Could someone that updated SGS2 to KF3 firmware tell me the app version numbers for the stock Email.apk and the Social Hub.apk?
I want to know whether these apps were updated.
Version numbers for apps can be seen in Titanium Backup.
Thank you!
For XWKF3 the version of email.apk is 3.0.0.1 and for the Sosial Hub, 2.00.00001
Great, thanks!
Still the same version numbers, so I guess no changes were made.

Checked this morning, JP5 upgrade is now available. (There was a JP3, JP4, JP5) combination of firmware, I probably picked the wrong one. Once my phone reboots I'll let you know more
Didnt' lose apps or contacts or SMS.
Did nuke my layout for Touchwiz though.
All the apps are sorted alphabetical now

Hi there,
I've a galaxy s running 2.2.1 I think, kies reports the current firmware version is JF3, but the latest is JPY.
I only got it to this state last week, and am not sure I can be bothered upgrading and having to set up bookmarks etc again.
Can anyone tell me the benefits of JPY compared to JF3?
Thanks

you can check the android version in "about this phone", not only the firmware code name.
Any Android 2.2.1 *stable* (not leaks) for the Galaxy S is fine in my opinion. Changes are usually minimal from version to version.
But i'm not sure if JF3 is 2.2.1.
Jf3 is 2.1, a really slow version.
Upgrading to jpy is deffinetly worth it.
You get tons of new things like flash player.
And its much, much faster.

Hi, I've been wondering something and I'm not sure how it'll go. I wanted to ask you guys about this before I give it a shot. I have a R800a xperia play so its bootloader is locked. Currently the only way to get root is to use the UK firmware at 2.3.2 then OTA it. Now that's fine, but it doesn't update to 4.0.a.2.368.
So my question is could I flash 4.0.a.2.368 fw then backup the whole system with titanium (or another app) then flash 2.3.2 do the OTA and then restore the 4.0.a.2.368 apk's in order to get new features? Basically I'd technically be at the previous fw 3.0.1.a.0.145 (which is also the same android version 2.3.3) with updated system apps. I figured that's basically what this update was anyways, so it may work. What do you guys think?
Edit: Sorry, I mean't to put this thread as [Q] but forgot to select to box. If any moderators see this, can you do that for me? Thanks.
I cannot receive any OTA update, is there any rom suitable for me to manually flash to honeycomb 3.2?? Thanks all bros!
Me,too.
Are you in Taiwan?
Stock Rooted ROM Posted in Developers Section
I just flashed the stock rooted 3.2 ROM that is posted in the developers section of the forum. So far, it is working well for me. I was running 4.010.13. From what I understand, the last two numbers are for the flex ROM and do not mean much to anyone except ACER. I wiped cache, wiped Dalvik cache, and flashed. All of my apps and widgets are still on my tablet and are running fine. My software version number is now 7.006.001. I hope this advice helps.
No, Mine is HK version
Well,hk and Taiwan are the same firmware.
I gave service center a call, but none answered the phone.

Same here but on a PACKARD BELL LibertyTab and running very smooth with the THOR 3.4 kernel.
Just updated with CWM.
I have the 4.0.10.39 as well. I bought mine in Hong Kong, I think Taiwan and Hong Kong have the same version.
There is no point to update to 3.2 through OTA at this moment unless you want to lose root. There is a "Acer_A500 OTA 7.006.01 [HC 3.2]" rooted stock rom in the dev forum and it works on my A500 (Taiwan/HK version). This rom can be installed through CWM, the best thing is all the settings and apps will remain untouched, just like an OTA update, and everything is nearly 3.2 stock and have root access.
Root access is essential for me since I need to replace the stock's Droid Sans FallBack font in order to display more HK Chinese characters. The stock acer's font is only 3.5MB, as I always replace it with the Galaxy S's 4.3MB one.
The stock Chinese input method XT9 is still there, and 3.2 finally fixed the slow Chinese input in portrait mode. No major problem so far, really worth the upgrade.

But you know, for me 3.1 (4.010.39) has too many small bugs, which I cannot accept, lag UI experience when it is in portrait mode, web surfing lag, video decoding (720p) (though this is the common problem of tegra devices),...etc. I am not care too much about the root, as the most important feature of rooted a500 is titanium backup...
You can check update right now!
My tablet is updating to Android 3.2
Remind you that there is no method to root OTA 3.2 at this moment
I am using 3.1 virtouso piccasso and it works very nice, but due to curiosity i want to try ROM for 3.2 like other is it possible to flash it?
Now that i'm rooted, I need a backup plan incase any of the mods I do breaks the system. I went to SamMobile's website for the firmware, and the only firmware that matches, says it's for the Canadian device. All the information matches on my US model as the Canadian firmware. In fact, there is no US model listed on their Firmware list. Has anyone tried flashing the Canadian Firmware to their US Tab with success? Please let me know so I can safely start to make mods to me system. Thanks.

need to reset
Im also interested on install this version to see if it fixs the choppy video playback issue
To fix choppy vid playback on my 8.0 tab I removed most of the preloaded apps and pushed aside the stock TouchWiz launcher for Nova launcher. All my video apps played smooth afterward.
The preloaded apps and stock launcher are hogs. Free up memory and it should fix video playback.

I wish I could give you a complete list of what I removed. However I didn't make one. My advice. Back up your system, delete 1 or 2 at a time, reboot, continue on. Anything from Samsung I tried to remove. IF not sure about removing a particular app, google its use, ask here, make a copy first.
Stock Netflix 1.8.1
i tried disabling almost everything , it tried without adding any account to avoid updates, what finally works was to install stock Stock Netflix 1.8.1
what i think is happening is that Netflix mistakenly try to reproduce 1080p video, and that is to much for the tablet, old Netflix is cap at 720p and there isn't to much difference really since tablet is only 800p.
video plays smooth using old netflix no matter default process are running in background.
i went to ask full refund and get another one, same problem.
