headset button control - Continuum General

I have a single button headset. Works fine for answering and ending calls. If I hold it down it starts the stock music player. Double click for next track and triple click for previous do not work. Also, I tried headset button control from the market. And I tried downloading several music players from the market like mixzing and push to play/pause and double and triple click don't work on any of them either. Works on my Droid charge perfectly. It wouldn't work on ec07 or the currently Verizon approved rom, I am on ec07 now though.

Oh yeah lol.... anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Anyone know which APk controls the headset button?
This isn't a gingerbread only thing is it? I think ec07 is 2.2.2 and my charge is on ep1w release 2.3.4. I don't want to revert back to 2.2 on my charge just to find out lol so if anyone has any info at all please let me know.

More than likely the command for it is in system/usr/keylayout/
Upload that folder from your charge, and I'll see if I can get that working in the morning for you

Sweet, will do, I will take a looksey myself also and we can collaborate. I will edit in the link in a couple minutes
EDIT
Attached keylayout folder in a rar from my charge. Looking at the secjack file, this may be easier than I thought LOL Thanks in advance for your help.
OK last edit i promise
I tried just moving the secjack over from the charge to the continuum and rebooted. Since it had the one entry the continuum had in it anyways. And still a nogo. So maybe the keynumbers are different, or maybe they are defined somewhere else.
I dunno, I'll wait on your input.

Well I started looking around in similar folders and there are binaries with the exact same names as all of the .kl's in the folder you mentioned. If one of them needs changed I would have to start withsource code right?I ask because I don't currently have a machine I can run Linux on.

bump in case anyone knows something...

Phone won't properly switch from vibrate to sound

at&t 8525 owner, here.
So, I've had this issue for a little while now after I flashed Shadow TE ROM. But it's continued since then... so here's the issue:
I go into work and turn the phone onto vibrate. After I leave work, I switch back to sound on (ring & vibrate). Even though the icon shows the sound is back on, it's not. It only vibrates. It acts as if the speaker is still asleep.
So for awhile I'd have to reset my phone every day to get it working again until I realized I can go into sound settings / notifications and I find that the phone's jumped back to the default ringtone and more than that, I have to literally push PLAY to test the sound in order for the speaker to "wake up" if you will. Then the phone's fine until the next day.
Ok so back to present:
I got fed up and thought it was Shadow TE. So I flashed CRC's v9.2 ROM. Still had the same speaker issue! I was advised to flash a shipped rom.... which I did.... and flashed CRC's v11. Issue still remains.
I've searched the board and could only find one other person make mention of this a couple years ago and no one ever addressed it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd appreciate it greatly.
Same problem here with a custom Titan ROM. Installed the same software as every other ROM that I've used so the problem must be in the ROM somewhere.

Could be... but why does no one else seem to have this issue? Wouldn't there be tons of people replying here?
I did find that instead of switching it to vibe when I arrive at work, I switch it to silent... and SOMETIMES when I go back to Sound it works ok for a few hours but then it goes back to silent without warning so I miss calls and texts a lot. Might as well force the sound back on through Notifications Menu anyway. I'm SO getting away from Windows Mobile ASAP.
As soon as the Blackberry Bold is released here in the US, I'm buying it.... unless something about it disappoints me, in which case I'll settle for the iPhone 3G. The Bold can't come soon enough.
Who would like to claim this Hermes when I'm through with it? What are you willing to pay?
Try making sure that your ringers are in the windows\rings folder. Saw it somewhere else and it seems to be working.

The top addition (lines 343 to 349) is the stuff needed to set the usb controller to the right mode for the captivate.
The bottom two additions, fix some things Samsung left out. In the most recent kernel source from Samsung they add in the bottom to sections of code, so you can add line 373 to 389 and 434 to 444 without the if statements.
If you would like to also enable call audio using the dock, check out this code:

THIS and THIS is the car mount I'm talking about. They're both the same.
It has a male usb that plugs into the phone and on the back of the mount there is a female usb (for charging) and a female 3.5mm line out (for audio). Once plugged in, all audio is sent through the rear speaker instead of over usb.
It states in the manual that it will work once the official 2.2 comes out.
I'm hoping that somebody can get this working before that.

I tried Cog 3, and I thought it was using stock Roger's but now I think it might be using the old kernel from earlier Cog releases.
I think this would be awesome if we could get it running. I bought the home dock with the intent of using the audio out for the home theater. Of coarse Samsung and their ever lasting "2.2 taunts".

All I9000 based ROM/KERNELS Ive ever tried do not work. Captivate kernels the USB Audio out works fine. Unfortunately, after running I9000 ROMS, I wont be going back to a Captivate ROM. So yes, same problem here. I also believe it is related to the Kernel and not the ROM itself.
I was having this problem with the new rogers 2.2 update.
But i finally discovered whats wrong. First of all, i have only figured out to get the official Samsung apps to work (car home, desk home)
To get them to work, you attach the device, then look for the sound icon in the main menu. Press it until it turns into the mute button. For some reason, the sound the carries to USB.

