Gingerbread Launcher for CM7 - Atrix 4G General

I've built the launcher from source. I've only tested this on pre-beta3 and pre-beta4. From what I can tell it's safe to uninstall ADWlauncher and just run the Gingerbread Launcher.
Option 1
Download - Launcher2.apk
http://www.mediafire.com/?85gd6yew4yrsf0g
Update: Added some screenshots. Sorry if one of them looks like it's an overlay. I was using the screenshot tool from CM7 and it makes the black wallpaper look a bit transparent.
Option 2 (Full ROM)
Here's a working CWM ROM package. This is a full wipe as it's the entire pre-beta4 release with ADWLauncher removed and Launcher2 installed.
Instructions:
- Create a backup of current ROM or APPS
- Reboot into recovery and select "wipe data/factory reset"
- Then go to Advanced and "Wipe Dalvik Cache"
- Now you can install the ROM, "install zip from sdcard"
Download - pre-beta4 w/Launcher2
http://www.mediafire.com/?6z4b6c864k66nm2
Option 3 - Install via CWM
Download - AOSP Launcher CWM package
http://www.mediafire.com/?v1t2ci1062qkm3b
Note: Can be installed right after initial install of pre-beta4. (worked for me anyway)
Instructions:
- Create a backup of current ROM or APPS
- Reboot into recovery and select "wipe cache"
- Then go to Advanced and "Wipe Dalvik Cache"
- Now install the zip using the "install zip from sdcard"
I'd like to note that I am not part of the Atrix-dev-team and all thanks should go to them. They created the ROM and have worked hard to get it to this point. I only replaced the launcher.

If anyone is interested in running the standard Gingerbread launcher just download the below file. I don't have a CWM zip for it yet so you'll have to install it using the many other methods that are out there.

I installed it pushing it with adb. I'll put together some instructions and create a CWM package. I posted this kind of late for me last night so I didn't get a chance to finish that.

I hope you do soon, I really want to get the stock launcher on here!

You need to use root explore and put it in /system/app set permissions to rw-r--r-- and reboot. You may also need to delete ADW boot into recovery clear cache and dalvik cache.

Why would I use that one when I already have my own?

Do we really need to wipe data and cache for it to work? Has anyone tested it without the wiping thing?

Only if you use the full CWM package. If you use adb to push the apk over you only need to clear your cache.

Doesn't have the 3D effect.

I just pulled a stupid, i installed the launcher after downloading through standard install. But home was still adwlauncher, so I decided to freeze adw. However then no launcher worked, so I figured I would restart. Now cm7 wont boot fully because I must have messed up and its not finding a launcher.
Is there a simple way to unfreeze launcher through console commands?
OR
Is there a way to simply re-install adwlauncher?
OR
Anything else you can think that could easily fix this?

Wipe URUK Droid

I have UD 1.5 installed with the 1.2 o/c kernel and I am very pleased. So pleased in fact that I went app download crazy and installed far too much stuff. Is there an easy way other than a re-install to wipe down? The options in the settings menu for this just don't seem to do anything. All I'd like is to clear installed apps and assosciated data.
Any suggestions?
If i remember well (don't have my tab with me) in the options menu you have something like "reset android", try this ^^

ROM tool box better than ROM manager?

So i was browsing market apps yesterday and ran across ROM toolbox (formerly Liberty toolbox).
After downloading it I was amazed at how much more functionality and options it brings to the table when compared to ROM manager.
Basic Comparison:
ROM MANAGER
Flash CWM
Reboot into Recovery
Install Rom from SD Card
Download Roms and Check for Updates
Install from QR Code
Manage and Restore backups
Nandroid backup
Fix permissions
Partition Sd Card
Pro Price: $5.99
ROM TOOLBOX
Download Roms and Check for Update
Install Rom from SD Card
Manage and Create Nandroid backups
Wipe Cache Data Dalvik and battery stats
Change battery Icon and System Fonts
data and system app manager (unisntall , freeze, clear cache etc
app backup and restore
Batch apk install
Set min/ max CPU frequency
Scaling governor ( performance/powersave)
Sysctl config
Minimum free memory taskiller will keep
Zip align system and data apps
Fix permissions
Run custom scripts
Mount /system as writable
Block ads via hosts file (who doesn't like this)!
Enable disable boot animation
File manager, Change LCD density, Change VM heap size
Change wifi scan interval
More stuff that I skipped
Pro Price: $5.00
In a nut shell, its like ROM manager combined with ad free, titanium backup, set CPU, and root explorer for only $5.00
I know people around here think that ROM manager is the best thing since sliced bread but was curious to see you guys opinions on ROM toolbox.
Anyone have the pro version??
Your right...it rocks!!! It can even enable powersave on setcpu!!!
Agreed, will definitely purchase the pro version.

