Best rom to play 3-d games on LG GT540 - GT540 Optimus General

witch one is the best ROM to play 3D games or the one with most compatibility

For compatibility I would say Swiftdroid RC4 or RC1, for performance I do not know

Change
Change the MINIMUM CPU frequency to 480mhz, it'll reduce lag.

Then flash enigma lol

GOOD TIP!
I'm looking forward to flashing Enigma after I get a new SD card. I currently have the stock 2GB one D:

What class you only need 256mb for swap maybe 512mb ext2
Its aslong as the read write speed is over 2mbps preferably 5mbps
I just ment low quality card's will produce low quality results with the softmod

I'm not sure about the class, it was provided with the phone. It doesn't even have the company name on the SD card :/ I don't have sufficient space for a good swap file or partition. Only music that I won't be able to live without. I'm getting a new one soon, hoping for a new one, since I'm only 13, I don't have the money to buy one myself :/

Fair enough mate although I know if you go to vodafone they have 16gig class 10cards for $40 that's where I got mine I thought was a good price and haven't fried it yet the Max speed I've got from it so far was 10.7mbps so has enough grunt to
Maybe a option to look at or 32gb cards are about 120 Christmas isn't far off or save and get the 16gb tell you're dad 5car washes for $50 or something lol

I must say offical 2.1 roms provides the best 3D performance.

Months
I haven't played on a Stock ROM for months O.O
CM7 has delivered awesome graphics. The stock has a lower frame rate and it lags a lot.
Note that this opinion has been based on one singular original ROM and shall not necessarily be implied to other 'Stock ROMs'

I agree some stock roms are better but lack alot in alot of other respects plus if we do get a kernel update at some point 2.3.5 is going to rain supreme full stop

Is it going to be 2.6.32 or 2.6.35?
I heard that kernel 2.6.35 and gingerbread helped improve graphics a lot.

Evo Shift Merge?

From what I know, the Shift is the Sprint Version of the HTC Merge(or the other way around). And, since there is no Merge forum I could find, I came here. Is it possible to oc the device to 1ghz? Or, is it like the G2, where 800mhz is enough? Also, does it happen to have 512 mb of ram and a ffc? If so, Im dumping my droid 2 for the merge(unlocked bootloader ftw!)
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA Premium App
you can overclock to 1.51 ghz with it rooted and it is very smooth and very fast i can say i had many applications in back ground and still managed to go on the web and it was very quick still and play games with no problem very smooth.
The shift can be oc to 1.8 my friend and the g2 can do 2.1
No ffc tho sorry
He's asking about the Merge, guys. It SHOULD be very similar to the Shift, but nobody knows for absolute certain until they can get their hands on it. For the record, the 800 Mhz processor did everything i asked of it and then some at stock speed, I only overclock it because I can

Anyone got their hands on an HTC Merge yet? Mines definitely great at 800 MHz, and there is nothing i have come across where i felt more clock speed would've been better, and that too on stock rom. This includes some of the heaviest games graphics-wise available on the market. But since its still not officially out, Im still running it on stock as I have no idea how to root it and load custom recovery. As soon as we get custom recovery on this it is a given the performance will increase a lot with custom roms.

Getting a G1

Hey guys, I bought a G1 on EBay for 78 bucks ( pretty cheap considering the device has regular wear and tear) and wanted to dominate the thing with awesome mods etc. Anyone know a nice stable and fast froyo build? If there is one with Sense I will take that as well and as a side note... is multi touch enabled on these roms? Multi touch like the Nexus S has?
Sent from my Xoom
If you want froyo, you should try out froyo by lazlo, if you want gingerbread, try cos-ds gingerbread
Sent from my HTC Dream using XDA App
Multitouch enabled on most custom roms, from 1.6 to current.
do also check on how to upgrade the spl and radio of the phone if it has not been upgraded, as this would give you extra 14mb of ram which is very precious for the g1. Links are at my sig
welcome to the g1 community and have fun flashing!
So what use is the radio for? Just some extra ram? Anyone got a link for a stable froyo or gingerbread build? Which ever is most stable I will take, if there is a version with Sense then I will take that. Also what's with this 32a and 32b stuff? Are there specific versions of roms? Cause that would kind of suck lol.

