I only use the U8800 heaphones/mic and I must not change because the pinout is different (begining by the point):
Sound.L/Sound.R/Mic/Ground.
The others like Samsung, Lg, etc. the pinout is:
Sound.L/Sound.R/Ground/Mic.
If we chage it the sound is bad because it return by Mic, not by ground.
I use cheap 1.3$ costed ones.
Jawbone ERA Bluetooth - Works Great. Jawbone app doesn't work on the X5 yet though.
Nokia BH 505 Bluetooth - Does not work well. Connection drops out when listening to music.
Jabra Sport Corded Stereo Headphones - I have just ordered from Ebay to use in gym.
Skullcandy INK'd Earbuds.
And the sound is very good.

I use the Ideos x5 headphones/mic.Anyone know how I can increase microphone power?Because most of ppl who talk they complain that they cant hear me well.
Thanks!!
Jabra bt3030 here with a nice pair of sony earplugs replace jabra ones.Works fine with u8800 as with any phone i used them, very rich sound with music and clear sound with calls.
I have only one thing with them...when a call is ringing, bt3030 has its own ringtone to headphones and not the one that phone has.The think is ,i use it riding my motocycle and if a call comes i wanna listen from my call announcer whos calling me.
Just got myself some Sennheiser IE7's and god.. the difference between my mp3 player and phone is astounding.
The sound in u8800 is just muddy with uneven bass and ****ty highs
Sennheiser PX-100II is excellent for me, but Ideos mic is turn off
Got the Sony MW600 recently on the back of some of the reports here and the Sound quality is much better than I thought it would be all things considered.
Happy with my MW600 but it doesn't work well with the Poweramp app...works much better with the stock music app.

What probs do you get? Play/Pause/Next/previous works ok as well as in call music pause and resume etc. Make sure you are on a gingerbread rom, as the bluetooth stack used in froyo roms is not really good compatibility wise.
If poweramp gives you problems on the BT Buttons, check its settings and disable bt support in other music apps. (i had experienced that problem while using poweramp and XiiaLive, with the latter taking over the bt buttons.)
I'm on the froyo stock....
The problem I was having was that on the BT set when I clicked next track, sure it changed to different track but on a different album. when I inspect the phone on pweramp it's still displaying on the previsous track. The PowerAmp will then freeze after a few seconds then FC.
I will try again using the BT settings for each music app I have as the Stock music app works perfectly...
I have found a possible fix for using third-party headphones, the Sony Ericsson Xperia 2011 range of phones have the same connector and are compatible with our Huawei U8800, so when buying just make sure it works on something like Ark, Play, Neo, Pro and others and it should be okay

VERY good results with the Plantronics Voyager 885. Mono and stereo in one. Good streaming and working controls (AVCRP and Handsfree).
Moto H700, Blueant Z9, Plantronics 510 are good. I've tried about 10 and those worked best, many seem to pick up static, others seem to sound very muffled.
For headphones, the Moto S9's work great for me. Amazing sound, better than some expensive wired heaphones I have.
another vote for motorola s9, stereo sound is great, call quality is good (i still cant figure out where the microphone is on this thing but people can hear me just fine)
just wish i could get custom ringtones to play in the earpeice

jabra bt8010
I have tried about 10 different ear pieces with my phone. I like the Jabra BT8010 the best. It serves two purposes. It can answer calls and with the extra adaptor piece it serves as bluetooth stereo. when u have it on the music setting you can hear all sounds (ringtones, warnings, voicecommand) thru the earpiece without the adaptor connected. That way you dont have to use that funky dongle to listen to music, etc. only bad thing is it picks up outside noise very easy.
another vote for bt8010
Aliph jawbone baby. Works like charm, never any static. By far the best bluetooth headset out there.
I bought some ibeats from best buy all excited of course, came home and unbox'd them. Apparently the headphones with the talk control in them sound like there's is a major Flanger effect in them unless you press the talk button.
and i tried it with the AT&T xperia's which were at best buy tried different pair and they sound exactly the same.
Anyone else out there using dre. beats with there xperia without any problems

If you get the ones without the mic they should work fine.. tried it with a whole bunch of headphones so that I could choose the right one (ended up with Denon D1001 - great set, esp with X10)
Yeah, Sony switched the contacts around on the plug compared to how everyone else does it.
Should work ok if you plug the headphones into the clicker instead of directly into the phone. Well, the headphone part will anyways.

