Hey there everybody!
I'm sorry if this could have fit in another thread, but I'm just curious about one thing; if this phone is worth buying just now.
I have a Wildfire S at the moment, and I'm pretty bored of it, it has ****ty specs, can't run anything worthwhile...
So first, I wanted to buy a PS Vita, but seeing that the games weren't appealing to me, and they all start at $40-50+, I'm more likely to get an Xperia Play.
The only thing stopping me is that I don't know if it's still a good phone, if it still can run the newest games, etc.
So please, help me, will ya?

In my opinion I would just dish out the money for an Xperia s. Just root it and connect it with a dualshock controller.

'Good' Phone
Imo the only good thing about the xperia play is the controls, the fact that is 'old' in specs you could buy something better, further support to the ps suite doesnt look better either (moving to ICS looks good but it will have ups and downs), still is a good phone but consider a second choice.
To be honest, no.
Unless you REALLY dont want to spend the extra cash for a way better phone, get this.
In comparison, its like buying a Nexus One in this day and age.
No. I prefer my old PSP for gaming over my xperia play anyways. The controls feel a lot worse and smaller on the Xperia Play, and the amount of compatibility issues with custom roms and touchpads is annoying too.
About the games, see the list of xperia play optimized games and see if those appeal to you.
Also, I know the wildfire S is an old phone with ****ty specs but just note that the xperia plays processor is clocked only 400 mhz higher , the gpu is worse, and there is nearly 100 mb more usable ram in the wildfire S than the play. This is not a worthy upgrade from your old phone..If you were coming from an old blackberry/nokia or something, then I would tell you to get the play. If upgrading I recommend a dual core phone, you will notice a huge performance difference.

Come on, do you really compare the Wildfire 600mhz to the Play 1000mhz?
it´s a snapdragon, And don´t forget, you can easily clock the Play to a stable 1.8ghz, i have mine at 1.4ghz.
The GPU is worse? the Wildfire S uses adreno 200 the Play is the 205..
He will notice a big improvement from Wildfire to the Play.
To all saying no, the Play it´s still a good phone, there are better ones yes, mas they cost a lot more.

Most of the games you can get on the play you can play on any other android device. If you want the play as a solid gaming device, you're better off with the vita.If you want the play for its physical controls on the move go for it. Specs wise it sucks and is bulky compared to the newer options which as mentioned are more expensive.
I'd have to say yes.
All the analysts that said Xperia PLAY would fail to run future generation software are eating their own statements now as Xperia PLAY continues to beast the newest software there is with consistent 30-60FPS and high detail.
No other phone has as many games compatible with it's physical controller as the Xperia PLAY does, and Xperia PLAY's game software support is just getting better and better every day.
I too thought that the Vita would break me away from the Xperia PLAY. It's a nice handheld, but right now Sony's making a lot of mistakes with the Vita that currently causes Xperia PLAY's options to be far more enticing.
I see dual cores, I see quad cores, beastly screens, 3D screens and all kinds of things on newer phones... but when you see Shadowgun on the Xperia PLAY running just as nicely as it does on the Atrix, Galaxy S2 and GNex, you soon learn that there's currently no reason for all that.

I read Adreno 220 the first time. Sorry. But even then I think a dual core phone with more ram would be better. Dual core just increases performance so much.

Just because one game is optimized to run better on an older phone, that doesn't mean that there's, "No reason for all that". The performance in everything else is a lot better with those phones. The only thing that I will miss about the Xperia play when I get my next phone is the gamepad.
If you enjoy casual gaming in any way, as well as emulating the old classics, this is the phone for you. If just you like having a phone that works really well, this is still the phone to get. It runs great as a phone and you have the option to use the physical buttons to play games on it. I don't understand how anyone wouldn't want that. Then again, I'm a gamer to the core, so my judgement is lopsided hah.
If you're looking for a powerful beast, the Play isn't there any longer. But the Play is future proof because in 5 years, the Play will keep being at least a portable emulator which can handle anything below N64 with nice controls.
XPlay-Swype
I just picked one up for 90$ on eBay and am really liking it other than the fact that it seems to have a weak signal compared to my iPhone 4 and drops 3g quite frequently on Verizon. I'm beating all the gba castlevania games at the moment and some Zelda ocarina of time. Any good suggestions?

Honestly, I'd wait to see if sony releases an XPlay2, or another phone with physical game pad. I think the phone has sold well enough to justify another iteration with more beefy specs (the afore-mentioned dual or quadcore, more internal space, and more ram).
But if you're absolutely desperate for a new phone, I'd get this one.

