OK I looked couldn't find anything I was wondering what is a splash screen??

The screen before the boot animation. If you haven't changed yours, it's the white screen that says "HTC EVO 4G" when you turn your phone on.

1) Find said PC36IMG.zip file. [examples: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029063 ]
2) Place the file on your SDCARD not in any folder.
3) Make sure it is named PC36IMG.zip [not PC36IMG.zip.zip or any other name]
4) Boot into the bootloader. [Phone off, hold volume down while pressing power button]
5) When it scans, press volume up to confirm the update
6) Let it complete, restart.
You must be s-off [fully rooted] to do this.
OK ill try thank u much

Yeah, I believe that some have been made as flashable zips [which you would flash in your recovery] but most of the ones I've seen lately are just PC36IMGs.
OK thanks alot really helpful

Are you rooted? You can also remove the jingle and animation by deleting the two qmg files in /system/media...it's been awhile but somthing like samsungstartuploop.qmg?

Thanks a bunch! That jingle annoyed the piss out of me.
That jingle is just horrible. Who in their development department thought that was a good idea?? At LEAST they could have made it optional...
Here's what has been posted so far. Hopefully one of the links will download fast for you with everyone trying to get their hands on it.
Note: I haven't downloaded any of these personally, I don't know if they're reliable/safe, I'm only taking them from the other threads to make them easier to get to.
Note: Don't try to flash this. Wait for a developer to make a flashable zip.

So my friend gave me his broken mytouch 4g, It's stuck at the boot screen and when I hboot to recovery it gives me the red triangle with exclamation point in the middle of it I am assuming this means I have no recovery installed? I can get to hboot and trying to factory reset it doesn't work either. It's not rooted or have any custom rom installed so I don't know how to fix it. Any help is greatly appreciated,

using the method Phateless gave you doesn't involve moving files to the phone. the zip file goes on the SD card, and then boot phone into hboot

You will move the files to the micro sd card. then boot into hboot, it will read the pd15img.zip and then you can select to flash that img. it will restore the phone to stock settings. you can then proceed to root and install cwm recovery.

Definitely not at that level yet mate, I just enjoy helping........ some people, others I just like to annoy so if I ever do make it to that stage I'd much prefer to swing over to the darkside. Its more fun.
I don't think its possible for clockwork to open a zip file??
It'll either try to flash or come up with an error.

Hey guys!
I have a root method for the OG Epic on Android 2.3.6 FC09!
All the requirments are that you install ODIN from the link below and download the proper files from the links below as well!!
Step one) put your device into Download Mode
Step 2) Connect to your computer and make sure ODIN recognizes your device
Step 3) Flash the Clockworkmod.tar.md5. Make sure EVERYTHING is unchecked INCLUDING AUTOREBOOT!!!!
Step 4) Once ODIN does its thang, unplug your phone and pull the battery
Step 5) Now reboot into CWM Recovery by pressing and holding the power button, camera, and volume down button until the capacitive buttons at the bottom show
Step 6) Now locate the ROM.zip. It should be called DeodexedFC09.zip
Step 7) Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache Partition, Wipe Dalvik Cache, and if you want Wipe Batt Stats
Step 8) Now reboot, and you should be running Stock Rooted FC09!
Enjoy!!

As you can see, some of the old timers like to pounce on the new posters, so please take it all in stride
Ummm...hi...welcome here...we are all rooted here and have been for a long time. It sounds like you are just writing out the instructions in qbking77's video using my FC09 deodexed ROM to root. Same thing but thanks for trying.

Greatly appreciated! If you've got that down...try learning more! There is lots out there to learn! For instance trying different roms and kernals and see what you can find that someone hasn't or learn to build app(I'm working on one). Skys the limits....Always Challenge Yourself, even if you complete one thing.
Thanks for helping the Community, someone will find this helpful!

If memory serves; didn't Mkasick write a zip that prevented the stock recovery overwrite? This way, you could leave the "auto reboot" box checked in Odin when rooting? I seem to remember a follow-up QBK77 video chronicling such an event...
