ED12 Thanks and Questions

First and foremost to everybody over at ACS thank you for bringing Gingerbread to my Epic. For the most part I have a fairly bug free, fully functioning installation.
I did want to mention a couple of things:
- I am getting an interruption in charging (I know this was a known bug)
- I have fully functioning GPS (I got a lock in GPS Status right before I did the install, left GPS on, shut the phone down and did the install, when my phone booted up after the install I turned on GPS and got a lock right away!)
- My voicemail won't verify! (I can still receive voicemail, I just don't get the voicemail-to-text to work) Plus, my voicemail icon in the notification bar NEVER goes away! (Hoping there might be a fix for that coming soon)
- ED12 does something absolutely no ROM I have had does... I listen to Pandora in my car with an auxilary cable plugged into the headphone jack. I also have my bluetooth headset paired and connected. In the past, whenever I received a phone call or wanted to make a phone call I had to unplug the auxilary cable in order for the phone to route call audio to my headset... NOT THE CASE ANYMORE!!! In a very awesome twist all call audio automatically routes to the bluetooth! Also, amazing bluetooth compatability with Google voice, Voice Search, etc.
So, all in all, Gingerbread has made me totally happy! I am sorry that I put this in the General forum apparently I am too new to post on Development pages so I understand if this gets moved.
Curious, when do you think we will start seeing ROMs and Bug Fixes for ED12?
Also, I saw that Jez2cool's thread with the tar version, however the link to the file was dead (just came up with a Dropbox error page), will there be a flashable version for me to Odin coming soon? Will that version fix some of the issues I am seeing on the version I have installed through CWM?
Once again to the whole team at ACS thank you!

There wont be any bug fixes for ed12. It will just be another rom that samsung will make. Its just a test build. Hopefully we can get another leak when another version comes out. Also the tar and flashable version thru recovery is the same thing.

I know an IRC channel that will love to hear that. Everyone has been complaining about that issue since the beginning of the Epic.

It's actually so unbelievable that I think Samsung just hasn't overwritten that part of the code yet in attaching their skin to GB...

We probably won't be seeing a TAR to Odin since that file is off-limits until Sprint releases it to the public.

I think ACS just released that too. Same problems as their ROM though. So better off flashing the EC05 modem back. Here is the link:

Ive never had that issue with the aux plug with calls pandora games nithing sins 2.1

So I had a my Modem crash yesterday... First time that has ever happened to me. Anybody else get that yet?
Also, the date on my lock screen is cut off...

The lock screen date is a universal problem, not just ED12.

its a alot of bugs they dont say about this rom

I'm running gingerbread ED12 stock ROM right now for the first time. My first impressions are "Amazing." This ROM seems like it is the direct port from the Nexus S with TouchWiz on top of it. Everything seems to be working...I know people said they are having a lot of problems, but I haven't seen any too major ones. My battery meter is fine, GPS is working, and the phone isnt crashing.
WiMax doesn't work, which I assumed. And the lockscreen has the date cutoff like every other ROM in May. That's a problem with Samsung's TouchWiz that they need to fix.
EDIT: And again the "Time Without Signal" issue is still here. I wish they would fix that

gingerbread was way cool, but the thing main that stopped me from running it full time was the fact that visual voicemail wasn't working. Couldn't download vm's and wanted me to call the vm service like I was on a dumb phone. Eff that
There were some other minor bugs that I was willing to put up with, like not waking the phone when the keyboard is opened and only having the CRT power off animation but not [/i]on[/i]
Then there are the things that samsung/sprint seem entirely unwilling to fix like the date on lockscreen and whatever it is that causes google sky maps to always point at the southern hemisphere.
still, I was willing to forgive all that for HALF of the badass CRT animation.. it was THAT cool imo, but i just couldn't deal with calling to get voicemails LOL

That's a problem with the Sprint data being uploaded. It seems the 3G uploading is borked as well. You can test it with "SpeedTest.net" app

[Q] long time watcher and rom user. first time poster.

