I'd rather have ICS on my Tablet. Although there's no need to hack the dumps, since Google announced to release the ICS sources soon.

Same here. Already a custom ROM availbe for the nexus s so that's a good sign
I would like to see it on my Acer,Asus and EVO,but the HTC EVO is still in the gingerbread phase,so it might be a few for my phone.
those sayin they would prefer honeycomb on their tablets.
remember ICS will have source out, meaning REAL custom roms
honeycomb will never get this.
therefor ICS will be the right choice for tablets!

I mailed to samsung about updates and service called me. I talked long.
I asked about ics for us. And they said galaxy s will get all updates till android ends.
I understand we will get ics and all of the next updates.
Can this be real?
(Also they confirmed a new rom end of this month.)
Sorry for my english.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
No, it can't be real because there will come a time where the sgs specs will no longer be enough to run the latest android. Or Samsung will decide to stop investing in the sgs. Porting costs money.

I'm pretty sure, Samsung Galaxy S will continue to get updates as long as 2.x.x continues and it will continue for low-end devices, such as security updates and bug fixes. Heck, Amazon Kindle has an 2.x.x android and is grand hit in US for instance or just like Firefox 3.x is continuing to get updates as 3.x.x still...
But I don't think it will get official Ice Cream Sandwich but sure 4.0 will be out for it, unofficially...

OMG I just installed service pack 3 on my brand new windows XP !! I know, it's an unofficial leaked version...
About the samsung answer, of course it's bullcrap, but it's phone service, im not surprised.
Actually it wouldn't surprise me that the person you talked with had absolutely no idea what android is, he just said random stuff about it "yea until android exists, sure, bye!"
I don't think sgs will get ics. If it would why didn't they announce it at the same time they said sgs2 will get it??
Let's be negative so we can be happily surprised if we get it

They are indeed still releasing updates for firefox 3. But they are encouraging people to update to the latest version. Support for FF3 will stop in a while imo. They won't be putting effort forever in a legacy firefox
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Ontopic: tbh the reason why it is taking so long for ics updates is probably because touchwiz has to be rewritten for ICS. I wouldn't count on an ics update for the galaxy s (not saying it's not possible) but i wouldn't care to much. We will still be getting ics though cyanogen if samsung doesnt release it officially

I don't remember any "official"announcement for Gingerbread...
And, as far as being "positive/Negative", it is wrong, being realistic you should understand that you DON'T KNOW
This is like Schrödinger's cat, until you have the information, you just don't know.
I emailed the support and asked similar questions.. Lets see what they anwser..
We shall get it one way or another and it shall run just fine Its like saying Win7 won't install on an old system running XP. It'll run and run better just turn off the bloat ware..

I'm giddy with excitement.
So what does that mean for us zoom owners?
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
That since they are both tegra 2 it is possible we could get it ported over
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Also to me it means that they were able to get the Radio enabled in ICS for Mobile Data, whereas it's still being worked on w/ the current ICS builds for the Xoom.
And hoping once it's up and running on the Galaxy Tab the port time to the Xoom should be minimal.

Don't be silly. We all know Samsung won't be supporting this tab past ICS.
It's ridiculous! The glitches are not yet solved on the ics yet! Even official versions not out yet and they started up with jellybean
But the news is that android 5.0 will support notebooks desktops as well

Looks like all tegra ii phones will never take any ics update at all , all other phones already got it.
dont be silly , quit waiting for an update and buy a snapdragron chip

Why do you wait for ICS when there is Jelly Bean? ICS is obsolete.
What's a Tegra ii? Is it anything like a Tegra II?
Sent my Atrix that is faster than most phones
1) Motorola is working on ICS for the Atrix 4G... Why don't you look on Moto's forum ?
2) When ICS is released for the Atrix the ICS drivers will be used for JB
3) Stop raging and just be patient... I paid 300€ for a phone that kicks many more expansive phones, with a badass dock. I'm waiting for the ICS update, but you can fully enjoy it with a stock/Blur ROM.

No it doesn't
Its only scheduled for ICS in Q4 2012. If the Photon had official ICS, CM9 for our Atrix would be totally functional. Video recording, hardware acceleration. Everything would be working.

In other news, even though I swore to never buy a Tegra device ever again, I got a Nexus 7 last month. And I love it.
There is a driver pack from nvidia but it only working for 3.xxxx kernel. So now we are waiting for Motorola.

Look at my signature. This ROM has all the features my Nexus 7 has. I can do everythingJB has to offer except camcorder and there is a work around for that. I'm not a huge fan of the fingerprint sensor or webtop and I do not film with my phone.
Once you try JB it is very hard to go back to any previous Android OS. So, even if ICS gets officially released, I will not go back to any ICS based ROMs. I really hope whatever the devs can scavenge out of this official firmware can be used to make JB based ROMs even better.

Not necessarily.
Today I installed CM10 because I had to do some testing. I did a nandroid backup of my current setup (CM7.2-based) and I did a restore as soon as I was done testing. Don't get me wrong, everything worked fine, I think it was just a too big of a leap for me and I didn't feel comfortable on it as I do on a GB ROM. So yeah, just like everybody else I'm also waiting and hoping there will be an official ICS release, but I definitely won't be the first one to jump to it.
Sorry for off-topic.
