Hi friends, i use dell xcd35(renamed zte blade in india)
the device is Gen1. i tried to upgrade its ROM to CyanogenMod 7.0
same like this
i rooted my phone with z4root...installd rom manager...instal cwm flash recovery mod for zte blade.... Download cyanogenmod
7.0.0 (recommended for 2.1 users) .... .when
downloaded a menu will appear... .select
wipe data and cache.. ... and wipe delvik
cache... ..select backup existing rom(if you
want to backup) .... .and select ok.. ..select ok
again.... now a superuser command will
appear .... .select yes.. ..now phone will
boot into recovery mode.. ..
the problem is -my phone is not going into recovery mod
its just rebooting and starting up with a same android version
i tried rebooting into recovery by BladeBuddy app and its the same. and by using bladebuddy app when i reboot it into bootloader mod its just stuck in dell logo...i have to remove the battery to start it again
plz can u give me some solution for my problem

As your phone is gen1 you can install only gen1 roms. If you install gen2 roms you will have bootloop problems. Now download a gen1 rom and go to recovery, wipe everything and flash it.
The cm7 you installed is gen2. So to use it, you need to convert your phone from gen1 to gen2.

Doesn't the XCD usually come with Froyo and Gen 2 though?
Did you verify it was a Gen 1 phone with the Mr Pigfish app? If not verify it.
Also, CM 7.0 is a Gen 1 ROM IIRC. When you go into the bootloader mode it's supposed be on that Dell screen.
Try flash the appropriate recovery using Fastboot, see method 2 here.
It might take 24 hours for someone to reply to you so be patient next time.
No need for Pigfish, Blade Buddy which you have will tell you which Gen. (Blade Version button)
Also, you can use ROM Manager to flash latest ClockworkMod Recovery.......and reboot into Recovery
Also, you can use Quick Boot to get into Recovery, or Bootloader.
BTW, looking at this indicates Froyo 2.2, and this indicates Gen 2....
but as you say upgrade from 2.1, perhaps you have Gen 1??
yes buddy i've gen1 phone...confirmed by Mr. PigFish

I have not heard of one bricked Nexus. Just be sure you choose nexus s and not nexus s 4g

Just to post a follow-up: unlocked, rooted & flashed TSM Pool party ROM succesfully thanks to your excellent guide and tools on my fresh 9023 NS :] Thanks!
Where is the video how to unroot??
Well, I unrooted with this tool and got a bootloop after flashing the .img's. Any info about what to do now ?
[edit] I guess I need the stock .img's for 9023 GSM to flash in fastboot.
[edit2] Or no, I'll fastboot unlock it and flash CWM, then I can restore nandroid and lock it back to do the 2.3.6 OTA.
[edit3] Saved my system + updated to recent 2.3.6 OTA. Gonna post what I did, it might help someone. Device is i9023 EUR GSM
So after the unrooting bootloop, I just went to fastboot, did fastboot oem unlock.
Then I downloaded current CWM .img (name may vary) and did fastboot flash recovery 5023-cyan.img. So I could boot to CWM then and push the stock GRJ22 ROM .zip I downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063664.
Flashed it via CWM (this .zip clears CWM recovery and installs stock recovery), then only last thing to do is doing fastboot oem lock. When you reboot, you're on stock device.
Because the 2.3.6 OTA wasn't found in system update, I downloaded the incremental update here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278835), renamed it to update.zip, copied to the sdcard and powered the phone off.
Rebooted with vol up + power in fastboot menu, selected recovery, which ofcourse now put me to OEM recovery.
When seeing the yellow triangle, you need to push again vol up + power and just select apply update from sdcard and select update.zip.
The recovery then flashes the incremental update (make sure the device is in OEM lock and there's no root), after you press reboot. 2.3.6 glory :]
Hi,
a friend asked me to install CyanogenMod 7 on his ZTE blade after using it on my wildfire.
started by rooting using Universal AndRoot, went perfectly... superuser granted
then installed Rom Manager and clicked Flash Clockwork Mod, selected ZTE Blade, let it install, but i cannot boot into recovery.
the Clockwork version is somthing like 5.0.2.0 which i have read is not supported on a Gen1 device.
the phone still works so i have got time to find a perfect seolution
My question is:
If i install RecoveryManager to use "recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.6-blade.img" to change the clockwork version will this allow me to flash an older version of CWM?
will i then be able to boot into ClockworkMod and flash "update-cm-7.0.0-Blade-signed.zip" on the Gen1 ZTE Blade?
Thanks for all the help
Just use Rom manager to downgrade cwm, no need to carry out a restore.
sent using tapatalk
I have tried using the 'all clockworkmod versions' and selecting the version I want, the bar at the top is downloading, then it says 'error' something to do with privileged scripts or something.
Sorry I don't have the phone here at the moment, but will tomorrow.
I have checked superuser and root access ect, but all is working.
Any ideas
Thanks for your help
Fastboot is enabled in gen1 phones.
So just download a blade-gen1-recovery seperarely and flash the img file from fastboot. The fastboot command will be "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
As for the cm7 version u mentioned I don't know whether it is gen1 or gen2. But u can make ur stock rom nandroid backup and check the cm7 and if it is incompatible it wont boot.
And gen1 to gen2 firmware upgrade is needed for using gen2 roms.

