Flash Radio from CWM/Magldr? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

If possible, how would I go about flashing a different radio from android on HD2 from the current 2.15.50.14.
Do I flash radio ROM from CWM/Magldr?
Google is not returning relevant results.
I need to improve my analog fm tuner reception.

You don't flash a new radio using CWR. You will have to flash it using a custom RUU. Boot the phone
into the bootloader screen (red, green, blue screen) by holding the volume down key while you power on the phone. Hook your phone up to your computer Then run the custom RUU file.

I tried that but the phone got stuck on the HTC logo.
I had to restore back with LEOIMG.nbh.
Do you mean I need to flash the radio first then install android?
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App

No, you can flash a new radio with Android on it. I've done it before. Hmm, that's weird that it gets hung up on the HTC screen.

Thank for helping out Egrier. Maybe I flashed an incompatible radio. I will try a different one another time.
Cheers mate

Not that kind of radio, the radio rom has no bearing on the quality (or more accurately the lack of quality!) Of the hd2s fm radio. Its rubbish, really really rubbish, end of.

Thanks for saving me the trouble samsamuel. My hurt is double. I bought two HD2's @ retail. Cannot revive it. I hope the Desire S has good FM reception.
The HTC Aria i bought from ebay china has excellent reception.

You will get no sensible replies to your request.
You have given us nothing to go on. NAND/SD build? Have you deleted any system files/folders? Have you turned on silent mode?
There are just too many potential causes to try and diagnose your problem via this forum if you can't provide more detail than you have.
It will be quicker for you to just reflash whatever it is that you flashed in the first place and try again.
Alright pimping i reflashed it and nothing is happening and that should of fixed it. I just got this phone 15 days ago. I dont get it.

And i dont know if its a sd build but i flashed it using active sync and i think that goes off tge phone memory

Also just recently the sound went in and out for a sexond when i started up angry birds please help and when i flashed it to win mobile 6.5 rom 3.14 the sounded still didnt work. Please help

If you've tried different Android ROMs and then tried a WM6.5 ROM and it still doesn't work then it's a hardware issue. Flashing a ROM means that no software issue can carry over into the newly installed ROM, so it's not software.
If you bought it new then get it replaced/fixed under warranty (if not too old). If you bought it 2nd hand then I hope you've got either an understanding seller or a bit of cash to get it fixed.
The fact that it worked briefly, once, suggests a loose connection. One thing to check is whether or not you get audio when you use earphone/headphones. If you do then the ear piece is definitely knackered.

[Q] signal weirdness

Ever since installing android I've been having signal issues. Sometimes ill just lose signal for like. 30seconds then it will all be fine. Or other times ill have full bars 3G but yet the notification bar and lockscreen say no service and because it says no service my cell stand by is height battery even though there's signal. And this happened on different Roms and I have the latest radio.
What can I do?
This is a known issue. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like it's a big deal to the developers. I've seen a couple threads posted here in the general section about it but have never seen anything where a dev has addressed the problem. Who knows, maybe they are just working on it behind the scenes.

get a customruu.exe from roms or builds and put it in the same folder as leo_radio_15.40.50.07u_2.12.50.02_2.nbh then click customruu.exe.
If you don't have a copy of customruu.exe then search button or google will help you.

Well, i used 2 have such issues before so here's what i did....Upgraded to d latest radio & then went into Settings > Mobile networks, i then changed network connection from "Auto" to "GSM only"...That stabilized my network, i still get great data speeds so i'm gud....
Most times its not a problem of the build, its more lyk your location (cell towers) and the phone trying to give you a better network by switching between GSM & WCDMA connections...
P.S. Try using GSM or WCDMA only mode n see which works best for you.
Wow that also worked i put my connection to run 2g and wifi and it shot me straight up to 4 bars

You know that signal bar shows 3.5g>3g>2g? So if you choose auto it shows 3.5g first, if ever possible, then so on and so forth. So even if you have 4bars 2g then 1bar 3g, it will show 1bar on the signal bar.

FM Radio Function

Hello Everyone,
I have search the Atrix forum and have not found anything about the FM radio function.
Has anyone been able to enable it? I know it is not a high priority action.
Thanks for any info on this.

It's not currently enabled. with the Nexus One, Cyanogen had an updated ROM to enable the Tuner. I think one of the droids had an update to turn the tuner on. This is quite probable. Companies like Motorolla can sometimes spread revenue over multiple quarters by doing things like enabling new functionality down the road
I tried a Droid x hack for the FM radio.
It behaves as if it will tune..detects the headphones etc..even the volume control works and shows it is FM volume.
I am no where close to some of the experts on this site..but it looks like an easy hack..I hope someone else can take a quick look at this..
I know it not high priority..any insight or direction would be nice

From what I remember from the Nexus One FM radio, a kernel change had to be made. Not sure if that applies here or not. I would note that the Bell Atrix seemed to have a TV/Radio app (on a screenshot I saw). Now, whether this is an actual FM radio and not via streamed data, who knows. Just something to look into.

FM Radio in Orange UK Spec
Orange UK has the Atrix listed as having "FM radio RDS",
http://shop.orange.co.uk/mobile-phones/motorola-atrix;jsessionid=DZDVNQNfZ572n66rRcnTgJLKnz1Ncr12nRhyv52Z92qwyr9g9rHL!-1117014923
Its also listed in the paper catalogue as having this feature. Mine (purchased 13th May) doesn't have this enabled, from what I can see, but hopefully this means an update is due soon with this feature turned on.
My friend has a Defy, and it has CMP (Connected Music Player) its basically tunewiki but its the phones standard music player, in the main menus it has the option for FM Radio. Im guessing they are cooking up a version to work for the Atrix. I mean they should if the Defy has it why wont their Flagship device ATM. The Atrix is Motorola's Flagship device ATM right?
There was a hacked version of CMP out there, but the FM tuner did not work. I believe either AT&T disabled the feature so you have to pay for their radio app, or CMP was not quite finished for the Atrix. Maybe it will be included in a future update?
In any event I am also willing to DONATE to any dev who can get it working.
Bell one is an webased apl for the radio and tv, does not use hardware fm

This thread should be placed in the development section.
You will likely receive better feedback there.

PS: I tried CM9 b2 and found the camera too buggy (preview and focus issues)

Turn on Bluetooth manually before starting Spirit.
CM9 has a strange way of dealing with Bluetooth on many devices. Bluetooth is always running, and turning the BT switch on or off only makes it look to Android like it's in the selected state.
