Hey everyone,
Before my Transformer arrived at my door-step...I started reading around a bit more about spare chargers and such - and came across a few threads that people had had trouble charging their TF101 because the AC Adaptor was fried/dead/whatever.
I own the B60 version and all seemed to be going well until late today. I plugged in my charger as per usual...and no charging icon. I did a few plug ins/outs and swapping the polarity of the plug to no avail. I also tried an iPad 10W charger and that did nothing; proving to me that only the supplied charger or a 12V molex rail can charge the thing.
I then thought of any changes I had done to my TF101 over the course of the last 24 hours. I remembered. I had installed Clemsyn's kernel v9 on the Revolver 2.5 ROM. So...I thought about reverting to Netformer 1.6 kernel I was using before.
After flashing, it started to charge again. (Note: I did reboot the TF101 a few times before this to see if it was a Honeycomb issue).
This is a theory anyway....if the chargers are failing on stock ROMs and kernels...well that's ASUS' fault.
Hoped I helped anyone.
i don't know about this. I got a b60 also. The charger didn't work the first night I got the transformer. Stock rrom stock everything. I played around with the charger and it worked again. Now sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Im on custom rom now and its still the same.

I was completely stock when my charger just stopped charging both the dock and the tablet. A few days later it started charging only the tablet and only doing that occasionally. It never did charge the dock again. It was the impetus I needed to finally RMA everything back to Asus for which I am waiting its return. It seems to me that this charger just can not be trusted and that is a big problem with a proprietary charger!

How many chargers have you owned, and how many of them have died? If it's a sample size of one, it's pretty-much meaningless. You only hear complaints from people who have a problem, after all.
Personally, I've used three chargers (mine, my wife's, my fathers) with three tablets and three docks, and none have had problems as yet (several months).
I have a B4O TF (fantastic BTW) and my charger died ...stock rom etc.
sent to asus...week later they still can't find my RMA (and I thought Dells customer service was bad)
I had already bought a charger for spare so I can wait
I bought a 5mm DC Female Barrel to USB Female cable - EBAY $2.99 and I'm always looking at chargers for it when I see one... Bought a I home 120V AC to 15VDC adapter at goodwill this weekend for 1.99 total cost of my new charger (others gonna stay in the drawer) 5 bucks and some change
find the Barrel to usb connector link and info about it in DevCake's thread here

i had the same problem with my charger month back when i got my pad. i called asus. it is a known problem. they sent me a new /replcemnt part for the charger. no hassles . ive been fine since
I experienced this same thing last night. I had flashed to Clemsyn's kernel Elite v12a kernel. I did a reboot however and charging resumed. I was having a hard time connecting to the computer as well. Perhaps, the kernel or settings still thought that the Transformer was connected to a PC because it will not charge from a PC unless the screen is off. There must be some script that is being interfered with here. Your theory may have some traction.
I was rooted when mine decided it didn't want to charge anymore, I had only had it for 5 weeks. I unrooted and even back to stock it still didn't want to charge. I sent it back to them and they fixed it after a week. Everything's been good so far.
My charger was working intermittently and I was near the point of returning the TF w/ dock or buying another charger. Then I tried running the charger thru a car power converter in my car and it seems that did the trick. Now it charges everytime, its worth the try.

okay so im not the only person here. my charger just stop charging yesterder. never rooted, always stock rom. i did factory reset, and still no good. now it only charges very slow, no charging icon showed. the cable is good, i can still connect to laptop.
The real question is: Is it the pad or the adapter? Because if it's the pad, that sucks big-time, if it's the adapter it is irritating but not a real problem, you could charge it via USB on your laptop/PC
I finally contacted Asus regarding to the faulty charger. And they told me to return the whole thing to the my retailer, because im still within the 30 day return period.

Charging via a PC is very limited. It will be very slow if it works at all. The charger provides higher voltage (15 vs 5) and higher current (1.2 vs. 0.5 amps). The charger and pad also expect the current on non standard pins association with USB 3 connectors.

