I have read and tried anything I could think of here.
I have downloaded RC29
Extracted the file to SD ccard formated to FAT32
Started up in Bootloader
Phone found the file and successfully installed
Pressed action button to reboot.
Stays in Tri color screen
I have tried the soft reset, but I am still stuck at the G1 screen.
I am not new to flashing and recovery, only to the G1. What am I missing?
Does it reboot and return to the tri-color screen, or not reboot at all? Did you try taking the sd card out and then rebooting?
The same thing happened to me, I downloaded rc29 to root my phone so I did the rooting and then I wanted to install the JF Rc33 update so I tried rebooting in recoveyr mode to install the update and my phone just got stuck in the G1 logo. It works on normal reboot but not in tecovery mode or when I press camera & power it takes me to a white screen with green letters and the little green android guy..... how can I fix that? I want the jf update. Is there any way of installing it without having to use recovery mode? Or is there anyway to fix recovery mode?
danguyf,
Thanks.
I just redid the RC29 boot off the SD card. Just to rule out some more issues, I formatted the card again (512mb Sandisk).
As soon as I hit the action button, I get the tri color bootloader screen.
I have tried:
removing the SD card PRIOR to pressing the action button
removing the SD card PRIOR to a soft boot (call, end menu).
I have been using a fully charged battery.

Oke good luck !
You need a WM phone to make a Goldcard and Qmat 2.24 if you use Windows.

Just so we are clear, these are the steps you followed???
1. Format your phone's SD card to FAT32 mode:
* Hook your phone up to your computer using a USB cable and then wait for the notification to show up in your title bar of your phone.
* Click the notification, and then click "Mount".
* A new removable disk should show up on your computer. Right click it and select Format, and select FAT32 as the file system type.
2. Download and unzip the RC29 or RC7 image file. Copy the DREAMIMG.nbh file to the SD card. (RC29 for US, RC7 is for UK)
3. Turn the device power off.
4. Hold Camera button, and press Power button to entry bootloader mode. You should see a gray/white screen with instructions to flash your phone with the update on your SD card. If you don't see that, make sure you followed the instructions properly.
5. As per the on-screen instructions, press the Power button to start upgrade procedure. DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO INTERRUPT THIS PROCESS.
6. After it is finished, perform the restart your phone.
The phone is not mine. It came in to us to recover. It came in frozen on the G1 screen, so I cannot perform these 2 steps:
* Hook your phone up to your computer using a USB cable and then wait for the notification to show up in your title bar of your phone.
* Click the notification, and then click "Mount".
It does charge via USB and AC.
It is now powered up and frozen, but XP does find the Android phone and it shows up as a disk drive in device manager.
First off, who froze it?
Secondly, does the phone get to the homescreen?
The user brought it in at the G1 screen.
That is as far as it gets in power up.

i hope you have a computer and either an extra mini sdcard *1MB in size* handy, or a mini sd card reader handy.
format the card, fat32.
download the rom from here. *scroll down to downloads section and pick the appropriate one. rc-33 U.S. RC-9 U.K. ADP unbranded*
if it's already named update, transfer it to the card, if not rename it update, then transfer it to the card.
After it has been transferred.
place the card back into the phone. start the phone up holding home and end key till it enters the recovery mode.
you should see a list of commands with a leopard looking-like screen.
hit alt-w
then alt-s
after it is complete, hit back+home to reboot again.
Just wanted to follow up annd say thanks to everyone for the help. I did not get a chance to deal with it today, but I will post the outcome.
I have the same problam too.
I have JF 1.1 Holidey version and when I try to update it to jf1.5 it gets stuck on the G1 logo, I tried using differnet updates to and differnt sd cards
and even tried the JF updater and it dosent work, I'm a bit frustrated, my brother rooted the phone for and installed the RC29 rom and the JF rom,
it offered me a system holiday update awaile ago and when I updated it froze on the G1 logo after I waited a long time (about 45 min) I removed the battery and started the phone again.. then I saw about 35MB free space (before I had only 10MB) and I think that from that point it added the holiday but I'm not sure if it wasn't already before that.. I realy need your halp with this.. I can't find a way to boot my phone and start a bootloader..
p.s. I was able to get to the fast boot when I press the power + Camera but I don't know how to use it..

