I'm running an old version of GummyJAR and am trying to switch over to CM7 official nightlies. My phone is already rooted and I installed Clockwork Recovery from ROM Manager. However, when I boot into bootstrap from poweroff it just says:
Bootloader
30.04
Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
There's no options to select from or anything. When I boot into Clockwork with ROM Manager, my phone just reboots and starts up normally again. Am I missing something here?
When you say you are booting into bootstrap (the screen that says 30.04) you are actually booting into the bootloader that we use to sbf the phone, not recovery.
Now as for not getting into recovery from bootstrap on the phone, you may want to go into rom manager and reflash the latest recovery, and then boot into recovery from rom manager. That may solve the problem.
I hope this helps!

Basically i desided i would give the Rom manger and Clock Work Recovery a try, So i downloaded the App from the market and installed it then used it to flash the recovery. However now when i try to boot into recovery it just hangs at the Vodafone Screen at boot up.
I tried to reflash RA Recovery however if i do it within the Rom Manager it does the same and hangs when trying to boot to recovery mode. I tried flashing it by the terminal but that did work either.
So does anyone know what i should do!
try flashing via fastboot
how do i use fastboot? when i boot to fast boot the only options i have are
HBoot Mode
Reset device
Restart to HBoot
Power down
OK i tried flashing using fastboot but i got an error 'FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)'
same problem
i got the saame problem as youu!
Damn rom manager killd my recovery , not even the clockwork recovery will boot up! which sucks because now im stuck on superbad 1.3, i want to go back to cynagoen !!!

i downloaded Amon_RA's recovery and trying installing using the terminal method. I got memory errors saying i was out of memory etc. so i turned SWAP on with 128mb and then swappyness to 60 an tried again, and this time it worked!
Couldnt be complete luck but i would give it a try if i was you
What worked for me.
I had this same problem. I spent hours and hours trying everything under the sun. This happened to me on Cyanogen 5.0.7 DStest7. I notice a lot of people on the cyanogen forum claiming that's what they use. I purchased the pro version and installed clockwork recovery through the app. I tried a lot of things and they all failed. I tried droid explorer exe to flash the recovery, fastboot method, I tried reflashing clockwork, terminal with and with out memory managers running. Finally, I tried flashing the Amon 1.6.2 recovery 3 times in a row with the clockwork app. I did a reboot every time. The last one took and I uninstalled clockwork. I'll probably never change it.
it has only killed your recovery because you selected the wrong option, you must flash the first option (Ion/MyTouch 3G) this is the version for the vodafone 32B handset
I was also frustrated when i chose the HTC Magic option and it hanging on the red voda splash screen
Hope i helped
please somebody helps me with the recovery as well..
im using motorola milestone..
i rooted my phone using UNIVERSAL ANDROOT.. the rooting went fine... plus flashing the clockwork recovery via rom manager went fine.. but everytime i reboot into recovery the recovery triangle logo just blinks for a second and my phone reboots and comes back normally to the homescreen.. how to ablolish this problem?
Best Regards.
I too am experiencing this problem. Flashed CWM Recovery today, then later flashed amon ra. Got into amon ra and successfully did a nand backup, then left it for a few hours. Just now tried to boot into recovery and got the oem android recovery 2e. Wtf is that about??
Ok so I flashed the root clockwork file with Odin, then superoneclick.
I wanted to test the recovery going into download mode but still no recovery (had to reflash the clockwork file with Odin again to get out from download mode).
So I downloaded from the market Rom Manager and installed it, then I downloaded and installed clockwork recovery from Rom manager choosing ''galaxy S2''
Then I choosed ''reboot into recovery'' as I always did with previous phones to go directly into recovery.
The phone shuted down quicker than usual, then rebooted with a yellow triangle AND a green Droid!
I had to pull the battery then put it back...then I was into clockwork recovery menu
What happened?
It will occur everytime or only first time? It's really a big operation to open the battery cover
Following instructions on this forum I installed droid 2 bootstrap in order to have clockworkmod recovery.
Then I installed rom manager and installed the latest clockworkmod recovery from it.
Now everytime I reboot or powerup after a shutdown, the phone always launches
clockworkmod recovery first
I have to give a couple of times the reboot system in cwm recovery and go through a few reboots before the system normally boots up.
Has anyone had this type of problem and maybe solved it?
Thanks a lot
earlier today, i was trying to make a backup, but i had the red exclamation logo when i went into clockwork mod recovery mod, so i flashed a newer version of clockwork mod using flashboot fast boot. After that, clockwork mod worked, and i made my ndroid back up. now, i cant leave clockwork mod. if i select "reboot system now", clockwork mod would open again. i am able to get into bootloader mode by holding onto volume up and power, but if i press "start", it would go back into clockwork mod.i also tried to restore the phone using the backup, but that didnt help..is there anyway i can get out of clockwork mod?
Do you have a ROM installed?
no, it's only rooted
maybe u can try flash TWRP. to check maybe it can boot up your rom.
Hi there,
I wanted to install latest CM10.1 coming from 0526 yesterday on my Defy+.
Did a backup with TWRP first.
Then the flashing failed, so I wanted to recover from backup.
Phone now is stuck at Motorola M not booting anymore.
When I enter bootloader (vol down) and want to enter "custom recover" he just jumps back to the same menu. TWRP is not starting.
Choosing "stock recovery" is possible, but if I choose a CM10.1 zip file it's not accepted.
RSD Lite does not recognize the phone when it's in the bootloader menu or in the stock recover menu.
Help is very much appreciated, what can I do?
Thanks and best regards.

Okay, I found out why I couldn't enter flash mode by using Vol+ when starting.
The phone powered already up when I put in the battery, so I always pushed Vol+ too late.
Pressing Vol+ WHILE inserting the battery did the trick, phone went into flash mode and I could re-flash 2.3.6 sbf using RSD lite.

Still not sure why TWRP was messed up just by recovering from a TWRP-made backup...
Best regards
Same situation to me.
I opened Terminal Emulator, gained root access
then type below command to get recovery mode
# reboot recovery
Custom recovery not running
I have a similar issue.
I rooted my stock S4 and installed the proper TWRP.
Heres where my situation is a bit different from anything I have seen on the forum threads. All attempts—both hard and soft—to reboot into recovery, all direct the reboot to Odin Mode. Just to clarify I have not flashed any rom custom or stock, the only thing I have flashed has been TWRP and CWM recovery. And I only flashed CWM AFTER the Failings of TWRP.
When I attempt to boot into recovery, it flashes the blue characters then sends me into a Odin Mode loop until I hard-key the "download mode" and select restart to boot the os normally.
my phone works fine other than not being able to flash custom roms, which is a pain in the arse especially with all the s4 Bloatware.
Here's what I have done so far to help myself:
• install CWM recovery
• tried hard-key reboot recovery (power off/ press home/volume up/power)
• soft reboot recovery through both Goo, CWM and ROM Toolbox pro
• removed my sd card and tried reboot recovery
• removed battery and reboot recovery
• emulator reboot recovery
• reboot recovery both with and without usb cable
I looked into flashing stock with Odin but all tutorials i could find were of an older version and I didnt want to guess what I needed to get that to work,
Please let me know if theres anything I can do.
