dual boot windows mobile and android - HD2 General

hi guys. I wanted to ask how i can run dual boot on my hd2 t mobile (windows mobile and android...) What should i do...?

Well, this was really one of the most frequently asked questions and there have been many tutorials so far.You could have done a bit of research before asking the question. But no worries, since you are asking, i will just post the links for the step by step tutorial.
1) For HSPL:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614
Follow the steps. Only steps 1-3 will apply for you. Step 3 is optional, unless you want to flash a custom WM ROM.
2) For Radio:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
Download Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14**. If you want to download a lower radio, ensure that it is a .50 version(x.xx.50.xx....).
3) For Android build:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=735
Download any Android build you want. I am using AmeriCan Android(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957652). After extracting, copy the Android Folder into the root of your sd card. Boot into WM,navigate to the Android folder using the file explorer and tap 'clrcad' followed by 'haret'. Android will now boot(first boot will take some time)
4) For dual boot apps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733752
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723200
Download any one of the dual boot apps you want. But for both, ensure that you install them in the device, not SD Card. These apps will let you choose if you want to choose WM or Android. It also automatically executes 'clrcad' and 'haret' from the Android folder, so its just a matter of choosing the OS you want.
Done.Ensure that you backup your contacts, settings, etc via PIM backup or if you are using a different backup app,you can use that as well. Also, follow all steps in the links clearly. If you have any questions, ask. Failure to comply with instructions may brick your HD2. I hope this helps and kindly do a bit of research before posting questions here. But since this involves flashing, i am helping, so that the chances of you bricking your phone is minimised.

there's also exceller's android loader

If you are wanting to dual boot Windows Mobile and Android then you do not even need HSPL. You only need HSPL if you want to flash anything to the NAND of the HD2. Android from SD runs via the SD card and does not effect the NAND in any way. So no you do not need to flash HSPL again.

ok ty very much i made the dual boot... yeeey ... can you give me a good WM rom? i flashed my hd2 with the ugliest rom ever

Check out the Energy ROMs, people seemed to love them.

Hey guys,
I have done quite a bit of searching around and have not really found a direct answer. I have dualboot American Android running and I want to update it. What are the proper procedures in updating a dual boot ROM? Thanks

You can update it by changing the contents of the android directory. You should have a backup of your data

[Q] Please teach me something:-)

Hello.
Im loving my HTC HD2. I think its a great PPC, and im happy with its settings too.. I have some questions about Android that I hope you could help me with.
1. If im gonna try Android. I want to back up my WM6.5 with all settings etc. Is it possible to make a image of my current OS+settings+programs? And How do I "go back" to my WM6.5 if its a total failure?
2. How do Android on HTC HD2 work? Does it remove WM6.5 at all or run as "dualboot"?
3. I had TyTn2 before. Many had problems with HardSPL, bricking and such.. Is it a big chance that Android will do the same?
4. Any tips?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=737397
1. Android for HD2 is at the moment only aviable for SD-Card boot. NAND - boot will come. So SD-Card means that it wont erase anything from you winmob rom. You need HSPL (means you loose warranty, but restoring is simple) to flash a radio > or = 2.08. The rest is very simple and not dangerous. So you wont need to backup the phones date. If you format your sd card you should backup the things on it as you know. Android works quite well. like a native android phone! try it!
A real dual boot doesnt exist but will come.
Do I erase anything with applying HSPL? Or do I just "patch" my curret radio?
First check your radio it needs to be 2.08.50 or above but ending in 50
if not you will need to flash see

.
Download your rom of choice
.
I using the Froyostone sense build from here
http://gamesquare.co.uk/froyostone.htm
Extract Android folder to the root of your MicroSD card
Download and install jmz Android dual boot from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723200
Run jmz dual boot and select Android
I have no problems running this on a stock tmobile 1.72 rom with the radio upgraded to 02.08.50