Hello my name is Xan Steel. I've been trying out roms on this forum for my Epic 4G. However I've run across a lot of bugs in this rom "ACS ICS V6". I would love to be able to post them in the development thread pertaining to the rom, but since I'm under the 10 post limit to post in a dev thread. I would like to ask how I go about doing this the correct way without breaking forum rules.

[ROM] ACS ICS V6.
Where to began.
I came from ACS SyndicateFrozen 1.1.1 I could never get 1.2 to run. And this ROM was based on GB. Really wanted to see what GB was like. SO after installing the ROM. Everything started out normal (no issues at that point). It was sluggish which made me wonder if Carrier I.Q. was still in the ROM. It wasn't listed that it was removed.
SO I started trying things out. Everything was going good until I turned on the Wireless WiFi Tether. It crashed outright. Tried again, and crashed. It would open to a black screen and then crash. So I did some digging, and apparently this is a known issue. So I got a different one from the market that worked (Open Garden WiFi Tether).
I installed Opera. I like Opera for it's desktop mode that actually works over Dolphins. I would type in a address, and hit go, and it would act like its going, and then stop and remove what I had typed. Tried again, and it would load a blank page. Tried a third time, and got the HTML header to load the page in a text format. Uninstalled and reinstalled same thing happen. So I left it alone, and about 3 hours later it had uninstalled itself/completely missing on the phone and market stated it wasn't installed. Rebooted phone, still gone. Not idea where it went. After reinstalling it again. it would do the same thing.
So I flashed and wiped X3. And reloaded the ROM. Thinking I have a bad load.
reinstalled all my apps and even though Opera is still doing it's thing I mentioned earlier, it hasn't uninstalled itself... yet.
Now after the reload of the ROM. Last night I lost cell service (couldn't make calls) but I had data. Which was odd to me. Rebooted the phone, and same thing. Had data but not cell service. After about and hour or so, I have cell and data back together. Maybe it was someone working on the tower in the area at 11pm, or maybe the ROM decided it would be funny.
Another thing I noticed. If you hit the menu button to pull menus in apps and on the home screens. They are white on black. White text and image, on a black background. Now if you go into any sub-menu from the main menu, its black on black. You can't read anything unless your lucky to have a bright white page behind it, so that it can try to bleed through some of the transparency.
The battery icon when charging in portrait goes from normal to skinny (blinking), while in landscape mode it goes from normal to fat (blinking).
Also two music apps is not really needed. One is fine. Trimming down on unneeded apps would help save on space. Also remove Carrier I.Q. if it hasn't been yet.
Adding that super brightness, is actually bad. Not thinking about it, it's actually crashed the video HW of the phone. On a plain white screen at max brightness, it starts to artifact, and if what ever your trying to do doesn't complete. The video HW crashes, and you get a pretty rainbow on the screen until you pull the battery. Basically acts like a dying or dead video card in a PC. Also it can (and has happened to me) cause screen burn in. If you want a image of it let me know and I'll post one.
Also Rom Manager does not recognize any ClockWorkMod Recovery, if you manually install the recovery yourself.
If I find anything else buggy I'll post and update here.

No, carrierIQ is not removed on this rom, nor has it been removed on any GB rom that I know of. Still, removed or not, it won't make any difference in the performance of the device.
Any apps that you fine are useless can easily be uninstalled, even if they are installed system/app folder. Rom chefs correct attitude about roms is that they build for themselves first. I personally have 3 music players installed.
We don't have official Rom Manager support so that will be an issue on pretty much all non AOSP roms for the epic.

Ah makes sense. It's relatively new, and most likely not been worked on yet.

Ah, then I should be able to remove them myself fairly easily.

It's a good possibility since it only happened the one time, but since it is a beta, and I'm using it for the first time. I felt it needed to be brought up just in case it wasn't. Heh beta tested a lot of new software, and got into the habit of reporting everything, even if it looks like something else is the issue and not the software.

