Currently have a droid incredible and have flashed every possible rom, radio combo. Im a heavy user so battery life has always been an issue although improved with a rom known as mcsenseless, im still longing for better battery life. How does the X stand up in the battery dept.?
The Droid X can get up to twenty hours, although it's uncommon.
I average twelve to fifteen hours with moderate usage.

And thats wih the regular battery? Im using a seidio 3500 and get anywhere from 6-8 hours of actual usage.
*with moderate usage and a good custom rom maybe. I can get over twelve hours with cm7 and CPU profiles and moterate usage.

On an additional note, I believe that stock based roms get better battery life than 2ndInit roms such as MIUI and CyanogenMod.

Im aware of the support, flashed just about every rom out there. But if the droid x does well with battery and cell reception. I may need to jump over. I found a good combination to better the battery life but like I said still wanting more

Not paying full price for the bionic and im not eligble for an upgrade until november of 2012.
I got myself a droid x and I am not happy. it's got a lot of cool features, but wifi has been super flakey, both when connecting to the AP, and when acting as a hotspot. I used to have a samsung vibrant, which might not have been the best of breed, but at least wifi worked fine. With this pos, I can never tell if wifi is working or not. Tried to use it as a hotspot - had to reboot twice during 30 minutes of use. If I was looking for a phone now - I'd rather take samsung fascinate
Depending on settings and usage, as well as what tweaks you're using, the Droid X can last anywhere from 3 hours(Angry Birds marathon play) to 2 or 3 days(keeping your pocket company) on its stock battery. However, I don't recommend getting it, as there are a number of connectivity flaws(wi-fi, hotspot, and dropping from 3G almost every day on stock) that make the phone a hassle. True, it scores better in benchmarks than the Droid Inc, but waiting for now is probably best. After all, new phones with better processors will soon be coming around and that exta power will be worth waiting for.
You can get the droidX and snag this sexy beast of a script here for it...

But oh man..the battery is terrible. Granted I am on the stock battery and Rom/kernel. Where can I get the best deal on an extended battery? Also what the hell is with flashing radios and does cm6 require it?

Yeah, the battery life is horrid but that's because they decided to put in a 1300mah battery into it! wtf?
Comparable phones use the 1500mah battery stock!
Anyways, I bought the HTC OEM 1500mah battery for the incredible and it's like a normal phone. It also fits in with the stock battery door.
Bought it off htcpedia... you can probably find it on ebay for cheaper but i just dont trust ebay anymore.
I actually use the stock kernel now as it's light years better than the stock kernel before the last update.
EDIT: not sure if this is a serious question but the ADR6300 is your phone model.
Also, forgot to mention you are probably new enough to maybe not know about the whole bump charging thing. look it up, it will add a couple hours to your battery life.
I found the 3500 mah batteries (stick out a little in the back, which means they come with a new cover as well) for a good deal on Amazon. I'm not sure if it's within the ToS of this site to include links like this?

well the X has a better screen and it is noticeably faster when it comes to certain games. running liberty, overlocked/undervolted at 1.1gz on the stock batttery i was getting 2 days of battery life.
the INC has a larger more robust dev community and if that is what you are into, it is a huge plus. there are only so many themes you can flash on the X before getting bored.
sense >>>>>>>> motoblur. the droid x is almost un-useable with the stock software, IMO.
I have had both phones. I like the bigger screen and battery life of the DX, but if you are into modding your phone the Dinc is the way to go!! There are really only two or three roms for the DX. Just in the week or so that I've had my Dinc I am blown away at the level of support!! Dinc FTW!!

