Do you need to Wipe Data/Factory reset from CWM when flashing from a custom rom to another?
or can I just wipe cache partition, Dalvik cache & battery stats.
If I do Wipe Data/Factory reset from CWM, does it erase your internal SD card?
that's just the same question i want to ask!

Hello,
I just want to ask whether I am wiping my phone correctly.
I'm using Amon Recovery image and then to Wipe and press option 1, 2, 3 which is Wipe data/factory reste, Wipe cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache ...
Is that enough to wipe or should I do something else before flashing?
I ask because on my 2.1 32b magic I have happened to have applications from previous flash and i did wipe correctly at least I think.
Thanks
Was just wanting to know that waht are the steps to be taken when changing a rom,
1. Wipe data/factory reset
2. Wipe cache
and do we even have to wipe DALVIKI cache???
do we have to do all the above three processes???
please help...
It's better to wipe the dalvik cache too.
Yes, and as a Precaution, I wipe /system too under "Advanced". BTW, if you are using a new version of Clockworkmod (3.0.2.4 or newer), it includes a "Wipe All (Dangerous)", which does all required for a fresh install, with just one click.
hi im trying to upgrade my rom from NDT GINGER V10 to version 10.1 how can i do this without loosing all my data and apps...thanks in advanced

Hi,
Go to 8. ad recovery>backup and restore.
Make a NANDROID backup.
Install the new ROM.
Go back to 8. ad recovery>backup and restore.
Do an advanced restore of your data.
Reboot
make a nandroid backup, wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, flash the new rom, in mgldr select advanced restore, restore data, restore sd-ext then reboot.
another way (but not safe always, after you make a nand backup you can try)
just wipe dalvik cache then in mgldr go to mounts and storage and wipe cache, then flash the new rom and reboot.
Nandroid backup is safer. you can also use Titanium Backup... It's free on Market.
I upgrade my ROM by wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache (NOT wipe data/factory reset) and flash upgraded version and I haven't any problems with upgrading
Or .. Read NDT's own thread, I have used his ROM before. He says exactly how to upgrade, I think in the 2nd or the 3rd post.
Alright guys I feel very nooby asking this but this is my first device that doesn't have a sd slot. Is there a way to flash a Rom without deleting the download and titanium folders?
My steps prior to flashing are
Wipe data, cache, n dalvik
Flash Rom
Then wipe cache n dalvik again
But if I wipe data then the Rom zip would be deleted before I can flash it?
Please help me on this thanks!

Hi,
Make only wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache, tat's all then flash your rom and reboot.
Don't wipe anything related to sd card/ext sd card or internal storage so you keep all your files in your "sd card" intact.

This won't happen on your LG G2. Even when using CWM you can see it is looking for an external SD card in the command line when doing a Factory Reset. You're internal SD card is never touched.
When you flash a ROM just:
Factory Reset
Flash Rom
Obviously make a backup first if you're worried, and you may need to flash Gapps depending on the ROM you flash.
understood, thanks guys
Hi
I'm currently on 4.2.2 and decided to upgrade to a 4.4 rom namely SlimKat.
Just wondering whether I need to flash new version of radio and bootloader before the ROM?
I believe that I need to do a full wipe of my phone.
Does full wipe means the following?
Wipe Data/factory reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik-Cache
Wipe Battery Stats
Do i need to format system and boot?
Thanks in advance
Yes, do a Data + System + Dalvik + Cache wipe and then flash the Slimkat.
No need to wipe anything else or flash new version of radio and bootloader.