ICS Passion v10

Awesome ROM! I don't have enough posts yet (long time reader, I hardly ever post...) to post in the official thread....so I thought I'd post one here.
Passion v10 (BETA) has been one of the best custom ROMS i've flashed. This only comes (a very very close second) to Simply Honey. I'm sure v11 will surpass it though.

I tried v9.2, and it had some definite issues. I went back to Bionix. Then I flashed ICS Passion v10, and it's great for a lot of functions, but it rebooted twice when I received a phone call and tried to call...this is while I was travelling, so I wasn't too happy.
Hopefully all the bugs will iron out soon. I do like ICS.

GPS Lock issue
I just upgraded my t-mobile vibrant to Passion 10.6 and the GPS works but sometimes it doesn't. I'm experimenting with it to figure out the problem.
I found at least one case that if the GPS doesn't work enabling/disabling the GPS didnt see to fix the problem. I rebooted the phone with GPS enabled and then it locked immediately when the phone booted up.

Don't know if you're using GPS Test or NBAngryGPS to test but for hahas I just used GPS without running/fiddling with those two apps and only using the Maps app and GPS works anytime.

I'm also in the same boat I am always reading and never posting. Well I need to be able to post now. I'm running 10.6 and all is well I get GPS as good or better then I ever did and my phone is so much faster.

I'm running 10.5 and it works great. I don't use GPS so I don't know if it works well. But I bought a bigger battery just so I could enjoy it for the whole day without any battery drain. Can't wait for v11.

My previous rom was froyo and it didnt lock as quickly at ICS Passion 10.6. I was quite impressed actually at how quickly it found 11 satellites and locked on to 8-10 of the in use. In a matter of seconds ICS Passion locked on via a fresh boot of the phone.
I always used GPS test on froyo and ICS Passion 10.6 and it worked fine. I even use google maps and it works too. On boot up of the phone ICS Passion 10.6 works worked beautifully.
If the phone sits idle for a while maybe 30 minutes or so and you try gpstest or google maps it never finds a single satellite. I have to reboot the phone in order to get it to find and lock on.
I don't know if any of you have tried that case but that is definitely what is happening on my vibrant. Again with froyo I never had this issue. I could disable the gps and then later enable it and it would lock on after 1-2 minutes with no problem.
I will try a few more things to see if I can isolate it more but its pretty clear at least on my end that it doesn't acquire a lock after being idle for some time.

I just confirm this. If the vibrant goes into power saving mode where the screen black out after its idle, I can not get a lock on the gps without rebooting the phone.
Both gpstest/google maps and angrygps cant get a single sat

ICS Passion v10 is awesome. It's, by far, the best ROM I've ever used... coming from Stock to CM7 to ICS Passion (after a long drought). NeoBuddy89 has resurrected my PASSION for my phone again! Haha... simply awesome.

I'm running v10.6 , no extra mods, running Eugene's v10.6_update kernal and it is so smooth and fast, I don't care about the vibrant GPS, but all else is great, best combo I've found with passion. 2099 score on quadrant with 200-1300mhz and smartassv2.

My only long standing issue with this from as a whole is the low storage message and when I reboot it gets stuck on boot splash finally fixed it with a combination of restore app only in TB with killing fb auto sync and Gmail sync but besides that completely amazing

This ROM is amazing! My only issue is the screen seems to not be as responsive to touch so I have to press a little harder to get things to work. I installed Touch Screen Booster from the market and it seems to be better, still trying different configs. GPS is flawless! Locks in 15 seconds INSIDE my house. I never had that happen on any FROYO ROM.
PASSION for the FTW! This ROM has restored my interest and my faith in my Vibrant, and saved me some $ too. I almost picked up a GS2 last week but held off. I am amazed at how smooth and fluid this ROM is and that my Vibrant is running an OS that is not even available on the GS2 !

Was using stock 2.2 and it worked fine but I guess that I try out ICS since Samsung won't do ICS for this phone. First I had to flash back to Stock Froyo because Heimdall suite won't work. Rooted the phone, but won't go to clockwork mod. Have to install the rom manager manually then was able to install clockwork mod. After I was able to get into clockwork mod, try to install cm 7.1, but it reboot looping, so I had to pull out the battery and try again and was successful. Then I try to install this ICS, and again, loop reboots and had to re-install again. I guess it is just bad luck of me to try to install ICS.
I try to play some divx movies that worked fine in stock 2.2 but couldn't play the same files in ICS. Anybody know how to fix this? Thanks.