Hey guys,
I am thinking of purchasing a certified used Fascinate to a) have another phone to play with and b) lock myself into the unlimited data plan before VZW cuts me off this summer (i am month to month right now.)
is it a good phone? i know the screen is brilliant. how is the battery life? i have a Dinc and it cant be worse than that. how is the dev community? is cm7 available?
any thoughts or opinions would be great.. thanks.
I think its a great phone and we have a great dev community. However, it won't help you lock in unlimited. As soon as anyone upgrades to a lte phone you'll be forced to get a new plan. That's what happened when 3g came out and it will happen with 4g on all big carriers. I.e. at&t peeps will lose their grandfather clause too with lte. Sucks but its how they work.

i have no plans to upgrade to a 4g phone at this time, at least not through verizon. i am only looking to secure my $29.99 unlimited data for the time being.
Verizon hates me; Its an argument every time I get a new phone, but I insist on keeping my exisiting plan.
Im paying Alltell rates from a plan 4 years old. To get the exact same service branded 'Verizon', Id have to pay $25 more a month for two phones.
Its all a game. If you like your plan after your contract, they cant force you to change unless you go to LTE or something that isnt supported on your current plan.
it's a great phone! lots of potential, and, if you read everything you can in the fascinate forums here, you will learn a lot. the screen was what made me choose it over the droid x. i don't regret it at all.
Battery and Screen have to go to the fascinate but if your looking at ROMs I would stick with the DINC. There is no groundbreaking or impressive ROM development out here for the fascinate. So you wont see a fully functional Ultimate Droid, MIUI, or CM ROM. Who knows if there will ever be innovative and feature-packed ROMs for us here.
now everyone can start bashing me
Well from what I read now that froyo is available the fascinate is the most state of the art single core 3g android phone on Verizon.
Screen is impressive and looks better than the INC. Battery life really depends on what kernel and rom you choose, like other phones. The Fascinate, although it has a great dev community, because Samsung's being a douche about Froyo and its source for the Fascinate, many custom roms like CM, and MIUI, and roms with special addons are not quite there yet, but we do have stable Froyo roms and themes. No custom kernels for Froyo yet because of lack of source.

If it weren't for the Devs there wouldn't be any Froyo. The false promises of an update have been frustrating but I've been using the leaked version in the Super clean rom for awhile and I love it.
To sum it up for you quickly, you want custom stuff, stay with the incredible or move on to the Thunderbolt, but if you want the best hardware and media playback on the market, get the Fascinate.
I have been using certified used for about a month.
Looked good as new, they put in new battery, charger, rear cover, etc.
Works well...have bricked twice and had no issues that were related to hardware.

so well worth the $35 dollars? lol
i do have the INC for development but my concern is that my inc only gets good battery life if i run cm6.1 with a very modified kernel.
what is the average battery life on a froyo rom? lets say... moderate use.
no one has anything else to say about their phone they use everyday?
I came from a D1 and would not go back. Miss some of the the things from CM but am happy with what I can do so far.
Mine will last a typical moderate (i even play some games) day off the charger with SC** rom's. Just updated today to latest so dont know on it yet.
Rom's will only get better.

