so here it goes.. this is for u guys who favor froyo for its battery life and smoothness, i present to u NoName rom which based on froyo S5830DXKC1
Features:
1- based on froyo S5830DXKC1, flashed as onepackage and can downgrade from any gingerbread rom.
2- deodexed and prerooted.
3- default filesystem ext4.
4- cwm 4.0.0.9
5- cfroot b-81, so basicly u'll get any feature that came from this kernel eg smartass cpu governor, interactivex cpu governor, bln, cifs.ko, tun.ko etc etc.
6- host file modded to block ads.
7- modded build.prop
8- nexus bootanimation.
9- default gingerbread launcher.
10- font changed to more pleasant in the eyes one. seriously i really hate the letter "g" on any stock rom that use droidsans font
10- nexus iconset for all app that came default from this rom.
11- the smoothness and battery life of froyo
12- darktremore a2sd installed, but u need to activate it to use. do this on terminal:
Code:
su
a2sd reinstall
Howto install:
flash as onepackage via odin. odin 4.42 and cooper.ops included in archive. first boot it'll install csc and then it automatically reboot once again to cwm, this time u need to reboot again manually.

standard disclaimer applies, i wouldnt be responsible if bla3.. u know the drill

i'll add later. need to remember one by one. too sleepy rite now.
Download:

Bugs:
because this rom using cfroot b-81 kernel for froyo, i think i need to be clear on this one. ketut.kumajaya stated here that when using cfroot froyo kernel with deodexed system and framework, usb and wifi tethering failed to start. i cannot confirm this because i dont use tethering.

yes u can. this will automatically convert all ur system partition to ext4. and if u plan to use darktremore a2sd, sdcard partition could be either ext2, ext3 or ext4.

Retried now it works. Try http://search.4shared.com/search.html?searchmode=2&searchName=Ubuntu_R it's an apk, try installing and then changing via display>font.
Anyway, do you prefer using interactiveX or smartass?
both is almost similar, it rammed down cpu when screen off, so dont need screen off profile for both governor. but i think interactivex has better implement of it since its newer than smartass.

Smartass doesn't spin down to 122 in sleep. InteractiveX ramps up slower than ondemand. I don't know what to choose now ._.

Also, setCPU is not included as it's a paid app.

im not include it because the author restricted it for "free to use only" for us, xda user its not permitted to include it in any roms, but ofcourse its free for us. just head it here to download, and if u feel its worth it, donate by buying it from market

Hi, folks! Are you ok?
I'm new here (indeed in the Android's world), I can't post in development forum, so here I am.
I have instaled my first custom ROM right now, Kyrillos' ROM, but looks like de overclock feature not works.
My decision to choice this ROM its about a video I saw in YouTube showing the overclock in 1.3GHz, so, for me, this is a very important feature.
I check this in the setCPU and the value stills 667. I followed all the instructions, all the rest its run like a charm, I can run live wallpapers now and all the stuff, but the overclock thing is perturb me...
Anyone can help me with that?
PS: Sorry about not put the thread in the [OFFICIAL] Kyrillos' ROM Problems, Questions & Answers...
Hi..

Hi! Thank you for your fast reply!
So, that's another flash thing. OK. So, my serious doubts:
1 - Overclock that way may harm my phone? Life time of processor, battery temperature, things like that...
2 - What you indicate to my device (Samsung Galaxy 3 i5800), "performance" or "ultimate"?

1.Well the voltages aren't raised so overclocking won't hurt..
2. You can give them both a try. Had some flickering issues with ultimate so I'm using performance now..

Tell me one thing, if the voltages are not raised, how come battery consumption is more?? I am guessing, increase in frequency increases temperature and hence raises consumption. Or is it something else??

I've got no idea about that but overclocking doesn't cause much battery drain.. It drains more due to data connection specifically 3G..

You don t have to convert. That was only for the earlier versions of G3Mod. You can flash kernel directly without converting.

Download the the kernel that you want from here.
The details of the various kernels are as follows : -
Lite : - NON OC
Performance : - 190-950 MHz
Ultimate : - 200-1200 MHz
Extreme : - 200-1400 MHz
Copy the required .zip of the kernel to the SD card and apply via CWM recovery or just flash the .tar as one package using ODIN.
Then use SET CPU to overclock.

