[Q] My Trophy has a HUGE Problem - Trophy General

I updated my phone to the Mango Beta, which was all fine and dandy until I changed my Live ID login. That's fine, except my phone got out of Live sync. I want to reset to factory settings, but I'll lose my game data. So, maybe I'll back it up? No, you have to be jailbroken. Ok, I'll jailbreak. No, you have to be on an earlier firmware and THEN update to Mango with the jailbreak installed. Ok, I'll restore back to my previous firmware. Nope, Zune and Windows Phone Support Tools don't support restoration of Mango builds. I need help. Bad.

What exactly do you want here?
If you are trying to restore settings, it sounds like you're out of luck.
If you're trying to restore your firmware, find a RUU file (the user ansar has posted several in this forum) for your network operator, and run it from recovery mode.

Hey I know what you mean with restoring back your games etc..
Firstly you got the correct advice, but you just need a bit of guidance.
Back up your game settings by using WPV App Data Backup - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223619
Now you may either reset your phone back to factory default (Firmware will stay as Mango) or downgrade the firmware using ansars or install HSPL/RSPL then install ansars europe rom (check out my guide posted by wicked penguin on my behalf - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207721 )
Once you have unlocked your phone you can use itje guide to upgrade to mango and keeping your phone unlocked - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1215501
Now install all your games and apps then use WPV App Data Backup to restore all your game settings etc...
Note: Step 2 - You don't have to downgrade your firmware etc... you can just use a factory reset. I've included the rest of the instructions incase you or anyone else reading is interested in doing a full reinstall.

Well, I just did a factory reset. I couldn't back up my data because I'm not jailbroken. I guess I'm okay now, but why would I have installed a European rom? I'm US.

Sorry wasn't sure if you were jailbroken or not you won't be able to use the WPV App data without it, I prefer the European rom version as it has an updated radio version and support for additional languages.

Dude, i made a thread about it and it's right below yours.......
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=477684
oh.. mine is more of upgrade firmware... i am also asking.. if i decide to push ahead with upgrade , will stuff get loss.. presuming no errorss
I see . Well i have tried it today with hard reseting the phone and spb works perfect ! I don't know about backup after firmware upgrade....
My level 1 upgrade restore from Sprite Backup didn't work - the phone wouldn't complete its startup sequence.
A level 2 upgrade restore succeeded in bringing the phone to life, but some of the apps didn't restore, and some others didn't work.
I'm therefore doing a full manual rebuild from scratch.
Still, early impressions of R2A ROM are good. It feels crisper and snappier, but that's purely subjective (and on an 'empty' phone).

Completely baffled

Hi,
I've just got this phone today, and have been reading through some posts gathering the mods I wanted for the phone (Xperia tweak, vista battery guage etc.).
Having realised that I needed to update my phone I tried using Sony's updater, which seems to be failing! So went on to investigate about downloading the rom and firmware update.
However, I am completely confused on A) how to install all of these mods I have downloaded
B) How to JUST update the firmware. I am worried if I update the ROM all my vodafone settings will dissappear, which means no internet etc. Is there anyway to just update the firmware without using sony's software?
Again, I am completely confused after reading countless threads in here. Just looking to be pointed in the right direction
many thanks,

When trying to update with SEUS it takes me about 2 or 3 tries to get it to run correctly and find the correct update.

Just connect your phone with your pc and copy cabs to your phone. Go with File Explorer or Total Commander to cabs and click, easy as cake..

Your vodafone settings will be installed through connection setup after updating/installing new ROM automatically (most of the time). So no need to worry about that.
You will loose contacts, sms, e-mail, etc, etc when flashing to a new ROM and there is nothing you can do. Except not to flash a new ROM at all. Only the stuff on your SD card will remain, phone memory is completely whiped when updated.
Just find a nice back-up program suiting your needs...
Thanks very much . Applications are installing nicely!
The update is still getting stuck in the identification bit, sometimes it doesn't even come up! Is it worthit to just update the phone manually? If so, do you just put the img on the phone, or sync it to the phone?
yeah you should think about using an custom rom...
they are faster, more beautiful and the whole X1 Xperience is better
but if u want to have warranty u have to flash back ur device to a stock rom
there are good tutorials about flashing an rom...
look at the stickys
Weird
Strangely I just connected my xperia to my Vista x64 Ultimate desktop without thinking and it updated perfect first time. I didn't do anything extra.