Gotta be the adapter. I tried everything to get it working again, I noticed that when the screen was off, and I plugged it in, nothing would happen. But If I plugged it in to a smaller charge adapter, it would show the screen (as if something were connected), but not charge. So I tried my friends charger and it instantly started charging. However, After I charged it, I went back to my old charger, and it worked again. WEIRD! I have a backup adapter now just in case it happens again. Same thing happen in the past, It wouldnt charge (and I didnt have my friends), so I let it die, and charged it with my smaller adapter (which took like 1-2 hours to get 7%). Then I plugged it in again to my old adapter, and it charged it. It's almost like the charger reads it as full, and wont allow it to charge anymore. Then when some other adapter start charging, then it realizes it does need battery. No idea. Just my 2 cents.
Clemson Blades v.17 fixed it for me
Charging required a reboot after a certain amount of uptime. But, I also use Battery Monitor Widget's circle battery status icon. What was wierd is that sometimes the ASUS battery icon wouldn't show charging, but the circle battery status icon would.
Anyway, everything works for me now with Clemson Blades v.17. He specifically added in usb forced charging with v.17.
I saw the same problem with both ac adapter and computer's usb, but it was fine for a while after reboot but would stop working again after a while.

If anyone did a search, you would know that this is a common problem.
The trick is to unplug it for 5 or so minutes and it'll work again. Also, the writing on the plug should be facing up.

Any risk in using a different charger than the original samsung one to charge the sgs2?
I use a combination of blackberry charger at work, universal micro usb charger downstairs at home, universal car charger and official charger upstairs.
Any concerns with this?
I've been doing that for ages. I use the droid, SE x10 and iPhone chargers with no issue.
As always YMMV
I am using htc's charger which has a higher rating than samsung charger. No problem at all...

I use a Sony charger to charge my S2 , I have not even removed the Samsung one from the box , As long as you use a branded charger will be fine.
I've tried to use Nokia's 1200 mA charger, It did charge the phone but whenever i connected that charger the phone would slow down terribly. So, whatever you use, try to keep it around Samsung's charger's 700 mA.
Ive found that the standard charger is rubbish! I had my galaxy s 4 month and it broke, my wifes galaxy 3 did same and now i dont even bother with the one out the box, just use the usb cable and the adapter i got with my tab.

Absolutely right...my phone is about 1 month old..and the official samsung charger is already broken..not charging anymore..i guess there is an internal wire breakage at the flexible point of the charger becoz when i shake the wire at that point it starts charging intermittently..

At home I use a Lenmar AC-to-USB 1A charger I picked up at Fry's for around $10; in the car I use a 1A Cygnett 12V-to-USB charger, also from Fry's. Both charge the device at least as well as the OEM AC charger; the car charger appears to charge the SGS2 even when I'm running CoPilot Live.
I use the iGO charge anywhere.
It's a tad pricey, but since the GS2 battery life isn't great (my only complaint on the phone), the charger is great for it since it has an internal battery that charges up when you put it in an outlet so you can charge the phone without needing an outlet. Great for in school or walking around, just put it in my bag and press the button and it charges.
I'm using my BlackBerry charger with no issues, I just do it for convenience as the charging time is the same as the standard charger.
Cheers for the replies, you have put my worried little mind at ease!

well, i just emailed samsung raising my concerns regarding the faulty chargers... see what they come back with....
Guys have you noticed any change in response when we plug in another charger?
I have been using the HTC charger, 200 mA (input), Output 5V --> 1A.
Whenever i connect my phone to charge and try to work on it, i see my screen lag terribly. Haven't tried it with the supplied charger though due to the low voltage that came with it.
I know i would be wrong, but wanted to check with the experts on this forum...