Great 2nd phone
I am a proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy Note, huge AMOLED HD screen, powerful dual core yada yada yada.. I was looking to buy a PS Vita, I mean the Galaxy Note plays games extremely well but there's no getting away from a dedicated hardware game pad being ultimately better for portable gaming.. But Sony are asking too much for compulsory memory cards and the game titles are truly wallet rinsing.
In comes the next best thing the Xperia Play and nicely doubles as a second phone. (I am still scared of showing the Note too much - in public, always a risk of having it snatched!) So today I ordered the Xperia Play for a very reasonable £170 and I think will satisfy me for a while

IIRC Sony has basically said NO so far on an XPlay 2 of any sort. As far as is known its not in development at all, so it could be a looooong wait.

I upgraded from X8 to Play, I wasn't expecting it but I found it for a very cheap 150€.
I'm very happy with it, it's a big evolution, specially the screen size. I thought the fisical controls wouldn't be very important to me since I never played very much on my X8, but it does make a difference, it's simply great.
My thoughts for you are: if your looking for a nice performance, great gamming, nice screen size (not the best luminosity out doors, but it works) and amazing sound (the best I heard on a smartphone) and you have low budget like I did, go for this. If you want a powerful phone with the most amazing screen, you use your camera a lot, a phone with better functionality to compete with the current beasts in the market, I'd buy an Xperia S (too bad I had no money for it) or Xperia P
I like the Xperia Play and i'm gonna be holding on to it until another one like that hits the market.
The Xperia Play is an all rounder for me. I can surf the net watch videos nice 4'' inch not the best but its not that bad and the gamepad is a plus for me
Oh and Ice Cream Sandwich will be released as well

Indeed same for me - I bought the play about a month ago - specs are still enugh for me - and as i dont own a psp,.. neither my old beloved gameboy - I LOVE IT
But if u dont wan to carry around several devices - and are not one of those I NEED THE BIGGEST FASTEST AND HIGHEST guys - GET IT
Best allround handy for me - if u love console games
Hardware not too old - and nice and fluid - just a bit heavy
Btw - bought mine for 250€ - there are not many other similar hardware "speced" ( does it exist ) handys at that price anyway....
The upcoming release of the Microsoft Surface will offer a digitized pen. Both the RT and Pro versions can use the pen; however, Microsoft warns that only the Pro version has palm rejection and highly accurate pen input (similar in quality to our s-pen). I am guessing that the RT version will work with the pen just not very well. For those who have tried writing without palm rejection you know what a frustating experience it can be.
It is estimated that the Pro version will price around $900+ or competitive with ultrabooks.
So if pen input is high on your list of must-haves, the Surface will offer it but it will cost you if you seek an experience on par with the SGN10.1.

Additionally it looks as is the Surface RT will have a comparable resolution to our SGN10.1. NO full HD. Also the Surface will be significantly heavier than our device.
There seems to be quite a debate about the price of the RT. As low as $200 (which I doubt) up to the $400 to $500 range.

One advantage Surface has is that every app made for RT will be a tablet app....unlike android where most apps are phone apps.
Who knows, by the time Surface comes out it'll probably have more tablet apps compared to android.

Seriously doubt it. Android has more tablet apps than you think. It will take a while for them to build up the numbers android has.even then, more and more will be created for android.
I do want a MS Surface also though
Looks like the Pro is the only one worth having and it will be heavy (over 2 lbs) and expensive. The Pro is basically a touch screen ultrabook with a really small screen.

And there in lies the problem with RT. It won't be able to run native Windows apps so the only content will be what app developers adapt for ARM. With the jury still out on the ARM version of Surface's success, I wouldn't expect to see a slew of adapted and original apps for it when it releases. If you think about it, WebOS on the HP TP was really cool, easy to use, and very intuitive for the non-technical. It failed because of lack of content. MS can (and I expect will) port their apps over to work on RT but does anyone want to rely on Windows Media Player and WMA and WMV files (again)?
This is from a MS SEC filing. There's a great deal of risk in both the launch of Surface and competing with their h/w partners at the same time.
We also offer vertically-integrated hardware and software products and services; however, our competitors have been in the market longer and in some cases have established significantly large user bases. Efforts to compete with the vertically integrated model will increase our cost of revenue and reduce our operating margins.
We derive substantial revenue from licenses of Windows operating systems on personal computers. The proliferation of alternative devices and form factors, in particular mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers, creates challenges from competing software platforms. These devices compete on multiple bases including price and the perceived utility of the device and its platform.
Even if many users view these devices as complementary to a personal computer, the prevalence of these devices may make it more difficult to attract applications developers to our platforms. In addition, our Surface devices will compete with products made by our OEM partners, which may affect their commitment to our platform.
To me it seems like RT will be too little and Pro will be too much. I mean why drop $1000 on a 10 inch screen with a crappy keyboard when you can buy a nice laptop for that? I dunno but can you imagine trying to use MS ACCESS on a 10 inch HD screen? You would go blind.
Right now im feeling pretty good about my SGN10.1