[Q] HTC HD2 American Android 2.3 TMOUS Install Issue

Unable to load American Android 2.3 on HTC HD2.
Downloaded the American Android 2.3 for TMOUS->Extracted Android folder to blank SD card /sdcard/Android->Opened up file manager on HTC HD2 /sdcard/Android and ran clrcad.exe got the untrusted popup clicked okay->Ran haret.exe got popup again clicked okay then saw a few white command lines (maybe 5) then the green HTC logo appears and sits there for ever. I let it sit for 30 min and no change had to pull the battery and restart windows. Phone is up to date only difference might be is it has been unlocked through T-Mobile. Does anyone know how to avoid this?
Ergh
I even tried HSPL3 and that didn't help... I just want the American Android 2.3 Gingerbread to load on my HTC HD2.. WTF!
Im having the same problem as well. I did the fat32 primary partition, on a clean sd card, ill wait for 30 minutes before i give up. some one please help, i got the desire hd rom running but would like to see what the gingerbread 2.3.3 is like.
Did you flash a new radio rom?
SO, you are going from WIn 6.5 to Android just by haret ? You cannot
If I was you I would start all over flashing HSPL 3, then flash Radio 2.15, then install Magldr 1.3, then copy the zip file to sd card and install. It's as easy as drinking a glass of water.
Be sure you chose SPL 2.08.HSPL and NOT SPL 2.80 when you flash HSPL 3

Ok first off what valv507 is mistakenly thinking you are trying to run Andriod from NAND. When you flashed MAGLDR you wiped your ROM from your HD2. This is why you can not get past MAGLDR it needs a ROM to boot.
You will have to reinstall your Windows Mobile ROM (hope you dide not loose too much data ) make sure it is a 3.14 ROM as they are the best for running Android from SD. Also make sure you have the 2.15.50.14 radio or atleast the 2.14.50.02 radio, the 2.15.50.14 radio is the best though. Also reformat your SD card again but use the Panisonic software to format it as most people say it is better than the Windows software. You can download it here. Make sure you do a full wipe and format using Fat 32. Then place all of your files and stuff from your back up back on your SD card including your Adroid build. then try to boot the Android again.
Put your HD2 into bootloader to reflash your Win Mo ROM. Hold down the volume down button while powering on your HD2 to get to bootloader and make sure you see USB in the white bar of bootloader before you flash the ROM.

What if I just want to run Android from NAND? At this point I just want to flash Gingerbread 2.3 on there but want the best version of that with the fewest bugs. Do you have any links to such a ROM? How would I go about flashing it? Thank you for the help in advance.
If you do a YouTube search you cab find a "how to install " video for installing NAND Android GB 2.3.2 on the HD2, it also has links to ROMs, Radios and MAGLDR 1.13. I installed it in about 15 mins after d/ling the specified files and I have only had a HD2 for 3 days. Very good video. I would link you to it but I am at work right now and I have the page saved to face on my home PC

If you want to go NAND Android just click on thr guide linked in my signature. I have links to two of the best guides on how to install NAND Android on your HD2 at the top of my guide. My guide is not a guide on how to install NAND Android but a guide to teach you what the things you need to install and run Android from NANN and WP7 are, what they do, and how to install them.
Also I use a non HTC Sense Gingerbread ROM and I really like it click the link for Hyperdroid in my signature if you want to check it out.
Thanks! let me learn this knowledge may.

