Ok, I know I'm jumping the gun, but I thought this would be a good idea. We'll need somewhere to list and discuss apps for the Evo. I know discussions will go far beyond this thread, but a place to compile a list and links to download or for instructions or to troubleshoot and so on and so forth will be handy.
I'm not sure what I'm doing, but it appears the size of posts is limited and from what I've seen the thing to do is to reserve some space at the beginning of the thread to make helpful information throughout the thread easily accessible at the beginning so I'm going to reserve some space if I can.
Advice is welcome. Please offer advice. If I choke (and embarass myself) and end up not getting an Evo (not likely as I think I want it more than sex) or fail to keep the thread updated I'm gessing we have other options like an administrator letting someone else edit my posts or moving info to a better thread or something.
I'm thinking this could get to be a huge thread so I think I'll reserve 3 more posts. If that's too many I guess they can be deleted. If we need more can an administrator insert them? If you have ideas on how we should structure this please speak up.
Since I'm jumping the gun I guess the place to start is with what we think it will come loaded with and what we want it to come with. Eventually we'll just list what's available for the Evo.
I've never done this and may prove to be unreliable and considered just making this a suggestion so if anyone is experienced and gung-ho about it and wants to take over right now feel free to step up.

Should I request deleting? I've never used Android so I seriously am looking for help finding, installing, and getting through issues. I know there are other clueless people like me also so why not make a one stop shop for the apps this phone can use.
One thing I think I may have just realized is where to get apps. I'm a winmo user and I think I've only bought one app and never understood why anyone needed Marketplace. I've downloaded apps from all over the internet and never even been to Marketplace. Are all (or most, or what) Android apps at android.com? I read there were like 30,000 android apps, but haven't seen them. I figured a market was an iphone thing.
Some of the best threads I've read were very well organized and were updated to make info easy to find. Some threads look promising, but get really long and you never know when you'll find what you're actually looking for. Maybe I just don't search well, but often what I think is a good search produces unsatifying results. This site is huge now and very difficult to search.
I really would love input from senior members and would like to know as much as possible before I get this phone. I have actually been worried about switching over to Android, but the new hardware and network seem too good(not to mention the new windows direction). I've heard good stuff about Android, but just don't understand it.
I'm worried about being stuck with just 5 or 7 screens. I know windows has to use apps to get it's multiple screens (UL, ilaunch, claunch...), but I haven't heard of anythig like that with Android. I've settled into touchflo and really like using the slider rather than flicking like I did with UL (especially multiple times to get where I want).
I'm under the impression the Android screens are customizable in that you can use shortcuts or widgets, but I'd like to have several full screen widgets (more than 6) and a launcher and a home screen with more info (even more than touchflo/sense on winmo). Is there anything like that?
Please tell me (and other untechies) about Android. Don't be a johnson. Sorry, couldn't pass that up.

you say you want 5-7 homescreens now.... wait till you use it... you might use 3-4.... MAYBE... I only use 2, but hey that's me. Also if you are that freaking skitso there's a homescreen replacement out there with up to 10 or 13 or something absolutely retarded amount of homescreens if you MUST have that many.
You can customize like there's no tomorrow, makes winmo look like a gimped iphone in that respect. You can change basically every aspect of everything if you look hard enough.
Touchflow is senceUI... senceUI is touchflow... same exact thing. If you don't like your senceUI (what will come with the evo), you can do the vanillia android home if you want, or enjoy one of the many many homescreen replacements, of which there is about a thousand different themes for icons menus screens title bars etc etc etc etc etc.

the apps don't run on the 5-7 screens, they're separate and "unlimited" based off of available ram, if you use up resources it closes the one android feels you aren't useing anymore to free up ram for your running app. It isn't as bad as it sounds in practical use, you won't notice it closing stuff in the background, the screens are only for widgets like in the video.
Like I said, customize your heart out. You don't have to be a rocket surgeon either, download a app, maybe a buck or two and go to town. There's free options, but it's not paying some big fruit company it's going into the developer's pockets so give them a buck if you like it. I have never paid over a dollar for any app I buy... and I have like 20 I felt the need to pay for. Small change in comparison to what I pay each month to use the phone... or what I paid for the phone in the first place.
Compare to a desktop or laptop and the amount of usage for a paid app... much better ratio of fun for price.