G1 homescreen freeze
Hi,
I have a G1, installed hero-rom from xda(Jacheroski 2.0). I found it pretty annoying because the phone was very slow etc. So i tried to go back to the almost original software.
1. started G1 in recovery mode(Home+power), alt+x, adb shell, #parted /dev/block/mmcblk0, mklabel msdos, Y, rm1, rm2, mkpartsfs, primary, fat32, 0, 8000(8 gb card), shut down G1.
Downloaded:
- Radio (from htc support)
- SPL (from xda)
- Rom (from htc support)
Copied those files to my SD.
2. started my G1 in recoverymode(Home+power), wipe, apply any zip from SD,
First installed Radio = succesful
Tried to install SPL:got an error in line.
So thought that I first need to reboot my G1(because of the radio)
I rebooted my G1. got a installation screen. then I restarted my G1 and wanted to go to recovery mode to install spl and rom. It was frozen on the homescreen. I can't do any thing. not recovery not the other one(camera+power)
Any advice?
Hey every one I'm new to xda and I got my samsung vibrant rooted with the stock system recovery and was working fine but than I decided to do some apps and file transfer from another android phone to it and after that my phone kinda froze on me. So I rebooted the phone and boom nothing happen after the galaxy s animation, its just stuck there then the screen went black out. I rebooted again and this time I went to the sustem recovery mode and try to do the data reset but it couldn't fix it either. I tried to connected to my computer but since the phone wasn't fully booted into the home screen my computer are unable to detect the phone driver. I reconnect the phone and computer together, and this time I got to where it say's "downloading" "do noy turn off target", what is that mean? is it download something or is that I'm suppost to do something to it. Please can someone help me out. I've already download the stock firmwire but couldn't be able to transfer to the mass storage cos the phone couldn't boot beyound the galaxy s animation and eventhough its in the system recovering I still couldn't get it to connect to the phone mass storage. What can I do to fix it?.
You can take the battery out at that screen, but I don't know if it's going to fix your overall issue.
Take sd out. Hook to computer with adapter. Move stock nandroid to sd. Replace sd in phone. Boot into clockwork recovery. Restore nandroid. Reboot.you are now stock with root.
one thing
I know what I did is stupid but at lease I learn my lesson. I would really appreciate if someone could help me out.
help
I tried but its not working cost the phone doesn't read what's on the sd card it read only the mass storage which is the 14g not the 2g memorycard.
The SD card won't be in the phone so of course it won't read from it. It will read from the interbal memory, so do it from there.

Turn off the phone, take out the battery and take out the SD card, try to get your hands on a sd card reader for your card so you can fix what you did without using your phone to mount it. Copy the rom or stock firmware over to the card and use the recovery, wipe data/factory reset and then try to load up the stock firmware. if all else fails do a hard reset:
To hard reset Samsung Vibrant, follow the steps below:
Step 1. Turn your Samsung Vibrant off. If your Samsung Vibrant is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it.
Step 2. Hold the Volume Down button.
Step 3. Press and release the Power button.
Step 4. You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastboot, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button, then press and release the Power button.
Step 5. Choose one of these: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO. If you selected YES, all data including third-party applications will be deleted from the Samsung Vibrant.
That is for the default recovery so depending on the recovery you are using try to wipe everything and flash the ROM from the sd card, if you need help PM me or contact me on chat.andirc.net #droideris, or irc.andirc.net #droideris
Best of luck!

I followed this post about installing cyanogenmod 7 onto an SD card to boot my nook color off of the SD card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957
Everything worked great and it has been up and running for several days, very happy with the results.
Now I was trying to put gapps on the SD card and I followed the instructions shown below:
How to install market and gapps:
After you have booted into the CM7 on SD card for the first time and set up wifi access (important!)
Go to http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.ph...Latest_Version and at the end there is a table with various google apps versions. Get the one suitable for your cyanogen version (CM7 is the latest for now). The file is named gapps-....zip
shutdown your nook and take the SD card out, insert it into your computer.
Copy the gapps-... file to the SD card on the first partition (titled boot) without changing the file name.
Insert the uSD card back into the NOOK and boot into "Recovery mode." To boot into recovery mode: Boot normally into Android, then from desktop hold power key until a poweroff menu appears, In the poweroff menu choose "reboot", in the next menu choose "recovery" and press "OK". The nook would reboot straight into recovery.
So i have tried this several times and DL the file twice just to be sure but every time I reboot the system just comes up normally. I wonder if the gapps install package is named wrong? I don't know how to make this work.
Any suggestions?
Thank A LOT for your help!