What player are you using? Try Mobo player, it's free on the Android market.

Thanks. BTW, I can't see the contents of the sd card from the phone. It thinks the internal memory is my sd card. Second, how do I configure a lockscreen? Third, how do I configure wifi access after I enable it? And finally, how do you configure and resize a widget?

Which ICS are you using?
1. Let the moboplayer scan the folder "emmc". It's in the very root of your phone
2. Not all roms have a built in option for this, again, which ICS rom are you using? So if the rom you're using doesn't have it the only way is to use a 3rd party app(not sure if we have this kind of app in the market.)
3. Settings / Wireless & network / wifi settings
4. hold the widget for a few seconds while it's still on the homescreen, there you can resize your widgets.

Thanks. I am using this ICS Passion rom 10.6. Downloaded moboplayer and it seems to work. I am trying to find the lockscreen using the 9 dot swiping unlock screen, but I don't know where to download it. I managed to figure the wifi settings.
The main question about the widgets is that I am trying to add another custom widget where I can add and remove whatever button (cm7 like) but I can't do it. Thanks.

I dropped in my sensors.sage.so into your ROM and the sensors worked great (I think.. rotation worked)
I used the libsensors that came in the jordan (Defy) device tree if that helps.. (had to change LOCAL_MODULE from sensors.jordan to sensors.sage in Android.mk for it to build)
If you're OK with it, I can upload it to a more world-friendly site (probably MediaFire )

Thanks WinSuk for take time to test and help, please dont give up at all with the testing process, so, not many of us may have enough knowledge to really help with this, and also many of us, we are sure and gratefull, that Laidaxin is kind doing it best according with the time that he kind may offer to develop, for all people that use the FlipSide, the CM7 version that for sure it the BIGGEST new that may happen to the FlipSide Forum in long long time...
So, Thanks to Laidaxin, WinSuk, ringfool and any other one that may join to help to make the first ROM for FlipSide a success and tested.

We should built it together for filpside,one man can not do it well for this job.the other man that i want to say thanks is the wanggjghost,he help me to do it well.
if you upload you file,i will soon to fixed it .

So... i finally got the 2nd init installer to work...
and i got cm7 installed...
my findings are... the accelerometer does not work... meaning the screen doesn't change orientation when you turn the phone...
and
the telephone dials out... or rings when called... however... when it attempts to connect... it reboots the phone...
and
the camera is still broken
and since i don't really know that much about it... i don't know how to fix it...
hopefully one of you guys that are better at this than me can come up with a fix...
i did get wifi to find my network... though i couldn't connect cuz i don't know the password (i use the push button method normally)
it looks so pretty... and runs so smooth...
if there is anything i can do to make your lives easier on this... just lemme know...
my phone... even though its my only one... is ready for testing...
i don't care about sbf flashes... i do them once in a while just cuz i am a glutton for punishment

ok, this seems fine by now... well I am not a dev so could not direct help, but try by post several threads in other forums in order to try to call other FlipSide users and may be Devs that may help to set this Rom to full.
Hope that lucky we may get some additional help to come.

When I try... it reboots the phone...
That is the only thing keeping this from being my everyday ROM

i was having the same problem as well, mine included the market place too since i installed gapps... i kept messing around with different settings and finally found a solution...
in the settings under wireless and networks go to mobile network settings and change the network preferences to "gsm only" for some reason this beta version doesnt like wcdma yet... which kinda sucks cause you can only get edge that way and no hspda or 3g.. but i was able to make phone calls and download apps after changing that setting..
on another note everything works AWESOME the only problem other than that that ive had is when i changed my ringtones from the default to a custom mp3 or something other than what it comes set at default it doesnt ring anymore when i receive texts or calls... but vibrate mode works just fine which doesnt bother me for now! I'm just so excited to finally see some development on such a neglected device.. i was started ti lose hope and was just gonna let the phone meet the brick wall... i always thought it was odd that nothing was going on with this phone when its more powerful than the original Motorola Droid which was my first android device and its seeing ICS ports... hmm.. ICS ports just something for you guys to chew on.. i will keep playing with stuff on this beta and let you guys know if i find any other bugs!!!!