Most legit apps can be found in the Marketplace, both free and for $$. Off and on, you may see someone post up an app here that they're working on, but the eventual goal is to get it in the Marketplace for the most part. It seems that you went looking for Moby ****, and only found a white whale!

universal remote/dongle
Anyone know of anything like Totalremote from Griffin that can use the sound to ir converter for phones without an ir port?
I bought Totalremote with the converter off ebay to experiment with on my Mogul, but can't get it to work (it works on my ipaq). The Mogul just has no universal remote solution (unless I can get the ipod method from Engadget working, for which I'll have to get a male 3.5mm to male 3.5mm cord one of these days).
Since I have the converter I'm hoping there will end up being an Android version of Totalremote. I'm very hopefull since iphone is doing one using the headphone jack and since for some reason HTC has moved their jack to the top of the phone (makes you wonder).

1)metamorph(rooted only; easily changes certain aspects of your phone whereas a flash might change others along with it)
2)wireless tether(rooted only)
3)facebook(not sense's watered down version)
4)estrong task manager (comes with a killall widget)
5)cachemate(makes your phone zippy when used correctly)
6)handcent(oh man...)
7)linda file manager(seems to be the best one, to me)
8)some sort of battery percentage widget(i actually havent settled on one yet)
9)picsaypro(mini photoshop on your phone)
10)google voice(google it)
11)iMusic+widget(limewire on your phone)

i compiled this list by simply sliding through my app drawer, but didnt even think; the fact is, with the latest 2.1 builds theres litterally NO i.s., so i do my best to keep my app download-age as low as possible. theres actually alot of apps i download, install, use, then uninstall. a fun game you can check out it What The Doodle?! online multiplayer...draw on screen your keyword, people try to guess. I cant remember the name of the other game...Attack!! or somethig. your a cow and you tilt the phone to jump from platform to platform (like teeter, but with a cow, and the final destination is a spaceship)
i expect with the evo i.s. wont be an issue (1g?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!?!?!?!?) so maybe ill update the list as i feel the need to remember a long lost app and redownload it.
It's easy to get caught in the excitement of a new device and/or other purchase. I too became the victim of setting unreal expectations and have a love hate relationship with my new XOOM.
Day 1: This thing is great!
Day 2: I am returning this thing tonight.
Day 3: Wow, this thing really does a lot of things very well.
Day 4: TBD
So what have I learned:
1.) DO NOT get consumed by everything you read on any forum or review site. Example: yesterday when I read a few threads about the possible video limitations I was immediately returning the device that evening. Then I took a breath, went home, converted a few videos and you know what...I was more than pleased with the results. Get Handbrake, adjust the settings properly and the videos look & sounds exceptional.
2.) The XOOM is a damn fine reader and web browser. Sure a few things are annoying and missing (Flash & User-Agent) but they are minor and there is a solution to get around these temporary limitations. The Kindle app, Pulse and Google Books are excellent. I waited for flash on my DroidX and I will wait for it here.
3.) Sure there are not many "Tablet" apps but you know what there are plenty of "Phone" apps that work just as well. Skype, PDF Readers, Mail, Maps, Twitter, Facebook, etc., etc., etc.. There is still a lot there. You can only have so many first choice apps anyway. I am pleased to use the apps that are available and will await the upgrades when the change to Android 3.0.
4.) This battery is AMAZING; at least for me. Three days now, after quite a bit of web browsing, watching a few movies, trying quite a few apps, etc., etc. The battery is still ~ 35%. I can only browse the web over wifi for maybe an hour before the batter is ready to roll over on my DroidX. This battery life has exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds.
5.) I could go on. Rather than taking a look at the shortcomings I am trying to take the opposite approach. This is a nice device and I find it especially exciting because if this is a rushed product I cannot wait to see what is coming in time. I have been in software development and product development for over 10 years and I have seen truly "rushed" projects...this may have been "pushed" but by my standards not "rushed". There is a lot to like here.
Anyway, take a breath and enjoy what this device does well; which is many things. Everyday, it seems to get a little better.

The User-Agent thing isn't the Xoom or Honeycomb's fault. Rather, it's websites that do not distinguish between the "Android" UAString and the "Android Mobile" UAString.
If it bothers you for a particular site, why not try brining it to the attention of the site's admin so they can fix it on their end?
Great post! And the battery life really is awesome (didn't quite expect that coming from an overclocked Droid 1, although being able to swap out batteries has made up for that)

Yes, I know about that already but it is a work around. The permanent "fix" is for websites to treat the "Android" UAString differently than they treat the "Android Mobile" UAString.
Good post. The initial shock is due to it being an unfinished product. The potential is definitely there. They gave promises and then didn't deliver on those but said i promise a little bit later. Having the devices we know the potential and will get to see it come to fruition. It's not "early adopter" it's unfinished retail product that we paid for later promises. They will come have to be patient, but we can surely ***** in the meantime
The hardware is capable, just need software finished to utilize it properly.
Once we start getting more honeycomb apps it will help quench our desire while waiting for system updates.