So you're comparing apples to oranges, I don't see the point.
ROM Manager is an application designed to flash zips, install ROMs and make full nandroid backups from inside Android using CWM recovery.
ROM Toolbox looks like a set of tools that might be useful if you're rooted or using a custom ROM.

Actually no, ROM toolbox makes nandroid backups and flashes ROMs too, only with a lot more options and functionality. So its apples to apples my friend.. Or oranges to oranges
Looking in https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox it's supposed to be able to flash ROMs too hmm
Just downloaded it, nice...
Has anyone tried Root Toolbox. There is a free and a pro version.

I am glad you guys have found this useful. I will update the OP later with a side by side comparison for the non-believers..
If anyone bought the pro version I would like to know the differences between it and the the free because I am certainly contemplating buying it myself.
I downloaded it to try it out, but it turns out I'm missing busybox.
I'm rooted on stock 2.3.4, unlocked bl.
I thought the Atrix came with its own busybox installation, or am I wrong? I seem to recall something posted by designgears that it had it in its stock rom.
If not, would installing busybox from the market be safe?

I dont think stock ROM comes with busybox.
But you should be fine downloading "busybox installer" from the market. Mine is installed to /system/bin and everything works great.
The creator of ROM toolbox also has a busybox installer app. Get the one by jrummy
Either or:

Both Busybox are alright to use.

Rom toolbox is great but what is the one thing you need for flashing roms... Let's see uh RECOVERY, which rom toolbox doesn't give you so it really is comparing apples to oranges
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
It's more like comparing the features that utilizes "Recovery" because you don't need Rom Manager to get recovery either. Actually, the fine people here at XDA had a working recovery before Rom Manager's CWM was working on the Atrix.
The beautiful part about this is we all can make our own choices.

UPDATE: Latest "Market" Now 3.3.12

Update: 11/20/11 Unofficial Market update which brings it to Version 3.3.12. Better integration with the Music market. You can now download free music and purchase music as well. Sorry U.S.A. only for free music (?)
How to install: download apk and install like any other apks.
http://db.tt/0j3ii5Oq
Here is the latest (leaked?) update of the Market which brings it to version 3.3.11.
And here's how I installed it: I am currently on CM7 nightlies
Download .apk (Market-3.3.11.apk)
Open Root explorer (or any file manager w/ root access)
Move New Market .apk (Market-3.3.11.apk) to system/apps (make sure to mount R/W first)
Move (or delete, but I suggest to move .apk just in case) older market .apk (Vending.apk) to your sdcard
Rename new market as Vending.apk
Fix Permissions (rw--r--r)
Exit Root Explorer (or any file manager)
Reboot
Done! Whew...
OR...
Download .apk
Rename New Market .apk to "Vending.apk" (w/o the quotes)
Install just like any other apllication
Reboot (if necessary)
*I didn't get the chance to try the second option so it may or may not work, but it kinda made sense...
**not sure if (Vending.apk) is the same name for SENSE ROMS (I don't remember) but just make sure to rename it the same way...

from the "CRACKED" speedy EVO engine... Via Tapatalk.
It won't install for me. It keeps saying application not installed. If I use root explorer to place the .apk in the /systems/app folder I just get force closes. Clearing data doesn't help either. I have downloaded it several times thinking it was a corrupted download. I'm at wits end here. I have done everything in this post even before I read it as I have updated to all the other previous market releases without issue.
But for some reason this one just doesn't work. I thought maybe it wasn't working on cm7.1 nightli or or the evo shift but some of you have it working so that isn't it. Let me redo this and maybe format cache and dalvik see if that helps.

did you rename the .apk of the new update?
I had zero issues with the new Market. I just installed it like any other .apk. The new Market is very nice. Many small noticable differences. Like when on the My Apps page and you switch accounts it leaves you on the My Apps page instead of reloading the whole damn Market. Overall new Market is definitly an improvement and Vicodan should stop being such a hater

Titanium Backup can restore all your Market links. I believe there's also other apps designed just to do that too. Use TB or search for an app that restores Market links.

Please let us know what versions of each you installed. It is important to figure out what might be causing the issue. Also, if it is the first time you have done this, and you haven't spent much time personalizing, I would just flash again to see if it resolves the issue.

