As per title, android browser crashes with mobile facebook site while desktop site works.
With opera both mobile and desktop sites work.
I tried clearing cache, cookies and all but the problem continues

i would do it the same way like u do it with the youtube.apk!
make a backup, delete the file using titaniumbackup, delete the file in "manage apps" and then replace it
in /system/app/browser.apk and install it!
collateral i can give u my browser app
if it doesnt work i would delete data with titanium backup. in browser plugin..

read on opera forums and one suggested it was the 64 bit edition ...loaded the 32 bit browser and it's perfect and seems faster and smoother on my win8-64 system ...wtf ??
funny, opera reports both 32 and 64 bit in progrems/features as build 1738 ...only way to tell the 64 bit one is by the older date of installation ...d'oh?
Download puffin browser
somewhere in africa

yes i have just seen those including "steel" and what i am installing with high hopes the firefox/fennec beta!
fennec opens and closes (not force) on its own oh well
Do people not like the stock browser? My votes is for the default web browser since it's the best I've tried so far. Firefox looks promising too.
i dont mind the defualt but i cannot download no files that are .apk even after doing the settings change to allow them. this is why i switched browsers. i really wanted to try this fennec except it doesnt launch...

I like Skyfire and the Desire Browser the best.

LMAO! Wait... don't make me add you to my blocked list!
Have you flagged Allow Unknown Sources in Settings-->Applications?
Doing so default browser should download .apk

yes i have but it still dont work but does for other browsers.
1) use Download Crutch for default browser to download anything.
2) Tried default one & Skyfire 2.0. Didn't like Skyfire - jumpy zooms, videos play only partially and can't be navigated (forward/back), etc. Still keeping Skyfire just in case, but using default one.
The only serious quirk of the default browser - lack of proper visual tab interface for selecting between browser windows (you have to switch between windows based only on their titles).
I haven't seen any reason to switch off of the default browser. It has a very Chrome-like feel to it, and has outperformed the other browsers I've tried (Opera and Skyfire so far) by a large margin. I feel like Google did a good job importing a close rendering of their fantastic desktop browser onto the mobile market.
Another solution is:
Install ASTRO FileMenager and flag Enable Download from Browser. You can find this option in Preferences
I've tried all of them and so far XScope has been the only one I use. Love it and always getting better.
So let's make a list:
Native
Opera Mini
Skyfire
Xscope
Dolphin
Steel
Is there any other?
I suggest to copy and paste the list and add him to it so in the end we get a whole list.

Doesn't that only apply for the market?
Pretty sure we'll be able to DL anything in the next CM update which will render all the other browsers (aside from the stock one) useless. At least for me.
And I agree with the above poster that the only quirk are the tabs, or lack of. Add those then we are in business.
I tried to download a pdf earlier and the browser refused to download the file saying that its not supported...
Is there a way around this annoying issue?
Edit: Astro File Manager allows you to override browser download restrictions in its preferences. Problem solved.
That's weird, I havnt run into that and I have been downloading all sorts of crap from both browser and dropbox. Do you have a pdf reader installed? Try installing a reader and then downloading.

Had same issue use alternative browser and its fine
Thats kind of silly that samsung gimped the native browser so badly... I mean, are there any browsers that are better from a speed perspective?
there are some that are faster but buggier
i personally like xscope and skyfire
dolphin browser hd used to be on my list but lately its super buggy and laggy
Simple fix: just install ASTRO.

Astro lets you override browsers from preventing downloads on unsupported files. It's in the settings/preferences.
Ah ha. Thanks guys.
I stopped using Astro cause it didnt support 7z files...
I guess i should support those guys again
Hi, as another option I like using other file managers besides astro so I installed download file crutch it is not available in the market but you can find links for it here. Right now I am using that with estrongs file manager and it is great.

Can only access mobile versions on many major sites... regardless if you use browsers that have desktop settings!
WTF SAMSUNG..... WHY DO YOU THINK WE OPTED FOR A BIGGER SCREEN???? THIS IS ONE MAJOR REASON. HELLO?
Man.. unreal.
Wondering if rooting in some way could enable circumventing this problem.
Actually might take it back for this.
Odd. using Dolphin HD i am able to change the user agent of the browser and browse either mobile or full version of the site.
Sometime after you change the user agent you need to clear your cookies and restart the browser. Have you tried this?
Have U tried nytimes, cnn, msnbc, nfl(. Com) engadget,....

I just got it working like the post said above I clear cache, data, history in both stock browser and dolphin. Then opened dolphin and hit menu>settings>under dolphin setting select User Agent and select desktop. After doing that I was able to go to ESPN and CNN and it was finally not in mobile view.
Hi all,
When using my tablet the browser suddenly crahes, xda forum being the main offender. This happens with the stock browser and dolphin hd
No other apps open in the background
Anyone any ideas?
Search, this has been covered multiple times...
But try opera browser, it's good. Otherwise, routinely clear the cache from the browser app giving you issue, this seems to help. Once it gets to about 20mb it starts closing on content heavy pages.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
cheers, thought cache but just with it being 2 different browsers. I will also try opera
I use opera and dolphin. Dolphin hd suffers from the aforementioned issue, but since I started clearing it's cache every few days it hasn't happened in months... Same with the stock browser, though I don't use that one as often.

Is anyone else experiencing problem with Opera after updating to ICS? I have been having nothing but issues since I updated. Fortunately for me I am not having the random reboot issue.
1. I can only have Opera open for a few minutes before it decides to close.
2. With the option selected to view pages in desktop mode Yahoo refuses to. I always have click the Desktop link at the bottom of the mobile page.
3. I cannot log into XDA either.
Yes, I have cleaned out the cache along with all the other stored data. After having Opera open for as few minutes it will still close.
Opera worked perfect for me before updating to ICS. I don't know if this is an Opera problem or a ICS/Asus problem?
I use Opera as my main browser, before and after ICS, and am not having a problem. It is more stable than the default browser for me.
I should add that I don't use the Opera Link or Opera Turbo options, in case you are using them.
Had a few problems with Opera

I had little issues here and there but not like you stated. The last few updates helped out. If you have opera link set up I would blow away the install and try again. If not try killing the cached process in ics settings not just the running process.