Not a problem. I just didn't want the idea perpetuated that this is a Xoom/Honeycomb problem.
Well it is, kind of. Google just made up a new user string (afaik) and now everyone expects that all webmasters jump into their cars to get to work to adjust the website for it...

Wrong. The user string just happens to say Android... as it should. Websites grab the word android and redirect to the mobile site.

For me there is really only one complaint, no Flash. I know most people say that you don't need it and it's really not that useful but PlayOn is an app that lets you stream Netflix and Hulu if you have Flash. So right now I could be watching Hulu and Netflix if only the Xoom had Flash. UGGG!

What are some advantages you guys think would be? I currently own an Evo so I'm familiar with Android. I'm more interested in knowing the cool things you can do with it. I found someone in CL who is interested in trading his Xoom for my iPad 2. Thanks.

Those of us who show our loyalty to google will be rewarded with land and women once the takeover is complete.
Additionally, flash is neat, USB hosting, I'm fairly siked about google music. Greater customization. I'd wait to see how 3.1 runs but it looks very promising in the dev notes.
you are not bound to itunes, you can customize your UI, your notifications wont interrupt you, its positioned to be compatible with a ****load of other devices, hdmi ready, amazon and sony love android

Is Google Body available for the Xoom? I'm interested in that. I'll still have my 1st gen iPad so I don't mind trading it in. Are their any cool things you can do with it like connecting bluetooth devices, etc?
One thing I hate about the iPad 2 is the camera. I took a picture of my daughter up close and it was so blurry I thought she was a UFO. I think it's rated at under 1MP.

I played with one at Best Buy but it was molested beyond recognition. There was so much stuff scattered all over the screen I didn't have the patience to look through it. I wanted input from someone who owns it and has played with it for over a month.
Are the apps catching up? What I mean by this is are there a lot of tablet apps out yet or just phone apps.

see, something you could have easily checked online Google Body is one of the "made for Honeycomb" apps. It was released along with the XOOM.

Plenty of tablet apps and "tegra HD" apps available.
Also, pretty much every app I've tried that didn't specify Honeycomb support worked anyways. the "HD" games are spectacular (youtube "pinball HD honeycomb" ... it's 2.99 USD (2.84 CDN haha) and it rocks.

I actually purchased the Ipad 2 and received it about 2 weeks ago. It took me less than a week to call Apple and request and return package. I then went into Best buy and purchased a Xoom.
Here are the reasons why:
- FLASH: I watch videos online all the time, and most of them are sites that use flash
- Being able to just download a mp3, an image, or even videos right from the browser and save it wherever I want to
- Being able to open the downloaded file with the app I want
- Being able to connect my Xoom to my PC at work and transfer whatever file I want
- Being able to customize my homescreen to my liking
- Notifications

Thanks. I'm going to pull the trigger and do the trade. I still have an iPad 1st gen so I can fall back on the apps I love like Netflix. Hopefully they hack other OS's on the Xoom like Linux. Thanks for all the positive responses from the few of you who weren't just looking to increase your post count.

In short, it's not quite a slick as the iPad 2 and there are nowhere near enough tablet specific apps, but imo the browser is better, it's more customizable, google maps is far better as is the multi-tasking. But you should know that HD videos will require re-encoding due to the Tegra2 chip and it's limitations.
I think the biggest reason you have already mentioned in your post.