Before trying to update without using SEUS please read the sticky's in the Xperia ROM section of this forum, it is most definitely going to save you (and probably us here at the forum) a lot of frustration.
I got a few links which you can read in given order:

If your ever gonna think about flashing a cooked ROM:

Enjoy your X1...
Thanks very much for the replies guys. Looking forward to it all !

[Q] Updated to Mango but... please advise

Long story short, I was able to update to Mango but lost the backup for my Focus which I need to roll back to in order to get the retail version of Mango. Should I be worried? Are there any resources which will allow me to roll back my phone's software version? Should I be worried or just wait it out and hope for the best? Please advise, thanks.
Long version, if anyone is interested. As I was updating to Mango, something went wrong. My phone already had Mango, but wasn't functioning, so I had to restart the whole update process. So Zune re-backed up my phone, so now, my backup is OF mango! So, my phone is functioning with Mango but I cannot go back to NoDo.
Shouldn't you be able to restore back to one of those official roms that are out there now. They are preNodo
The lesson here is keep backups (read copy somewhere else the restore Zune creates).
As said above, you can restart back to 7004 by flashing one of the first 2 roms in this post.
You won't be keeping anything this way and you would start from scratch.
Another thought is that your backup should still be here, with the OS state before Mango beta (I assume NoDo).
Drive:\PreMangoState
(Drive is the drive where you performed the Mango Update).
If you deleted it... you did it to yourself

Oh wow. Thank you. I was getting worried. I am going to look in that folder, should be there, as I didn't delete anything. Worse come worse, I can use the link you provided. Thanks again. Will be more careful in the future :|

You're welcome and I sure hope you do have the backup in the folder I mentioned. There should also be a restore.bat (just read the notes of the tool).
Keep in mind that you will have to get back to NoDo somehow, later, when the real Mango (this is the beta for devs) is publicly released (rumors say September or autumn, but there isn't a release date yet).
Lost my backup when i reinstalled zune
So, zune stopped working and I uninstalled and reinstalled it. By doing this I lost my backup and forgot to copy it to another place on my computer. I am wondering any options I can do. I am running mango 7712 beta 2 build and I want to run 7720 mango. Is there any way to create a current backup and use that to update to 7720 mango?
My phone is not unlocked in any way.

you can update to the 7720 build that was leaked on xda, you don't need to downgrade for that.
if you want to go the official route once it's released from att, you can downgrade to a prenodo rom that's in the focus dev forum here and then let zune take you to mango, but you will lose all your apps and data.

[Q] Tried to restore and failed. Now phone isnt booting anymore. Help please!

Hi,
I was running 7712 and tried to restore a NoDo Restore Point I had. It failed. Now, it shows the samsung screen and eventually gets to the connect to PC screen but it doesnt fully bootup anymore. It can still connect to my PC and retries using the restore point but never works. Help is MUCH appreciated. Thanks

Had this problem too, and didn't manage to restore.
I suppose it happened because I filled more than half of the available capacity (or so I think).
I even tried downgrading to 7004 and retry the backup then, that didn't work either.
You can try that, if that doesn't work... you'd be out of luck, like I was.
Try again and again different scenarios, be imaginative, maybe you can find a solution that works in your case.
I tried flashing 7004 to it with the WP7 USB Image tool and that did not work either. I keep getting an error..something about the phone not matching? The error descriptions cuts off and I cant see all of it..and I did use the correct one for my hardware rev. Help?

