Hi,
I'm sorry if this has been asked before. I'm having problem with my bluetooth. I'm running android version 2.3.4 on SD (HD2 Leo). I've got no problem running it on wm.
Despite setting it to discoverable, I can't detect other devices or pairing with them neither can others find me. I can't use my bluetooth headset and whenever I want to receive files from another party, I would need to switch the phone back to WM so that I can receive via bluetooth transfer
Appreciate your kind advice. thanks!
You need to make your phone to be discovered. Setinngs. Wireless. Bluetooth settings.
to receive files from other phones you need to have FTP connection enabled, in sense it's easily done. in none-sense I haven't been able to make it work manually, but some apps like "bluetooth file transfer" do it conveniently.
try that out
it would be better if you pair with the device you want to receive files from, that means set the other device to discoverable, do a search for devices, then pair with that device. it's not mandatory, but since you might be connecting with several OSs this way is 100% working.
thank you for the replies
"bluetooth file transfer" really does the job! Without it, I can't even pair with another device. My laptop is able to search for the HD2 but can never make any connection with it.
yes that's common,
enable FTP in the app settings just in case it isn't.
if you're using a sense build/rom then it won't work.. the workaround is to connect your phone to the laptop your phone can search and see the laptop's bluetooth, and you can access shared folders on it through BT file transfer app
unfortunately i'm using a sense rom i will try that method of connecting it to the laptop. thanks!
I like sense better than anything else, so I can live with that small issue

Now I have been looking for 2 days on this forum, and I cant find it anywhere!!
Okay, I would like to be in my bed with my PDA, and surf the internet.
I dont have a Bluetooth dongle my self, by the guy next to me has. And I have permision to use his internet connection. (Less than 10 meters away, it about 3-4 meters).
So one problem is that I cant use the BT Active Sync, to surf the internet (I dont know if this is how it is done), like you can surf while the XdaII is in the cradel.
So I have been surfing around, and I think I need the WidComm BT stack to be able to surf the internet over BT. But how is this done. I have downloadet files, and read alot on this forum, but I cant seem to find any install guide those cab files and other thing to the PDA.
And then I have read about alot of users that has had problems with the WidComm stack, and say that the M$ BT stack can do the same in the latest update, but I cant find the settings, it all looks the same.
So if any one can help a XdaII (or PDA) newbee, with an install guide and some of your sugestions for the networking, then I would be realy happy.
BTW, if you also know how to set up an audio gateway on the PDA (for my head set) then that wold be great as well. And maby to get the button on the headset to do M$ voice command (if you have it install), then that would be fantastic.
Try downloading bluetooth tools and see if that works for you.
http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html
I did that, but it did not change to much, it only gave me a "call last number" function in the head set, but not any thing with the network
BT and COM
i am having a hard time with it as well, I have win XP pro, and a sitecom USB BT dongle, the drivers for the dongle dont seem to work, it is has if the XP drivers have taken over, all the guides seem to use settings that are not available to the Windows XP BT drivers,
at one point i thought i got it, instead of connecting my XDA to the PC i did it the other way about. This time windows detected and setup some COM ports, although at the moment its at com 13 and 14
(this can be changed by doing to Device manager, selecting the port, properties, advanced, and changing it to whatever you want, it will say the port is in use, but none of the other ports 1-12 are infact in use (although it says they are) not sure if this will generate further problems?
So i think thats the PC side sorted?
now the PDA side, just before i updated PPC2003 i tried this and it didnt work, i then installed those BT tools and it came up with the cool servies page right at the end of setting up a link.
But didn't work, with hindsight i believe it would work if i had connect as i explained above, adding the XDA to the PC.
I then updated PPC2003 useing o2's updater.
setting up a link using the BT settings right after the update did have some extra settings to do with com ports but it still doesnt work and the connect via BT on activesync isnt there.
Then i tried those BT tools everyone is going on about
i get the BT icons on the desktop but thats it, nothing else happens. The cool services screen fails to pop up after setting the link and the connect via BT in sync is also missing.
this might be of no use but at one point useing standard drivers from XP and PPC2003 SP1 i did get a message saying it couldnt connect because it might not be a smart phone or PPC or somthing like that. im totally stuffed with this.
oh it does connect in that i can transfer files TO the XDA but not the other way about.
Hello folks!
This is how I've done it...
1- I installed Widcomm version 1.3.2.7 (on the PC) (BTW I use a Cheap-o-Epox USB dongle)
2- I Downloaded BT Tools (http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html)
3- I established an Activesync connection through Bluetooth (this is done on the PocketPC by using the Activesync/Tools/Connect via 'computername')
4- I configured Widcomm to always trust the incoming MDA2 Bluetooth connection.
5- That's it, works every time... (well actually sometimes works on the second try but works nonetheless)
Good luck!
Rayan
I've also had some success with the Widcomm stack, but I have one problem.
In order for the bluetooth connection to work, I need to log into an account on the XP machine. If someone else then comes along and logs into another account, then my bluetooth connection is dropped. Also, if I don't log into an account, then I can't use bluetooth.
Basically, it seems to be the case that instead of running as a service, the bluetooth stack is running in user accounts. Anyone else got experience with this? Is there a way to configure the installation so that it runs as a service?
Hi Guys,
I have a similar question... is there a release due / tools available to fully utulise the bluetooth stack like the ipaqs for example. Ipaqs can locate and connect to devices as a 'hunter' but the XdaII just seems to be the 'hunted' when it comes to establishing a connection. Is there any way to make my otherwise excellent XdaII a bit more agressive when it comes to seeking out bluetooth connections??? I have already installed the Bluetooth tools v1.01 but this doesn't help the actual 'seeking' connectivity part of things
Can any of you bright sparks out there help ???? If enough people wanted this functionality, what would it cost to develop if it is not available maybe ???
just a thought. Cheers all.

