I'm running Windows 7 on HTC HD2 and saw the Build conference from Microsoft they're allowing you to download Windows 8 has anyone investigated flashing this to a mobile device? If so can you tell me how to do it?

i highly doubt it. im no techy but the first problem that would occur, if you ask me would be the small nand .. not enough space for win 8, and running it from the sd card .. well .. ionno
It's been done on the Htc Shift here's the link. Thus far only device.

My friend, Windows 7 or Winphone 7? Please re-check. Thanks.
To be honest would have thought it would be obvious that it's windows phone 7 rather than the full OS
Get the diffrence man HTC Shift is like a laptop and HD2 is like a smartphone

A little bit of searching on this forum would have given you plenty of answers.
In short, the hardware is capable of running Windows 7, but the question remains if HTC will release an Official Upgrade for the LEO.
If not, there will probably be someone (or many) at XDA making a Windows 7 ROM.
The final version of WM7 probably won't be released until a year from now, so I'm not sure how relevant WM7 is to someone buying a phone now. The HD3 will probably be one of the first phones to run WM7.
This has been already discussed in this forum

no one will ever be able to answer this popular question. Time will tell!
Was Just wondering if windows 7 can be flashed on HTC Elf......
Windows phone 7? No
Windows 7 (OS)? No.
The elfs processor is 1/5th of the reqired CPU usage for a start, and wasn't even meant to run winmo 6.5.

elfin has only a doubled rom/ram difference, cpu is the same. besides, not that a slight difference would work
what about eclair or froyo?
does someone have cab for that?
The answer is still no. There is only android1.6 donut for the elf/elfin. Wing Linux have done a great job getting it to the state that it is in at the moment. If you want a phone that is going to run android fully then just get an android phone. The elf is a very old device now when you consider the changes to mobile phones in the last year alone.
I'm sorry to be so blunt but I don't think it will happen. And even if it does it will be very slow and you'll probably end up with a negative impression of android or winphone 7 and not want to use it. You.can get early android phones for relatively cheap now. Look at the Hero, massive.community, but again, people are moving to faster devices already.

Saying that though, there is no.reason that you can't offer a helping hand to get eclair or group ported. Wing Linux will probably welcome the help.

Hi,
Do you think it will be soon possible to avec a Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM for latests handsets runing Windows Phone 7, like HTC HD7 for instance ?
Or was it already done ?
The interest is for some corporate applications running exclusively on old 5.x / 6.x phones that will be soon unavailable on the market anymore...
Or is there already clearly hardware limitations detected ? HD2 and HD7 seem very close on a hardware characteristics...

I don't think it will work as even though the hardware is similar, it will take quite a while to port it and I don't think any of the devs want Win 6.5 on a Win 7 device.

hi i'm a new user, i have an htc rose with wm6.1 i'd like to know if someone can cook a windows mobile 7 rom. i have also an another question : the 6.5 rom is stable? are there many differences to the 6.1 one? thanks for help
as I know wm7 is only for touch screen
Indeed it is. Windows Phone 7 will NEVER come to WM smartphone devices, IE those without touchscreens.

Has anyone heard if, or tried for that matter to run, android on WP7 phones? I am fairly new to windows phones, but heard that they all could run android. Now that I am thinking about this, I have only seen it run on HTC devices. I am thinking of getting the focus tomorrow OR getting a telstra HD2, on which I know android works.
Why not just buy a new phone that already comes with Android? The DesireHD or something like that?
I want a phone with both, You know that 2 birds one stone thingy
Ah right
HTC HD2 is probably such a phone to support 2 versions of Windows OS as well as Android.
Windows phone 7 devices cannot run android yet, Windows mobile quite a few devices will have android ports.
Focus is windows phone 7, HD2 is Windows mobile 6.5
(there is a huge difference between windows phone and windows mobile)