200ma is way low, less than half the 500 ma usb standard. Get a new charger. Most of the chargers you are going to see will be 500 ma I would go with double that.
Some (bad?) chargers will disable touchscreen
I have a couple of usb-chargers off ebay and they give some trouble.
When connected, the touchscreen will not work anymore.
This is mentioned in the manual btw.
Guess the SII is a little sensitive.
Yeah, ebay chargers are a crapshoot. Head to walmart or similar and read the power specs, get something that puts out 5v at 1A LPS. This will charge much faster than the often usb based standard 500 mA chargers and the battery will not be harmed at that charging level which is what many stock HTC chargers put out nowdays. Do not get anything less than 500mA, this is the usb standard and works but will be slower to charge. El Cheapo no name chargers on ebay and such may have the spec but may or may not actually put out the juice. You can usually tell this because the phone will have problems like the ones mentioned right here. The stock charger does not put out any special juice, juice is juice. If a charger puts out to spec the phone will work while charging.
Hi,
I hope someone can help me. My Transformer doesn't charge anymore since yesterday.
Tablet was around 10% when i put the charger in, but the message 'Connect your charger'doesn't go away.
Strange thing is that whenever i plug it in and TF is off, it will turn on, so I guess the wall charger and cable are functioning.
Also when connecting it to my PC I can sync.
I've tried already all the solutions i could find online:
- put the wall charger in the freezer --> didn't work
- cold boot --> didn't work
- factory reset --> didn't work
- tried a different wall charger and connected the wire to a portable battery --> didn't work
- flashed the ROM again --> didn't work
The only way now i have for charging my TF is by USB (connected to PC while turned off). It will charge this way but it takes about 3 hours to get 10% charge from this.
Anyone had this happen already before?
So you tried multiple Asus wall chargers? with no luck? A standard USB charger will not work as those have an output voltage of 5+ when the tf requires 12+.
Sounds like you have a bad charger, you can join the club of thousands... It is a very common issue and not always resolved by the freezer or fiddling trick. If you are able to trickle charge via a PC connection then your cable and tf should be good.

No, I tried with a different wall charger (from Motorola). I don't think it's the wall charger though, but to make sure I wil connect it to a phone and check if it's working.
It just feels like the cable and wall charger is working as it should (tablet powers up or screen turns on when I plug it in), but the tablet refuses to charge.
Could it be the pins?

And the motorola USB charger puts out at least 12 volts and not just 5. Is it the wall charger for the zoom? I was UN aware that the zoom used a USB type charger (similar to the tf).
Once again, you can't use just any USB wall charger for the tf... 99% of chargers put out the standard 5 volts which is enough to trickle charge a tf and to slightly charge it in done cases when powered down. I am only adamant about this this because I have sewn this post a hundred times, and 99 of those times it was the charger... Many people don't realize the tf USB charger is very coherent then what most folks are accustom to, even though it looks and acts similar to others.
The only way to confirm is to find someone who has a tf and borrow their charger, our go to radio shack and buy the charger I listed... Which you should do any ways because it's is way way better, my charging cord over all length is 10ft. Beats the hell out of the 2 or 3 you normally would have.

You're right, the Motorola wall charger is only 5v output. It was the one I got with the Milestone. I do start to believe it might be the wall charger after all now.
Unfortunately I don't know anyone else with a TF (anyone reading this lives in Ghent, Belgium with aTF?). Radio Shack isn't an option either since I live in Belgium, but I'll try to find overhere or online.
Anyway, appreciate your help. Might try the freezer thing again in the meantime... you never know.
When you connect your TF to a pc on a usb 3.0 port, should you be able to see the TF charging? Or no way to get more the 5v from this too?

I might try that, but only if I have no other choice (i fear i'll blow up my TF while doing that).
usb chargers are 5v only and will charge but take all day. The TF charger uses the physical usb plug to do double duty. transfer data via usb and charge device using 15v when the charger block sees a gnd signal on pin 7. Charging is not usb. There are several after market chargers that have variable output voltages and an asst of connectors (usb being one) best one is dynex video charger. Also you should not attempt to flash a ROM with 10% charge as you could get stuck in the middle of a charge and have problems.
Well, it was the wall charger after all. Went out to buy a power adapter with 12v and 1000mA output and the tablet is charging again. Many thanks to all people that replied and tried to help me.
For your info: ipad or galaxy wall charger aren't working with our TF's, they both only have an out put of 5v.