First let me start by saying I am by no means a developer. HOWEVER, Ive become somewhat obsessed with getting ram management right for my usage paterns. After a good week of fiddling around with different LMK values, this is where I ended. Blend of performance and keep in ram, i can have 3-4 apps open and hit the browser and it doesnt have to reload, and ive yet to see ram usage go above 293. It works for me so I want to share with the community. It is your choice on whether you want to keep zram or disable it. Some report better performance either way. This is not a "hack". It is a re-calibration of lmk settings. These settings have been tested on 0.4.4.16 and up versions of Talon kernel on Apex. I am not responsible for any mishaps.
Directions: Flash from CWM
UPDATE 11-1-11:
More effective lmk adj/oom settings
Changed lmk values to achieve balance of performance and memory
Adjusted home app adj value to prevent launcher kills
Adjusted home app mem to improve multi task
SPECIAL THANKS TO PIKACHU01 FOR IMPROVED LMK ADJ/OOM LEVELS
Special thanks to:
Existz for the outstanding feature packed Talon Kernel
Kodos96 for initial ram management
Apparition for creating the CWM flashable file
Anyone else associated with the development of the Talon Kernel
Juwe 11 for peaking my interest in ram management
And finally watsa for the masterpiece that is Apex 9.1
*Edit* PROCEDURE ONLY FOR TALON KERNEL! For other kernels, you must locate where your ram settings are located and adjust values there.

^^^^^i second that, im exceedingly curious about such scripts and how yours will stack up to v6 supercharger, or even how it will improve upon v6 when paired with it, but i cant pull up your screenshot (my computer at work issue, nothing wrong with it) so uploading the .conf file would be convenient

You might have to rename it to .txt before you upload it or add a .txt on the end and then just note in the OP to rename or remove the .txt I would suggest zipping it up, but some might think it's a CWM flashable zip and then spam the thread with post about not being able to flash it...

Update: New version 7.06 (UCKK4) from Samsung I897 source code.
UCKK4 kernel with Voodoo sound and color, BLN, 1200 mhz overclock, custom CwM 5, init.d, root, custom boot animation support, fully working nandroid, rfs/ext2/ext4 formatting, multiple tweak options and more!
No more Voodoo lagfix. Reformatting functions are contained in a new custom-modified CwM Recovery. Ext4, Ext2, and RFS formatting options are available for /system, /data, /dbdata, and /cache together and individually. Su / Superuser installation is available from within Recovery for un-rooted ROMs. Kernel tweaks are also available from within Recovery, as well as support for init.d scripts and sysctl.conf.
You can flash this over any supported partition scheme. Select OC, scaling governor, i/o scheduler, etc. in Recovery. Download BLN app from Market to control BLN, Voodoo Control app to adjust sound and color, and Voltage Control for under-volting (not recommended unless you know what you're doing). Please do not use Tegrak for this... the frequency table in this kernel is of a different design than that in Talon, Semaphore, etc.
--- IMPORTANT ---
Click to collapse
Please consider this somewhat experimental. It was a major pain to track down and piece together the missing parts of the source code, and should be considered a work in progress. Version 6.03 (repackaged stock kernel) is still available and reliable.
You might want to back-up and remove any shell scripts you have in your /system/etc/init.d folder until you have flashed this and can verify that they
are compatible and/or needed.
NEW - NEW - NEW: Version 7.0A is for those who have experienced reboots or want a basically stock kernel with BLN, Voodoo Sound, SIO and SmartassV2. No overclocking, Voodoo Color, TinyRCU, advanced ext4 driver, or other code modifications... just straight Samsung code. If you want overclocking, use Tegrak loadable module (paid version?) to provide that.
Please use this guide for reporting problems

I wondered about that... the ext4 part of Voodoo is just a bunch of shell scripts. I couldn't figure-out what you were compiling!