yes, with it you'll get around 110 of ram, which considered as a lot for g1, froyo, go for froyo by laszlo or froyofortrout or ezterry's official aosp ota.

the app might not be compatible with gingerbread, plus the original g1 received only up to 1.6 as the official update, but you can always try later on with your preferred custom rom. OC does improve, but personally, im not using it, the default is good enough for me, your needs might be diffrent.
angry bird is playable with this script, but it is not that smooth, but still playable . have not tried ninja, most of the 2d games work well so far. for good gaming experience, your nexus s would be much2 more better lol
hope it helps

Hmmm, would overclocling make the gaming experience any better? I mean I know that emulators work well because they were made on the G1, saw videos of people using it on a G1 as well. I am not going to have my Nexus S for a good week or two for repairs, so I need a device to substitute it.

I might just suggest using gingerbread in particular 'ginger yoshi'. I recently also purchased a G1/Dream off ebay and decided to mod it and just tonight loaded ginger yoshi 7.1.1 onto it (android 2.3.3) and it is working flawlessly, before gingerbread i was running froyo (cyanogenmod 6.1.0 magpie) but yoshi's build is so much more snappier.

just the same differences when you taste froyo and ginger.
Frodo is a character from Lord of the Rings while Ginger is a character from Gilligan's Island.
Gingerbread is optimized for Hummingbird CPU (SGS) while Froyo is optimized for Snapdragon CPU (N1)
I'm hoping some of the bluetooth quirks are solved.

Also, there seem to be few if any apps coming out requiring GB. That was not the case with Froyo - there were LOTS of changes to the API there and not being able to upgrade meant missing out on new apps. Nothing like that with GB so I don't mind sticking with Froyo for a bit of stability.

I honestly have to say I have try every single rom posted here in less then 2 months. For last I have seen lots of hype with Ginger CM7 and I went for it.
2 days pass and I downgraded again to Frojo 2.2 since I hated it that ginger, is buggy and there aint much I could do to get it popping like I can do with custom Frojo Roms.
So I will stick with Frojo until Ginger gets the support we have now for Frojo types.

There are lots of roms, and neither are the best. I beleive roms are NEVER stable. They always need to be modified, they always need to meet standards. No best ROM.. Period. But if I were to choose, MIUI would be the best LOOKING but not the best that's working.

So far I have used SRF, Reborn, ACS Bambozzled, ERA Viper, and I am currently using Simply AOSP. I have loved each Rom I have used, each have their quirks. Usually the GB runs give me a few headaches... like restoring with titanium screws up my app space, GPS is up and down, etc. I would recommend using an EC05 Rom until things are fully stable with GB (especially CM7 Selfkang), just to save yourself a few headaches.

I've only used a few. Stock, Viper (apocalypse, frozen, and synergy), and urban legend (fury and regen). I'm currently using Urban Regen 1.1.1, with Rodericks genocide 2.0 kernel. Lately, I try to stick with EC05 based ROMs and kernels for their stability and the number of options out there for EC05. I'm relatively new to rooting and flashing so i don't know everything there is to know about it, but I'm learning fast. I'm definitely not new to tech, holding a few IT certifications, a degree in CNT and presently in school working on another degree, so my knowledge of operating systems (especialy linux ) is helping me learn much faster. The best advice i can give you, is to read the forums, ask questions when you can't find an answer (no matter how stupid you think the question is) and to try a little of everything until you find what you like or learn how to do it yourself, lol. There are tons of guides, wikis, and awesome developers who are willing to help you as long as you try your best to help yourself as well. You'll get the occasional put down, or get called a noob, you'll make mistakes and feel dumb, but everyone does so don't worry about it. Just try to remember that pretty much any question you can think of, any problem you run into, and disaster you cause, has probably happened to someone else before and has probably been addressed more than twice on these forums, so do some searching before you just start posting "HELLLLLLP MEEEEEEE!!!" Another piece of advice i can give you, that i did with my first phone, is get a decent size and class sd, read a guide on how to dual boot ROMs (i think theres even an app now that does most of it for you!), root your phone, leave the stock ROM on your phone, flash a good kernel that supports dual booting (check out genocide 2.0). That way, you can try out new ROMs as much as you like and always be able to revert back to stock when you need some stability or if you run into bugs.
Good Luck!