What exactly are you asking here? Do youi want to know how to enter bootloader?
If so you just hold your volume down button down while powering on your HD2, this brings up the multicolor bootloader screen. From bootloader you can connect your HD2 to your computer wait for Serial to change to USB and then flash what ever you are wanting to flash radio, Windows Mobile ROM, splash screen, MAGLDR, and cLK. Click on my guide in my signature to get even more knowledge.
it is possilbe to have magldr installed running whatever NAND os you want.. and still boot ACA from sdcard.
the first post of the ACA thread has all the details you need to accomplish this.

to run it from nand you go to 10 services, than boot settings ,than select android sd ,than go to 10 again than select boot settings ad sd dir than select the android folder make sure there is not another folder named android, than go to ad sd nand and it will load. it tooked 15 minutes but he did say it would take long.
I took the same steps as the OP did and I'm experiencing the same problem. I am not planning to go through NAND and would like to stick with the SD build but it will not load. Any suggestions?
I'm using the latest American android build. Here is what I did:
1. Copy ENTIRE android folder to sd. If you want a faster boot time you need to copy over a new data image since one is not included in this build. It will create one on first boot, but this takes longer.
2. Once you've done this run clrcad then haret and allow it to boot. Mine took about 15 min total boot time to first lock screen without a data img. And about 7 to 10 min with.
3. Once you see the first screen DO NOT touch it. Let it settle for about 10 min. After that it should shut it self down.
4. Turn phone back on and boot android again. Letting it settle again for a few minutes. After 5 or 10 min of letting it settle pick it up and enjoy your sexy gingerbread.
Also, on a side not magldr is used for booting from wp7 to android. Haret is what is used for booting android from wm6.5
Hope this helped.

[Q]noob questions and noob help

hey guys i just got my htc hd2 and ive been playing with it lately but i cant seem to "crack the code" of this whole customization thing
i have been reading the guides and its been confusing and more confusing and more confusing now im completely lost cause i have no idea where the radio is coming from the custom rom or the file names that are mentioned in the guide. no doubt i feel dumb and retarded but a little help would be appreciated please and thank you.
i have htc hd2 t-mobile north america 1024 mb
i have installed hspl through the tool kit dont know if it worked or not i tried check it all looks the same to me. i dont know what to do next through the tool kit or the guides im trying to install cm7 nightly fingers crossed and still trying and phone isnt bricked. so any help would be great cause i have no understanding of what is going on at all like i am out, totally out of my mind trying to figure out the terms and procedures.
if anybody could point me to an extremely noob guide that would be great cause i read some and my brain is dead.
thanks alot appreciated to the max

You have to be careful when flashing the radio on a tmous model. This is where you can brick your phone. Do not use the radio that is used in the guide. I think it is not compatible Ruth the tmous hd2. Read here about it when you do not know what your doing. You should not start flashing before you understood everything what you do.
This is a step by step guide which you would have found when reading the stickies....

alright...calm down. Before you want to embark on any customization, ensure you have the correct HSPL and a radio on your phone. First enter the bootloader. Check your current SPL version. It should read HSPL2.08 if you have flashed HSPL correctly. If its correct, download and flash Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14** (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787). If you want to flash any another radio, ensure it is a .50 version(x.xx.50.xx**) After flashing the radio, enter the bootloader and check if the HSPL and radio is correct before you move on. If you want to flash a custom WM rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=534), please do. Ensure that the ROM is compatible with the TMOUS HD2 (compatibility will normally be stated in the first post). A complete and detailed guide on all of the above can be found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614).
I understand that you want CM7 on your phone. To play safe, i recommend that you stick with windows mobile and tinker with a SD Android build before you to venture into dual booting WP7 and android.
Download an Android SD build (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=735). I am using AmeriCan Android (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957652). After extracting, copy the Android Folder into the root of your sd card. Boot into WM, navigate to the Android folder using the file explorer and tap 'clrcad' followed by 'haret'. Android will now boot(first boot will take some time).
Hope this helps and like what rauschkugl said, kindly do some research and reading first. Try the tutorials out and after you are comfortable with flashing, you can move on to WP7, NAND android and dual booting between Wp7 and SD Android: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17282874&postcount=3 (ignore step 1).
Gd luck flashing and enjoy!. Do ask if you are really unsure of something.