turn on the NC, like normal, then power down, then you'll get option to reboot, reboot to recovery.
I'm sorry if my original post didn't make this clear, but I was trying to boot into recovery. I held down the power button until I got the shut down options and pressed restart then pressed recover mode. Every time I try this the nook just restarts in normal mode. I'm not sure if I've done something wrong or if this method doesn't work.
Just to give more information the file I used was:
gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip
I didn't unzip the file I just copied it to the SD card BOOT partition.
Seems like you've done what eggnoodle suggested and if it didn't work, the only choice is using combination of N & power button. It needs some skills.
Try that, won't hurt.
I tried that several times, and it didn't work.
Is there a way to verify if I am in recovery mode? I'm not sure I am actually making it into recovery mode.
Further down in the instructions it says that to install other stuff anything with the name "update-***.zip" will install on recovery mode. So I will try renaming the gapps file to this and give it a try.
If you see the "Penguin" with scrolling text running horizontally on the NC screen, then it is in the Recovery mode.
If you see the Android guy or CM7 logo, you are in the normal booting mode.
Ok, so my problem is that I can never get the nook color in recovery mode. Perhaps the instructions on the forum are kinda flawed.
This is what I am doing:
Hold down Nook button.
Hold down power button
Loading screen appears then goes blank
Release power button for less than a second
Hold down power button again.
Wait for loading screen to appear
Release power button
Wait for screen to go blank
Release the Nook button
Then the NC just boots up like normal. Is this the correct process?
The NC boots up normal if I choose restart in recover mode from the shutdown menu also.
Any suggestions?
As I said, you need some skills.
Don't panic!
After a few tries and when you get it in, you will mumble "hmm, it's nothing like the instructions, it's much simply than that, wheewwww"

Did you try going into recovery while in CM7 by powering it off and selecting reboot>reboot to recovery?
I did try that, just boots up in normal mode.
I cannot get this thing to work, I have also tried several different ways to boot up using the home button and power button I can find a combination that works.
so frustrating!
Maybe start over fresh with Cm7 and gapps install?
I intall CM7 and gapps at the same time...
Just to be clear I didn't try this because the instructions said do not do it.
Ok, so I reinstalled with gapps and cyanogenmod zip files both on the boot SD before it was installed and it took, but there were a few hang ups like it kept bringing in stuff from my phone when I linked to my google account. So I think I should be good.
Thanks for the suggestions.
That happen to me too. It installed a wallpaper that was on my phone that I no longer use. Strange? But as long as it worked, that what I cared about!
Yup same thing to me, it installed the wallpaper and some other apps.
Why won't it install angry birds, the market says it's not compatible? What the heck's up with that?
If you are having issues booting into recovery when booting onto the SD card. This post should help

The new market has issues with nook color. Market is looking for a 160 density level when the nook color is set to 161 to avoid panics.
Ive been using LCDDensity from the market and choosing Density 160 and changing the drop down to killall and click apply (reboot)
after it reboots go into manage applications and do a force stop on the market and clear the data/cache
it will reload and you will see all the options until the market resets itself. very annoying i know but its a temp fix until someone figures out how to fix this
Forget that stupid method with the buttons, it's a waste of time.

I have the same problem as Steveolio and followed exactly the same procedures. Maybe these error messages from recovery boot help some experts with a good idea:
Penguin
""rcS!

Mounting /dev/mmcblklp1 as /boot

Lets see if you have gapps installer too.
Gapps installer not found, skipping installation.
Flashing caches
Clearing recovery flag

1+0 records out
All steps complete, flashing again
Preparing to shutdown

Does that possibly mean gapps file is not in the right location?
thank you

There is no "Thanks" option so I just wanted to say Thank you! The button combo for booting into recovery has been kicking my butt and this was simple and worked flawlessly!
My lcd screen cracked last year, so i gave phone to local service and they repaired last week. I am trying to install a new rom for days but i cant manage.
I tried cm version13 and aurora, but my torch doesnot work. EVen in camera, in flash mode. Should i again open phone and look if there is a problem or it is about software?
And other question, i cant mount my internal sd card. WHen i open es file, it only shows /sdcard, and nothing more.
Now i opening storage, total space 1.40 gb, apps 32 mb, intrnal stroage 1.02 gb and i took of external to see. In file exploerer, again i can only see sd card0. I cant see my system or anything. 1-2 years ago i could see my system. And i connect to pc, there is only one parttion. 1-2 years ago there were 2, one of internal sd other one is phone memory.
Please help me to solve this. And i mneed a rom that is only fast and using battery nicely.
Why noone helps now i cant open phone. Swm 5.0.8 cant mount sdcar sdext and i formatted data so it cant opened. How can i fix that? I want to go back to stock rom to see if there is sd card is working and myt torch isworking.

Thanks rqmok. You are a great helpful person. You are trying to help me for days.
I went into pink screen. It automatically went update (i had put dload to stockr room update ,). Then i tried to open but still rebooting without oğenning.
So i went into rewcovery but i saw that it is android recovery, not cwm i installed. So i tried a lot of tgihngs. Then i installed aurora v20, but ittis interesting, i opened phone after that insstallation. It shows 2.3.5 rom, stock rom original rom.
I did not understand that.
And my flash again doesnot work. Should i give this back to the repairman to solve?
PLease looık my pictures.
pic 1 shows my first original screen. It was cracked under door and there were a lot of scratchs on phone screen. When i opened phone ,i could see scracths. So i bought from eb ay and gave a repairer. He made it. I dont know if it was well.
Then i put my foot on it slowly, but it again cracked. But i could not see scratchs. When i opened the phone, i could only see light not scratchs. So igave to same repairer without buying a screen. Pic 2 shows my 2. screen that came from ebay, there are no sctracts.
Now , my flash is not working and torch. I tried in a lot of roms. IT is not about software i think. And i have to press a lot of times to enable phone.
What do you say about that?
OK. Please tell me the state of your phone right now. What ROM do you have? What recovery do you have?