I would do what Hal suggested "Go in to recovery wipe all but EMMC. Dont touch it. After a full proper wipe reflash. If you dont proper wipe you get klingons some times."
Then flash the gapps version recommended in above post. If you are still experiencing issues, then start from scratch, make sure to wipe all caches (don't touch EMMC) and use only the gapps mentioned here.
So what is EMMC? Is that the primary operating system?

I wipe /system, /data, /cache, and dalvik-cache. Then flash the new ROM. I would also suggest giving CM7.2 a try instead of 7.1 along with the gapps mentioned previously. Wiping /system is actually an important step for getting everything settled correctly,
I completed the steps that you recommended and install the gapps that you suggested and did all the wipes. As soon as I restarted the nook this is what I got "Sorry! The process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force close"

OP of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1344873
Scroll down to downloads. This is a very stable and usable ROM. Hope this helps.
Thanks for helping me out everyone with this I greatly appreciate it. Something else I am looking at now, is there a way to convert a java file (jar) into an android file (apk)? I ask this because I have found an app call andro lite what it does is it allows you to use your android as a keyboard, mouse, and others input devices with your computer but you have to download the server file which is a jar file. I'm think if it is possible to do this then I can have the jar file on my nook and use my droid phone as the input device.
Thanks in advance for the help and advice.
I use a VNC client app for that sort of thing. Valence acts as keyboard and mouse via VNC and lets me run demos while walking around the room.
VNC servers are available or even supplied for most OS's.

For Ice Cream Sandwich:
There are two files here too:the one that is in the attachment is flashable with CWM recovery but doesn't have the APP's data, the data must be downloaded through WiFi.

This Book reader also seems to satisfy some users,I've not tested it on ICS though:

All is fine, try again...otherwise it is your problem only...if so,pm me
I downloaded it from the Samsung appstore before I disabled the Samsung appstore on my tab. It is in there too for those running stock.
Yes,maybe,if you have stock HC or ICS installed on HC...but most users have experienced issues with non-stock ROMs,this is for them
I really want to try the Samsung ebook reader but having trouble installing. My tablet is stock hc3.2 and non-rooted and have the Samsung appstore loaded on the Tab. When I try to install, the Samsung App jumps to Google Play and says not compatible with any of my devices (HTC Incredible 2, Nook Color (rooted) and Tab).
Anybody have any ideas how to install with out being rooted.
Thanks in advance
Yes,that's easy if you're familiar with Odin...do the following(voids warranty,no root):
Go to: https://sites.google.com/site/arashtarafar/
Download "recovery.tar.md5","bootloader.tar.md5","boot-cm...hc32..."
Flash the first two files with Odin,go into CWM and flash the third file...
Grab the "Ebook.zip" from the Honeycomb post in this thread(attachment),transfer the zip to your device and flash it with CWM...
Now you have stock 3.2 Ebook APP without root...launch it and in Samsung APPs press "Get",after completion press "Launch",the APP is in your device
Edit:for your Google play issue,I must say that if you log in with a banned/embargoed google account it shows "You do not have any devices",I have the same problem...hate and love Google play at the same time...
Thanks for the reply. But I don't want to load CWM. I'm waiting for ICS to come out for my SCH-i905 before I do any rooting / alternate recovery application. My account isn't banned or embagoed(?) cause I can load any other application from the play store to my Tab.
Download the zip from Honeycomb section, extract it,in the extracted folder go to "\system\app\"" and install "Ebook.apk",launch it,download it's data,done...
Information:the only benefit of flashing the zip package was to have Ebook installed as one of the system APPs that can't be uninstalled, there's no need to flash it otherwise...I should have said this,sorry...
Ebook
Do you know if it works in CM9 ?
(Flashing Ebook.zip via CWM)
I think it works but have not tested.I'll test it as soon as I get rid of the official ICS,you can test it yourself without harm if you don't like waiting.just follow the above post(first of page 2)

Arashtarafar, Thanks for the suggestion. I installed the APK but when I try to run the app, I get a message that "Service will be available soon" and nothing happens.
When I go into the Samsung App Center, it must recognize that it is installed cause I can "Delete" the application.
Does this s work for cm10

Thank you for finally getting me this working copy. I looks very similar to Aldiko but with a few extra features. Everyone keeps raving about this reader so I'm giving it a shot. thanks again.
I already notice a couple of differences
No cover images when importing
Can't add my Calibre library as a store
