My phone has access to all websites..why does the archos do this over PAN tethering? I am using wireless tether for root users to broadcast a PAN network..

I'm trying to connect my ps3 to the internet using my phones internet. I have a rooted Hero using wireless tether to my pc. I enabled internet sharing on that connection and hooked up an ethernet cat-6 from my ps3 to pc. My ps3 keeps timing out trying to optain an IP address. Does anyone know if it's possible to get the ps3 to share a mobile internet connection?
Edit: Manually entered IP address and it now successfully obtains, but I get a DNS Error. I've tried a few open source numbers, none of which seem to work.
Why don't you just Wi-Fi tether? Program like wifi barnicale tether
It works from my N1 to ps3 slim
I tried that first. My ps3 wouldn't pick up the network when it would scan. I read that ps3's can't pick up ad-hoc networks. Maybe the new slims have that added feature though?
Make sure you are using one of the latest versions of wifi tether (.09 or .10). I think they now are a true router rather than a ad hoc connection

So I also have an HTC hero and what I'm wondering is if I can completely bypass using a pc/laptop and go directly from phone to console using a tether app ?
All,
Got my atrix last night and I love it. I rooted it last night succesfully as well and now im on a ski trip with my friends.
Everyone is connected to my hotspot (including myself) and using their laptops as we speak.
The phone is amazing.
does the hotspot works on Adhoc mode(peer to peer) or infrastructure mode( Peer to router)???
via the built in hotspot it recognizes as infrastructure, which is great as my CR-48 would not connect to adhocs. If you use barnacle tether then it will connect as an adhoc network.
Thanks for the info

im new to this but wat do u use to get infrastructure mode because i can only use peer to peer. could u help me out plz.
My phone is rooted, Atrix 4G, and I have tried using barnacle tether and wifi tether and I cannot connect to my TF.
How do I do this?
I understand it uses an AD-Hoc connection the tablet can use so maybe bluetooth or a hack?

The TF will need to be rooted for this method.
I have no problem with wifi tether, its a true infrastructure network. Barnacle uses an ad-hoc network and the TF will not connect to that without the work above.
What kind of problem did you have with wifi tether?
I can easily connect to my rooted Nexus One running CM7. I just run the built in tethering and connect.
What ROM are you running? Try the built in tethering if you have it. I didn't have any luck running the market tethering apps.
I have a rooted Droid and am able to wireless tether via Bluetooth with no problem. I also understand that I can't wireless tether via wifi because the TF won't except ad hoc wifi, which is what Droid creates.
What I would like to know is if I can wire tether. I bought a 2.0 USB to micro USB with a 2.0 female to female adapter and using a wired tether app on my Droid. The TF doesn't see anything, doesn't even recognize it's connected to a USB.
Any thoughts?
I just set my HTC Desire to be a wireless hotspot and my TF connects to that just fine !?

I believe this is because your phone creates an infrastructure wifi whereas the Droid is only capable of creating an ad hoc Wifi. That's why I would like to know if wired tether is possible since it would be much faster than the Bluetooth tether.
Wifi Tether 3.0-pre 14 **Experimental**

This was my only solution. I'm using my rooted Cyanogen Nexus S 4g with my unrooted TF
Wondering if BT Tether will work?
I have an original Droid as well, rooted, using wifi tether. It creates an ad-hoc wifi connection. To enable the TF to connect to ad-hoc you have to follow the instructions in the thread I linked to above, this will allow the TF to connect to an ad-hoc wifi connection. The TF will need to be rooted to accomplish this.
If your TF is not rooted, you will have to install Wifi Tether 3.0 pre-14 (http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list) on your rooted phone and enable Bluetooth tether. Then go into your Bluetooth settings on the TF and Pair to your phone.
Okay so at school my phone can connect to the schools WiFi but my tablet cannot. I want to tether the WiFi connect to my tablet because my tablet cannot connect to the WiFi. I do not want to tether my mobile data I want to tether the WiFi connection. Is this possible? Is there an app for it?

Try use easy tether app in play store to connect via usb to a PC that allows Internet sharing? Wifi disables hotspot so that wouldnt work