Never allow your charge level fall below 30% because it will cause your charger to overheat and eventually stop working.
I've found a couple forums on this but no solutions. Can anyone confirm a working fast charge USB cable other than the stock LG 3' long one?

Thanks. But chargers are easy to find. What is difficult to find is a USB cable to work. You'll see in the thread I linked on the first post, lots of people are having challenges with finding USB cables to work even if a charger is well above 2 amps. Even using the stock LG charger, no USB cables seem to work except the one that came with the phone, to eliminate the "slow charge" icon and allow around 1500mA of current to be drawn from the charger like it should in a fast charge..
what cable are you using with your new charger? And do you get the slow charging icon?
I think it all boils down to the charging base... I have used the LG, various Htc and Samsung base units with all kinds of mini & micro USB cables without any issues... The base units are rated from 800mA~1.5 and have not had any slow charging issues... I've only experienced the slow charging when connected to the PC or some car chargers...

I used to run a 1.5' usb cable from monoprice and the GPS on my phone would discharge the battery faster than it could be charged. Now the phone charges so much faster.
I have yet to have a problem with any of the generic monoprice cables and wall charges I bought a couple years ago. Only time I get a slow charge notification is using my 1a car charger. My Optimus G and HTC One X chargers and cable work fine as well.
IT IS NOT THE CHARGER!!
It is something in the cable. And good luck finding one. If you use the included USB cable that came with the G2, then it will charge on ANY charger "normally" (fast charge). If you use ANY OTHER cable, it will slow charge.
I don't know what is in the cable or why it makes a difference, but none of my USB cords/chargers work unless I use the INCLUDED USB CABLE.
I had a thread on this already somewhere in the General Area I think. It REALLY sucks because I have TONS of chargers and cables. I have some at work, home office, bedside, 2 in my car, friends cars, etc. I DO use Wireless Charging at night and luckily the phone has a huge battery to last through the day.
There IS a problem here but my thread got ignored like, "I don't see a problem here, just use the included cable". Well yea if I stayed home all the time. My work makes me travel for work so I have to make sure I remove the 1 working cable and carry it with me EVERYWHERE. What a pain in the butt.
Has anyone tried on custom roms to see if perhaps it is something just on the stock software telling it to go Slo-Mo.
My Verizon non usb attachment cable charges fast. My OEM Spectrum cable does as well. My dual one amp car charger charges slow no matter the cable, and my works Motorola and Kyocera cable charges slow no matter the connection. I have a couple Samsung's I need to test. I do not own any generics. I have not tried other combos.

However, the straight plug from my new Verizon car charger does work, the USB port also (ONLY with G2 cable so far[tested lg spectrum, Motorola, Samsung, and Kyocera. Older cables]).
Recap: So far ONLY Direct car charger or USB G2 cable has fast charged. Must be chipped or using some different wire combo?

Ok. I can confirm that the cable used for the Nexus 7 (2012) works.
Also, the original cable for the Samsung Skyrocket works.
Works meaning fast charge.
I can't gurantee that this is the cable, but my skyrocket cable does look like the top cable here:
http://www.ebay.com/bhp/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-skyrocket-usb-cable
(Charger looks like it too, but the charget won't fast charge G2)
Edit:
The Skyrocket was really picky about cables/chargers. If it didn't have the correct one, it would wakelock. Maybe there's something with the way it's wired that makes it good for the G2 as well.

It's something to do with pins 2&3 being bridged that enables a cable to support fast charge.
That adapter linked above is supposed to do that.

