Nexus S in Space - Nexus S General

Greetings from the Infuse/Atrix part of the forums!
Thought this was pretty cool. First smartphone to space?

Can't say this isn't cool. Nexus one just became that much more awesome

Yep glad I've owned my nexus one since day 1.

It says Nexus One in the article, but Im pretty sure they used Nexus S's. That's what all other papers have been saying, and Samsung's mentioned working with Google a paragraph down. Anywho, still pretty cool.

They used both. They have pictures aswell with the nexus one being used.

God, i hope NASA aren't relying on the flaky Nexus One screen for doing mission critical tasks The next loud noise you'd hear would be the international space station prematurely re-entering the atmosphere!

lol, that is what I was thinking.

Soon to be nexus s owner..

As the title implies, I will be acquiring a nexus s soon. I currently have an epic 4g I'm trading even to this girl that hates touchscreens lol
Anywho, I love my epic. I'm sure ill love the nexus s also. I was hoping to get some input as to where this community is at the developing stage. What some of you guys are most excited about, and what kind of performance and experience you guys are getting from your modded nexus'.
Cheers!

Welcome buddy. Pretty much the development is great. Just about every rom here is straight aosp and has no issues lol. Just make sure u read before flashing because not all roms are nexus s and nexus s 4g compatible.

I was wondering about that lol. I noticed there are 2 development forums now for both the GSM and cdma versions so it should be relatively easy. I just have to translate what I know from the epic to the ns4g as I'm sure they're somewhat similar when it comes to flashing them.

I doubt I will lol like I said I love this phone. The keyboard is awesome. But I'd rather give it up for a thinner phone I can put a case on and it won't feel like my old HTC tytn2. Also I'm sure the ns4g will be getting ice cream sandwich relatively quick. Also, where's cyonogen mod at with cm7 on the ns4g?
sent from the Galaxy S Pro
Cm7 is at nightly 95 for the past few days. Someone hacked something. I forget what but hasn't got anew nightly. However it's very stable.

CM7 is super stable and is at a code freeze so only small bug fixes are being made. The website for the Linux kernel source was hacked and until that has been verified no files were harmed no new nightlies can be compiled. Nightly 95 is the latest and is awesome.

So you are getting it good I love mine been developing for it the day I bought it and its much more stable modded than galaxy phones when you begin hacking away at it.

Memory is 512mb. Some of that 512 is allocated to the GPU for performance.
GPS works fine for me on CM7 nightly 95

Are you sure its the GPS that has issues or is it the compass? There is a known issue with the compass on the Nexus S. Not sure when it'll be addressed, but Samsung/Google are definitely aware.

In another words ..... having a nexus one NOW means .... G.P.S = Get Pubic Satisfaction
So while in europe we are in a financial crisis, and in the U.S. They have enough money left to shoot phones into space... This is either completely fake, or nasa people are really bored. Why would nasa should a tired old phone into space? Better
A GALAXY nexus, that already has the right name

I have used Vibrant and IMHO its a piece of crap compared to Nexus but i was using stock rom .Nexus S is much better IMHO.There are so many roms that you can flash..Vibrant was really slow and touchwhiz sucked.

Vibrant better than Nexus...you are probaly the 1st to say that...lolz
This phone is awesome
I've had so many phones, just sold my HTC Raider LTE and bought this thing not knowing what it was like. The only thing I miss is HD video recording and the camera. Otherwise for a phone that isn't dual core, this puppy is fantastic. I unlocked the boot loader and rooted last night and things just got even better. I don't regret my decision 4 days in.

I love this phone too!
I've had this phone for 4 months now and let me just say that because of the devs here, my nexus s has been such an amazing device. It's pretty cool what this "old" phone can do with all the different ROM and kernel combinations available. I've gotten so much outta this guy it just blew my mind.
I've recently switched to a galaxy nexus but I just really wanted to say thanks and this seemed like an appropriate place to do it.
Thanks to awesome devs here can our lovely Nexus S easily beat lots of new smartphones with bazillion cores and tons of RAM.
Yes me too am still loving my NS that I bought at Xmas.
I'm not really interested in any other phone for the foreseeable future. I was looking at the Galaxy Nexus and thinking of purchasing one this Xmas if they drop really low, but I find the size of the NS absolutely perfect.
At the moment I'm very happy. Best phone I've ever bought.

My turn for one of these threads. Went and got me a Galaxy Nexus today. Unlocked and threw pure AOSP Android 4.1.1 on it. Everything functions, no bugs, no broken features. I couldn't be happier. A lot of you were really cool people, so bye and good luck with CM10.

Nah..Kenny got the GS3. That's all the proof I need.
Of course, the new Photon slider is intriguing; supposedly with an unlocked bootloader. But I hate Motoblur...

I have 40Gb+ of data on my SGS3, and that isnt counting apps.
32GB internal + 32GB external is easy to fill up, if you dont want to work your phone from the cloud for everything.
A limit of 32GB internal wouldnt cut it, IMO