I would think MS Access on a 10 inch screen would make my head spin. I also think the 10" form factor is best suited to light to moderate productivity tasks along with consumption of media, communications, and presentation. Tasks like note-taking, email, basic document manipulation and that sort of thing seem to be the most well-suited for conversion from a full PC to something like a tablet -- information management stuff, really. For $1000, I'd buy an ultrabook and use my regular wacom drawing tablet with it if needed, rather than the Surface and it's almost-full-windows OS.
I just don't envision doing a lot of real work on a 10" tablet, no matter who makes it. I'm a web developer (and designer) among other things, and while I certainly have the tools at my disposal to write source code on my tablet, I think I'd go insane with a project of any real size. Screen real estate is the major factor, IMO: my PC is a dual monitor setup and I use every bit of both monitors when I work. The Note has gone a long way in the short time I've owned it to changing how much and what tasks I use my tablet for. I find myself reaching for it far more often than I ever reached for my OG Transformer (and the TF had a keyboard dock!)
The Note 10.1 lets me sketch out ideas, create rough designs, and take notes on a decent size screen (the Note 5.3 is just too small for my liking for this) -- basically every bit of the prep work that I do (and sometimes just notes to myself while I'm mid-project). It's part of my tool set now, but definitely not the end-all for productivity. I have absolutely zero interest in a windows tablet, even with a true MS Office on it. Windows tablets have long been (and sounds like they still will be, even with the surface) too expensive for what they do (or, in the case of the lower priced Surface tablet, doesn't do enough for the $$). $500 was perfect for me -- I get my media consumption device (I already have enough $$ invested in android apps and content) plus a work tool all rolled into one and for a price I'm completely happy with.
My only hesitation when buying my Note 10.1 was knowing the MS was coming out with pen enabled tablet in two months. I have always felt tablets from the start should have built in support for inking abilities, after all, what is the tablet replacing first and foremost - a note pad. I have been frustrated up until now about the options - using a large, hot running, full of vents for cooling, expensive windows tablet with short battery life (but very good inking with active digitized layer on the screen) or skip the inking altogether and use keyboard (Transformer Tablet). I decided to go the Transformer route with a purchase of a TF101 when they first came out, loved it (still do) but still wanted to be able to write on the tablet like a pad of paper (capactive stylus never have worked like a real wacom one). Now the Note is out and I did wind up buying it, love it a lot but just wish I could have the best of both worlds on this tablet - long battery life, light, real inking ability is all there but its missing some type of real MS office type of app including OneNote that takes advantage of inking.
If I knew MS Windows 8 RT would have the same capabilities as my Note 10.1 (Speed, batt life, real inking) along with fully implements MS office then I could see me wanting to get one. A bonus is also the keyboard, I know some scoff at their keyboard but I'm wishing we had something like that on our Note!
But thats just the point. Pen performance on the RT will be sketchy at best. No palm rejection? Fogetaboutit. You want pen with an HD screen on Surface? Youll pay ultrabook prices for a tiny 10 inch screen.

I read in a review that it will but that it will basically suck. No palm rejection and not very accurate input. Probably no better than a rubber tipped stylus. But people can start to see why the SGN10.1 doesn't have an HD screen. It wouldn't work with the pen without a much more powerful CPU.

Most likely if it has a pen at all it'll be passive, not active. It wouldn't make sense to build in a digitizer and then not bundle a pen. Which means it won't be any better than using your finger really.

This would be my choice - the best of all types of inputs, you decide how you want to use it, keyboard, touch or digital ink. I did notice in this article http://www.zdnet.com/samsung-to-introduce-hybrid-windows-8-tablet-at-ifa-2012-7000003235/
They say the full version of windows 8 tablets will sell for "several hundred dollars" I was under the impression only the RT ARM version was "rumored" to be starting at $200 and the full on X86 tablets were start at over $500 - $600 at least, with higher end tablets expected to be much higher. Is this still the case?