Yeah, I'm not so sure about that. It may be the software in the phone that is causing the issue. I had to replace my car charger so I picked up a rocketfish 3.0 amp charger. When I originally used it, it was ridiculously fast, literally 30% in about 30 or so minutes.
Now, here's why I don't think it has anything to do with the charger cables. When I got my phone, I kept putting off doing the first update because I wasn't sure if I was going to root this phone. During this time, I got very good charging speeds from my rocketfish 3.0 amp car charger and many of my other rapid chargers. When I decided I wasn't going to root, I went ahead and downloaded the update. Now, unless I'm using the cable that came with the phone, I get the slow charging message with every single charger. I went from 30% in 30 to about 10% in 30 on my car charger.
I may need to pull out my tinfoil hat, but it would be a pretty huge coincidence that all my charging woes began with that update.
Yea something isn't right. I have a GNex, G2, Nexus 7 2012 and 2013. I always check for AC charging in Settings>Status. It will say AC or USB. When I got my Nexus 7s I replaced all of my chargers with fast chargers. For 2 years I've been fast charging. I got 3 different fast USB chargers on my desk, using the existing setup, Everything fast charges except the G2. If I use the included G2 cable, it will fast charge off all of them. The same with ALL of my home/office/car/travel chargers.
I can only get it to fast charge when I use the included USB cable.
Its something magical with that cable.

I haven't even unwrapped the charging base and usb cable that came with my G2, they still remain in the box. I have been using the charging bases from my Nexus 4, L9, Htc One X, Motorola Atrix and a GS3 through out my house and have mixed cables from god only knows where and all of them work. I get no slow charging from any combination. Even using mini usb cables with micro usb adapters attached and they all still work. I've checked all the output voltages and the lowest one is 800mA. Granted my D801 is rooted, but no custom rom as of yet.

Have you gotten an OTA update?
I'm on the Verizon model. The other guy here said he only started having problems after the Verizon OTA.

Here's my theory,
There are chips either in the battery, the transformer, or both. When the phone doesn't detect what's required, it gives a slow charge message and reduces the charge speed. I have had previous phones with batteries that had built in chips that I had to buy because the generic batteries without the chips wouldn't work as well. I haven't taken a good look at the battery, and the transformer seems abnormally large, when I get a chance and some spares, I'll probably take them apart.
My tinfoil hat is telling me that LG is trying to rope us into buying first-party accessories, but it may also be a way to regulate battery health. Having a non-removable battery, it may be a move by LG to extend the life of the battery as long as possible.
Also, I just rooted my phone and so far no change. I will try the car charger tomorrow.
No updates from Tmobile as of yet... I can only imagine the frustration though. You would think LG would have made charging the phone, regardless of the model more standard across the board.

800mA is a slow charge... You should average 1700mA. Our cable is five pinned (if that matters). I need grab the mA reader app again. Now we know there is kernel check for flux ect. I want to know if the cable is pre chipped as well for check and regulation, isn't too uncommon. I'm beginning to lean more on an over aggressive kernel check though or possibly a combo of kernel and certain chip model check. I just find it odd my straight Verizon car charger and only this cable is working for me. Gonna check car cable pins in the morning. Verizon here, OTA taken. Did not check before.
Hi guys,
I recently brought a new Note 4 two weeks ago and its awesome, but 2 times this week now I've stuck the phone on charge to get a boost & the fast charge facility has not kicked in.. meaning its only charged about 20% in 30minutes.
If I restart the Note it seems to correct itself but it is a bit frustrating that the phone is less than a month old and 1 of its main selling points isn't working properly.
I have got a sm-n910f running Lollipop 5.0.1
My phones not rooted and I usually clear open apps before sticking the phone on charge.
Fast charge is toggled on. Can anyone give me any suggestions to what might fix this?
I put this query into the battery thread this morning but didnt get a response, so apologies for clogging up the forum but I am hopeful that some genius on Xda can give me some help here [emoji3]
Thanks for your help
Fast chargin is working only till 50% If you are more than 50, then it is charging with normal speed.
Thanks @Matin.salat I know this. When put my phone on charge at 15% and went to check it 20-25 minutes later it had only crept up 9% to 24%
do you get the "adaptive fast charger" (or something like that) notification when you plug it in? are you using the supplied cable? power only cables do not work with quick charge; needs to be data+power.
AFAIK Fast Adaptive charging only works if you have the specific adapter (charging block) that is capable of it. Are you using the original charger that came with the Note 4?
Below is a link to the part on samsung's website;

Hope that helps.