No workie on Phoenix 3.5. It didn't work on Cognition 3.03 either which is a captivate rom. I believe the car dock is keyed (resistance?) differently than the desk dock, as it launches the proper car app automatically, and not the desk app.

OK, I figured out what you're talking about...
The Roger's Rom uses a different car dock app called CarCradle. I pulled it, deodexed it, put it in /system/app, ran out to my car to test, and nothing... it just muted the music.
I did this using Doc's 9.1.2 with GB latest kernel.
HERE is the deodexed CarCradle.apk if anybody else wants to try.
You'll need to uninstall car home and put this in /system/app
not definite on this but especially since you said this is for a i9000 ROM, I saw Supercurio is taking requests for Voodoo Sound. I would check there

i9000 MIUI installed on Captivate

Ok let me start off by saying I am NOT a dev. I am just a normal guy who can ocasionally follow instructions off the internet. I was able to get MIUI for the i9000 booted on my Captivate. This MIUI rom is ported over from the Nexus.
All I did was followed the instructions from the MIUI thread in the i9000 forums:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=992251
Just subsitute the captivate equivalent files from CM7. After you do these steps and Flash MIUI Beta 3 it will install a i9000 kernel and modem. You will have to go after the initial steps and install a captivate CM7 Kernel and Modem.
I wont be updating this thread, because I don't have the time. If a Dev wants to streamline this more for the captivate please do. I just wanted to share some info on how I got the MIUI from the i9000 thread running on my captivate. Fill free to use this thread for any MIUI related banter that can further help this Rom run smoother on our phones.
what are the bugs?
like I said I wont be updating this thread at all. I just wanted to let some know that it is possible to get it working on the captivate. to get a full bug list you will either have to install the rom yourself and figure out or wait for someone to report a list. what I have seen so far though is ringtones, and autorotation. I haven't played with it too much, but I was able to fix the ringtone issue be using a rintone app from the market download a ringtone. Also I believe the i9000 thread has a what is and what isn't working list also.
For people who where begging for MIUI this looks to have allot more promise. And it is gingerbread. Have not tried it out yet
CM7
I installed it on my Captivate and its actually running pretty smoothly, in fact its actually pretty fast I haven't even seen any lag. I'm on beta 4.
Here is what works:
-Texting
-Wi-fi
-Browser
-SD cards
Not working:
-I'm having problems downloading apps from the market, they don't seem to be downloading but if download the app you want then reboot the phone the app will be successfully installed.
-The sound only works if you plug the headphones into the phone and when you do that the sound comes from the speaker and not the headphones, however if you plug the headphones only about half way in then the sound will come out of the headphones.
-The sound problem does have an effect with the phone calls because the person on the other line can hear you but you can't hear them on the account of the headphones not being plugged in.
-The back key and search key are not working I guess because its made for another phone but idk. The home key acts as a back key. The menu key works fine.
-If you want to auto-rotate the screen then you'll have to go to the notification bar and tap the auto-rotate icon to turn it on, it does not automatically do it when you turn your phone over.
That's all I got, idk if there is a setting for the sound problem or something but I can't get it to work properly.
Just wanted to tell you guys how much Miui was working on our cappys and hopefully it can be fully working rom in some time.

This looks promising. Don't most i9000 ROMs have these issues when installed as-is onto a Captivate? Seems like it could be ported over just like most other i9000 ROMs.
But then again I'm no dev, and I could be completely and terribly wrong.

I tried it yesterday, hence the reason for this thread lol, but didn't really like it. Went back to CM7 with launcherpro plus. I missed my LP Plus widgets too much.
lol im just suprised how this thread isnt that popular
It'll get more popular as things get sorted out with the ROM itself. I've been running it for the last couple days (since beta 2), and if you install the CM7 Captivate kernel and a compatible modem (I like JL3), it's really pretty stable. The apps don't see media files, and afaik there are still some SD card issues, but if you can get past those it's not that hard to use as a daily.

It was/is very much a daily driver since data/phone/wifi all work, I just didn't like the feel of it. It took me back to my iPhone days which started to scare me a bit. lol
Yep I think jl3 works the best, I now have the rom pretty much fully functional and I just installed another media player app so it could find my music. MIUI is really amazing looking
Eh it does look like the iphone kind of but I was just getting tired of all the same "looking" roms and wanted something different
Interesting. CM7 has been without a nightly for a few days, I'm up for something new
So once we get the i9000 version running, just go into odin and flash a CM7 captivate kernel/modem? That should fix all the i9000->captivate issues, correct?