I've been rocking SRF 1.2 for about 3 months now with the Twilight Zone 1.1.1 Kernel. Very stable, no force closes or reboots, GPS locks instantly, over a full day of battery life. I'd stick with EC05 ROMs until the official GB ROMs drop. I've tried a few of the leaked GB roms and none of them have been stable enough to be daily drivers.

Suggestions for my new play :)

Hi all,
I am perfectly happy with my nexus 4, but my friend is giving me his old xperia play which I am going to use as a gaming device.
I see there are several roms out there based on gb and ics and some even jb.
What is suggested to optimize xperia play for gaming only? gb, ics or jb?
I will be deleting any app that isn't neccessary to keep things nice and clean.
Was thinking about a swap partition on my sdhc card as well.
Haven't got the device yet but I am collecting firmwares, kernels and whatnot to have ready for when I receive it.
Let me know what you think?:good:

Great friend you have there =).
I am sure that someone more technical could fill you in on details on GB, ICS and JB stuff. I haven´t been following that at all.
Personally, I only use my XPlay only as an emulator gaming device. And I use ExtremeKernel combined with EliteGamer 2.0 000p (no camera).
I have around 300-310 MB´s of free RAM. And emulators for NES, SNES, GBA, Genesis and PSX runs perfectly fine. It´s amazing to relieve my old games that are stashed away in my wardrobe.
I haven´t even gotten to overclock the unit. I prefer my unit to live as long as possible.
The XPlay IS aged hardware. But the price and its very smooth design makes it easy just to pick it up and play.

I don't plan on using camera and video playback anyways, it's going to be purely a gaming device
Do I have to keep in mind that there are other versions of the xplay?
Sometimes I see R800i or R800x model name

R800i is the 3G GSM version of the Play.
R800x is the CDMA version of the Play.
R800a is the 3G GSM version of the Play (not often seen).
R800at is the 4G AT&T version of the Play.
Oh my, where did your friend pick up a play for 10 euros? I'm looking to get a second one to store in case something bad happens to mine...

My friend actually got it for 10 euros, which is about the price of 2 small cigarette packs ^^
EliteGamer is the rom right? Don't need camera lol.
Your rom+kernel setting seem to work for you, I might try those. Have to decide based on opinions:good:

That's the amount of RAM my ROM had earlier in development.
Now it's a bit less due to JIT tweaks but has faster app execution.
That was with the 480p kernel, had 320 with 000p

Well it was kind of a demo model in a store he works at, and they were selling phones and tablets at a really low price. But there are only 5 or so of each model.
Had my eyes on this one x too but I wasn't lucky enough to win it.
I guess you can search Ebay or maybe a native secondhand market?

didn't know there was a 4g version. Is that like an xperia play 2 with upgraded hardware?
I'm not sure which one I'll be getting then

No it's the exact same phone, just has 4G.
Sent from my R800i
I did, I found out some quite low prices but nothing even close to this. Do you know if there are any left, or was it a long time ago?
Anyway, my personal experience is that stock firmware, de-bloated and optimized with various little tweaks is the best.

He was asking for differences in the main hardware asking "Is this the Xperia Play 2?" sort of question, I don't think mentioning the radio comes into play on this part since he only wants to use the device for gaming.
And sorrt for the typo lol I just noticed it.

it was not a long time ago, but yeah there aren't any left. there were 5 of em or something, so they had to do like a lottery out of 30 people wanting the same device.
How much should I be paying for a new i800 these days?