The RT does not have a digitizer. Pen performance will be just like any other tablet with no digitizer (e.g. iPad, Transformer, etc..)
And a "tiny 10 inch screen"?? It will still be 1/2 inch BIGGER than the Galaxy Note 10.1 screen... (same for both RT and Pro).

Got a link to support your claim about the weight? And is that weight with the keyboard attached? Okay, and how much does the Note 10.1 weigh with a keyboard?
If you want to compare weights, please keep the comparison apples to apples. The Surface Pro does not require a keyboard. It's a tablet with a digitizing stylus - just like the Note 10.1.
As a matter of fact, MS specs for the Surface Pro are 903g. The GN 10.1 is 594g. Or 1.99 pounds for the SP and 1.31 for the GN 10.1. So the SP is 0.68 pounds or 309g heavier.
http://www.microsoft.com/global/surface/en/us/renderingassets/surfacespecsheet.pdf
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab/GT-N8013EAVXAR-specs
And how do you figure that a 10.6" tablet with a digitizing stylus is "a touch screen ultrabook with a really small screen".
What do you have against the Surface Pro anyway? You seem to be going out of your way to trash it based on stuff you "heard" and stuff you "read" (but haven't provided links to).
If the Pro does come in at $900, you'll still be getting 64GB storage (which you can't even get on a GN 10.1, and with the option for 128GB), full 1080p resolution, and a 1/2 inch bigger screen. Just the bigger screen has to add some to the weight. And you can run ANY Windows app. That means WAY MORE apps than you can run on the GN 10.1. And all that hoopla about "multi-tasking" on the Note? Well, you can actually do that FOR REAL on the Pro - with any app, not just the 6 that Samsung gave you.
$900 doesn't sound that bad compared to $550, when you're talking about double the onboard storage, way higher resolution graphics and, according to you, a much more powerful processor. And the option to add on a really thin keyboard cover that attaches magnetically, turns the screen off when you close it, and looks like it works pretty darn well when you're using it. Heck, how much are you going to spend just to have something to prop your Note up for watching movies? The Surfaces have something for that built in. Oh, and did I forget to mention the Pro has USB 3.0, built-in DisplayPort output, and a 2x2 MIMO WiFi antenna?
The Surface Pro is (slightly) bigger, better, faster, and more capable. For a small amount of extra weight and a bit of extra money.
At the end of the day, if you have a legitimate need for what the Galaxy Note 10.1 offers - i.e. it's more to you than just a neat thing to play around with and let you feel superior to your friends with Transformers and iPads - then I suspect the Surface Pro will more than justify its extra cost to you for all the extras that it will provide.
I really, really like my GN 10.1. I think it is the best tablet on the market right now and I have a legitimate business use for the note-taking capabilities. But, I don't have delusions of grandeur about it. It is what it is and I expect the SPro to be Note++.
Again, what do you have against the Surface tablets?
Stuart calm down.
I have nothing against the Surface Pro. My point is that if you can afford the Surface Pro you should get it but do not feel bad that your $500 SGN10.0 doesn't have an HD screen like a device costing almost twice as much.
What makes you such a Surface evangelist?
P.S. How do you figure almost twice the price is a "bit more money". That hyperbole my friend. It will be the Note ++ and the Price ++.

Just found this gaming tablet that could possibly kill the xperia play: http://eurodroid.com/2012/08/29/archos-gamepad-7-android-4-0-gaming-tablet/
It's a seven inch archos gaming tablet running ice cream sandwich. It has two proper touchpads/joysticks and is 1.5GHZ dual-core.
And at £130, it seems like a good deal. Release date is October
Two things
1. The Xperia Play is pretty close to dead, Sony doesn't really support it anymore, its outdated, and its only a matter of time before the new games won't play on it.
2. This tablet is made by Archos, long time purveyors of junky Android products. And its not a phone. This thing firstly is no competition for the Play and secondly is barely going to sell anyway, and the ones that do aren't gonna work very well.
This is the only alternative to the Play. Or connecting ps3 controller to phone/tablet (eww)
Besides the cheap Android handheld with no warranties.

Sounds like they're even incorporating something similar to GameKeyboard to provide physical-button to touchscreen mapping, with automatic game recognition.
Henri Crohas, ARCHOS Founder and CEO noted that “thanks to the mapping and automatic game recognition systems included on the GamePad, we already have over a thousand android games compatible with the ARCHOS GamePad’s physical controls, including back catalog titles that originally didn’t include physical controls.”

