*Update*
I have found a true,stock,wifi only streak7 rom.

First this is the streak 5 forum, you should be in the streak 7 forum.
Secondly as HC modifies the partitions you have to use NV flash to return to 2.2.x

Is it necessary to upgrade to official 2.2 if already on non official 2.2 firmware ?

Hey Guys and Gals,
I currently have 2.2 Froyo 1.2 Running on my Dell Streak Unlocked, Seeing how the official 2.2 update will be out soon, I'm wondering if I should update when it comes out, I have only been in the scene for 2 weeks, So i don't know whether he 2.2 update will block the ability to root, or install unofficial apk's...
Any suggestions and and info is much appreciated.
Great question. Guidance on how to handle greatly appreciated. If OTA of 2.2 from Dell is downloaded, can we immediately root on Streak?
From what i've read, the method will be different but you should be able to (of course, that may change if certain things have changed since the leaked beta was seen in the wild)
I know I won't be. Stephen's FroYo builds are currently better and will stay better than anything Dell will ever put out.
Besides that I've heard that the leaked Dell build is only getting ~850-950 scores on Quadrant, while mine runnning Stephen's 1.2 gets ~1100-1200.

Thanks for the input Mr. Kyle, Looks like i will be staying on Stephen's Build, I don't see any reasons why I should upgrade to the official one, and I don't want to risk the root method, I'll wait and see what other members who will upgrade will say about it later on ...

question about my phone, Thanks for answering.

Hi everyone,. I have sony ericsson xperia x10 and has the following information:
baseband: 2.1.71.
kernel version: 2.6.29.00054-g5f01537 [email protected] #1.
Build # 1.9.16 (MIUI).
Do you think there's some upgrade I can do to the phone from the point of the information above? Thanks. (please provide me with information not with links only)
If you have OS version 2.3.3 ; which I guess, than no.
You could use kany from loads from custom ROMs instead
Your MiUI version is old, you should flash one of the new roms.
Oh, sorry overlooked that it is MIUI...

i bought a moto defy with red lens (brayer) since January and when i got home
was very xcited to customize it so came to xda developers and got started (on the day of purchase) ...
downloaded superoneclick and some bits and pieces and flashed my phone...
well at first flash it stoped working
this is what happen when i don't read... stupid me
eventually i got it working back after 2 long struggling days ...
i flashed it with shadow 134 i think .. and after i got it working, i never tried anything else i was fed up...

On top of that i have: (SUPERUSER, DEFY 2NDINIT 2.0, SYSTEM RECOVERY) installed on my defy
its a bit scary for me to go and flash it without any advice like before and get stuck again

Any Defy Xpert arround who may help
Thanks for Reading my lengthy post

[Q] Build and Image version for ICS Stock [RESOLVED]

I was having some issues with my browser and email client and suspected it was due to not running a stock rom. Initially when ICS came out I was a little impatient, didn't wait for the OTA update and installed one of the "released" images.
Yesterday i spent most of the day trying different image. Initially I hoped to install an older version, like honey comb and the to OTA back to a stock ICS rom.
It seems that once your bootloader has been converted to ICS there is now way of going back to Honeycomb. I tried some things suggested on xda developer forum, but none produced the results.
I then installed what I believe is the current stock rom for an A500 giving me the following:
Android version: 4.0.3
Kernel version: 2.6.39.4+
Image version: Acer_AV041_A500_RV03RC01_WW_GEN1
Build number: Acer_AV041_A500_1.0.31.00_WW_GEN1
What I would like to confirm is that this is correct and that this version is the latest available from Acer.
I am not really interested in any of the custom images and don't need it rooted. So a stock standard Acer ROM should do me just fine.

Look in the dev section , the latest is 1.054.00_ww_gen1. It is in the sticky thread.
This thread describes in detail what I did http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961301 but now my tablet is bricked. I am still hoping for some way of recovering it though.

This is what happens when you have multiple threads going. Nobody knows what the heck is going on.
Perhaps you think it increases your odds of getting your issue fixed, but now, it only compounds things.
If one of the issues is solved, then you need to edit your title thread to state so. This can be done by selecting Edit, Go Advanced.
MD
The reason I started two threads was to answer different question. In this thread I was looking for the latest official released version of ICS available. The other thread describes my journey of trying different ROMs. I was hoping to downgrade to 3.1/3.2 and then to OTA to ICS. Well that is covered in the other thread.
Thanks for all your help. I got my answer on the latest version.

the Custom roms CM9(ics), CM10(jb, 4.1.2) and CM10.1 (jb, 4.2.2) are considered the best. You should download the latest Build.

Hi,
you may also want to have a look at this post:

The installation is from point 1 to 10.
Please be aware that it's a few months old (there are newer builds) and it also covers some performance hints (that may not be necessary with a newer build).
Have fun
