Anyone have Handcent on top of the battery usage chart? With 14 hrs of use, Handcent was "kept awake" for 5 hrs. I have pop up enabled but I don't think this is it.

Handcent works and is by far the best texting app out there. Few bugs but nothing major and with the sync with facebook its really nice. Plus themes too. Anyways. Handcent has sigs you can put in. So have fun.

Also, if you want to monitore your p500 hw's info, you may try Android Assistant and Android System Info - both free on Market.
I Will try Juice Defender - Battery (free)

I've been using Handcent since the day I got evo, but after I upgraded to gingerbread, it just hasn't felt as fast. What SMS app is fastest?
Sent from my HTC EVO 4G
Have tested the speed but I have been using gosms for over a year dont use stock messenger. Gosms has tons of features from custom rings/conversations to blacklisting color changes etc. Good solid messenger I use it try it out .
Kik messenger is the fastest best sms app by far....super fast, but other people have to have it...but well worth it

I keep reading that Facebook's app eats battery like crazy , is there some truth to that? I have it set to refresh every hour which i think is quite decent , I uninstalled it and saw no visible difference , what about you guys ?
I downloaded too friendcaster to use it as a substitute but a lot of images on the needs feed look really blurred , does anyone have the same problem ?

Try Greenify. You can have it force Facebook to hibernate after a while so it doesn't stay on and do things.

It used to be horrible, both to use and in battery life. I find it much better now, to the point that I can't tell if I have used greenify to hibernate it or not.

You could always check to see if you did greenify or not
Good to know that is quite better yet ,maybe I don't need friendcaster after all

Yes, for me it eats a lot and other apps too : yahoo messenger,whatsapp,etc...
I use Android Pro Widgets for Facebook and I can say its much much kinder to your battery life.
Just greenify it. Works like a charm.

I've been using it for over a month now and I love it. I couldn't stand the stock messaging app. Even with the various theming available, I hated the way it looked. 8sms has been super reliable for me and I like the look of it so much better. I use the dark theme.
