[Tweak]U.S.A.Sv6 - Nexus S General

These are some tweaks created by dsexton702 that offer you a generous performance boost in I/O and giving you the newest fugu mod 3.1. This is a fast growing tweak and needs to be shared with everyone who can benefit from it
This has been tested on the nexus s

I have all those tweaks in my MIUI ROM before he even posted that.
And my MIUI ROM contains even more tweaks.
But, those are good tweaks.

could we see a screenshot of your quadrant before and after. at least after, because i dont think this is needed for the nexus s.

@ OP - You should reconsider if those tweaks are really universal. Since you are posting in the Nexus S section, I should inform you that your mount points in your scripts don't apply on Nexus S.
The hex-edited files might be working, but your scripts in init.d or in CWM flash file wont work here.
And as already stated in the quote, allot of those tweaks are giving a little bit more performance at cost of the stability and might cause data corruption.
I advise the Nexus S users - DO NOT FLASH THIS ON YOUR DEVICE!

Can you even read? I said u.s.a.sv6 what you just posted was s.a.sv6
This is universal and will work on the nexus s with no risk of data loss unless you disable journaling please read the whole op before advising people what to do

Do you own Nexus S - have you tested it on Nexus S yourself?
Are you really sure that it works for Nexus S (specially the mount points)?

Friend, can you read what I wrote earlier:
Hex-edited files are O.K., but your scripts are not working because of the false parameters for mount points in init.d scripts and in your journaloff script.
The one that tested it for you should have told you that. I know what I'm telling.
Do you get that?

no your the one not getting something, everything your referring to is the version of the tweak for the SGS4G the universal version for more then 10 phones now has only 1 init.d script and JOURNALING IS ENABLED
instead of hating with false references you should atleast try then report back with hatred

You are right - I apologize myself. I've seen that I referred to the SGS tweaks (that I've tested) not the USGS tweaks.
It has nothing to do with hating.

yup i agree with u simms, i dont think nexus s need this.
We uses trinity kernel if we need the fastest power on nexus s.
It already blazing fast with or without it.
Really sorry, no offense.

this script is useless. I flashed usas v6, but running quadrant before arrive at 3500 and the second time the 3rd time and after the score is around 4400, like without script.

It might be useless for speed but it did increase the frame rate of the videos and in my opinion made it a bit smoother

Damn if we get that to work on the Hero(es) that would be TOO awesome!! Then we can show newer phone you can teach an old dog new tricks.
I agree the benchmark score looks amazing but will this hack actually improve usability or performance? or is it just a hack that boosts the benchmark score?
Interesting... Not entirely sure how it works but and speed increase on the GSM is more than welcome

The speed shown there is around the 700Mhz mark... nice.. but how is this different than flashing a 748Mhz kernel and using SetCPU to overclock your hero? or is it more to do with the internal working of data transfer?

[KERNEL][GINGERBREAD] Javelin #10

BTW guys, I won't be concentrating on development this week, and possibly for a while. My grandfather recently got diagnosed with brain cancer and I haven't had a lot of time on the computer (on the phone, yes. I'm on twitter a lot). Don't worry though, I'll get back on it soon
Here it is guys, the kernel you've never heard about. If you're a battery fanatic, this is the kernel for you. With a max clock of 800 MHz and a HZ of 100, this kernel will give you the best battery life you've ever had. Coupled with the optional Undervolting via Xan's Voltage Control app (download here, you're going to be getting a day or two out of this one. Seriously. Its really battery efficient.
You've also got BLN, Voodoo Sound v7, and xcaliburinhand's car dock fixes.
To those of you worrying about speed sacrifices, let me tell you, the tradeoff is worth it. You're getting several extra hours of battery life for a slightly reduced Linpack score. Trust me. It's worth it.
Disclaimer: This will eat your babies
Actually, I'm not responsible for any damage this kernel might do to the space-time continuum (or your phone)

Quoted from Kevin Burns:
I am too exhaust right now to put the OP up in the forum. SO here is the brief changelog
added TouchWiz4 with working widgets
newly compile fugu binaries
"Stock" as in KA6 GPS configs for everyone who had problems hopefully this will help you out
Changed the Sdcard read hack and bumped it up to 2048
Newly updated Swype
Removed Starwars lockscreen but kept the Clock toggle
"Flying" animations
new hosts file to remove most junk and ads
Went back to Somb's GB look and feel
The wallpaper chooser is slightly off for right now, I have a fix for it, but it will forceclose everytime you reboot, but then work perfect afterwards. I will have a flashable up tommorow sometime for it. Otherwise the Wallpaper chooser that comes with nextgen2 works perfectly.

Yea, the launcher is TW4, animations are kinda cool, but I have them disabled.
The new swype they put in didn't work for me. The gingerbread KB is included, which I do use.
It's not themed, stock 2.2 look with the TW4 launcher.
It's really smooth and responsive ...looks like it's running a stock voodoo kernel.

120% performance increase with Linaro toolchain

I heard the Linaro changes are being pushed, I checked and it looks like it may take a little more time.
basically the Linaro builds use a toolchain that give android builds up to a 30%* performance increase
If any devs want to take a look at it, It's in gerrit (I think this is it)

If this is real, I have a feeling it doesn't respond to benchmarks. As most know, benchmarks are not real world tests.

You have to compare it to a GNEX, not using Nexus S. GNEX has to push more pixels and so on to the 4.65" 720p screen comparing to Nexus S with 4.0" display. I believe that would put a strain on the CPU?
I have question. In which part of an android will this be implemented? The rom or the kernel?

Good question. We've already seen that there's no significant benefit from linaro 'optimized' kernel builds. Should be interesting.
....memoirs of a flash addict.
CM9 nightly implemented some Linaro code in the build you can see in change log I did 2 quadrant scores at 1.4ghz & got total score of 1800 I then flashed the Anidroid hardened kernel b.13 which was build using linaro tool chain & got a score of 2500 phone did seem a little quicker but nothing crazy

suck it
Some of us work on new and exciting things and others just sit around and whine about what they want - this is useful. Throughout the process of doing this I've learned a lot about what I will need to do to make it work from source when it drops. So go lurk somewhere else if it doesn't interest you.

Are you serious, have you not heard of an SDK port?
Lol I know why wifi and audio and storage don't work haha correcting it now.
The kernel is unmodified? You didnt have to modify init.rc etc?

kernel is unmodified init.rc needed modifications init.traces needed to be placed in the ramdisk as well and toolbox seems to be broken and needed to be replaced with the ics version.

Tomorrow I'll try and get wifi working I have made a dozen builds since last posted firmware audio is just missing libs storage needs a few fixes but I know where
Pretty sure I know what's causing my wifi issue should be a simple hex edit to lib hardware legacy
