I am experiencing lots of problems attempting to root my new galaxy S phone. I use to have an older galaxy s which allowed me to use the oneclick root solution, but this refurbrished phone i got from the warranty depot came with 2.3.3 gingerbread. Last night i tried tried both oneclickroot and gingerbreak but i realized later they do not work for 2.3.3.
Someone want to point out a tutorial for this android noob?
Flash CF-root kernel. It is the stock kernel +root and cwm.

cheers but i thought z4root only unroots eclair 2.1 but roots froyo ??
So i just replaced my iPhone with a Samsung Fascinate. I updated to 2.1 update 1.
I went through the forums looking how to root my phone. I ended up tring the one touch rooting method using the fascinate root v02 and it did not work. (confirment this by going into termanl and typed su to see if i got a # rather than a $.....Nada
Is it possible to root the 2.1 update1? If so can someone point me to a guide?
This is the method that has not failed me no matter what version (except froyo) Rom I have:

Redo your drivers for your phone. Uninstall in control panel. Are you XP or 7? I uaf this issue and addressed the solution to another user.

I have rooted my tab because of the LCD density thing...
Now, I was wondering, what else I can do with a rooted tab???
You can find you're self a nice bloat-free ROM to install and maybe an overclocked kernal to kick your Tab into high gear!
Can you direct me to where you got your root instructions and the downlaod to do it as also new to tab and want a safe option to follow to get it rooted. As mine is slow as my nan.
Thanks brad

I used Z4Root. You can't find it on the market. Download it from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
SuperOneClick

I think z4root does not work on newer versions of Froyo. If you cannot get z4root to work, you can try Super One Click. I rooted mine using SOC. Read here.

z4root works for sure. I just used it 20 minutes ago to do my first ever galaxy tab root

First thing to do, I strongly recommend backup your stock rom
Ways to do it via
1) Roto backup (using Odin - from computer)
2) Nandroid (using CWM - from phone)
Then you are set to flash custom roms, kernels, pimp your tab with custom themes etc.
Happy Tabbing!
Is anyone come up with a nap yet that will root the Iconia with 3.2?

I don't think anyone has tried rooting 3.2 with a nap yet, maybe that will work. Put it to sleep, then root it lol.
If anyone had found a one click root for 3.2, you can bet you'd see multiple threads on it knowing the monkeys around here
An app*

No they have not to answer your question
I'm assuming you don't want to do the downgrade process to root your tab then?
Acer a500 (rom) Civato Mix
HTC Inspire (rom) Rcmix 3.3 sense 3.5
No nap root method.but there is a downgrade/install rooted 3.2.
Naps are fun when taken with the correct person root Not required.
Giggles
I did the downgrade and root method and didn't even lose data. It's seriously easy. Follow the instructions.
Link to downgrade
I can't seem to find the instructions. Thought they were stickied to main page but don't see them. I have 3.2 and would like to either downgrade and load rooted 3.2 or even just downgrade so I can root 3.1 and use that again.

Understatement of the century there. Takes about twenty minutes, including the time it takes to search the dev forum using the phrase "downgrade 3.2". You don't even need a PC, you can do it all using the tablet.
@ingrouille, it's in the development forum:

Then I would recomend [ROM] Rooted Stock HC 3.2 US Rom for CWM only (5-oct-11)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1290318
It's a stock rom that is already rooted, flashed through CWM.
Chad
Many thanks.
ugh, can't seem to revert. tried method two a multitude of times but I get the android logo with the yield/exclamation point each time.
wonder whats going on. checked formatting, the zip itself, the card is recognized by the tab, hmmm. any ideas? I've seen a few other people are having this issue also.

It looks like that's an A500 ROM, correct? I'd like to keep the "4G" portion enabled, so I don't think that will work for me. Drat.
Have you ever tried to search the forums?
This way works fine for the stock 3.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307539
I used it to root my friend's A500 last week.
Cheers

So... you basically cooked up your own rom and added SU to it.
To anyone else who needs to root just download kekinash's stock rom with superuser, it's the exact same thing as this without the steps just flash and you have rooted 3.2.
And you are in a small group of people that have SD card issues, I've owned 2 Iconia a500's and neither had a single SD issue.
It wasn't me
It was timmyDean who added root for stock 3.2. he described how to get root in adb shell only (the very first post in the thread I posted)
The way to add superuser for applications was described by chrishohl on the 3rd page of the same thread
Following his how-to one can get the rooted stock 3.2 without downgrade.

Nope, I haven't any issues with SD card, the only goal for now is 3G USB modem kernel modules. I haven't find any modules for the stock 3.2 kernel version.
Those for 3.1 failed to load with insmod since they had been built for another kernel version.

First off, I have a rooted GS2SR with CM9 and InstigatorX kernel. I have some experience rooting but my buddy's Droid X is throwing me for a loop. It's running FroYo 2.2.1 unrooted stock. He wants to upgrade it to ICS. What program do I need to get to interface with it to root it? He tried to do it himself and it was stuck in a bootloop. Had to sbf back to froyo 2.2.1 for it to do anything using RSD. These forums are a bit outdated and searching isn't working. Is it really just as simple as loading a .zip to root, loading the bootstrapper, flashing cwm, flashing the rom and voila? Modding my G2SR was easy, but this seems a bit more complex. Or if someone could simply link me to a thorough CM7/CM9 root-how-to forum that would be terrific. Thanks!
He needs to take the latest OTA update, then follow this guide:
