Hi all...
Just for know if exist a way to rescue my milestone 2, I get it really hot since I installed a lot of apps, so used app remover (the phone was rooted) to "recycle" or disable motoblur apps, but I didn't make it well. I get back all that apps but the original blur launcher and dial program didn't worked.
So decided reset to factory settings, now I cannot access to the launcher, so I just see the HSPDA indicator, cannot recieve calls, cannot do anything.
I will send it to warranty tomorrow, this is just for know if there is something to do before, of course, I cannot configure to usb debugging, so I guess I cannot do anything.
Thanks...
Flash the stock rom sbf with RSD lite, and you will be fine
you can find the sbf files here:
http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2
Download the SBF according your region here:
http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2
Turn off the phone.
Turn on the phone holding vol down and camera buttons.
You will enter in Bootloader mode.
Flash with RSDLite.

Yes, I read it before, the problem for me is not sbf from my carrier, iusacell in mexico, just telcel, but is not my carrier.
But, this phone is from the job, they bought more, so I have this question, ¿Is there a way to dump a valid rom from a partner with the same phone and then flash it to mine?
It wold be great! Since my phone was rooted, I guess the warranty is lost...
Thanks!

You can do a nandroid backup using the Droid2Bootstrapper from a partner phone, and copy to your phone and do a restore.
Hi, have you tried to install adw or som eother home laucncher using adb? I think that way you can fix your problem , im not sure if its correct but it should be like :
> adb install launcher.apk

So I just got my Sasktel phone back from Futuretel.
waited over 4 weeks.
I turn on my phone, goes to main menu. ASKS FOR AN UNLOCK CODE!!!!!!
Sasktel doesnt have a network lock. I work for Sasktel in repair , and theres nothing we can do on our side.
I called Futuretel, and after waiting for half an hour, I get a msg telling me that they cant do anything, and that I will have to send the phone back.
Anybody know if reflashing a new JL2 will remedy my issue, or is this network lock tied to the mainboard itself?!?
how about this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913681
and you posted in the wrong section of the forum by the way...
out of curisoity, would reflashing a different firmware change that lock? Or is that something tied up to the mainboard?
I was gonna ODIN in a new JL2 and hope it fixes!~
You can unlock it with one of several apps on the Market but you shouldn't have to unlock it if it is a SaskTel phone (on SaskTel's network). Maybe check the product code and see if it is maybe a Bell phone they sent back.

yes, buy the SGS unlock pro app for $5
it works
but the guide i liked is even easier, just go in and delete the files, and it works, FREE!!
make sure you make a backup first
That guide is really long and complex (all the root commands), unless im missing something.
I saw your comment, but Im not sure I understand if you went thru all the steps, or if u just went and deleted 3 files and u were unlocked?!?!?

Ok, so I've been trying to examine what I've done but i don't know. The problem is, I unlocked my phone to all networks for free, how, I don't know, I only rooted it and installed/restored 3-4 ROM's. I didn't mess with digging on system files etc. I tryed to do this on the same friend's X8 and it didn't work. So, have I burned something or what? Very interesting, huh..
P.S. I buyed it new and it wasn't unlocked.
Are your phone and your friend's phone the same model? If not, that's the answer. Not all phones can be unlocked by flashing a new ROM. For example, my dad's phone worked for that effect. (A ZTE Blade) But my phone (A Sony Ericsson Xperia X8) doesn't work for that effect.
If I helped you, press the "THANKS" button!
Quite interesting.
Gonna try this with my x8.
Well according to other user, the SIM lock is included in the bootloader or the kernel I don't know exactly so something must have happend to them.
Also are you 100% sure that your phone was locked to a single carrier?
i dont think that its possible to unlock a phone through installing custom roms, unless the phone that the custom rom was developed on was unlocked? :S
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
SIM-lock info is stored in TA. It's hashed.
Baseband/radio reads this info. Radio handles SIM-card. It's hashed too (amss.sin/fota.sin).
Nothing can be done from within Android system to bypass this.
Yes, my friend's phone & mine are exactly the same. We even buyed it in the same store. One guy told me that unlocking with ROM is imposible and that's truth but in the other way he said that I burned radio controller or something like that.
@pandza94 Yes, I'm 100% sure, I tried with another SIM card and it didn't work (when i buyed the phone)

You are not the only one that unlocked x8 on that way.
I bought xperia x8 in tele2 and it was locked. I tryed other operators sim card but it didnt work.
But after flashing rom (instaling custom rom) I got my phone unlocked. Dont know how I do it but I do it ( I didnt know that I can do that, I just wanted to install custom rom)
@r4z0ry I bought it in bonbon option, but they have same delivery as tele2. I'm not so smart about android developing etc. but maybe ROM can acces those amss.sin/fota.sin files and unlock them? Sorry if I asked a stupid question
I dont know
I just bought form tele2 and I tryed to insert bonbon (tmobile) sim card but it wasnt accepted, but after rooting (or rooting and flashing) I tryed to insert bonbon sim and it worked, so I know that I unlocked x8 but dont know how

Hello everybody...
I'd really like to flash the CM rom from jackpotcalvin on my German Motorola Pro.
The only thing missing is the right SBF-file (vodafone). Did anyone get his hands on it yet? I am searching for days now without any luck...
I would really apprechiate your help!
thanks
I think there is no option to get the SBF file yet. I have the same german vodafone version and I've bricked it because I'm stupid. Now, I have a beautiful and expensive paperweight.
its a bit off topic, but why don't you just send it to vodafone and let them reflash the phone? it will cost you a few euros but you will have a usable phone again.

What are the bands used for GSM by your carrier?
The phone is factory SIM unlocked, meaning that it will accept any SIM, but if the bands for your carrier are the same as US GSM, you need to use the method here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542 to open up those bands...
Also, if you haven't already, you'll want to edit your build.prop for GSM use. I'm probably gonna write up a guide on how to do it here eventually so I have an easy link to point to.
Also, FWIW, you won't really get an improvement on stock if you're having connection problems. If anything, stock will lock you down more because Verizon is annoying...

wait... what do you mean by dialpad?
Do you mean the dialpad that you can access in-call? Like to "press 1 to continue"?
There should be a button on the bottom-right to access that... just tap it and it will appear

Hi there, new to the forums posting but I read here constantly. I have an sm-900w8 note from Telus in Canada. I was running a custom rom before and decided I wanted to go back to stock before the Kitkat release. Anyway, I flashed the rom from sammobile.com that was for my phone (the link said it was for telus and the file even ends in TLS). So I flash it using odin and everything is perfect, the phone reboots and odin is finished. After that I decided I wanted to clear all my data and apps off the phone as well so I did a factory reset. The next time I turn the phone on everything is working (wifi gps ect) but I can't get on the network and it says I don't have a valid SIM. Also I notice the app packages from telus are not the correct ones and one of them is labelled Bell. So I am guessing the site has the bell firmware for telus as well? This doesn't matter to me but I do need my network running. Do you think it would just be a modem problem? Any information would be GREATLY appreciated guys!

The first and most important question: Do you have a backup of your EFS folder?
If so, you'll be happy. If not, prepare for the worst case scenario.

Well, that's not exactly accurate. The phone can boot with a corrupted EFS, but you will get no network access (and no IMEI number.)
It's happened to me, so I know it's possible. It's a common symptom of the OP's issues on Samsung devices.

Yeah I am sure I'm not in dire straights yet and lucily I have my backup phone to use for now. I am wondering though, sammobile is the most legit source for stock firmware around, do you guys have any suggestions? Or can I possibly even try just flashing a new modem through odin? (I have never done this but seems easy enough)

True, however, OP states that it was Telus FW that was downloaded and flashed...but it's showing BELL.settings, So the probability of it being EFS is low, it's sim locked the device via the BELL firmware more than likely. Reflashing the correct or unbranded firmware will indeed fix it

Well Sammobile isn't immune to mistakes, but it's rare it happens, they're genuine enough.. You could try the modem, first thing I'd do is test the back up and see if it's the downloaded ROM that has cause the issue.
And yes, you can flash the modem via Odin.
