....even after having so many problems ..i still love this phone
This is one of the most stupid things I've read here recently and unfortunately, there's more and more of it here...my advice, ignore totaly what this htc "repairman" told you, it's bullsh*t
Sent from HD2, powered by Android.
I wasted like 5 mins of my life reading this.......
Is there anyway we can get this thread closed and deleted?
I can only say 3 words... L O L!
This guy must be stupid! (the htc guy)
This is not a true info. SIM card have nothing to do with any problems what u mentioned !!!
I never had my SIM out when I flashing my phone and never had a problem. And I flashed my phone like 100 times since 2009.
Don't listen to that service guy m8