ED12 Thanks and Questions

First and foremost to everybody over at ACS thank you for bringing Gingerbread to my Epic. For the most part I have a fairly bug free, fully functioning installation.
I did want to mention a couple of things:
- I am getting an interruption in charging (I know this was a known bug)
- I have fully functioning GPS (I got a lock in GPS Status right before I did the install, left GPS on, shut the phone down and did the install, when my phone booted up after the install I turned on GPS and got a lock right away!)
- My voicemail won't verify! (I can still receive voicemail, I just don't get the voicemail-to-text to work) Plus, my voicemail icon in the notification bar NEVER goes away! (Hoping there might be a fix for that coming soon)
- ED12 does something absolutely no ROM I have had does... I listen to Pandora in my car with an auxilary cable plugged into the headphone jack. I also have my bluetooth headset paired and connected. In the past, whenever I received a phone call or wanted to make a phone call I had to unplug the auxilary cable in order for the phone to route call audio to my headset... NOT THE CASE ANYMORE!!! In a very awesome twist all call audio automatically routes to the bluetooth! Also, amazing bluetooth compatability with Google voice, Voice Search, etc.
So, all in all, Gingerbread has made me totally happy! I am sorry that I put this in the General forum apparently I am too new to post on Development pages so I understand if this gets moved.
Curious, when do you think we will start seeing ROMs and Bug Fixes for ED12?
Also, I saw that Jez2cool's thread with the tar version, however the link to the file was dead (just came up with a Dropbox error page), will there be a flashable version for me to Odin coming soon? Will that version fix some of the issues I am seeing on the version I have installed through CWM?
Once again to the whole team at ACS thank you!
I will be looking forward to further development!

There wont be any bug fixes for ed12. It will just be another rom that samsung will make. Its just a test build. Hopefully we can get another leak when another version comes out. Also the tar and flashable version thru recovery is the same thing.

The lock screen date is a universal problem, not just ED12.
its a alot of bugs they dont say about this rom
I'm running gingerbread ED12 stock ROM right now for the first time. My first impressions are "Amazing." This ROM seems like it is the direct port from the Nexus S with TouchWiz on top of it. Everything seems to be working...I know people said they are having a lot of problems, but I haven't seen any too major ones. My battery meter is fine, GPS is working, and the phone isnt crashing.
WiMax doesn't work, which I assumed. And the lockscreen has the date cutoff like every other ROM in May. That's a problem with Samsung's TouchWiz that they need to fix.
EDIT: And again the "Time Without Signal" issue is still here. I wish they would fix that
gingerbread was way cool, but the thing main that stopped me from running it full time was the fact that visual voicemail wasn't working. Couldn't download vm's and wanted me to call the vm service like I was on a dumb phone. Eff that
There were some other minor bugs that I was willing to put up with, like not waking the phone when the keyboard is opened and only having the CRT power off animation but not [/i]on[/i]
Then there are the things that samsung/sprint seem entirely unwilling to fix like the date on lockscreen and whatever it is that causes google sky maps to always point at the southern hemisphere.
still, I was willing to forgive all that for HALF of the badass CRT animation.. it was THAT cool imo, but i just couldn't deal with calling to get voicemails LOL

Unable to pair Nexus Player remote

Hey guys,
I'm having some issues with the NP remote. I can't seem to pair it! Nothing came up automatically as it did in Stock to pair. And home + back button isn't working. How can I enable it without another device? Any ideas? Thanks!
I've tried factory reset, no go. It won't even reset my OS. It'll be exactly the same. Straight to home screen, no prompt to set up.
I've tried using that remote app, but that requires the two devices be connected on the same network, which isn't something I can do. I haves absolutely no control over the player.
The remote works. I can pair it to my S3 and it'll work nicely. I can't get the NP to appear as a Bluetooth device. I think that might be the issue. Help!
I just reflashed and got the same thing. Bluetooth doesn't seem to work.. Flashed stock and got remote access back. Flash custom, lose it completely.
I'm running Lollirock + Chainfire root. When it boots, it goes straight to home screen. The standard Android set up doesn't come up. Also the NP doesn't come up as a BT device. I'm all out of ideas.
I think one of the things with lollyrock is that you have to boot it twice to pair the remote.
I hope that helps
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Can you elaborate on that a bit more? When you say "boot", do you simply mean unplug the player and restart? Basically flash the ROM, let it boot up, then unplug it and plug it back in again?
If so, unfortunately, I've tried that. Many, many times. :/

Replying to this duplicate post in the hope that someone else won't need to dupe post.
Your answer was in the rom's thread post 13 (2nd page) and points out that a keyboard and mouse are required to setup this rom as you cannot pair the Bluetooth remote until you can reach the Bluetooth screen in settings.
Also, you're not going to enjoy this rom if you plan on using that little remote. Reread the thread, Zulu (the LolliRock dev) States multiple times that he thinks that remote sucks and doesn't support it as it is missing way too many features.
Sorry if I'm a jerk with my blunt post, I don't really intend to be, but you could have answered your own question without double posting and just reading a measly 13 page thread. Honestly, this is what a lot of people on XDA need to hear.