Can you detail a bit more about your phone?
Revision (1.3/1.4), card installed (type/size)
When the error started to appear etc. Anything you think might be useful/relevant.
I have hardware rev 1.3. I do not have any SD card in my phone at the moment, nor have I ever. I can get to the download menu and restoration menu in zune, but it all fails. I think what messed things up was I tried to format while on 7712 to try to get back to factory default. This took me to a "new" 7712 with the default settings. I even tried formatting by holding PWR + Vol DWN + camera to no avail. When i was stuck with 7712, I tried to use my restore point to get back to NoDo. Thats when it all came crashing down. I think I need to wait until newer roms become available. Help?

Not being able to hard reset suggests some kind of problem, which either points to the hardware or the flash. Let's leave the hw for now, so you can easily assume it's a flashing problem.
I would go with a 7004 ROM and start from scratch. If everything works well, you might be able to use your restore.
However, if something's really wrong with your phone, flashing might actually do more damage and possibly brick your phone. Not to scare you, but to make you aware of alternatives.
I have already tried flashing with the 7004 rom and it did not work. I kept getting an error about the devices not matching. I am thinking that I need to flash with at least a 7712 rom, since it seems that is now the phones default version. weird.
Bump. I think that if i were to have a restore point that was 7712 or above, I can get the phone back in operating condition. I'd be willing to pay if anyone is interested. However, it has to have no windows live account attached to it. I.E. restore, and skip entering in account info.
samfirmware.com has couple firmware for Focus. If you can get your phone into download mode (connect to PC screen), you can flash the firmware to it. Not sure which tool to use (ODIN or else) for flashing firmware. Check the dev forum for help.
Thanks for the reply. I checked out samfirmware.com and didnt see any specifically for the focus..any chance i can get a link to them?
Edit: Nevermind, I found them. Ill try them out.
I tried flashing with the roms on samfirmware.com, I got the same results with those roms as the ones posted in the forums here. I assume I need at least a 7712 rom to flash to, as my phone has essentially "forgotten" that anything before that exists and doesnt know how to go back to it. I can still use a fresh restore point from 7712 or beyond please. I am stuck using some horrible old phone while i fix this lol.
Edit: Grammar
Happy to report that after various configurations of my process, I finally got it work. I used the roms that are up on these forums. If anyone has the same issue i had here... try different computers. try different cables. try different ports. That's how I got it to work. Thanks to those that gave me suggestions.
I sense that when official Mango finally hits, we will see a lot ppl hitting the same issue as you because you must roll back to NoDo firmware before you can apply official Mango updates if you're on 7712 Mango beta, IIRC.

If I read this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1215501) correctly, you should be able to start with 7712... just jump to step 16 as indicated by step 5a.

I'm not so sure about that. Just ask those who walshed their Focuse try to get to NoDo faster(which is actually also from Microsoft). There are likely firmware updates accompanied by the official release for Focus. Anything that's not running official NoDo updates will probably have a tough time getting that official update, or anything after that.

Has anyone done a stock Vodafone update from android 2.1?

Had to send my phone back to get serviced and am now rocking a k800i!
Grabbed my g/fs phone to surf and watch iplayer.
SHE'S STILL ON 2.1!!!!
Isn't that eclair?
I asked if she wanted the update done and she's worried about losing app data and all that. I can't find out if the standard vodafone update will nuke her phone when it updates.
Does anyone here know? (better answers from here than actual voda forums I'm guessing)
Hi,
In most case, a firmware update make you lose data (App installed, SMS...)
You just keep what's in the SDCARD (Pics, mp3...)
I think there is just the minor upgrade let your data on the phone...
So if you upgrade from 2.1 to 2.3 you gonna loose your data...
- So before updating i suggest you to backup your SMS, CONTACTS with a software (You have Backup&Restore i think). You also can save your app with configuration with an app like titanium backup
- I also suggest you to root your device to make a full backup of your data...
- And if you are courageous (lol) i suggest you to unlock your bootloader, install a new Kernel (Like that your phone will be faster and you will have Recovery). With recovery you can backup all your rom (Like a windows restoration)
- After that you can choose to stay in the stock rom or to install a custom rom (More customizable, faster...)
If you want to unlock, root, flash use Flashtool .. there is a guide in my signature...
If you want to install a new Kernel search one on the site and refer to his thread
If you want to install a custom, do the same...
I hope it helps...
