Samsung will never make gingerbread for our phone, cause now there is the galaxy ace and the mini. So they won't spend time in developing android 2.3 for us.

why does the coding take so long for samsung? if 2 developers can port CM in some weeks, samsungs coderteam will bring gingerbread in 1 week to g3 .... oO

I think official android 2.3 is impossible for our phones. Samsung hasn't even realised official non-branding froyo for our phones. I5800 has been abandoned by samsung developers.

Because it's not about the ability or competency, it's about business rationale. Samsung's dev team could compile both the kernel and the whole Gingerbread for less than a few hours and polish the bugs in a couple of days - but they don't want to. Then they won't sell you the new Galaxy Ace (or any other 2.3 phone) if you can have a phone with the same capabilities if you install 2.3 on SG3.

Exactly.... and considering the job they did for our so called official builds it's better they don't.... i hate the samsung modifications to stock Android anyways....... and i really think that marcellusbe will do a way better job and will actually "fix" the found bugs!

Official/Unofficial doesnt matters. Its the same Gingerbread.

Exactly..... gingerbread from marcellusbe will be an actual stock AOSP.... and it's way better!

Yep...samsung give rom's with craprware...and useless software...marcellusbe will give us a firmware really optimized for our phone

I surely do hope they will not release gingerbread. They already gave us froyo which is good for a budget phone like ours is. If they start supporting us forever the sales for i5800 would turn from a profit to loss, and that's not the point of business

The reason why he left it was because on ecalir HTC had put many restrictions and locked every Apk very tightly
It would be easier now because people for MOTO Droid with a diff chipset omap and powervgr have ported it
The main thing is decompiling and changing parameters
Like swappiness , RAM , etc

I dunno much about this stuff, but there was another thread about it recently & if I remember correctly even achotjan was involved but nothing released, maybe you should contact those & J, to avoid starting from zero

I've been wanting to try AOSP GB with fps fix and custom kernel from J's 2nd post but I'm not familiar with making boot.img's so I'm trying to look into steps of how to make one... BB.67 btw

Pm sent back and its cos of the customization of MIUI that makes it a great rom
We already have Trip and Cobrato working on it so why would we need another MIUI rom? Doesn't. make sense....
I want to see another rom which isn't on the x10 yet

Some people really need to improve their English here and besides, there has been not a single bugless software released in the computer world.
@OP -- I say go for it, and make it available for all basebands since we have kernels supporting all basebands now.

Kernels are available for all basebands but as of yet roms aren't
And because you cannot use internet whilst in phonecall on 2.0.XX (.46.49.52) and other things,roms on 2.1.XX (.54.55.58.61.65.67) are recommended for battery and signal strength

I'd very much like to see a MIUI rom, been some time since a new one emerged on xda and none based on 2.3.3 has been made here yet.
Besides, functionality wise I think it's one of the best aftermarket firmwares too imo. Would be really nice and awesome if a miui rom was cooked on xda once more

I would love to see some of the theming abilities of MIUI (being able to change lockscreen,status bar icons, etc) in a stock-ish hybrid rom. Or some sort of built-in theming engine.

Tripnmiui has bugs and data issues which aren't going to be ironed out anytime soon as development has stopped or at least been put on hold. If you could make a stock fully working miui rom that would be awesome. Why not aim for higher since there's no lack of cm7, stock, se lookalike roms etc etc

MIUI for sure =] I mean look at TripNFag / TripNBalls . His got his **** named as TripNDroid engineering which is basically all copy and paste from other tweaks . It doesn't even work properly, with alot of bugs, and glitches and lags everywhere .

By the way TripNFag has left the x10 development, he got a new phone, goodbye TripNBalls fanboys.

a bad working ICS will just give us many problems like bricked phones etc. as a present..
I think we're all are able to be patient and wait for a good working beta or stuff like this..

That is not true mate. Check out progress report thread in android development forum, you will see major phones have pretty good ICS developed.

Yes ofc without microphone or speakers working at all. Because there is the phone kernel missing for the ics. So they are trying to implant a GB version on ics, correct me if I am wrong have 0 knowledge about the thema, that's why no thanks I will wait, if you can't wait why didn't you bought the nexus??

microphone works perfectly fine here. had nothing but crystal clear call quality from the start according to everyone ive spoken to.
maybe theres gunk in your mic hole or its being obstructed?

I really don't care about things like bluetooth etc.

Melchior as I have read he does developing his custom roms, sorry netchip but I don't remember which it was :-( . So he asked, to get a wrought thought what people want because the needs are always different the wants can be made the needs can be satisfied ;-) GL HF netchip with what you decide as I said with a kernel working perfectly a waste of time to make Ics, ok it would be imba to get the start with it but it would be to much dunno about your free time and what you like to do easy s..t or hard core, I can't make it, I will try moaaaaaaaaar, I made itttttttttttt yessssssssssssss.