Can you attach the (zipped) log files or send them to me? Thanks.
Good day!
Sir Savie and Sir Kurutsogi I would like to ask regarding kernel. By the way I am using stock rom DXLF1 and with Data2SD of Kurutsogi http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622052 wherein my sd card has ext3 partition and the internal memory was changed from 290mb to 1gb.
My questions are:
1. If I will use the kernel of Savie (which was used in Icecream Bread rom and EVO X2 rom), will my current Data2SD will still work? If possible where can I get the boot.img file of Savies kernel? Also Sir Savie I was confused when I was reading you thread on kernel, Sir Savie can I get a link from you on the kernel that was used in Icecream Bread rom and Evo X2 rom?
2. If I have installed your kernel Sir Savie, is there a need to install app like the Nofrills CPU or CPU tuner in order to fully used the functions of kernel like changing the governors, i/o sched and frequencies? Or in you kernel, the said apps (CPU Tuner etc.) is already included and once your kernel is installed, all is done?
3. For my usage of SGY wherein, I have the Ram Manager Pro app, Start Up Auditor app, will it still be needed once I used your kernel Sir Savie? What settings should i used in the governors, i/o sched and frequencies if I only used my phone only for texting, calling, playing games (some HD games like assassins creed) fpse emulator, mp3 listening? Currently now my phone can get 88 to 98 mb RAM usage whenever I used the Easy task killer during making my phone iddle? Will this also possible when using Sir Savies kernel?
Sir Savie and Sir Kurutsogi hoping for your response and I would like to apologize to other XDA members for my questions and hoping for your kind understanding.
Thank you
am I dreaming? (lol)
EDIT: please forgive me. I never saw a question addressed politely like this one
1. if you're using my data2sd kernel, then the answer is no. you still can use this data2sd by creating a script in init.d folder. plz check additional stuff section in that thread. you don't need to clean your sdext partition. follow the step 1-4, reboot, done. this method have several bug, I hope you understand with the risk.
2. I don't know if savie include the app inside the zip file. you need to install them manually. nofrills is commonly enough for the govs n iosched modification. no need to use cpu tuner if you already have nofrills.
3. less ram doesn't always give good performance in android system. using a tweak is a lot better than clear the ram manually since it consume your battery a lot. the explanation is quite long. try to google it a lil bit.

Sir Kurotsugi thank you for your response. My apology for the polite posting. Its just I am new comer here and want to learn a lot from you experts.
Sir in your reply in question #1, it only means that data2sd can be used in savies kernel by creating script init.d folder but it results to bugs. So would it be best if I use savies kernel just used link2sd in order to save the 290 mb internal memory?
Lastly Sir in question #3 it is better to use custom kernel to achieve better ram management and battery used instead of my stock apps ram mgr pro start up auditor and easy task killer?
Sir please kindly reply if I got your advises correctly.
Thank you
savie's kernel support a lot of similar method like a2sd++, amarullz, sem, etc. you can try to use my akuro if you lil bit lazy to google it. for the ram question stuff, you can read this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1767363&page=120

Data2SD i thing support in my kernel but not with a2sd draktemor. Just make sure to clean 2nd partition to reduce error.

For all app that u say above i dont have it so u can try
For gaming use max freq with performance gov but for light use 312 with smartassV2 and sio its enough.

Sir Savie thank you for your response. Sir just a clarification, the Data2sd of Sir Kurotsugi which is installed in my phone will still work if I use your kernels?
What kernels of yours is the best to use Sir Savie from the three?
Sir Savie, do I still need the boot.img file in your kernels in order that the data2sd to work? Because the boot.img file that I have right now is from Sir Kuro. Sir please kindly include the boot img file for the three kernels which I will choose from.
Thank you again Sir Savie and hoping for your response

#60REV2 only different in cwm integrated with #60REV1
But for #73REV its minimalist kernel

Sir Savie thank you for your response. I just check the three kernel of yours and choose the best according to my preference. Sir sorry for my noob question when you say minimalist it means just a simple kernel that can improve battery and ram usage?
I will just install your kernel through cwm and if I got problem regarding the data2sd, I will just ask question from you.
Thank you

Sir Savie i have already prepared the back up files for tomorrow I will gonna be installing your kernel. Sir please forgive me I have to ask this noob question? What do you mean by the SGYbiCWM.zip in your previous response below
For my kernel link just go to my thread in 1st post.. its zip file that can u install via cwm.. no need to put boot.img in /sdcard then use SGYbiCWM.zip
Sir I have downloaded your #60REV2 and #73REV and check it, i can find the SGYbicCWM.zip.
Also Sir Savie may I ask again, If I would be using a custom rom and your kernel, will this procedure be the best in order to avoid problems.
1. Flash first in chosen Stock ROM
2. Wipe data and dalvik cache
3. Install the custom rom
4. Install the savie kernel.
Sir hoping for your response and please forgive me If I have so many questions. Thank you for your support

