Hi,
My quest for a stable (i.e. no SOD) rom could be (touching wood) over. I have been running MIUI 1.8.5 for 1 day with no issue so far (and pretty intesive usage).
The only thing I am missing is the tun.ko support. I don't think this has been compiled into the kernel or that it is available as a module.
Any ideas? Should I use a different kernel? If yes, which one is compatible with this ROM?
Thanks!!
C.

That is what I am looking for, right now I am using an Energy ROM, and a skinnyEVO build right now, have not tested to see how long the battery will last starting at fully charged yet, hopefully I get a full days use, I have background data turned off, brightness turned off, wifi etc...any suggestions on ROM + build combo's that anyone else is using that has a high battery life?

This one is very good for a clean build. It is based on Stock + Cyanogen. Try either 11182010v4 or 11192010v4
[Everyday Builds][latest linux_on_wince_htc][PPP] CM6.1+
I use to use that exact combination. I had the latest energy rom plus skinnyEVO too, 1.7 was a great build! However it's been awhile since he updated the build and the newer hastarin kernels are a pain to set up(since you need to replace libs and camera drivers and such) so I've switched combo:
VBNROM *Reloaded 2* + [Core Droid V0.8]
VNDROM loads faster than the energy rom I was using(and I believe it uses less memory), so I switched to that. and I know Core Droid isn't non-sense, but I get better battery life with it(with new hastarin kernels) than I did on skinnyEVO AND it has the g-sensor fix so now more ts freeze.

Does the Core Droid have Kernel 8.5.1 built into it? That is the only thing I have not learned how to do is install Kernel's, i'll try the ROM that you are using, I have Core Droid Build on my desktop right now, but it seemed to drain my battery fast as well.
I would try biff mod from 1 dec. His roms are very stable and they are uptodate. With the 8.5.1 kernel.
is there a custom firmware similar with stock one with no modification and has live wallpapers ?
Wildpuzzle is the closest to what you are looking for. It has all the features of stock and has support for LWPs.
but is it stable ?does it have bugs ?
Of course it is stable. I have used it before switching to CM7, and had absolutely no complaints. As for known bugs, I dont think there is any. If you wish to use Wifi hotspot + OC support, get kernel 0055 from OLD Wildpuzzle thread.
I have recently been using Android NAND builds on my HD2, in particular the RCMix3D build that I have found particularly to my liking.
However, I have also bought an Motorola Xoom WiFi and wanted to use this with the HD2 WiFi hotspot. I now find that this will not work at all on gingerbread build based Roms .
If I need to downgrade to a Froyo Rom can anyone recommend a good one. Most of those available seem to be falling into disuse.
I would like a Sense Rom, and one that is stable for everyday use, no fancy tweaks. Just want a phone that works.
Or would I be better going back to a Win6.5 setup with an Android SD based Rom?
Many thanks for any guidance you can give.
I'm using MIUI 2.1.20 from miuiandroid.com which is based on GB 2. 3. 7, and dorimanx 3.9 kernel. With this combination I can use the hd2 WiFi hotspot function perfectly.
Other MIUI builds have this functionality too I believe.
I used to use a sense Rom and had to use a 3rd party app to enable WiFi hotspot, it didn't function natively.
Peace

So far , I've tried out tytung's NexusHD2 ICS Rom (incredibly bad experience) and a few others , but I haven't seen any completely functional 4.x ROMs for the HD2.Most of them have a lot of bugs and I can't use Viber with them because the phone application crashes when I pick up the phone. So my question is this - is there any ROM based on 4.x that can match a 2.3 ROM in terms of performance and stability ?
I've been searching the forums for an answer but so far I haven't found one.I would be very grateful if someone could just point it out for me.
As far as I know, almost all HD2 ICS ROMs are fully functional (except for viber, it's a known issue).
And if you're having so many problems with tytung's ROMs, I don't know what else to recommend. (Not that this is the best, this is just the least buggy)
I have been using the SlimRom 8.0 on my HD2 since it came out and I have had the smoothest post-GingerBread experience with my phone.
Try it, I don't know about Viber because I don't use it.
I'm running it NativeSD on CLK with Extended TWRP.

Which is the best ROM available? coz ive tried CM09 Nightly, Fusion Xperia, MIUI But all these seems to have problems! they get stuck after you use them for few days! any other ROMs???
I've been trying some ROMs on my L5 E610 and I so far my favorites are:
Unofficial CyanogenMod 10.2 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2385111
Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2519448
The first one (10.2) may reduce the battery a little bit, but it is pretty much fully functional.
The second one (11) is still under heavy development... it is usable but you may encounter some bugs.
One common problem is the lack of FM Radio (in fact, this problem seems to traverse all the non-original ROMs).
The best rom available today is cm11 by pecanCM