As far as custom Roms go battery life is all over the board. When I was using SC 2.2 my battery life was good, but it dropped off on 2.4, 2.6, and 2.7. Now that I'm using 2.8 it's good again but different people have different results because their are so many ways to customize. The worst battery life I got was with the stock rom.
Seidio makes a 1600mAh slim battery which gets you an additional 100mAh without replacing your battery door; Not that signifigant but the 3000mAh extended battery is a huge jump.
I do agree that the picture quality is second to none. It has a beautiful screen.
Battery life depends on how you use and how you define "light", "moderate", and "heavy" usage. For me, moderate usage will get me around 15-20 hours of battery life. Phone will lose about 1-1.5% an hour when it is idle with screen off so standby time is very good.
Phone is fast and stable. Media playback is top-notch. The screen is beautiful and quite responsive to input. The phone feels decent in your hand though I do prefer it with a rubberized case. I have the Otterbox Impact and I find that it gives the phone a perfect feel for my hand.
I honestly have no complaints with the Fascinate aside from Sansung being slow to update it. That said, with Superclean 2.8 I'm pretty sure I'll never use the Froyo OTA update anyway. We also have a buddding dev scene. A CM7 port and framework are in the works, along with a custom 2.2 kernel, and a MIUI port.
I'm certainly biased, but I would recommend the Fascinate to just about everyone except for people who NEED a hardware based keyboard.
My battery life is very good with any use.
I know others have used varying beta roms and have battery issues.
I have had zero of these issues.
My battery always lasts a full day easily (last night after being unplugged for ~20hrs it still had over 40% life).
I use it daily with these basic cases:
get up around 6:30am....
unplug, read email/messages, check out online game (diplomacy), check some news, check calendar...
throughout day...
use various tools, browser, map, gps on, xda, diplomacy, etc, use pandora for couple hours as i hit the gym...
I then plug in at bedtime between 11pm and 1am.
Rarely it will be in a low red colored %. Great majority of time its between 20 and 40%.
Only time frame I needed to plug in during day was on days when I was making extensive phone calls (hours for various issues) or right after I got Angry Birds. Played continuously for a week.
Hi guys, I have a Sprint NS 4g. (saw another similar thread, but they are discussing ROMs for the other versions...) I stopped using it because the battery life is miserable even though I have 0% Time Without Signal. (My rooted Evo literally lasts 3x as long at this NS.) Therefore I am looking into alternative ROMs.
Any idea which of the above ROMs has better battery life?
Thanks!
I've been using mikeyinid's rom in the ns4g dev section. It's titled "updated 6/27/11..." using matr1x kernel. Had very good battery ever since he went to the new kernel and I'm using it as-is. No performance tweaks.

If you are using your phone non-stop, meaning you have the screen on straight periods of time, 5 hours is not bad, really. You have to remember that the SAMOLED screen sucks battery down. On the weekends when my phone is on all the time, I generally have to swap batteries 2 or 3 times in a day. Thats very heavy use, of course. During the week with moderate use, texts, gtalk, emails, and xda app, I get 10- 12 hours on a charge. Screen on time is a killer with the NS
Why does this thread get more hits than mine?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
I am trying Soju right now - so far it looks and feels elegant.
My NS4G gets way better battery life than my Evo did probably almost twice as long. But aside from that I have had good lick with open soju and Cyanogen. Open Soju was nice because it has voodoo control for headset audio which really takes advantage of the wolfson headphone amp built into the ns. Voodoo makes the audio like night and day once you have tried it you cant go back. Than Cyanogen is great many options but to get voodoo I had to use nets kernel. Both having great battery life but Cyanogen has more options but its still in beta.
Edit: I did not really answer your question about the GB-Deck because I have not used it but have heard good things you have to flash gapps with it like Cyanogen.
There's really something to be said for turning down the screen brightness. Also make sure you have wifi sleep on never. Try james bond kernel and let it settle for a couple days. First day or two of a new rom/kernel will be a little low on battery

Hi. I'm thinking about flashing my first ROM on the Droid X. I've been using rooted GB for awhile and I'm finally just getting bored and ready to try something different. I really am not looking for much though. My order of prefs are:
Stability > Battery Life > Performance
Mods and tweaks and things of that nature are not really a huge concern for me. I just want everything to work well, and have great battery life. I'd love to hear some suggestions.

i know this is gonna sound funny maybe.
i have a vzw droid-x that i am running the alltel rom on.
i put the phone in airplane mode and enable:
wifi off never
power savings wifi always on
i get at least 24hrs
now the equivalent rom to this would be the vzw 2.2.340
if you do not enable airplane mode and disable everything else i dont see why you would not be able to get the same results.
i get amazing battery life with the rom i said i was using above and dont forget this is with an "always on wifi" never ever disconnects
DSX and Shuji are great candidates for you. DSX is not flashy. It is completely reliable and battery life is stellar. You will not be disappointed. Shuji has great battery life as well and is more customizable. My primary phone always stays on DSX though. Ran 5 straight hours of Netflix and still had 5% left. Not sure too many roms can do that.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I also run DarkSlideX and can verify what is said above. Battery life is excellent. I probably make 20-30 minutes of call a day along with 2-3 dozen texts and 2-4 hours of web, forums, etc. I'm usually off the charger around 6:30am and back on it around 9-10pm with 20-30% battery remaining.
Stability has been awesome as well. I have had one reboot in 2 months, it happened about an hour after flash and that was it. BBCrackman did an excellent job with this.
If you want to try a theme for it, wulf has made some equally as nice themes, too. There are also a few custom sliders and a crt mod, too.
Everything can be found at MyDroidWorld and each has a dedicated thread complete with instructions. Best part is you're already on the pre-rooted 596, so all you should have to do is flash DSX right on top.
EDIT: also, much of the VZW bloat has been removed and it still has some blur present. HDMI support is working, too.

