Anyone got a APK of music 2.1 app that works on the latest 2.3.5? i tried a few and they just FC, much prefer the landscape cover art browser
I don't (sorry) but just in case you haven't seen some other available music players a few are here.
I'm using a rom without Sense (MIUI) - so if I try some 2.1 apks via Google - I assume I couldn't simulate your situation. What (2.3.5) rom are you using?

Assuming you are using a rooted rom, have you tried pushing the music app to /system/app using ADB? If the app is not deodexed it won't install as a regular app and will FC on you.

Hey everyone
I'm really not a fan of the SENSE ui however all the latest builds are all based off sense devices. I know I can use an alternate launcher but what about the dialer and sms app? I know I can use dialerone or handcentsms but what about the stock android dialer/sms app?
Basically. Is there a way to install the stock android dialer/sms app to a SENSE build? Is it just as simple as replacing apk's in the system/app dir? if so where can i find apks for the stock android dialer and sms app?
Thanks all. I googled but only found how to install the SENSE dialer/sms into a NON-SENSE build, not the other way around.

I admit I'm new to ROM Modding.. Recently as I experiment with some CM7 based rom.. (etc etc) I noticed that the FM radio application is bad.
1. Seeking Stations usually takes you to the maximum frequency.
2. You cannot save a lot of channels.
and so with my noobish act and stupidity I extract FM.apk from my old 2.3.3 Stock Rom nand backup. The stock FM.apk is awesome.. I mean you can search channels automatically. (unlike CM7 based FM apk's). and there are lot of channels that can be saved.
Problem: The FM.apk from Stock ROM is not installed into CM7 Roms (after normal installation, ROM integration (kitchen))
Is there a way to Port or make it work back at CM7 based Roms.
I tried to dissect the stock app but found no links to files needed.. Like an app need this dot (.) anyfile i.e. libblahblah.blah at blahblah..
Searched lib or any other folders at ROM itself and found nothing but files that notepad cannot read.
For any help I'll upload the apk later for experimentation..
Im looking for the same.. but if we want to make it work..
We need to uninstall cm radio using titanium..
Need to backup the stock fm using titanium.. i think it makes backup of all the
required files like apk.. lib.. bin and framework files.. and then try restoring it on
cm.. dont know if it works!!

> it wont work because of those .pro images if anyone noticed stock rom uses .pro not .png resources, its same as the stock camera app neither of those wont work.
p500 FM radio.apk working on my p690b
Well, just copy a FM radio.apk file from a new p500, then install on my new p690b (optimus net),....and..... it is Working perfectly!!
the only thing is just the headset always on, even you switch to audio output to speaker, then both speaker and headset
will have audio
my Optimus net (p690b) does not come with the stock fm radio.apk, just wondering if anyone has the stock fm radio.apk for
the p690 can post a link?
I know some of the p690 from different carriers, they do have a decent stock fm radio.apk
thanks!!

Here, I've zipped the stock p690 fmradio.apk with odex file too, ripped from v10c. Just unzip, move it to system, set permissions, and voila! Graphically it looks the same as the p500 one.

So that's why.. in cm based roms it dont work.. what we need is or are libs needed by the stock radio.

With logcat, you can figure out if a lib is missing, or needed by an apk. This is how I figured out, which libs were missing from blackbird rom, but needed for camera app from stock p500 rom, to fix focus problems.

I used the stock browser mainly for the quick contros, I loved them, but they aren't there anymore?
Yes. You need to install AOSP or CM Browser ... If you are rooted there is an app which do the job on playstore (AOSP Browser)

Ok, thanks.
EDIT: Device not supported by developer? Shall I do it anyway?
EDIT 2: Constant browser has stopped
Hi, try "Android Browser" from Google Play. Working like a charm on my non rooted note.
If I remember right developer for that browser is "Digital Cookies"
You'll find it from play and its really worth to try

Has anyone been able to install Cyanogenmod's Torch app and getting it to work? Everytime I install and try to use it, it just force closes. I've tried putting in it /system/app too, but I still get the same problem.

It's probably only going to work on AOSP ROMs.

Their File Manager app installs just fine though, any reason why Torch is AOSP specific?

The File Manager is just an app where the Torch app involves more as far as the system. It's basically the same reason the CM11 camera won't work on our devices without AOSP.
I installed a ROM which came with Viper. I installed the driver as battery saver and high performance. I installed it as a user app and a system app. It still does not function at all. I tried compatibility mode and normal as well.
How do I get it to work?
I have same issue mine will work for a minute or two but then stop working I've tried different roms different versions of viper4android no luck
Yeah I'm running a ROM with it and having issues. Mine is that when the screen is off my music will skip or pause for just a second. Its real annoying I've tried it on headphones and the phone speaker with the same result.

They should stop including it in ROMs if it doesn't function.
I've frozen Sound Alive and it fixed everything for me. Give that a try if your rom still has it enabled.
How do you freeze SoundAlive?

You can either freeze it with Titanium Backup Pro or use a root explorer and rename the app soundalive.apk to soundalive.bak. It's located in the system/priv-app folder. On a side note have you all set ViperFX as the default music effects in settings/sound/music effects? Viper runs great for me. As for including it in the ROMs it needs to be made a data app and not a system app so it can be uninstalled if desired. I started to do this and hope other devs who include it in the ROM will follow suit.

You need to add MusicFX.apk back to the system/priv-app folder to get the Music Effects menu back and SoundAlive.apk if you want Sound Alive back in the Music Effects menu. Then reboot. Otherwise ViperFX will show up in the Music Effects menu once MusicFX is added back. You should also be more specific to witch ROM you are referring to, it might have been added back in a newer version.

Download this file and flash it using safestrap. Then open app and download drivers. Then restart go to settings/sounds/music effects and choose viper4android. Then hit enable in viper app this should work. This worked for me and I tried everything else everyone said with no luck