update i have installed my first nand cm7 rom feels awesome thanks alot everybody.
any good roms or suggestions for ones with good gps and battery life ?
did you install clockworkmod. if not you should do it because all new roms need it to be installed. i'm running ndt miui right now and for the last 5 month or something like that. tried a lot of roms but battery life on miui in comparison to cm7 was a lot better for me. it also has some nice features that cm doesn't have. but you should try it on your own.
i really can recommend the ndt roms from langthan. he gives great support in his threads and the roms are fast and stable.

to make a clean install you can begin from start (task 29, flash radio etc.)
but to be more practical, if you flash with the same nand partition size you can wipe data factory reset from ad recovery and you can flash new rom.
if they have different nand sizes then you just wipe data factory reset from recovery then apply new cwm partition using usb flasher, then flash new rom.
but all rom cookers recommend clean installation (including reformatting and repartitioning sd)

clockworkmod is for installing roms without the need of a pc. you can also backup your whole rom and restore it. so it is very usefull.
you would have to got to magldr to install it. then you can start cwm by selecting ad recovery in magldr. then cwm will start. if you want to install a rom now all you have to do is put the zip file of the rom to the root of your sd card and select install zip from sd in cwm menu. then chose your rom zip and your done. all new roms use cwm installable zips. so this is the only way to get able to use new roms.

Good day to all
I am new to the site and would like to say hi to everybody, especially the developers doing awesome work.
I am from South Africa and not sure which rom to use. I want to install Android on my HD2. I am on the Vodacom network I have read here that installing wrong rom can brick the phone. If any body can point me in the correct direction it will be appreciated, also the correct install process. I downloaded Team Blue Roid rom but not sure how to install.
Enjoy the day
Heres what you'll want to do:
Install HSPL
Flash a X.XX.50.XX radio
Install MAGLDR
Install CWM Recovery with the proper size partition layout for the Android ROM you wish to use. The partition size is usually listed on the the first or second post of the ROM's thread
Place the rom.zip file at the root of your sd card
With the sd card in the phone, boot into MAGLDR, and go into CWM Recovery (AD Recovery), choose Flash zip from sd card, choose zip from sd card, and flash the rom
I would recommend using the HD2 NAND Toolkit to flash HSPL, MAGLDR, and CWM Recovery. It makes it much simpler than doing each thing as its own separate process.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090783&highlight=toolkit
You can run any Android ROM on your HD2, just follow the directions I have listed here in order, and read and follow the directions in the thread where you find your rom

[Q] whats the easiest way to install android

Hi, I have the hdc hd2 with spl 3.03.0000 xe, and radio 2.15.161.3.
You maybe able to tell by that that im new to this, but want to install android as i dont like windows 6.5. I've managed to install a stock windows rom with the information i've learned here. But now i need help.
I want to install froyo or gingerbread as ive used these before on other phones.
So what is the easies way to do it and wheres the best place to get the rom from.
Please try to make it as simple as possible, Thanks.
It depends, do you want NAND Android or are you happy with running SD Android? Basically, if you want SD Android it couldn't be simpler. Just go to the SD section, download a build, place the Android folder on the root of your SD card and hit CLRCAD then HARET in the file manager. If you want NAND Android it's still pretty straightforward. Follow this guide and you should be fine. If you find even this guide too complex try using the NAND Toolkit. If you can't use that, don't bother flashing NAND Android and stick with SD Android.
Have you tried using Google? <<< I'm flaming.
Why didn't you look for the Newbies' Guides that are floating everywhere? they will guide you from the moment you pay for your phone till you are welcomed with Android's welcome screen. <<<I'm trying to be nice.

Muahahahaha, I win Also, you linked an outdated guide for the DFT Stock desire build, so I double win (if that's possible)
Thanks guys after more reading and searching i think i should go the nand root.
This means i need hspl on it it first and i can only install this if i have spl 1.42.0000. Mine says spl-3.03.0000. It also says installing a stock rom will roll this back. I've installed stock win rom yesterday and it didnt touch the spl.
Can i still install hspl with this or do i need it?
Is there a list of available roms on this site?