I found the answer to how to install the .cab file, just copy it to your device and select it in file manager, it then install's itself.
If I manage to connect my GTek 2020 to my BT AP with this I'll let you know!
Hey,
I flashed my 8125 with Summiter's Cingular_RUU_WIZARD_217_AKU2_WWE-RINGRS-OCLOCK.exe.
I have a question now: can I use Bluetooth File Transfer Service with Bluesoleil Bluetooth USB dongle?
If not, is there a way to fix it?
Also I cannot send/receive files (like tones or pictures) via BT... This is really weird since most of BT enabled phones have this option, even the cheapest of them...
Don't get me wrong, but it's kinda embarrasing when a guy shows off with his RAZR sending pictures and stuff and I can't...
HELP, PLEASE....
Ps. yeah... I hate RAZR's...
I am not familiar with that ROM but you should be able to pair with that dongle - just make sure both are discoverable and they should be able to pair. Also you can send files via bluetooth use the inbuilt file explorer and click on file and menu should appear - choose beam file and bluetooth window will appear
Nope... it doesn't... I got only IR...
Need more info to help.
Does your bluetooth go on and is it discoverable? Does blue indicator light flash? Did bluetooth work before flashing with new rom?
Cuz you should definitely be able to bt with file explorer. If not i assume its a rom problem and would suggest trying to flash back to original rom.
Well, the BT itself works well. I use BT earpiece and SellingClicker with no problems.
Yet, I don't have an option to beam anything via BT... Only IR or MMS.
And I have no idea whether it worked with oroginal ROM since I flashed it the very second day I got it... Yeah, yeah... I know... that was stupid...
Anyways, any other suggestions?
I figured out a way how to send files from one phone to the other... (I think, coz I didn't really test throughfuly)
The big question is: how do I send and receive files to the PC without using ActiveSync?
You have to....
...have your bluetooth om and discoverable to be able to send files via bluetooth.
Once you tap "Beam", you'll have to wait a few seconds to see the option to send via btooth. You'll first see just the "Infared" prompt, then underneath it, you'll start to see "Unknown Devices" appear, Unknown Device changing to the actual device name, once you MDA picks it up. Then you can tap to send to that particular device.
So you can do it....I just think it's misleading that it only says "Beam".....

Yes, but when I finally send it to the PC all the PC does is open MS Outlook and that's it...
The way I see it is that OBEX file is nothing else but a "business card" file read only by outlook.
Did you try sending files both ways yourself?
:-(
common guys... help, please..
Just now I was trying to send a 5mb file from PC to phone via the Bluetooth Object Push Transfer. It was working for about 5 min and... nothing... the PC says: Object Push Service is disconnected... on the phone there is nothing. Even the memory status stays exactly as it was 10 min ago... :-(
help, please

Hi,
You'll probably need to start bluetooth via the comm manager.
It will find other hardware with open bluetooth ports.
- Go to the file you wish to beam to someone else.
- Tap the file (keep the stylus on it untill you get the menu)
- Choose " send file" (this might be called differently, my version is dutch)
- Select bluetooth.
Good luck!
Greetz,

it doesnt seem to work
when I beam a file, it never detects a bluetooth. all it shows is the Infared and searching... it searches for a long time but never detects a bluetooth. any other suggestions?

Hi,
The procedure I gave seems to work properly with my MDA.
You could check if the person you're beaming to has bluetooth (turned on) but I guess you've checked that already.
Otherwise try to minimize the distance between the two pieces of hardware.
If that doesn't solve your problem, I can't help you any further, maybe bring it by the shop where you bought it to have it checked?
Good luck & greetz,
Flar
yeah same here never managed to get bluetooth to work
i found that i needed to enable beam recieve in order to recieve on bluetooth, the incoming and outgoing port stuff i left alone.
so i can now receive files but haven't got a clue how to send them, i make a bluetooth partnership ok (my mate can then send me a file) but i can not find the option to send one back. the file explorer menu doesn't have bluetooth listed on it?