Good day!
Sir Savie, I have successfully installed you kernel #73REV together with rom Next to ICS by Avijit Ghosh82 in my SGY.
Sir I have some observations regarding your kernel and hoping for your comment or advise. Please see below.
1. When Installed your kernel, I followed everything on your thread wherein use CWM Skin 180, i mount the system, then do custom installation so I can add up other governors, other io scheds, bacem tweak, and all other items found in the custom installation window. Then began installing. After installation it displayed success but in the upper portion (I forgot the exact term) written with the count is displayed 0. Then after exiting the installation window it show up installation success savie in the CWM Skin 180 window. Then I reboot. After reboot, I checked the Settings and Info, in the kernel, it shows the old stock kernel. So i repeat the whole process again 2 times but still stock old kernel name display in the Settings.
What I did is that I do the whole process again but I do not mount the system in CWM. Then after installing and rebooting and checking again in the Settings, it showed up the the name of your kernel.
Sir Savie, is there any effect with what I did when I don't mount the system at CWM but it installed successfully and the name of your kernel appears in the Setting Menu- About the Phone menu? Please enlighten me.
2. Upon installation I noticed some of the governors and io sched in the CPU master is not showing up. So I read your thread again and see the something screw in #73REV kernel in you thread and followed step 2 installation wherein I downloaded and extracted the GovIO-tweak-1.zip then copy all the files in the modules then paste it on the /sdcard/.system-replacer/lib/modules/* then reboot. After I checked in CPU Master, there is some 3 or 4 governors lacking and io sched all are present.
Sir Savie, will there any problems arise if it lacks 3 or 4 governors?
3. Then I also notice in the main option of CPU Master is use max 312 min 156 then smartassv2 then tick the apply on boot then at the io sched I selected sio then apply. Whenever I shutdown then turn it on again, in the CPU Master it boot up the settings in the main menu i encoded which is max 312 min 156 then smartassv2 there i have no problem because CPU Master follows my setting. But in the io sched same scenario off then on SGY from my original setting sio it always choose deadline.
Sir Savie how can I make sio as the default selection whenever I turn off/on SGY?
4. In the CPU Master I dont see the option for changing the undervolting. Sir is it okay I I don't have the option for changing the volt and run the default volt in #73REV kernel which is -80mV?
5. I used Link 2sd because the data2sd of Sir Kuro doesn't work on your kernel then i link the CPU master in SD card. Sir Savie, will there be problems in terms of using the CPU Master when loading or changing governors or io sched?
Sir Savie my apologies If I have so many observation. Sir Savie hoping for your kind responses with my 5 questions.
Thank you

If u in 73rev so just make sure in recovery mode (cwm) u mount /system before install zip package like re-install savie73rev_kernel.zip..
Dont worry in count 0 coz its bugs from aroma..
To change other kernel put other kernel in /sdcard/boot.img then follow step in above but in custom installation choose other kernel..

He is working on a new release, it's better to wait for it, but if you insist, here is a link to the current release
http://www.mediafire.com/?4crbdo338xzh4zh
And don't forget to read the notes he wrote:
Please upgrade even if you're happy with a prior version as there are some prospective issues with continuous debuggerd restart on prior versions which can result in your phone doing more work than necessary.
It is recommended to uninstall a prior version by flashing the attached uninstall ZIP before flashing the latest version.

I think its best to stick with the simple 1. The haveged & the move random to urandom. That seems harmless to all.
Thanks for suggesting. It gav me the idea.

Any reason to use .79 instead of .58 enhanced?
Any reason to use smartassV2 instead of improved Virtuous in Lupus kernel?
What about SD-card speed and Supercharged?

1) .79 is the newest FW.
2) I don't have knowledge about governers, so I just set the same settings that I read in members' signatures. :cyclops:
3)I don't know how to get my phone supercharged as that thread is very messy and ununderstandable. :crying:
