HELP!!! - Nexus S General

I flashed the latest cm7 nightly, it booted fine. Then I flashed Netarchy's latest kernel BFS for 2.3.5 and the latest gapps right after. Now it just boots into the screen where it shows Google. No boot animation or anything. What do I do? I did a factory data reset too and wiped all the caches.
Unfortunately I forgot to make a backup. I know...it's really stupid of me.

Make sure you flash netarchys universal kernel......

But how do I do that when all I can do is boot into recovery.

You can mount USB storage from CWM then transfer the zip file to your phone.

UPDATE: I did not realize there was a way to mount the SD card in recovery. I did that and put CM7 on there and all is good. Thanks.

Remember that Nexus S have the Download Mode also.... For emergency it's useful!

Download mode? Please elaborate.

It's a Samsung proprietary flashing mode that is before even the bootloader, and lets you bring the phone back from soft bricking.

OK, now I'm curious. How do I get to this download mode? Is there a key combination?

It's flashing via ODIN software. Keep away from it, people have bricked lot of phones.

No boot after Font Change

Hello
I have a problem with my Nexus 7. I tried changing my font using font changer. It rebooted and now wont boot up. It gets stuck at the X.. left it there several minutes..
I tried to do a factory reset using Stock Recovery but that didnt change things. I was on Stock 4.2.2 unlocked and rooted.
What should I try now? Obviously I can get into fastboot mode.
Thanks in Advance

Hello, I have the same problem, but when I try getting into recovery mode, all I see is a dead android with red x sign and with no other option displayed. Where do I go from here?
Also, how do you flash stock image from fastboot? Thanks in advance!

That's stock recovery. You want to be in fast boot mode for fast boot flashing.

Sorry, but how do you get into fastboot mode? I can't use any toolkit to get into fastboot mode as my pc doesn't
recognize the device because it can't get past booting up.

Stop using toolkits and start reading. There are instructions here that walk you through the entire manual process.

i'm just curious, but how come you guys are unlocked and rooted and not running a twrp or cwm recovery? if you had one of those recoveries instead of stock, a nandroid restore instead of a system image reflash would have put you back to where you were before you did the font change as long as you did a backup right before you tried doing that. highly recommend if you're gonna play around with the system, install some kind of decent recovery, not stock.

[Q] flexrom - SOLVED-

I've been successfully using the new 4.3 ROM on my a500. After flashing the latest, it worked beautifully until I shut it down. Upon rebooting, it stays in a boot loop. I am able to get into TWRP 2.4.4, but cannot restore my backup or flash any ROM.
It looks like I accidentally deleted the flexrom folder from the tablet. I have not previously been successful flashing via USB. How can I recover my tablet?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

seems a bit strange u cannot do anything from recovery...what happens when u do?
Do u still have Skrilax_CZ bootloader?
Think I'd reflash the v8 bootloader/recovery pkge and go from there

Managed to get apx working and flashed bootloader v9. Got to twrp 2.4.4 but could not flash a rom. Flashed an apx bundle with b/l v8 and Thors 1.7 cwm. Flashed a rom with aroma and it looked successful, but would not boot past the wifi screen. Says process failed.
The flexrom issue seems to be solved, but I had to repartition. Could that be it? Don't know what the proper partition sizes should be.

Installed Paranoid Android.. Stuck in boot loop

Hello everyone. I am desperately in need of your help! I installed the most recent version of Paranoid Android 4.4. Everything worked great. I then decided I wanted a smaller nav bar and found a flashable zip file for Kit Kat that was meant to reduce the nav bar size. I flashed it but now I am stuck in a boot loop. I am unable to get to TWRP but can get into download mode. I tried using FlashTool to flash the stock ROM but it keeps getting stuck at 49%. I don't mind if I lose all my data, I just want to get things up and running again! What should I do? Thank you.

The reason the flashtools is failing at 49% is because you are on a non stock rom, therefore you need to wipe the phone before flashing to stock (ive had the same problem before), but because you cant get into recovery, im not sure how you will wipe your device

Once you get into download mode, hold the buttons to get into recovery.
To get into recover
Try holding volume down + power*
Immediately when LG appears let go of both and ONLY hold onto power, should boot into option to factory reset*
Hit power button 3 times to continue, then itll load into recovery

By wipe everything do you mean format wipe or advanced wipe? And how will I get the stock rom onto the phone to flash it?
Thanks

I mean wipe data, system and cache (internal storage aswell if you want) and you flash the stock rom via the flashtool and a pc, it doesn't need to be in your devices storage.

[Q] My LG G2 is stuck in a boot loop after installing Cyanogenmod 11.

I rooted my D800 LG G2 and then I installed TWRP. I installed Cyanogenmod 11 without wiping but I performed a backup using ROM Manager. It didn't run well so I wiped everything but the data so that way I would keep my apps. Then it went into a boot loop so I wiped everything. It was still in a boot loop. I have no way of connecting it to my PC and the backup was deleted. How can I get it out of the boot loop?

Ok thank you very much! That worked! Now I'm running Cyanogenmod 11 and there's one problem with it. When I turn my volume up all the way my speakers distort. I tried swapping the snd_soc_msm_Taiko file but I couldn't find the stock one. Just the volume boost one. It still distorts though. Any ideas?

U should flash stock rom to fix it
And for future reference, when you change roms you *MUST* wipe the data partition. If you want to backup your applications, use something like titanium backup to make an app by app backup and then restore after you've installed the new rom.
Me too, was stuck on boot loop but was lucky to have another rom in the phone and flashed it in TWRP.
Another LG G2 stuck

So using the Flash Tool did work great. But now I have a friend who tried to install Cyanogenmod but didn't like the way it ran so he used his backup of the original ROM to restore it. He deleted all the data and caches after each step of the installation too. But last night while he was asleep it booted itself into TWRP and is now stuck in a boot loop. But download mode is not accessible because USB debugging was not enabled yet (I think that's the reason it won't enter download mode anyway). So does anyone have any idea how this can be fixed?

Ok I'll try that. The AT&T version automatically updates and doesn't give you an option to stop the update so that may have happened.

[Q] HELP phone soft bricked

Hello Everyone,
This is my situation.... I want Unrooting my Sprint S4 using Mobile Odin .... and now my phone only boots up to the Samsung Logo. On that screen it also says Recovery Booting however it turns off after 10 Secs. I can get my phone into download/odin mode but that is about it. I can not boot into recovery.
I would imagine someone either has experience or expertise on this matter.
PLEASE HELP
Thank you in advance,
V.E.
If possible what bootloader, modem and ROM were/are you on, also do you care about tripping knox (or is it already).
You have to wipe data to get it to boot. This will wipe EVERYTHING on internal memory. Or you could reroot and install install recovery over Odin and boot into recovery and wipe data which will be like wiping to do a clean Install for custom ROM install. Which wknr wipe everything. Once it boots up apply the stock unrooted tar via Odin with a COMPUTER.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
I HAD Twrp recover... Had CWM recovery... phones acting like it doesn't have custom recovery (pain in my ass.)..... thought i used rom manger to put cwm back on it.
IDK the modem
I was on a Slim ROM (which was giving me problem as well; Great Rom but it just recently kept crashing.)
I already tripped knox forsure ..... and dont care..... i wanted to get it on a stock kernel by unrooting (Wasnt as brillant as I thought)
Don't even know if thats it possible (If it is show me the promise land! I wanted root again so I could get triangle away working on root.
However that is how I got here. So getting my phone operational would be a win, start; challenge accepted! :good:
