Froyo with no sense UI BUILD? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

That is what I am looking for, right now I am using an Energy ROM, and a skinnyEVO build right now, have not tested to see how long the battery will last starting at fully charged yet, hopefully I get a full days use, I have background data turned off, brightness turned off, wifi etc...any suggestions on ROM + build combo's that anyone else is using that has a high battery life?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

This one is very good for a clean build. It is based on Stock + Cyanogen. Try either 11182010v4 or 11192010v4
[Everyday Builds][latest linux_on_wince_htc][PPP] CM6.1+

I use to use that exact combination. I had the latest energy rom plus skinnyEVO too, 1.7 was a great build! However it's been awhile since he updated the build and the newer hastarin kernels are a pain to set up(since you need to replace libs and camera drivers and such) so I've switched combo:
VBNROM *Reloaded 2* + [Core Droid V0.8]
VNDROM loads faster than the energy rom I was using(and I believe it uses less memory), so I switched to that. and I know Core Droid isn't non-sense, but I get better battery life with it(with new hastarin kernels) than I did on skinnyEVO AND it has the g-sensor fix so now more ts freeze.

Does the Core Droid have Kernel 8.5.1 built into it? That is the only thing I have not learned how to do is install Kernel's, i'll try the ROM that you are using, I have Core Droid Build on my desktop right now, but it seemed to drain my battery fast as well.

I would try biff mod from 1 dec. His roms are very stable and they are uptodate. With the 8.5.1 kernel.

[Q] Which Android rom do you use?

Lets face it...MDJ isn't coming back anytime soon (If ever!) and frankly he has left quite a few people that use his ROMS in the cold.
So, in my unsuccessful quest to find a replacement ROM, does anyone have any suggestions on a Android NAND ROM as a replacement for MDJs Gingerbread CM7 Roms?
If its not listed in the POLL, just post below and I will add it.
Never tried gingerbread roms for real before so I wouldn't know sorry. However from my past experience with JDMS Ultimate Droid, I would recommend you trying crawlingcity's Ultimate Droid 3.1
The build i'm using now is gauner's desire z build. Just sticking to Froyo until enough apps get updated to gingerbread.
I would suggest Ultimate Droid 3.01.
Fast clean and reliable I have not encountered anything that does not work.
Fast boot time takes about 1 minute.
Cheers..
For me this rom is allmost close to perfect:
skink Clean Desire v1.2
Stable, fast and nice . I like Sense. Thank you

[Q] Stable Sense ROM

I want to use something different on my phone.
Now I have "TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.3.9".
Tomorrow I will try WindowsPhone7 but for me Android is better (and I can't live without "sms backup +")
What is the most stable rom with HTC Sense?
I don't mind about 2.0 or 3.0. I want something stable and fast and possibly without too much customizations.
Sorry for my bad english and thanks to all of you for your passion.
I'm praying a chef is reading this section and decides to make a proper stable Sense version again cause there is none left, period. It's terrible...
Your sign tells everything.
So I will try MIUI (which I already tried but is too slow) and then I will return to TyphooN.
i think Rafdroid Rom is really stable and fast.

+1 for Rafdroid Rom.
I'm using the SD version 4.2 in my EU HD2 for 2 week without ANY problem till now.

I am using this now, but have not been able to get anywhere near the speed that is shown in the OP of that thread, not sure if I am doing something wrong.
I'm trying to dualboot windows phone7 (720p :-Q________ ) and rafdroid on sd.
Finger crossed
Rafdroid is the most stable but major speed improvements have been made since, notably by imilka. Unfortunately he never finished his work...
its sems they are unstable if you play certain games on them, ive never had any issues with them so you cannot say every version has issues
Rafpigna's Sense ROM from sdcard is very very slow :-( but it's stable.
I will try Sense ROM and then I will switch back to a cyanogen.
can you tell me a fast and stable sd rom? Now i don't mind if it has sense or cyanogen. I need a usable rom because I want keep WindowsPhone7 and android
EDIT:
I followed this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-cUdB4_5f4
to dual boot
But Android says to insert a sd card!
Well, ALL imilka's builds are FC the same apps. I tried them all. So to me, it's a buggy work. A rom is to be considered stable when every function of the phone is working with decent speed and with all apps working. I would say that 75 % of my games are FC when they all run fine on other ROMS. Even Earth is FC !
The problem is that most of the 3.0 Sense Roms are using imilka's method as a base so they do have those persistent FC on top of their usual bugs.
Let's face it : development for the HD2 is dying and Sense Roms are the best example to prove it.
We still have CM and MIUI fortunately.

Are CM and MIUI fast from sdcard? Or I must install them in nand and say goodbye to windows's 720p camera? (TyphooN CyanogenMod in nand is perfect except for the camera, like all others android rom)
I hope you can understand my english
Well WP7 does have 720p recording but the Camera makes greenish pictures with the flash. To me, good pictures are always better than 720p...
Sure, good colors are better than just more pixel. But for me, the camera seems do a excellent job

[Q] Switching Roms

*Originally posted elsewhere and got no response*
Hi Chaps, I'm considering switching builds to the current Typhoon nand rom, I'm currently on the old M-DeeJay nand Rom for those of you with long memories, and for the most part it's been very stable. Unfortunately just recently I've been having issues and have decided to have a fresh install.
Reading through the last 60 pages or so of the typhoon rom, it seems like the ROM has become somewhat unstable with the latest versions, with data dropping out, batteries being drained etc
I've experienced no real issues like this with my current Rom (no issues that I can't solve), are these real problems for typhoons rom at the minute that I should wait to see fixed, or is it a case of user error and I'm fine to go for it?
I've never used cwm, so haven't flashed nightlies, I prefer to find a Rom that works and stick with it rather than risk screwing up my phone
Also - just how improved are current roms over ones that were cooked up around christmas time?
The other ROM I considered was the Dorimanx one, it seems to be just a little too tweaked for my liking
current cm7 roms have android 2.3.5 base. instead of them you can use roms with android 2.3.4 base (which are stable).i typhoon rom op there are old rom download links.i'm not sure but version 3.4.1 is said to be very stable.
best stable rom i ever tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060
and fast ...
thanks chaps - now running typhoon 3.4.1
best rom with sense is Android 2.2.1 Sense 2.0 NAND Firmware (based on stock Desire HD RUU Ace 1.84) by Mikhei777
I cant speak for non Tmobile HD2 devices. But for the TMobile version this ROM is the fastest, cleanest, and most stable I have used. I have been using it for almost a year. So far have not run into any issues especially once I switched to the CLK version. [OCT16] AmeriCanAndroid AOSP HD2 GB2.3.7 CM7 | bk2sdext [KERNEL:ACA823]

Amazing kernel with good battery drain

I am using Typhoon CM7 ROM, 3.7.6. The original kernel is Tytung14. It is good but not many options (like CPU governer) to play with. Later, I played with Dorimanx kernel for several versions. Version 3.3 is good. After that, 3.4 to 3.9 was unstable and not suitable for daily use. However, the 4.0 is good and fast again.
Recently, I noticed a kernel created by Seadersn. The version I found was seader_R9, which is the original kernel of Hyperdroid ROM AGAIN. The hyperdroid used another 2.6.35 line in the previous version but switched back to seader kernel in the latest ROM. I flashed the seadersn kernel to use with the Typhoon ROM. I must say it is really stable and battery saving. I know it is an old kernel but I like its efficiency and stability.

Hi all,
This is the discussion thread of our Galaxy 3 ROMs. Including Froyo, Gingerbread & ICS. Ups & Downs in every ROM, Suggestions to the Dev, Problems facing & their solutions etc.
Your opinion counts which will help in evolution of custom ROMs. Of course, It all depends on your personal preferences. But still...
Some ROMs notable alphabetically...
Cynogenmod Port (Marcellusbe)
Dutchmods
ICS for G3
Kyora ROM
Kyrillos ROM
Purumod ROM
Sekhy ROM
Vivek's ROM
A Note: Please do not hurt personally anybody.
Thanks in advance,
Sekhar
MOD Message:
This thread has been created for open discussions about ROMs and their features and to share your opinions only - NOT TO IMPOSE YOUR OPINION. I will keep a strict watch on this one!
Thanks, thread stuck.. maybe an idea to list the roms as well..
I like the ICS UI better than any laucher ones
For GB : CM7 is the best
For Froyo (JPU) : Kyorarom 5.2 with G3Mod 2.3 kernel non-oc (flash manually the kernel) -> very stable, ultra fast, and, for my dad, the most battery efficient Rom (5-6 days per charge and 1 week if you use nothing).
Im a freshman in flashing roms, im doing this for about 2 months now. And i can say that
Cynogenmod Port is the best for our Galaxy 3, of course Kyrillos Rom based on CM7-A7 will stand next to the first one. Although on Cynogenmod Port (Marcellusbe) we dont have full bluetooth function and camera is black/white, but its very stable.
Hmmm..Tough Question!
I have tried Kyorarom and Kyrillos and I find Kyrillos v9.5 better than Kyorarom 0.5.2,both in case of battery backup and performance Kyrillos exceeds Kyorarom.
Kyorarom needs to be refined a little and everything will be fine, coz am having lag problems on it.
Still got to try Sekhy's and DutchMod. I am having download problems as of now so will try both the ROMs and report soon.

Have tried and did not pass Boot Loop in the following ROMs
1. Kyora ROM
2. Kyrillos ROM
Used Vivek's ROM for 2 days and it was fantastic, but the data usage while roaming drained me completely..but one of the best for G3.
Currently use CM but CM needs to be tweaked continuously for better battery and results. The features that CM 7.1 has is great. All working fine
Have tried CM 6.2 too and was happy.
The only ROM to beat CM on features is WIUI, but WIUI does not support G3 currently
Hope this helps!
Well, I have tried plenty of ROMs for G3 (from the latest e.g. Kyorarom v0.5.2, Kyrillos 9.5, CM 6.2...) but all of them beats CM 7.1 modded by Kyrillos - GWK74.
It´s fast as hell, stable, pretty good battery backup (3 days of moderate usage).
The only thing I miss are video codecs for avi format, which were in froyo ROMs.
And another suggestion it would be great if Fugumod Ultra kernel would support Gingerbread ROMs...don´t know if it´s possible, but it´s performance in froyo is epic
Tried many ROMs but i find the Kyrillos version of cm7 the best....
On a serious note, i think the stock JPU ROM is insanely smooth and fast I'm using it right now and app opening times, scrolling etc. are really fast and smooth. Battery backup is also awesome compared to Kyrillos' ROM V 9.5 where the battery lasted 1 day of heavy usage then 1 day of hardly any usage because i was scared to waste the battery half the way through the day in case i got any important phone calls.
In my Opinion the cm7 port is the best not only cause you can change your design via cm7 but also performance and battery is very good here, had kyrollos before but yeah i wanted something new and with cm7 port i have much mor fun with my phone
ICS
As long as you don't need bluetooth and camera badly, i actually think ICS is pretty amazing. It's good enough for daily use now at least, almost at CM7 level.
My opinion =
For daily usage: Stock rom (I recommend XXJPS or DDJP4)
Need for speed? : Kyorarom , Kyrillos' rom
Classic rom : Vivek's rom or Purumod
For showing off: CM7, ICS, AOSP original ginger port by marcel

Hi Sekhar,
Could you add the link to each of these ROM threads - and have a comparison [a fair one] for the benefit of the community?
I've not tried Purumod, Sekhy etc..
And what is the funda is installing a ROM from earlier version?
For Instance, Your ROm suggests that the earlier version be installed first..I'm foxed here

Sekhys ROM for Gb is fantastic. Nice user experience and great display for normal use.
But Videos are Laggy and other than mp4 formats dont play..
Bloatware IMO is avast and Battery XL Both can be removed by force closing the apps and uninstalling them in applications
Like Kyrillos' v9.5 most. Of course I didn't like battery life with 'default' g3mod kernels especially when I was using 2g/3g internet connection so I flashed Astrum v 1.0 from moikop and now everything works like a charm ;-)

Same here, hope K 10. will get rid of battery drain prob.
...tried Kyrillos' 10 Beta 1 over the weekend and performance and battery drain is really ok.
of course there are still some probs as the black/white preview when taking pictures with camera and didn't get bluetooth connection to send/receive some files; but as pictures are taken in colour (seen when accessed on sdcard) and files can also send by wireless (f.e. airdroid) or usb connection (cable) i can live with it. also having data2sd with link2sd (s2e didn't work properly for me; corrupted my sdcard)
perhaps i'll flash K 10 beta2 end of next week?!

ROM: Kyrillos' ROM v10 Beta1 GWK74

none of you tryed DM? I like to hear some feedback for improvements