Read that guide to convert to Gen2 and install ClockworkMod Recovery.
Hi,
thank you all for your replies, i have now read that CyanogenMod wiki info page you requested, very good infomation. will work on this when Clockwork is working.
as for FastBoot.... i have never used that on a ZTE before, pressing POWER and VOLUME DOWN does nothing but make the android logo flash and POWER and VOLUME UP and MENU does the exact same!
i am open to all advice and infomation, i am paranoid of bricking his phone
Thanks for all your help everyone!
just follow instructions
I have a ME860 with official 2.3.4 updated, i yesterday unlocked the Bootloader with IHOP_Bell.sbf and have CWM flashed successfully. But my phone booted into command line saying OS not detected and was stucked at the command line with 14modes available.
I got into Recovery and flashed to CM7(latest Bat2F.zip) and it completed without error. Now the command line says OS will Boot in 5 secs but is again stucked with Cold Boot Linux Reading ODM Fuse:1 displayed.
I am new to this can someone help me out here ? Thank you
Are you messing around with RSD at all?
Sent from my Atrix XDA Premium App
the only time i used RSD is to flash the IHOP_Bell.sbf to enable unlocking the bootloader. As for flashing the CWM i did tru the Fastboot command from the computer. After that I have never touch RSD at all.
the phone boots up showing unlocked on the top left of the screen. however what i found a bit strange was, right after i flashed the IHOP_bell.sbf, the phone always boots up in the bootloader mode. i thought it was normal that way, so from there i selected the fastboot mode and the phone did boot into fastboot. then i connect the USB cable and entered the fastboot oem unlock and successfully unlocked the phone.
after that, i flashed the CWM recovery mode using moto-fastboot flash recovery and it was done, and i am able to get into CWM recovery options too.
Actually i am thinking of flashing the HKTW fruitcake sbf, do u think it is a good idea ? or should i try something else first?
I wouldn't touch that. I personally never used that. I would wait till another user comments.
Sent from my Atrix XDA Premium App
i tried the fruitcake anyways, and it actually booted up !!
i took a look at the phone details. my phone is now MB860 instead of ME860 which i had b4. anyways there seems to be minor bug with this stock HKTW ROM cuz in the phone details , the version number has a userdebug name in it. so i guess thats way its not stable
will try to flash CM7 again
CM7 still not working, any ideas anyone ??

What CWM are you using? If it doesn't support ext4 that might be your problem. The things you've successfully flashed are all ext3.
Make sure you're using ROM Manager's or romracer's. Those are the only ones that support ext4.
Need to know what recovery you have installed & did you wipe data/factory rest & wipe both caches before flashing CM7????

thank you guys ! i was using this CWM recovery-en-goapk-0630-1029.zip

what shoul i do, i want to flash my phone into cm7,,, please help me,
In rom manager click on clockworkmod recovery , it should automatically flash a new cwm recovery

i already flashed my cwm, but cant boot to it. do we need a wifi in booting in cwm?
You might want to use fastboot, its fast and simple
Is your phone Gen 1 or Gen 2? If its Gen 1 and you flash a Gen 2 recovery (like the one ROM Manager will flash) then you can't boot into recovery until you flash a Gen 1 one. If you are Gen 1 and want to use CM7 then you will need to convert to Gen 2 first. You can do this by TPT which will also install the correct version of recovery. See wbaw's thread for how to do this.
please help me on how to use fastboot, havent seen one,
and additionala info,
my phone is a gen2, ive already asked mr pigfish.
You sure you rooted bro??
Can't use RM, can't use Terminal Emulator????
Check root with Root checker:

HI,
After manually trying to upgrade my TF300 into the latest version,
And trying troubleshoot it by myself, I can't access the recovery anymore.
It got stuck with no progress and I have to perform hard reset of my device.
Any idea how can I fix it?
Guys,
Any recommendations?
Thanks!

This is not enough information. Advise what state you were in before. Did you have recovery before? What update did you attempt? Are you on jb or ICS? Include versions when describing what you're working with when talking Roms, recovery, or other updates.

Hi,
Thank you for your answer.
I'm running root and unlock 10.4.2.9 ww version.
I'm using voodoo to keep my root rights, and cw 5.8.34 to access recovery.
Every time I'm trying to access recovery,
The tablet freeze right after choosing the RCK option.
I'm not sure what did I do that might have caused that.
Apparently, after removing some of the built in applications, I cannot simply upgrade my tablet to the latest version, so I had to try few workarounds, but it seems like I had few mistakes...
You could try to reinstall the recovery (which one were you using : twrp or cwm ?).
Best option is probably twrp2 (follow instructions at h t t p : / / teamw.in/project/twrp2/97).

I'm going to have to agree with this being the best option.
Wow,
After replacing the recovery as per your suggestion,
I can open the recovery and even upgrade the version into latest version (10.4.2.13).
Thank you very much!
