OK, Intratech will label me right away "moron".
I'm going to say it anyways, hoping you will chime in some info. A PIT file is basically a set of instructions defining the phone partition layout. Technically, you should use a PIT file if you want to re-partition the phone with Odin. Otherwise, don't use any file... it will keep the current partition in place.
Now, my question is: Why SamFirmware provided the PIT file in their XXKG3 package? How do we determine WHEN a PIT file is needed? And if is never needed, why is that?
I really did not wanted to take any chances and end-up with a bricked phone, so I re-partitioned it based on PIT instructions file for the EU model, which is IDENTICAL to Bell Galaxy S2. In theory I could of skipped the PIT process, since the partitioning scheme was the same.
I used the XXKG3 2.3.4 generic ROM to flash my Bell I9100MUGKG2.

I would appreciate if some of the big guns would participate in this discussion and clear once for all the PIT mystery. Thank you for reading this.
No mystery, all the .pit file does is contain the information for the partition layouts for the device... partition information table. You only need this file when repartitioning the device and you don't need to repartition it unless you mess up the partition table to begin with.
Thanks Intratech... so in my case: I could of done the PDA, PHONE and CSC settings while keeping the Re-Partition setting unchecked. All clear and dandy now, much appreciated.

Hi all! Walked into the lake with my phone in the rear pocket - doh! Here is what I did so far ...
1. Turned off
2. Removed battery
3. Disassembled phone
4. Dried it out
5. Cleaned all the components with isopropyl
6. Put in a new battery
Turns on fine
Goes into d/l mode
I can flash firmware to it via Odin
Will NOT boot
Will NOTgo into recovery
I have tried various stock firmwares from Samobile - they all do the same thing - see pictures below.

ANY firmware I try does this after Odin is "Successful" Blue writing says " Recovery Booting ... but it just sits there.
Any ideas? It is a stock Rogers phone but I don't mind using any Firmware ion any network if I can get it up and running - I'll just unlock it later.
Thanks!
Also, can I try to re-partition it using a .pit file? I've only ever used Odin for flashing firmware. Where can I get .pit files, can't seem to find them anywhere.

I work at a repair shop and had the exact same thing happen this past weekend. No luck. same result. freezes when booting into recovery. thats water damage for ya.
Hello there ,
using Odin 3.09, this rom G900FXXU1ANG2_G900FDBT1ANG2_DBT, on a G900F i always get this error at the end:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After that i just flash TWRP and it boots fine, but that cant be right. It was suggested to me to flash stock because my "/dev/block/mmcblk0p25 " partition seems to be broken. That flash should fix some problems that i got with flshing some roms and missing apks.
I hope someone can help me out!

Your Odin write is obstensibly failing due to incorrect partition parameters.
You need to flash a PIT file concurrently with your firmware image to resolve the error.
Locate the correct PIT file for your phone (there is an XDA thread)
Do not close the Odin window after the failed write
Remove your phone battery and USB cable for 10 seconds
Press and hold the home button, volume down and power button until the screen turns on
Confirm that the screen indicates that you are in Odin (download) mode
Connect your USB cable to your phone again
Start with your current settings as in your screen shot
Add the PIT file to the PIT line
Check the Re-partition box
Press Start
Do not interrupt the write until Odin indicates Pass (success)
.

ohhh thank you will try that
Edit:
Just had to reset the whole phone but it seems to be working now

Hi,
I'm new to android and recently rooted my Galaxy S7 Edge AT&T Snapdragon and now I want to unroot and return to stock but I'm having trouble.
To begin, I can't access recovery mode anymore. I get a message in the top left corner of the screen that says something about "custom rom blocked". I tried to follow instructions I found on XDA on how to unroot and return to stock. I downloaded the files and used Odin to flash it, it begins to do something and then gives me an error.
What am I doing wrong or how do I fix it? I apologize if I'm not explaining this the greatest, like I said I'm new to this and don't understand it much. All I want to do is wipe the root and return to stock. All help is greatly appreciated!

If Your phone works then try this ^
If Your phone is dead then post the log from Odin.
Thanks for the help! I tried it multiple times and it says each time "uninstallation failed". Could it be the issue I'm having with the recovery image?

I don't think so, but I guess that the best thing You can do right now is to just reflash the whole phone with Odin, but since You get errors in Odin I need to see the log.
I successfully unrooted last night using these instructions and the files provided. I don't know if it'll work for you though.
Instructions: https://stockromupdate.com/how-to-flash-stock-rom-samsung-smartphone/
Files: https://stockromupdate.com/2016/08/...galaxy-s7-edge-sm-g935fd-6-0-1-g935fxxu1apgf/
Note: Make sure you ignore the Home_CSC file AND the Pit tab in Odin. Never touch "Pit" unless you know what you're doing. And also note that the ROM provided might not be the one developed for your country, but it should work fine.
Good Morning Folks,
i decided to switch back to stock rom...now im facing the Problem that Odin wont recognize the Partition table and fails every time at hidden.img
My biggest problem was if i bypass the flashing with the "hidden.img unname trick" my mobile phone works but there is no way to get a "service/Network" connection.
i googled for it but just found this link which dont has a PIT File for Austria (unbranded)
https://gsmrohim.blogspot.com/2016/11/samsung-a3-2016-galaxy-sm-a310f-pit.html
This is the Rom i want to install: A310FXXU4CRG2_A310FDAX4CRG1_A310FXXU4CRF1_HOME
If someone of you guys have the correct PIT File that would be AWESOME

Would you know what would cause the recovery/boot program to update system - show Erasing after flashing ? Thx in advance!
I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 G930AUCUBCTB1 purchased in Colombia, I need help! I've upgrade it to 8.0 and the phone has signal, detects the sim but Emergency calls only. I want to downgrade to 6.0 but I cannot find the proper firmware that works. Any help?