I used to be an iPhone user (3GS and 4G).
I am sick of being told you should do things this way and if you don't , you are screwed.
Xoom and all other android device brings me "freedom" in what I OWN.
Specifically in terms of functions
0. Flash
1. You get much better camera (5mp back, 2mp front facing)
2. You have the rights to root it, install customized roms/themes
3. You can install third party apps freely.
4. You can flash kernels to overclock your CPU to 1.5Ghz while iPad 2 is stuck at 1G max
5. You have strong Dev community to create stuff. as long as there is a need. Apparently it requires certain level of computer proficiency but from what you mentioned, you definitely have it.
6. You have google rolling out more and more exciting updates and with an open source concept, the market share of Android will bypass iOS by much and developer community will definitely notice this part of the market and create apps (commercial apps) around it.
7. many apps you know what is going on because you can see source code.
8. To someone who may worry that iPad apps are more than Honeycomb apps, I think at the current rate of brining new apps to platform, it wont be a problem a few months later at all.
9. Oh, you can install and dual boot Ubuntu in it.

if you consider showing off how android is better and more useful than iOS to Apple fans as preaching or ministry (honestly its not far off!!), then yes I do!
Haven't worked on it much lately, but I started writing a tablet optimized Bible app when I first got the Transformer. At the time there wasn't really anything available that took advantage of the tablet real estate. Search Bible by bedoig in the market.
I haven't looked for good tablet bible apps in a long time. I'd be interested what people are using these days as well.

Logos has an app that allows me to access my Logos collection from the tablet.
If one does not have Logos (ridiculously expensive! I bought it in seminary many many years ago.) then a good and more affordable alternative is Olive Tree:
I use Kingston office of the stock reader to view the sermon while preaching saving many trees....

Unfortunately there are not many ministry app available for the transformer. I use Bible from "YouVersion" because it allows you to acces multiple versions of the bible and save many of them on the transformer for offline use. It looks pretty good on the tablet as well. The bad part is there is no real way to save notes along with scripture, or to jump to pre-determined passages (bookmarked passages). Its been awhile since i've looked at ministry apps. As much as i love my transformer and how powerful it is, ive honestly been considering the ipad 3 when it drops simply because of the developer community and the apps it has available. i really dont want to though.

I have also been considering the iPad 3 but as you said I really don't want to. My son has an iPad2 and he is using it in ministry and currently using it while preaching or teaching. I have not gotten that comfortable with my TF but I would like to use it more effectively in ministry.
It's not sounding like much has changed since the last time I looked. I like YouVersion on my phone but found it lacking on a tablet. I've looked at Logos and Olivetree in the past as well but they weren't really what I was looking for.
The main reason I started working on one was to have a built in notes pane alongside the bible. I also added scripture identification within the notes to automatically create hyperlinks that open that section of the bible when clicked. I'm not a minister so I was more focused on the note taking scenario, but several ministers have told me they have found it useful.
Might just have to start working on it again since it doesn't seem like the options have improved much.

I spend a lot of time at my laptop for work, the dropbox app has been great for syncing my documents between my laptop and my transformer.
I type my messages in Word or Kingston Office/Quickoffice Pro HD. Once they are finished I'll format them for my tablet (increasing font size, changing the margins, bold, highlight, change color and ensure that each page looks appropriate) and then save as a pdf.
There are some excellent pdf viewers out there, but I simply open my messages up with the Kindle app when I'm teaching/preaching. I prefer the swype or tap to navigate vice any scrolling.
I use Cloudprint to print from my tablet when necessary. I used to have a paper copy of my message as a backup just in case something... ahem... went wrong. However, now I just keep my Bible with me and I can pull off a sermon or teach from a prior study in an emergency.
I've added folders to my tablet to keep finished sermons/lessons by using ES File Explorer app (allows folders & shortcuts).
I've changed some of the icons out using ADW Launcher Ex to pretty things up a bit and further customize.
It's quite fun actually. We've got a good sized church 700 folks, so our platform is filled with iPads each service. I'm one of the few with a non iPad tablet but I'm certainly not complaining. LOL!

I do not preach often, but do enjoy OliveTree for my main Bible app. Great for Bible studies as it can have a synced comentary right on screen at the same time as the Bible. Very helpful when someone asks a question about a more elusive verse.
I used a mindmap in the Thinking Space app to preach a sermon when i left my hard copy at home. Went well and no-one noticed.
I only take my Tab to meetings and use calendars and Thinking Space to record notes or decisions.

Also finding that i am leaving the notebook at home and taking the tablet. Just seem to be transitioning to a new mode.
I have orders of service and planning material in a dropbox that i share with a music and worship group. When near wifi it syncs to tablet. Thinking of implementing wifi in church facilities.
I am using more ad more ebooks and also working towards a paperless office. I am scanning articles and important sections of books and having them available with me. It is greatvfir reading/preparing on public transport or while waiting somewhere.
At the home office I can use tablet to read ebooks or pdf docs like a second screen as I prepare oos or sermon.
I am also a psychologist and have a folder for each client. Test and reports are at hand where-ever I am. Have used it when doctors call to check details.
I have parish directory in word format and in dropbox. I can quickly find an address when on the road and have used googlemaps to find my way. Also fiund that i can tap a phone number on my phone and instantly dial.