I am in loop. I cant open phone so it goes into pink screen, but updating from sd card. Then it again cant be opened . So i go into android recovery and flash aurora or cyangemod it doesnot matter. Sometimes it doesnot see , doesno mount. Then it restarts and 2.3.5 stock rom. But after 1-2 restarts, i cant again open, huawei logo only appears and restarts alot of times. So i again go nito pink screen because if i go into recovery, it cant mount. Fİrstly should update.
Without sd card, i went into pink screen but my computer could not see the files.

You can't view your sdcard files from pink screen.
If you are able to install a ROM and make it work then that will be good. But, you have said that this happened after replacing the screen. So, if you can open the phone and check for any disconnected cables that need to be reconnected then you should fix them. There should be a video on YouTube on how to do this. If you cannot do it then you will have to get it repaired.
I dont have screwdriver, i have 3mm, it doesnot work.
But after screen replacement, i used aurora for 7-8 days. Then i thought partition was wrong and deleted wiped. Now but i cant install a rom. İ nstall aurora but it opens 2.3.5 with pink screen.
What size screwdriver do i need?
Now in android recovery i wiped daya, wip cache and then restarted, then trierd to update on pink scrteen, it gave error. So again wiped datya. Now i could open it. it shows 2.3.5. İf i restart, it will be deleted again i guess. What should i do? Wİthout power off, update? I will try to install cwm
I tried to replace recoveryimg but i failed. Because ihad to install superuser, so it rebooted and phone again cant boot up, restarting a lot of times. I dont understand what the reason is
Again, i did revocery android, wipe data and cache , then rstarted. After a few boots, 2.3.5 opened. Then i again restarted and now it is trying to start again 10. times. I n my ext sd, there are dload and other zips, that can be reason? I dont want to delete those because if i delete, it will be hard for me to insatall those files
Now it is restarted, huaewi logo appears, then pink and colurful fireworkds, than black svcreen and contunes....
After wipping, i restart and it is fine, i could go into 2.3.5. But when i again restart, smetimes it again opens but as soon as desktop opening, it starts to begin,
android stops working
calendar stops working
a lot of windows. I click end activity but it repeats alot of times.
So, my original stcok is damaged or what?
I'm sorry I didn't reply for some time.
So, apps are force closing. Do you have system partition installed? Did you try going back to stock-partition?
Please try going back to stock partition, and if you can get logcat then please upload it here.
Thanks.

Stock partition, i will try but i wont be able to do it. I donthave cwm and in android recovery i t doesnot accept, cant mount sd card. I can only go into android recover, can only do wipe data cache, cant mount anything. Theen only can restart and sometimes i try to update in pink screen but failed in half of 1/2. So, how can i go to stock partition without restarting phone while open?
I think the 2.3.5 rom i downloaded (Portugal or Korean i dont remember) is can be damaged or wrong. But i think i cant change that too. I am locked.
What i should do, i dont know.
Still cant do. I go into android recovery, wipe data and then after 2-3 restart, it boots. Then if i restart, there are a lot of windows appear showingstop activities. So, i put first 2.3.5 then ginger bread custom app to dload in ext and int sd. Then after wiping in android recovery , i made power off and with + - and power, i made update. This time updates were successfull. It could make updates. But after updates, again could not start. After loading huawei logo, it restarts.
I cant change recovery because i cant install superuser because it should be restarted but if it is restarted, cant start.
I can only use sd card, after wiping data, until one restart .
Please help.
I was trying to root my phone and use Super SU to do so. I was on the TWRP and i couldn't find the SuperSU file so i rebooted my phone and it just goes to the bootloader screen. The screen just stays stuck but if i long press the power button it goes back to TWRP. I don't know whether to wipe everything or turn of my phone and back again. Someone please help me!
Download supersu and move your phone. Then flash it.

Where can i find the SuperSU download because it says my internal storage is zero. What if I can't find it how to i boot back to my home screen. I have an SD card and it says that all my storage is in there.
I flashed supersu and it still goes to the bootloader screen what do i do know?
Go twrp and connect to your PC. Then backup your data. You should format data if internal storage is 0
alright i successfully rooted but whenever i restart my phone it shows up both the bootloader screen and the enter pin screen. How do i remove those screens to just go straight to my lock screen?

try going back to stock using MiFlash and when you setup fingerprint +pin do not have it require pin on startup. Then re-root the phone