if your headphone has a mic, ie with 3 bands on your jack, it won't work. apparently , sony has its own thing concerning mic, but the regular 3.5 mm jack, with just 2 bands, it should work just fine.
I'm looking to get a new bluetooth earpiece and I was wondering what u guys are using.
I want all the goodies and dont care too much about price.
What r the best earpieces out right now?
Thanks!
Sent from my mighty Epic using XDA App.. Sweet!
I like the Blueant T1. It isn't cheap, but compared to other earpieces with similar features it is quite reasonable. The Q2 looks nice too, but is a little too "smart" for my tastes.
I swear I'm not trying to shill for Sammy but their WEP200 is well-made, tough, simple, small and good. And cheap. Only drawback is that you may have a bit of a struggle getting a good fit, but there are separate ear gels that help, like the one variety pack I bought at Best Buy last night made by Jawbone. I've been using this same WEP200 for going on 5 years, and never wanted another.
The Blueant T1 has worked great for me. You can find it on-line for about 49.00 and Best Buy runs them on sale sometimes. It will speak text and play Music.
check out the jawbone icon
I've gotten the Samsung wep 780 and 750 and other older ones bur I lose them

Was originally looking at an earset but glad I found out about and bought a Blueant S4 speakerphone instead since it's mainly for driving. Anxiously waiting for Froyo on Epic so it can support hands-free voice dialing.
If you want comfort and really good quality get a motorola h710 and its not too expensive
Epic 4g
I'd go with either the Icon or the Motorola Finiti. Hopefully once 2.2 rolls around we'll get the same features, but on my Evo my Finiti would read all SMS and was amazing at voice commands and responses.
Blueant Q2. Expensive, but awesome.
Jawbone Icon here. Love it.
I've got a Blueant Q2 coming soon. I had a Z9 and Z9i before that. Anything Blueant is good. Some of the Z9s or Z9is can be had for $20 if you find a sale.

Plantronics Voyager 855 Stereo Bluetooth Headset
or the one I have which is
Samsung HM3500, which is also stereo with included earbuds adapter.
Excellent products. Look them up. Both are A2DP of course. I use the HM3500 with my Vizio TV all the time.
Voyager Pro +
It works great, sounds great, supports A2DP so I can listen to my media through the earpiece (ie, music, youtube, podcasts, etc.) and it's comfortable.
Plantronics Discovery 975 Connects super fast to the epic!!!
It always reconnects when I separate the two devices, unlike others when they separate, the earpiece turns off.
So you have to turn it back on, for it to pair again.
Very light weight, super comfortable, good battery life and the portable charger/pouch comes in handy
And as far as wind it filters it out pretty good. Noticeably better than the jawbone 2

It sounds good but in my opinion you look like a cyborg with the thing on and gets a little uncomfortable when you where sunglasses.
Plantronics Voyager Pro hands down.
Its comfortable and has active noise cancellation. Everyone that I've talked to absolutely loves their's.
Sound quality on the Jawbones is supposed to be good as well, but I don't see how they could be comfortable.
i've used plantronics backbeat for just over a year. i have a gigantic head, wear glasses/sunglasses, and my ears off uneven (yeah, i know, i'm the picture of beauty!) and the headset fits and is comfortable (sometimes i forget i'm wearing it, thus looking like a douche who walks around with his bluetooth on at all times, trying to look important).
the sound is GREAT. i'm a music snob, and i'm pleased with the sound.
the problem:
it worked great on my old blackberries, but has been pure poo-poo on my epic ever since rooting and installing custom roms. it usually pairs, sometimes connects, mostly disconnects randomly, and most of the controls don't work. and when they do work, they work for every possible app (so i can't just start and stop music. nooooo, pressing play on the headset starts music, radio, video, and podcasts.) i'm HOPING that the official 2.2 will fix this, but if it doesn't, i will be officially reclassifying this headset as utter garbage. it would be a pity too- because i REALLY love it when it works.
Im looking at getting the Jawbone Icon or Blueant T1
If anyone has used both please reply.. Ill probably get one or the other tomorrow...
Thanks in advance..
Hello everyone
So I'm asking if The Nokia Stereo Headset WH-205 is compatible with the Motorola defy...
Because some headset doesn't sound good at all when I plug in my Defy (For instance, the SGS headset))...
Here is a pic of the Headset:
Most probably you will hear sound coming from it. You might even be able to use the microphone. But the button(s) won't work.
If you need that headset just for listening to music I would recommend you some real headphones (IEMs actually), made by someone else.
If you need the mic/button, you have some soldering skills and you are ready to modify your original headset I might have and idea for you.
Have a nice day!

Why wont button work? What you need to do to make a working button? (lost my original one's)
From what I've found (by opening both a Nokia and the original Defy headset) they have a different circuit inside. The Nokia one seems to be working by simple short while the Defy has some SMD capacitors inside.
Sadly I don't have experience with (micro) electronics so don't take my word for granted.
I've tried to find info to convert a Nokia headset to work with my Defy but with no luck.
Have a nice day!
thanks for your response!
I had the chance to try the headset!
And unfortunately the sound don't come out well
The center seems to be to the L earbud...
Anyways I'm searching for a in-ear earphone to use with my Defy without having compatibility issues...
Can Anyone help me??
Do you need a simple in-ear headphone or one with microphone and button(s)?
PS: you can push THANKS if I was of any help

Well most preferably with the controls.
I'm interested with the Klipsch Headsets but unfortunately it says that the remote controls and mic are only compatible with Apple products??
COuld you suggest me some (compatible with Defy)?
What about the Etymotic mc5??
Can you tell me if it will work fine??
It looks like a pretty good earphones (don't care with controls/mic or not)
What I'm using now is HeadDirect RE0 pimped witn Comply TX-400 and they sound fantastic. They could have had a little bit more bass, but with a little bit of EQ tweaking it's pretty much fine.
What I was thinking about is taking the original headset apart and putting a female jack socket in place of the earphones so that I could plug in the RE0. It's not something very complicated to do but it could ruin your original headphones. I've seen something similar with SonyErricson's Walkman IEMs.
If you need any more help please tell me.

They are the same
Do the button and the microphone work?
what I know is that the original defy headset works on ipod.. so does this mean that any headset "only" compatible with ipod will work on defy?
I'm planning to buy an Etymotic Mc5 but it seems that no one has tested it on the defy yet..
By the way I created a new thread about the etymotic earphones.

My findings are:
iPod headphones work on Defy but no buttons. (same results with iPod 4 headphones)
iPod headphones and middle button work on Wildfire but no volume buttons.
Defy headphones and button work on iPod.
Now I realized that I didn't test Defy headset on Wildfire.

HI everyone
Can anyone tell me what headset with mic and control buttons working well with Defy? I prefer senheisher and Creative ones but I am not sure it work or not.
I like to control NEXT PREV function on the headset!!!
Thank you
Or this?
I tried a Nokia headset from a 6303 on the Defy. Sound came out poor... actually very bad.
What i am using now is an HTC (from an HD1/2 i think) headset. It works. headphones are far better than defy standard. I can answer or end a call. The HTC headset has only one button.
Will try tomorrow with my girlfriend's iPhone 3GS headset. I suppose something will not work. Sound will.
An HTC headset like mine costs arround 30$ i think. They aren't the newest model but they are good. Stylish as well .
For controlling music i don't know....
How can i use apple earbuds with ideos x5 because when i connect them i hear a tic tic and neither the microphone works....?
The same as Meizu EP20.
How to solve it?
Apple headsets have different TRRS wiring than one supported by this phone (actually I think that Apple wanted to differentiate itself even in this). There are adaptors sold that convert ground and mic (if I remember correctly these two are wired differently in in Apple headsets compared to regular) but result isn't guaranteed; it may or out may not work. You can find more information on the net, just search for Apple TRRS.
Oh, one more thing, I don't think that this is solvable by any software. It's a built-in TRRS plug.

but then how all the other earbuds working with ipod if it uses a differcet connection earbuds???
It has something to do with the placement of the rings on the jack (Standard = 2 rings, + mic = 3 rings)
My Jabra headset with mic doesn't work with the Huawei but it does with the Dell Streak, Palm Treo Pro and Iphone 4.
Also when I was searching I found that there were a lot of headsets which would not properly work with the Palm (but I never tried them with the Dell and or Iphone)
The best thing you can do is just to go to the phone/media stores and ask them if they want to test the headset with your device. You know when it all works correctly if the music you play sounds as it should be (no cracking noises through the ear buds etc.)
Hope this helps and good luck! =)

I think that Apple has grown into so big mover&shaker of electronics world that to manufacturers it's more profitable to go with their standard, than the regular one. Take stereo sets for example, every other has iPod-integration(I've been looking for a new one so I know, and it kinda pisses me off; why not micro-usb-integration with universal holder??)