*sigh* did you read Marvlesz's post about Google? Download HSPL4 and use it to flash HSPL 2.08, no ROM downgrade is necessary. Basically after you've done that it's as simple as flashing MAGLDR, CWM and your ROM (and trust me, all of that won't take you more than 30 minutes at the very most).

Check your device manager did u see mobile device? and is it working?
if not try to Reinstall the WMDC driver?
I used to have this problem too after i reinstall the driver the phone will be detected again.
However if u still can't connect the phone to your PC (it's driver problem, i think).
Try task 29 Change to cLK for me it fixed everything. (using HD2 toolkit is easiest way)
Sorry for being a bit dumb here but stuck again.
I've downloaded 4 roms-
danik supersonic v1.0 lite
boxmax.s3.5v8.0.magldr
boxmax.s3.5v8.5.magldr
boxmax.s3.5.v8.5.haret.sd
unzipping the first 3 provide no DAF.exe or install.exe, so stuck there.
unzipped the last and copied to sd card and the phone just stalls on the htc quietly brilliant screen.
What can i try next?

Which guide did you follow? The one I posted or the one which Marvlesz posted? Use the one I posted because the one he posted is outdated. You install CWM then flash the ROM as a zip file. I really have no clue how somebody can find it so difficult to follow simple instructions: DOWNLOAD A NAND ROM, NOT AN SD ROM. You've said that you want a NAND ROM and then you try to flash an SD build? At least have some common sense, please. Unless you have a problem which cannot be solved by reading in the future I refuse to give any more help, because it appears to be hopeless
thanks again i've learned alot more tonight, got my first flash done just waiting for it to load. Last question before i leave you alone Is there a way to tell the difference between which mods are CWM and which wont work.

Basically all ROMs use CWM, other than the DFT Stock Desire ROM. For everything else, just download the MAGLDR version of the ROM if there is one (many ROMs automate MAGLDR/cLK), change your system partition to the required size and flash the ROM.
hi tried downloading 6 roms now
DFT_LEO_NAND_Android
BoxmaX.S3.5.v.8.5.Magldr
For.user.Nand.v8.x
BoxmaX.S3.5.v.8.5.Haret.SD
BoxmaX.S3.5.v.8.0.Magldr
DFT_LEO_MAGLDR113_DAF
Android_2.3.5_Danik_Supersonic_v.1.0_Lite
Put all of them on the memory card and it only recogognises the Danik one when i go to choose zip from sd card.
When i try to load that it goes through ok till i reboot then it freezes at the HTC screen.

Is that how you say thanks to those who were trying to help you ?
Follow this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16528026&postcount=7 شبر بـ شبر and you should have Android by the end of its steps.
(btw, post reported)
I've said thanks before for his help. Ive asked for the difference between mods and how to differenciate them, i cant work out out why only 1 out of 6 is recognised. And i've downloaded the magdlr versions as suggested.
Then he calls me f*cking stupid. Think i have every right to be p*ssed off.
What do you mean by "Difference between mods" ? All mods come in a .zip package that is flashed in CWM.
When you download something (any mod, rom, kernel or anything) off the NAND section (this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=928 ) it is going to be a flashable CWM. (Unless noted)
But when you download something off the SD section ( this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=735) it is going to be ... well ... to be put on the sd without flashing.
Is this what you are asking for ?

Sorry, but I have every right to call you stupid too. I even posted DOWNLOAD A NAND ROM, and you go on and download ROMs from the SD section? It's frankly pathetic if you can't do that little reading, and if I were you I wouldn't bother flashing anything in the future. You're lucky you have a pretty much unbrickable device, because if you didn't I'm sure you would be sitting right there with a useless piece of hardware right now.
Thanks Marvlesz, thats got me sorted, the problem was when he said just download the "MAGLDR version", i thought anything with that in the name was the correct one. I'm not here to get into a slanging game so i'll just leave it that.
Thanks again.