There is an app called cam scanner, great at scanning in docs, pictures, whiteboard sessions, etc. and also syncs with dropbox.

The best app that I have found is one called Mysword. It has numerous bible translations, commentaries, notes, dictionaries, and a huge community that is constantly releasing additional add-ons.
ezPDF might be helpful if you have PDFs of the books/book you need for the things you preach. You can even leave notes on the margin in ezPDF - that might be usefull. (And the post with dinosaur was really funny. )
Personally I would think the usual web/office needs would apply to preaching as much as anything similar; my pastor still uses paper. For bible+notes, I would rather think a Kindle version of your favoured translation would be the best bet. You get stuff for navigation the way a dedicated app could offer, along with the ability at marking and noting stuff that only a PDF file or dedicated bible reader might be able to offer. What would be lacking is the ability to cross reference other translations and sources easily or go straight to specific verses by number. For other books and stuff it should work fine and be less trouble than semi-illegally OCR'ing stuff, when whatever book you're interested in is available in the Kindle market.
As a Christian, I think you folks need to lighten up. Even GOD has a sense of humour, if you know HIM then you know that. If I was one of the people you should be reaching out to as a preacher instead of pushing away with behaviour like this: I'd look at this thread as a reason not to follow our saviour: he has too many people like you following him.

agree with my sword and yes i use my TF preaching and Teaching even using it in my Sunday school class to watch a video series....
e-sword modules can be converted to be used with my sword i have the
NIV--NKJV---AMP BIble
well i was using it until it died yesterday back to my good ole Leather Nelson Study bible until it returns to me...

This was helpful. I have converted to a pdf but I have not found the right font size or margins, etc. I'll keep trying.

Mysword is the android version of esword.
Sigh. Just had some disturbing problems with polaris office and I think this may be the straw that causes me to return the note before my date comes up on it. I just post this here in case other people are thinking about purchasing one or want to know its limitations.
I would preface this by saying I absolutely love this note, it works amazing, is fast, light, amazing build and am continually impressed by it. All the shortcomings are more of the android ecosystems issue.
So the issue, Ive been editing documents in Polaris office during meetings, and finally have noticed that polaris has been quietly corrupting my documents. Sure they look good, even edited. But when I open them in Word there are small but aggravating issues. The biggest is it breaks paragraphs, and I have no idea how to fix them in Word.
For example paragraphs st

I have found other people online and even on XDA complaining about this issue over a year ago, don't know if there is a solution but it doesnt seem like. I also wonder how I would get updates to Polaris (why isnt it in google play?).
Other problems include SNote not quite being up to par, and not being able to find a suitable replacement, although lecturenotes tries hard and may get there. Not being able to find a lot of high quality apps in other categories (e.g. childrens books/learning games). And it not playing nice enough with my groupwise/exchange appointments.
Darn I like this thing. But I keep thinking on the 26th Ill get an amazing SNote replacement (one note) with complete office integration, pluse my email will work fine. Oh and Ill be able to get unlimited learning games on an x86 tablet. Only downside the thing would probably only last 7-10 hours in battery life instead of the 2 days my notes been going. Hmmmmm

Get a different app and keep your Note. Samsung doesn't make Polaris.

None of the faux-Office products are great; on the Note or any other Android device. I do OK editing existing documents but the more complex ones (outlines, tables, charts, graphs) can be challenging. I pretty much don't use formatting when I'm creating a documents from scratch and import it in to Word as text and finish it off there. You sound like an excellent candidate for a W8 tablet. Speaking of which, MS has said (via Europe) Office for Android is due late this year via TechNet and early next year generally.
Before you send it back, try this app as it is supposed to resemble MS Word really well, there is a free trial if you give them your email and register your interest:

Return your Note 10.1, and wait for the Surface.
Another great app worth looking at is OfficeSuite Pro and remember that sNote should receive a very nice update with the JB release that I am hoping/expecting before month's end.
Wait for the 4.1 update and maybe it'll be resolved

If you want to wait on W8 that's all good but bring money. Getting the same level of performance as the SGN10.1 with pen input will cost you many hundreds more.
Don't get the Surface - it's junk with that silly soft keyboard. How the heck do you even use it on your lap? I guess it's called "Surface" because you have to have a flat surface to use it.
Returning a device you love because an app that's available for it sucks? That's ... an interesting decision. You know Samsung's decision to bundle Polaris Office doesn't mean you have to use it, do you?
Softmaker Office is a very popular alternative among XDA members. Last time I looked, they only had the word processor available on the Play store, not spreadsheets, presentations etc. You can probably get them from the developer's website.
There are also plenty of other alternatives. Kingsoft Office gets VERY good reviews on the play store - I'm tempted to try it just from the reviews. OfficeSuite Pro is also apparently good on a tablet.