I have been in contact with laidaxin via pm... he says he knows what's wrong and is working on it...

You guys aren't the only ones... The lack of dev support is honestly the only thing I dislike about the flipside, and it seems like we're well on the way to having a usable rom.

Yep... You are not alone, same by me.... I evolve to really appreciate my Flip, since by now is long time that it is serving me faithfully.... really wish and deserve a much better rom for so reliable hardware.

If you change the settings how I mentioned prior you won't have any reboots

so...even though op says it's finished...it's not quite there yet, right? No 3g..? Hmmm....

Hi buddies
As Grarak chose to close the thread of his rom and that maybe some of you want to have some more return and exchanges about the way the rom works, discuss about bugs etc, i open this thread, so that we will be able to do what a forum is done for : talk and exchange together.

and there is No way to chose network type

Im on 9-12-14 build....2g sim not working same as official cm11....3g sim is working......

i 've had terrible battery life, and searching on google lead me to a battery misc processus eating battery, problem solved with 5.0.1 by google
do you guys have the same experience, and have heard about a fix incorporation in the new builds? :good:

I had to go all the way back to the 11-20-14 build. I tried updating to the new builds 12-8, 12-9 and 12-10. No data at all on any of these builds.

Flashed the newest build! We're on Lollipop 5.0.1 now This update is supposed to help battery life. We'll see.
The new music app automaticaly force closes, and the DSPmanager was replaced with AudioFX.

I don't know? It's just called "Music" but the icon is like a poorly designed not lollipop looking purple circle. But Apollo is gone so I suppose that's it. And audio playback works, just the app crashes right when I open it.

mhm then i think a change that has broke the app. I m sure Grarak will correct it in the next release

Ok, the ROM was going great for me, then yesterday at work my phone turned off when it was in my pocket. I tried turning it on, it booted, started doing the boot animation and then did that for five minutes before it shut off again. This time it wouldn't turn back on no matter how many times i tried power cycling or booting into bootloader. When I got home I tried charging it and the light wouldn't even come on. So I plugged it into my PC and the phone showed up as qhsusb_bulk. After researching that i found it means the bootloader got wiped somehow. My question is, how could my bootloader be gone, because as far as I know, no one has gotten their device S-OFF.

your device is bricked
seems there is a solution on the web but not working for everybody and for specific devices

Yes that's what i figured. Luckily Amazon was nice enough to give me a new phone once I send that one in. I was just trying to figure out how it would even be possible that my bootloader got fried, considering my device was still S-ON.

any one who tried this rom found any bugs ???????? i want to know the bugs and want to know in htc 816 daul the second sim worked or not

I'm on a single sim Virgin Mobile variant here. There are bugs, yes. This is basically an alpha going into beta of lollipop. There is no one else developing anything new for this device so this is our best bet yet. Aside for some minor niggles here and there, this ROM is very workable as a daily driver. I would recommend a backup, and try this one out. I like it a lot. Grarak is quite amazing actually, many thanks owed.

Didn't test it. Haven't spent enough time on Lollipop because of the no data issue.

I've been playing around with the lastest builds, and I'm actually getting LTE to work without modifying anything, I just have to let it sit for a WHILE and it connects and works quite well.
HOWEVER, I have been getting a corrupt data partition issue with some non-google play apks. I assume that since the build are already not stable, adding homemade, root apks that modify data might cause some corruption. I'll keep playing with it and report back any further updates on how this may be happening.

Yah data works...just not good. It has to do with not being able to access APN's.
No one want's to sit "for a WHILE" to open a webpage or read an email.

On the latest build, System UI crashes.