I am having this same issue. Anyone know the solution? All I want to do is send some files to my wife's v3 but I cant setup a new outgoing port. I am running the latest official rom from cingular.
You need to ensure you already have bluetooth turned on before starting this procedure (many miss this simple point, as they assume it will automatically turned on)
Tap and hold on the file you want to send, and select "Beam"
Wait a few seconds for it to scan for devices.
All IRDA recipients (If any) will be listed, and below them, all available Bluetooth recipients will be shown.
Hope this helps you m8
I'm using TMobile MDA, newest ROM, and having the same problem, I'm able to recieve bluetooth but there is no option for beaming a file via bluetooth, only IR... and yes, bluetooth is enabled properly and I am properly partnered with a V3...

Make sure both phones are enabled to be "seen" . My friend and I were trying to figure this out the other day, and she has her device set to something like 'make this device invisible' so even though our phones were next to each other, her device wasn't showing up. Once we changed this, both devices were visible.
***However, neither phone was allowing the sending of files to each other thru the bluetooth, and I'm wondering if this has something to do with her having a Sprint Treo 650 w/ Palm OS, and I have Cingular 8125 w/ WM5.... anyone have any answers for this one??***
Thanks in advance.
Ermm this is a very stupid question, but I appear not to be able to send recieve stuff with my brand new Hermes. If a file is selected in the File Explorer and 'Beam' is selected, then the BT search works fine, but the usual Align IR port line doesnt even appear :S
Furthermore, the IR LED doesnt turn on (I checked by watching through another phone camera, which can 'see' IR turn on)?
I cannot recieve files either, it would appear, despite beam being enabled in the communications screen and the 'accept incoming beams': nothing happens, other phones can't find the device...?
Ive searched IrDA problems, but found nothing, can anyone suggest an easy way to test (I realise this is a very noobish problem, so thanks for the time spent reading this)?
PS I am running this rom:
http://www.handy-faq.de/forum/htc_h...ermes_rom_wm6_1_wwe_s64_v2_download_2057.html
this is a new kind of problem and the thing is not everybody is using IR for their communication connection. IR is slower than bluetooth so no body bother for it. Even I have used only 5 times (may be) in two years for business card to some non bluetooth handsets
Although IR is not very popular now, I still use IR function very frequently. I use it to transfer small file to my PC which has no bluetooth function built-in, but has an IR port on it.I like the feeling of "everything always be connected".
Back to the title, you could try two things.
1) Check the settings->connection->wireless send/receive( I don't know the exact name on your phone, I use Chinese version, the english name of it is just my guess ), the check box in it should be checked.
2) In wireless manager, in its setting there is also an controlling stuff related to wireless connection, check it ,and make it appear in the manager main screen, then you can turn it on.
You can try above two thing first.

just to help......its called settings->connection->beam in english
Actually I have a similar problem, though I have an Atom.
Tried flashing, didn't work for me. Guess it is a hardware problem.
When I cooked my polish rom there was an option normaly enable witch turn of the irda port. When I turn it of the irda works fine. Unfortunetly my present rom WM6.1 wasn't cooked and irda is turn off. Could somebody shaw me way to turn it on? THX.
I've searched other threads and other forums but can't seem to find anything regarding my specific problem. I can scan for and pair with bluetooth devices from the bluetooth settings menu. However, I cannot connect to any devices. It always says "paired but not connected." I have tried both soft and hard reboots but get the same problem. Here's the crazy part. If I use a third party application that requires bluetooth connectivity (such as text messaging, bluetooth file transfer, or PDANet), I can connect to the paired devices and use them appropriately even in other apps and with a pretty decent range. However, bluetooth settings in the settings menu still shows the device as "paired but not connected" even when it is clearly connected and functioning properly via third party apps. I can also connect to the NC from other devices like the phone or computer though the NC still shows the device as "paired but not connected." The reason this oddity is a problem for me is because I cannot find a third party app to allow me to connect my headset, keyboard, or mouse through another route. The NC will find and pair with the devices but will not connect. I'm using CM7 stable version 7.1 and it was a clean install from stock. Is there any way to fix this issue to allow me to connect to devices like keyboards, mice, and headsets, or can someone point me to an app I may have somehow missed that will allow me to connect to these devices through a third party app?
So I have found a couple of applications that will connect the mouse and keyboard but still no go on the head set? Does anyone know of a fix for the problem of not being able to connect from the settings screen or alternatively of an app that will connect the headset as a workaround? The headset is a Plantronics 520.
Guess no one can help with this one. Tried flashing the latest nightly build but that only temporarily fixed the problem. I'll assume this is a shortcoming in the ROM and keep looking for a third party app that might provide a workaround.

So you say you can't use a bt headset with CM7.1? I'm sure my wife did use a headset w/ our cm7.1 nook-color... never tried a keyboard or mouse... I have a computer for that...
