Guys, this is probably a dumb question, so I apologize, but how do I use setCPU with MIUI 1.9.9? I start the apk, but it doesn't get root access.
Thanks in advance.
Changelog: 10/09/11
Update to latest Miui.us release, with framework modified to support additional English locales
NOTE: In this version SuperUser doesn't automatically give root access. You need to enable it by going into the superuser app (in the tools folder), pressing the menu key, going to settings and turning on root permission.
NOTE2: Due to the change to miui.us you will need to go through and setup your google accounts again. The setup wizard will come up when you first flash it so go through this.
Change smartass2 values to work a little better
Switch to using different RIL daemon
Try different wpa supplicant
Fix animations (camera, screen on/off and screenshot)
Remove /HWUserData symlink. Access secondary sd from /mnt/emmc (let me know if this is an issue)
Note that /data/misc/wifi and the telephony database will be deleted as part of the installation to save hassles from the changed wpa supplicant. Just means that you'll have to setup your wifi networks and data apns if they're not automatically configured.
Dalvik-cache is also deleted as part of the install script so you don't have to worry about doing that separately
Btw there is x5 settings which you can adjust cpu freq.
But if you say i wanna use setccpu then you have to open superuser > settings > root access

Alright, thanks a lot guys! =)

Hey everyone. I saw that there's a whole topic on this, with some INSANE methods for enabling this. (Such as bringing something over to your computer, and what-not)
Required:
SQLite from Market
Root (SuperOneClick, z4Root, whatever)
1. Go into SQLite
2. Scroll to com.motorola.android.providers.settings (Settings Storage)
3. Tap settings.db
4. Tap settings
5. Scroll down to _id70 force_only_market_apps
6. Set the 1 in the value field to 0
Voila. Unknown Sources. All done from your phone.
That's a quick fix. So that is the only file that we need to modify? Do we need to change permissions or anything? Im waiting for the phone to get here, will try it when it get here.
The only one. No permissions needed. The SQLite app takes care of everything for you. Only turn-off some people might have is that this is a paid app.
I was able to sideload this app and edit the DB with it to allow non-market apps.
Works wonders...had been waiting forever to do this to my wife's phone...just waiting on ROM now...*excited*
I tried to use and phone said do not have permision. Yes I have root.

I was having a problem with apps that require Superuser permissions after upgrading to the @munjeni CM9 ICS rom which is otherwise fantastic. It would repeatedly ask for permission in an endless loops and none of the app-based solutions would work.
The Fix:
After opening Superuser -> Settings/Automatic response/set to Allow
Note:
This will automatically allow any application requesting root access so if you are prone to installing apks from nefarious sources, be ware or only toggle this setting right before using the desired app.
The real fix is to reinstall the SU Binary from the settings menu. Then the Superuser request works correctly again.

The major difference is that you have the ROM in zip file and the ROM is deodexed, zipaligned and the /system/app folder has been moved to /data/app and it supports init.d script support.
Majority of the difference is behind the User Interface. In terms of user interface they both look alike.
Have you restored your phone to Factory settings considering your problem?

Flashed your ROM, everything working fine with great speed and also the battery life got improved dramatically. Very nice work.
Yes, I restored to the factory settings but no success, looks like hardware fault. Tried wifix manager app from play store but still the wifi and mobile data disconnect while screen turns off.

Thanks for your positive feedback
Have you tried this?
Goto System Settings > Under Wireless and Networks Tap WLAN > press menu key and tap advanced > Tap Keep WLAN on during sleep and select always.
Now your phone won't disconnect, if this is the case.