I'm not quite sure how to respond to Apex and 18 hours of HEAVY usage. On a stock battery? Up till now I've never questioned someone's post, but this individual seems to have a serious question he'd like some input on. I don't have to be a modder, developer or themer to know no rom gives 18 hours of heavy use unless it's hooked up to a car battery. And even that may be questionable.

I'm just wondering because the biggest complaint with 10, 10.1 and now 10.2 seems to have been battery life. In fact that tends to be the case for almost all of the custom ROMs with few exceptions. (uXylon has great battery life for a non-stock custom ROM, for instance).
So what likelihood is there to expect very much improved battery life on CM 10.2? Any thoughts?
BTW - this isn't a gripe on the devs' work, I really want to know what is reasonable to expect.

battery life is what you make of it - power users are going to need to a recharge during the day while casual users should be able to get through the day just fine.
in my experience, for the most part, battery life has been fairly consistent. I can go a full day (6am-11pm) on a single charge so long as I keep my on-screen time under 3 hours. this is very acceptable to me. there is no need for me to go 24 hours given that I sleep for at least 7 of them (thus, I'll charge it then)
Yeah, that's how I have seen it as well. It's all relative to how you use your phone and what your expectations are. But you know we constantly see post from guys who aren't content with battery life no matter what it is. That's why I was looking for some feedback on what is usual, customary and reasonable.

Good to see another fellow R800x user adopt an XT907 (I've counted 5 so far)
Still waiting on official ICS...
I think this is a great question to ask. While some are content with battery life, others are not. For example, there is no way I could continue to use Liquid rom and expect any sort of reasonable battery life with how I use my phone. As much as I loved the rom itself, it simply wouldn't last long enough between charges. With AOKP I normally charge my phone in the evening (then unplug it.. Never leaving it charged overnight), and once in the afternoon and I'm good. I'm on it constantly and one charge a day with my normal usage never did it for me.. Even on stock. For some reason some roms just seem to handle battery life far better than others no matter what I am doing on my end to conserve battery power (Screen brightness, Greenify, etc). Over the weekend I was able to get 19 hours out of it with far less usage than normally since we were out enjoying the day at a winery. To me, the battery life I get with AOKP seems better or equal to what it was before unlocking the bootloader.

as a power user im on my phone CONSTANTLY playing games and tethering and whatnot. i have to say i have found CM 10.1 roms to be quite generous on battery so far. i throw my CPU up to 1500 min/max when i plan to play COD: BOZ or Dead Trigger and ill get quite a few hours out of it off the charger before i get warned about it dying.
AOKP and Slim based ROMs have had pretty good battery life for me. When I was running CM10, it was nearly identical to stock battery life, but CM10 is 4.1.2 based. If an OEM 4.2.2 based ROM is released, they'll be able to sync it against 4.2.2 AOSP and make things work well (atleast, that's how I picture it in my head). With that being said, I am running Illusion, with Arrghh's kernel and XBreeder, and I'm sitting at about 12% battery, 36 hrs of up time, and 2.5hrs of screen on time. This is about as good as what I would see when I was running tweaked stock.
Battery life is also dependent on how long you've had your current OS running (in my experience, anyway). A lot of us around here are crackflashers and we never let a ROM settle in. I was getting average battery use on Ilusion, but it's gotten better in the last few days.
I got a new battery off amazon and been getting great battery life again. I think i borked my old one.
AOKP almost always lasts me through the day unless I go over 3 hours of screen time
