Hi all, i have a rooted Acer Iconia 3.1 with 2.6.36.4 HoneyVillain Kernel.
The problem is that, whan i try to play a movie(720p x264) with any video player (mobo player, stock video player ecc ecc) it runs only in fast forward mode.
Anyone know why ? How i can fix it ?
Tnx in advance.
Does it support the file type you are trying to play..?
Yes, the file movie is showing, but it show only a frames per minute, as it would in fast forward mode. The movie ends very quickly....
Tnx
Had the same problem, the Iconia apparently has problems with playing HD content. Here is a guide I used and it works flawless now.

Hello guys. I installed core player and I am trying to watch a video but, I don't know why, the playing is very very slow, with the software displaying many times the icon of "waiting status"... unwatchable!
If I try with in-built windows media player the same file is good and smooth...
the file is in .mp4
I also try divx player, but the GUI is very small and the buttons too small...not good for me.
any ideas?
Thanks a lot to everybody in advance.
More information please - what version of Coreplayer, what settings?
if wmp is playing smooth then why would u need coreplayer! if u wanna watch flash from browser....get skyfire.
sorry for few info, but i was in a hurry.
Core player 1.3.6
I have installed also the driver patch 1.1 by chainfaire (if it is related...)
My rom as in signature.
Go to Menu>Tools>Settings>Select Page>Video and then change the Video output to GDI. That should fix your performance issues.
THANKS
thank you jakem.
Now works perfectly. There are a lot of settings and I don't know exactly what they are. Unfortunateky I haven't found yet a manual on the net
But anyway, great software. I managed also to rotate landscape with BsB the software. Did I do it right or there was a solution inside coreplayer? (because sometimes it gets slow with few framerates)
There is setting for rotation. It's in the main menu .. take some time experimenting.
Actually I found that raw frame buffer video mode is a just few percent faster, but I may just imagine things.
I'm having the same problem. Videos stutter until they are unwatchable.
I opened the same video in WMP and it runs without any lag.
I selected GDI in Core Player and still the same performance continues.
I have the ChainFire driver installed, would that be related?
This happened to me yesterday.
And ironically, the benchmark was ok! only the playback was horrible. Couldn't find out what caused it. I removed Chainfire's patch but that didn't help. Had to hard reset at last.
And by the way, I tried all 3 video output modes, no avail...
Coreplayer 1.3.6
Hi, I've got some Mp4 video's i've been playing back quite happily on Custom ROM R8 and have today put Vegacomb 1.7 on and these files do not playback. The only way i can get them to play back was to load Moboplayer and use software decode.
Anyone got any ideas or is this a bug in Vegacomb? Tried to post it in the Vegacomb forum but couldn't.
Cheers.
On custom R8 you played them with default media player?
Did you download Moboplayer codecs?
Hi, yeah sorry, on R8 I used the default player. On Beta 1.7 the default player just gives "Fail to load" message.
Even in Moboplayer just selecting the movie gives the message "this file cannot be played by the system player, please long press it, and select soft decoding mode to play it"
As far as codecs go not sure which on i need for the Vega? can anyone advise?
Thanks
I use Vplayer with 2.2 and 2.3. maybe he will run with 3.0

So I ended up going back to MoDaCo R8 and all is well. All movies play with no need for an additional player. I did however load Moboplayer and it plays all files using hardware decode (which did not work on Vegacomb.
Thanks for the replies.
I have the same problem. I don't like to go back, I like the VegaComb. Isn't there anone who can tell how to solve this problem?
I am facing an issue with Adobe flash player on MIUI ROM (currently using MIUI 1.9.9, which is latest). The flash player crash if I try to farward the video, but runs O.K. if I allow to run the video as it is.
For example, using Stock browser (even with Dolphin HD), in YOU TUBE if I open any video, it runs perfectly. But, if I try to forward the video (try to skip some part), the video crashes.
I tried all Adobe Flash 10.1, 10.2 and latest 10.3, but same issue. Is this to do with MIUI or all CUSTOM ROM. I remember, I used to face similar problem with stock ROM (2.2) as well.
Any solution ?
Works for me using stock MIUI browser on newest MIUI and newest Flash. 720p vids lag a lot though.

Newest flash means flash 10.3, right ? Have you tried to forward the video (I mean skip some part and move to middle of the video) ?
I said, it works if I do not try to forward the video.

Yes 10.3.186.6 from market. And I can skip youtube videos (in browser too).
Btw I have franco.Kernel installed and some overclocking etc. if that does matter.

I am also running the latest MIUI with franco kernal.
When I try to forward the video in YOUTUBE, an message pops up saying:
"Sorry, this video cannot be played"
I am not sure, but it seems that it is to do with "HQ" option in the YOUTUBE. If I disable this, some videos are able to forward, but again, for some videos, I see above error message. But, as far as "HQ" option is enabled, all videos crash if I try to forward the video.

Yes now I understand. It does crash if you use m.youtube.com and choose "HQ" but if you use normal youtube site, then you can go forward in 720p vids too (but they lag). And everything works with youtube app too.
I noticed a discussion on the net recently where only videos tagged to "work on mobile devices" when uploading will work on mobile devices. I wonder if this has anything to do with youtube problems.
Hi. I'm currently running MIUI 2.1.20 (see link below)
http://forums.miui.us/showthread.php?13388-MIUI-us-Kindle-Fire-rom-Updated-2-1-20-0xD34D
One problem for me is that I can play streaming videos from the Net and user-uploaded videos in Facebook, but when they play, the video is all choppy, like how a TV is out of tune with like diagonal lines running through it, so it's pretty much un-viewable. The audio plays fine, and the video plays, just can't really make it out at all. So, this happens when I try to watch videos from web-sites that aren't in YouTube & Netflix (those work fine).
Was wondering if there has been any development regarding a fix for this issue in this build of MIUI?
If not, does anyone know if the 2.2.3 ICS build of MIUI addresses this issue? (see link below) It's not listed as a known issue, but I don't want to assume it's fixed before flashing to it.

I use MX video player for all my videos. You can set it to SW decode and its pretty good about playing all videos without lag.

Right now, the lack of hardware acceleration in the multiple ports of ICS for the Fire prevents HD video playback, and often leaves SD video pretty laggy or choppy. Also, with no native support for Adobe Flash when streaming video, that can degrade the quality as well, if not playing whatsoever. The devs are working to get this resolved, but as it's a really complicated process, it still may be awhile before it's resolved.
Hello All -
I'm a noob with the A500 stock ICS. I have the Playon App installed, and I can browse to whatever I want to watch, but when I select an item, rather than playing it right away it brings me to screen with a picture of the video. If I tap the video it asks me how I want to play it. I've installed several different players but none of them work (mobo is one). On my android phone the video will just start playing automatically.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not opposed to rooting and installing a different ROM if that is what I need to do.
MX player
Did you tray the MX player? It loads the needed codec automatically and you can choose between hard ware ore soft ware decoding. One of both should work... .

Tried It
Thank you - I did try the MX player as well...to no avail. I even reset the tablet this morning to try a fresh OS and that made no change either. Thanks again
...nothing to thank for m8! I couldn't help...:-(

I have the same issue. Before upgrading to ICS, Playon app worked fine for me (thor v14.2 rom). With ICS (official WW), somehow .m3u8 HTTP live streaming never starts. Tried pretty much all media players I can find. No luck.
FWIW, I just saw a comment on Google Play, maybe you can give it a try -
Finally working on ICS. This app stop working on my Acer 500 after the Ice Cream Sandwich update. I tried everything until I found Rockplayer version 1.7.4 which works on ICS. Video plays without issues. ENJOY!!!!!