Thank you for your suggestion. This is the first thing I have done, but wifi and mobile data sleeps automatically. I have tried stock roms from different devices like saadusmani's ROM and your ROM but nothing improved in wifi and mobile data connection. I should claim warranty.
But before that I need to unroot the phone and change the stock splash screen (screen before boot animation). Do you know how to change the splash screen to stock Qmobile screen?
Restore to stock firmware by downloading it from www.ehtisham.com or www.labandroid.com

How do I go about enabling permissions settings within touchwiz lollipop ROM main settings? I've scene it within ROMs like devbase by _alexandr and some other stock based lollipop ROMs. Sure it has something to do with features.xml but can't find it in my search's. Any help greatly appreciated.
This can only be done if rooted. There are a few options if so.
1. Download permissions manager on the android market.
2. Get a rom like cyanogen instead that already has it enabled.
3. By far the best option! Installed xposed module and then get xprivacy. Be careful because you need the correct install files to get this running nicely. Xprivacy has security features unrivaled by anything.

Though I've tried a couple of these options, I solved my issue. Thought it was a switch that could be toggled on our off through some settings file within root directory, but it was actually a mod made for _alexanr dev base ROM which modifies a system apk to display permission settings within main settings, originally made by Looki. But thank you for your response. I'm still think about xprivacy, is something I used a long time ago but does look like a strong option for managing permissions.
Android Os using data even using af wall plus or other firwall apps with root & xpose
hey i am using data with af wall plus with root & xposed
but still below apps are using data & cant restrict them ?
android OS
GOOGLE SERVICES
Please see screenshot & help me guyz !!
You sure you restricted them? Does AFWall give you any messages when you enable it? Not all kernels are suitable for this firewall - disable it and enable again to see if is applies iptables with no errors. You can also try LightningWall Xposed module as secondary firewall to make sure you've got no data leaks. Network Log (look for it in f-droid store) can also give you mire detailed look into connections your apps make, maybe they exchange data with NTP servers or something
thank you for detailed response .. i searched a lot & many people asking same that Android OS & other system apps are leaking data & no solution found yet bro !
i got a social pack from cellular company & all my credit gone due to this data leak .
i m using af wall plus & droid wall with restrict background data - but all i m getting is data leak !
can you suggest me more like which kernal i should use or any other app ???

I only use stock kernel and I know it's working fine with AFWall. CM stock kernel is also good, if you're using CM. AFWall has an option to "fix startup data leak" in Preferences > Experimental. However, init.d or su.d is needed for it to work and stock kernel don't have them AFAIK. What you can do is to remove SIM before system initial boot, because both data and wifi are enabled by default and you can't disable them until you're done with setup wizard. Also - disable data before each reboot. I'm not an expert but I believe the only way to secure yourself is making your own custom rom, that will have some extra security tweaks baked in. It's basically a question of making a script that will block all connections untill AFWall is active, so you can really controll yuor data traffic. There's an interesting discussion about such stuff on xda:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/security/tuto-how-to-secure-phone-t2960077
The said script is mentioned here:

You can try to contact @optimumpro, he's still on XDA, and I believe he knows much more than me about data leaks and things like that.

Are you sure they keep using data, or have they only used it once? After you flash new rom and boot it for the first time it will start with data enabled and use some data before you even have a chance to install and set up any firewall, but once it happens it shouldn't happen anymore if you restrict them with firewall. Check your data counters and see if they keep connecting or not. If not - remember to remove SIM card when you boot a new rom for the first time. Otherwise you'll either have a leak again or if you wanna avoid it, you'll have to mess with your rom's ramdisk prior to its installation, like it's descripted in the link I gave you in my previous post. If you set up your firewalls properly you shouldn't have any data leaks right now.

First of all, never use more than one firewall, as they will conflict. Use only Afwall. In Afwall go to Settings/Preferences/Binaries and pick builtin iptables. Also, use afwall white list and tick only the apps you want to connect to the internet for both wifi and data. All others will be denied by default...

Thanks dear
but fact is ANdroid OS is leaking data in all the way !
i have done everything but no luck bro !
Looking at the screenshot, the amount of data is really small. Once you did all the suggested solutions, did the amount increased a lot?