And there are reports (take with grain of salt) that MS will be offering a version of Office Mobile for android.
I just did a round of budgeting at work on my Note 10.1 using OfficeSuite Pro and had no issues. Primarily Excel. No problems with formulas at all.

Thanks for all the tip. Installed OfficeSuit Pro, and Softmaker and QuickOffice pro. Softmaker worked the best, but none of them had the ability to input with the stylus (e.g. freehand draw) like polaris does. Polaris really sold me on this tablet, I mean sure, it doesnt have onenote, but who needs onenote when i can instantly open the doc from my dropbox, make the notes I need, and finalize when I get back to the office. But it doesnt really look like thats possible yet with polaris corrupting so many files. And if Im going to type out my nights, I have an amazing Lenovo Thinkpad X100e that blows any tablet out of the water for keyboard entry. I was really hoping for stylus support, but the apps just arent here yet, Ill look again on Jelly Bean update, seems like this stylus computer dream has been in waiting for sooo long.
Incidentally my 2 year old daughter really loves the tablet. shes been the one reason I've been wanting to keep it, all the touch games, shes been doing puzzles and books and learning her letters with it, quite amazing. Now I just have to decide what to get her, Nexus is pretty cheap, or there might be some used ipads kicking around with better app support (might as well get a toy to be used as a toy after all).
Samsung made an awesome piece of hardware here, all the talk about it feeling cheap is wrong, its slick, fast, small, light and just awesome to hold. Just wish it had some better app support. Soon hopefully.
Get 7Notes with mazec. It's an HWR keyboard you Can use almost everywhere.
Here's the thing MS has for years worked real hard to keep their office suite and word processing software proprietary and have been quite sucsessful at this. So any time you try to use a system that is not controled by MS with MS software you will find this problem to some extent. Whether it is a tablet, laptop or desktop. This is one of the reasons I refuse to use MS products, but that is me. What all this means to you is until you find a MS compatible tablet running MS software that MS has said is compatible with their office suite you will have these problems. On top of that there is (as yet) no evidence that a Windows tablet will be 100% compatible with all Windows software. In fact there are reports that there will be programs that would run on Win 7 that are not expected to run on Win 8.
My question to you is do you want the features of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.0 or do you want to give up those features and hope a MS Windows machine will fulfill your needs without compromises? I personally have never seen an OS or a computing device that did not have compromises.

It's coming...just like a lot of their Xbox live features made their way to the iOS ecosystem. Of course they denied their slip, it is just a few weeks until their new tablets become available. I am sure a big selling point of Surface and other Win 8 tabs will be the availability of MS Office products, if they did not deny the rumors; those who were going to switch from iOS and Android because of Office would have just stayed with their current devices instead of dropping $$$ on MS's new Hardware. MS is smart, they know they can penetrate other ecosystems with their products. They will just wait until the hype surrounding Windows 8 and Windows 8 RT dies down so that they can capitalize on hardware sales out of the gate.
Having said that, I dropped my PC and have moved on to just using the GN10.1. I am a freelance journalist, and I do all of my writing on the tablet. Polaris is good, but Office Suite Pro 6 is excellent. I have zero problems creating and editing pieces in .doc format. It just works.
Its back and I already miss it! lol
The microsoft atoms should be able to fill what I need, but I suspect they'll have their own problems. Still, samsungs making one with a keyboard dock and s-pen. Might be enticing.
The other office programs worked better, but they didnt have the ability to free draw on top of the document like polaris has. I want a tablet because in my many meetings, when someone is commenting or we are discussing a plan, I want to quickly mark it up. I can go back to my top to do the real work, but the thoughts I'd like to write, directly on the document in question. I can't do that in snote because my pc cant modify snote. And if I have to type it I'll just bring my netbook. Has anyone found an office program that works well with an ability to free draw? I bought a few last night but couldnt find one.
I may get a note 10.1 again in a couple months, who knows the app I need might be in development