Yep using the correct charger and usb cable that comes with it. I chucked my phone on charge at 14% at 17:45 today. Went to grab my phone at 20:00 and its only at 43% charged.
I'll be taking it back and replacing it tomorrow or sunday.. I must have a faulty handset!!!

Hey.. I am using a SM-M910C. I had a similar problem just like you. My device is just 4 months old. Fast Charging used to work properly until a week back suddenly I noticed that it wasnt charging fast. Just like you mentioned, it was charging extremely slow. I checked everything to find out whether the problem was with the phone, power brick or cable. I borrowed my friends cable and tried it on and voila it was working fine. It was showing fast charger connected in notifications. So then I remember that, I had used the same charger and cable to charge my Power Bank before that. And I clearly remember the cable being hot at the time when I removed it. So figured that the cable got burnt off or something. Because the cable needs to have a particular resistance in order to support fast charging. Went and bought a new authentic cable and now fast charging is working as it used to. Never gonna charge the power bank with it anymore.
Hope this helps. Cheers!

I found the wireless charing is extermely slow and even not charging , anyone has similar experience ? Please advise, thanks
This just happened to me today as I tried wireless charging for the first time. Was testing with Samsung 15W charger, gonna look for another charger to see what that does.
Edit: Samsung 15W charger with 25W power supply did not work, Oneplus 50W with 65W adapter worked. Tried the power bricks with both chargers, only 50W+65W combo worked. Looks like it is a little picky with chargers.
Epico Wireless Stand Pro also charging slowly. Charging also stops from time to time. Might be firmware issua?
Alignment seems to need to be pretty much perfect to work...
Already sick of waking up to an uncharged phone so have switched to wired for now.

Yeah. Tried with Samsung charger and it just slides away because of the glass back. This needs a stand to be useful.

This was on one of those Ikea Qi chargers that are covered with fabric for grip... still very awkward to align.
You've reminded me that I do have a Qi charging stand somewhere though... I might dig that out and try it.

Same here.
No issues with an "Amoner" 15W charging stand from Amazon.

Weird... For me with the OnePlus 50W charging station it continuously stops and restarts (or not even that). I'm using it with a 30W OnePlus adapter. Worked with my old device.
Interestingly, I also have the older, wired OnePlus stand with 30W and with that it seems to work.

I tried the 50W charger with 30W adapter, did not even start charging (just blinks red color on the charger). No problems with 65W adapter.
I have boat floatpad 350 ,it's not charging my nothing phone 1,as it's not detecting the divice itself,I have tried with Samsung S10 it's working, but nothing phone is not detecting.pls reply
I have the 100W Xiaomi Charging Station and it worked flawlessly before updating to 1.1.3. After the update the phone has to be adjusted to the mm to get it to charge.
I got a second NP1 with the same specs now and no issues with the wirless charging after the recent update.
So ill just return my first phone...

So you means the first divices has the problem.
Yep.
1st device: 1.1.2 no problems, 1.1.3 charging issues when not placed accurately on the wirless pad
2nd device: 1.1.3 no problems
i use the BHHB Wireless charger stand T524-S, it charges up side down no problem, but right side up it stops charging after a few seconds, also sideways charging does work on these too

My BMW has a charging box, same like a charging pad. When I put my phone inside, it doesn't charge.
I always need to hold the phone 1-2 cm above the charging pad for like 5 Seconds. Then it starts charging and I can lay it down on the pad.
It's like the phone has to perform any handshake with the charger first and when it is too close it doesn't work.
Maybe it works in the same way for you.
According to Ampere, the Nothing Phone 1 stop wireless charging as soon as it reaches 38 degrees (celsius), which is incredibly low
Wireless charging has been awesome for me. Mine charges wirelessly incredibly fast and I never have an issue. I've been using this charger .