Sounds pretty cool, but not sure if it'll be what I'm interested in for a tablet - which I don't see as a direct competitor for the Xperia Play. I was hoping Sony would announce a new gaming phone, but it doesn't look like it yet...

Just adding Droid-Life's post about the Archos device...
Bought a 7" Archos tablet for my younger sister.. I have no complaints about their devices.
But I will never ditch the Xperia Play regardless if its "dead" to anyone

I must say that this device does certainly look good, as long as the price is right and looks anything like the render shown I`ll certainly be interested.
I am no tech-head, but is not Nexus 7 already more powerful than this? I mean with Tegra 3 and stuff...
I am seriously contemplating getting a Nexus 7 for games and I thought pairing it with a bluetooth PS3 controller wasn't such a bad idea, for HOME gaming of course.
Could somebody prove me wrong, or convince me that this Argos thing is a better solution?
No it doesn't... This is a tablet. Tablet and phones are two different things
The Nexus 7 is more powerful than this and is likely a better device. The Archos tablet has a gamepad which seems to be it's big selling point. The gamepad doesn't look detachable though so isn't like the gamepad seen on the wikipad tablet which is more powerful or just as powerful as the nexus 7. I read somewhere that this Archos device automatically takes games that don't use the controls and makes them work even if they aren't optimised. From what i've read, it'll be under 200 dollars

Yeah I saw that in a description for the device, it`s using a patented system and currently has compatibility with over a thousand games, I would assume it also has the ability to have the on screen controls programmed in aswell which would expand it further.
If it does indeed release at that price I think I will most likely purchase it as that would be exceptional value for money.
Its actually stated about the controls and the price on eurogamer
I'll admit i'm quite tempted by this and can see myself buying one. The price is good, cheaper than my play (£150 Sim Free, it looks like this it will be a little cheaper).
I have heard bad things about Archos but who hasn't heard bad things about sony and still loves their play?
A gaming tablet with dual core processor.... I don't think that you can play the newest games with highest textures on this thing...
Sorry for my bad English. It's not my native language.
There are also details of the Wikipad floating about which will have a 10.1" screen with a resolution of 1280x800 and has "Nvidia Tegra 3 T30 1.4 GHz processor, and it will run with 1 GB of DDR2 RAM, and at least 16 GB of internal Flash memory storage". Sounds interesting again, its control pad will be a detachable one.
I've seen a lot of these physical controller solutions brag about being an Xperia Play killer... and ALL of them have failed to get good software/developer support. Most of them don't even hit a 4th of Xperia Play's game compatibility count, and thusly end up in the tier of crap that isn't good for anything but emulation. Xperia Play is the first and only to get relevant, this-generation games. It's good as an emulator, but doesn't have to piggyback off older systems' works to have awesome content... can't say that about the Gametel Controller, iControlPad and others.
So there's no secret that I'm a bit skeptical about this projected figure of 1000 games... if they're serious about that, then we truly would have the first device since Xperia Play to add physical controls AND enough developer support to matter. Don't get me wrong, I'm interested and stoked... but at the same time, skeptical and already seeing problems (size, obviously terrible d-pad).
I know what you mean TLR, but this Archos tablet seems like it will play any xperia play optimised game and maybe some more

Game support shouldn't be too difficult if they can do something like GameKeyboard with the ability to load/save/share profiles. This is something Sony should have done with the Xperia play, instead of leaving us completely reliant on each individual company/dev.
That said, Xperia PLAY is a phone and this a tablet and so the two shouldn't be compared. I don't see myself getting this.. why? the whole point of the Xperia PLAY was to get a phone and gaming in one reasonably sized device. If I didn't mind carrying something of this size around with me, with gaming in mind, I'd just buy a Vita.

With Skype, I don't see why not?
This thing is way too huge. 3.5 or 4 inches would have been perfect. 7 inches too big to be portable.

can we have call with that ?
- No
so the xperia play is still the one !

2. This tablet is made by Archos, long time purveyors of junky Android products. And its not a phone. This thing firstly is no competition for the Play and secondly is barely going to sell anyway, and the ones that do aren't gonna work very well.

I had several Archos products in the past and while their hardware is good, I dislike their business practice so there is no chance of me buying their future products. Things such as lacking of firmware upgrade and instead bringing out incremental model upgrade. Also locking the harddrive serial to the firmware so you cannot replace it if it dies, I know new devices use flash memory now, but point is I don't see them as a company being close to its fan community. Just my 2 cents.
This tablet is still one of the best u can get for games and movies thanks to the nice performance and stereo speakers... i just wish it was abit bigger then 7 inch, they should do a 10 inch that would be perfect, been using it almost everyday over a year and its stll going strong Only shame u cant buy the shield controller for this not like its worth going from this to shield really...
Jaså det säger du?! What I like about it, is the fact that it will fit in my pocket of most jackets I have. Really handy. I'm sure they will make a 9-10 inch Tegra X1, one of these days.
I agree. Since getting it as a tide me over until a Shield sale, I now feel I can wait for the Shield tablet 2 or later as there really is little this tablet can't do that another one can. I already have a Shield Portable so I already have the streaming covered both handheld as well as hooked up to my TV, and agreed the stereo speakers are quite good. Even high end games like World of Tanks Blitz runs great and looks good on this little thing.
Definitely the best black Friday purchase I have made in a while.

Yeah so true. You really know your stuff.
Its awesome. Surprised its not that popular

I think Nvidia's strategy to have different manufacturers in the way they do their graphics cards is why this wasn't more popular. Also, the screen resolution and 1GB of RAM were considered a bit sub-par when this first came out and even more so now. It's a good tablet, but it just never appealed to a wide audience the way the Shield Tablet has.
I was really looking for a gaming tablet (mainly for world of tanks blitz) and the shield k1 was a very viable option for me because of the gaming controller, but when I heard they didn't upgrade the specs I was really disappointed.
So I eventually went with the iPad Air 2, and soon planning to buy a steel series nimbus controller. The price is more then twice as much, adding the controller and the oem Apple cable to be able to connect the tablet to my tv, but in the end I believe it is the better option for gaming and future proofnes.
Or is it? What do you think I should have gotten?

The K1 isn't a 2nd Generation device it's just an makeover! Have the original one and also play Wot Blitz, works great on max settings with an average of 60 fps. Don't use the controller for it, because as i tried it some time ago the game wasn't optimised for it.
So you essentially wanted a more expensive Nvidia option perhaps with the the X1 chip? I think Nvidia wanted to sell more K1 inventory and keep the price at $200. I imagine there will eventually be something new from them though.
The only reason I own the K1 is because of the low-ish price. I don't see value in more expensive tablets.
The Apple products might have a better game library.

There's no such thing as future proof in regards to technology. I have the k1 it's a steal for 200.

Well, the x1 does look promising, but if there's no news about it in the next 28 days before I can return this ipad, i guess I'll have to stick with it.
I really hope they announce something, ios is very optimised but is also extremely limited, even jailbroken.
Read something about Nvidia saying that they had been shut out of the tablet market and were going to focus on gaming devices instead. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but I wouldn't count on a Shield Tablet 2. They only sold something like 88,000 units of the Shield Tablet 1.
It's too bad, I just got one and am loving it. Head and shoulders better than my Nexus 7 and I'm really impressed with the stylus. Really impressed. I'm not an artist, but I feel like I should start doodling or something just because I can.

That's really bad news. I'm guessing because they sold in limited countries and really didn't advertise the product at all, which is a shame because they definetly have the budget to do so.
At that price and performance, they could rock the market.
Yeah, no device is perfect, even iPad has it's own cons.. but having the shield tablet is worth the $.
The ipad air 3 should come out in the next few weeks, if it will have the same a9x as the pro i think that i will give it a try( would be my first ios device). Thought first about the pixel c, but well tegra chips arent that good in google devices. I owned a nexus9 and compared to my shield tab it didn't played wot blitz that good on max settings, heats and throttles a lot which leads to frame drops(30fps)although it scored higher in Benchmarks. If you want an Android device for media and gaming there is still nothing better than this 2 year old shield tab.

That's my problem with android, even if it has the horsepower, sometimes the device just won't perform as it should, probably because of lack of optimization.
The iPad 4 still runs games better then most high end android devices.
Wot blitz crash on stock firmware, aoo stay with apple
The shield for the money is amazing. The shield compared to tablets twice it's price is still pretty amazing. I wouldn't get something twice as much just because it's twice as much. I also wouldn't want anything other than Android for a tablet.

No it doesn't. Happened sometimes on 5.1.1 Lollipop but since 6.0 crashes are gone. Btw saw people with ios devices where it also crashed, so it was more a problem of the servers.
