I was unable to find any setting to allow the screen to remain on while the phone is charging.
It would be nice to have for the Home and Car apps
It's under "development" where you turn on and off usb debugging.

on a side note, as slow as the phone charges, it will barely keep up with screen on running a live wallpaper.... i was watching voltages and temps this morning...
CM needs to up charge voltage like he did on the g1
Now that it's updated to Froyo, how do you keep the screen on while charging? Especially hate it wen on G-maps and it keeps shutting off.
I think there are widgets but I thought you had to enable them first before running any other app.
Thanks guys for all the knowledge.
I am running into this also, I know that there was an option to keep the display on always while charging but that option is gone the way of the dodo...
Currently running
2.2
Kernel 2.6.32.9
Build is FROYO.UVKB5
If you can list a widget or even a change to the build.prod that could be changed or added that would be great.
Any change of getting a build.prod from an eclair build maybe there is a difference that could be found, maybe this functionality could be added back in or made accessible.
try screebl from the market.
mine is under development
On my phone, it's under development also.

This option is not available on some roms. I had it in eclair.ji6. I'm running stock froyo.uvka6, not there anymore.
I now use Widgetsoid ($1.46) which has a widget to toggle screen always on.

I searched the market and there appears to be a utility just for keeping the screen always on. I haven't tried it, just posting it in case you want to try it.
Screen On (free)

Screen Suite Lockscreen also has an option to keep screen always on.

I have not heard of no one posting this problem I am about to post. I hope I can get help with it. The last Standlone android build I used that worked for me was the first one by dan1j3l called LeoFroyo-1.0. I have been trying to test out everyone's android build and for some reason for each build after it creates the data store and I see the boot screen the android screen say's "powering down" and my hd2 automatically shuts off and then i have to turn it back on which then makes it go back to windows mobile. It is annoying to having tried each build and the end result is my device auto- shutting down on me after the boot screen. What should I do to resolve this problem.
This problem reccurs on every single build you use? odd.
and it actually boots into android? past the boot logo/splashscreen?
Hmmm... its most likely not androids fault, make sure youve HSPL'd your device, update your radio ROM to something past 2.08 and throwing on ChuckyROMdroid (as your windows mobile ROM) would perhaps help.
Also, format your SD card to FAT32 BEFORE using any android build, and make sure your battery is charged?
My personal setup is:
HSPL3
ChuckyROMdroid
2.10 radio
ShubCRAFT 1.4c
make sure to run clrcad before HaRet, and that's about as much help as i can give off the top of my head
I have a Tmobile hd 2. It has hard spl on it. Can I go higher than hdspl 1 on my tmobile hd2? I tried the formatting numerous tiimes. I thiught it had to do with something in the startup file. It's just weird how as soon as the boot screen finish loading and I see the android screen interface my device vibrates then it notifies me on the android screen that it is powering down or it just vibrated then power down automatically. It's a real tease.
It is mind-boggling that this single model can cause so many different type combination of problematic behavior, isn't it?
Makes me feel guilty sometimes, that I suffer no serious setbacks running android with my combination so far.

Same with me, the so called robot voice, never had it once. And I've been using android from the beginning, also every build have always loaded up for me with no problem.
What battery are you using.. i had the same issue with the official extended battery.. it;'s a known issue if it's that ...
The whole time I have been using the official extended battery. I think when I started using the very first build I had the original battery. I will swap it and see if any there is any change. That is a good point.
There are some workarounds for extended batteries though:
You could ignore the readings from the battery in the kernel
Pro's: No need to swap batteries, able to charge while running android
Cons: Unsafe to charge while running android, inaccurate battery readings if they work at all
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7700703&postcount=1
Or you could cover the middle pin of the battery with a little piece of paper or tape
Pro's: Completely safe
Con's: you won't be able to charge under android, you'll have to reinsert the battery and boot windows every time you want to charge, inaccurate battery readings
It worked. Who would have thought the official Htc exteded battery would cause somethng like that to happen. I hope future builds have a way around this problwm. I am suprised nobody posted spmething regarding this. This phone is the best yet but I know having an extended battery is essential to it's longevity use in the day.
extended battery BP-E400 caused the Auto-Shutdown problem
hi guys, I got exactly the same problem you you guys encountering. I accidently swap back the original SLIM battery and the Android Froyo boot smoothly without auto-shutdown. I can somehow confirmed that the auto shutdown is caused by the extended battery BP-E400.
New ROM eliminated Auto-Shutdown problem
try this Android Mdeejay Froyo Sense v2.3 NextSense ROM:
(sorry, the link cannot be posted. Moderator disallowed. But you can google around with the keyword above.)
Works flawless with my extended battery. No more auto-shutdown. YeeHah....
Since updating to 2.3.3 I have had not only the battery drain problem after exiting a game such as Glyder but also complete screen freezes necessitating a battery pull, one with Google Maps and another with a different app. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I am. I am on Darky's 10.1, but I don't think it has anything to do with Darky's ROM itself, but something with the OS or some incompatibility with an application.
I don't know how to debug it, since it happens so randomly I can't recreate it consistently.
Until today I thought it was something to do with apps that are memory intensive. But today it happened after I plugged in the car charger and it went totally irresponsive. I left it there for 10 minutes to see if it'd respond and it didnt.
It does seem to be UI, though. Because whenever it happens the phone will start responding but if there is background music (a game, music player, movie, etc) it will keep playing. And after 30 seconds the screen will go to sleep like it was just operating normally.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix it or debug it, they'll be welcome!
I had this with FuguMod, would only come back to life by putting the phone to sleep and waking it again. Changed to Goatrip and the problem vanished.
The same issue with me (Gingerbread JVH 2.3.3 deodexed, rooted) mostly when i'm browsing the gallery the screen freezes and after a while the phone reboots. And sometimes when an app for example a game is started and the screen freezes I can hear the sound of the game playing in background, but the phone is totally unresponsive until reboot.
It's something related to sd storage. I've already switched to another GB based ROM. There's a thread about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132313

ICS in Note
After upgrading to ICS via kies,
Battery seems to drain very fast.
Camera hangs up sometimes and other camera related apps like Instagram also but maybe the pic quality is little better.
It seems to crash when some other apps runs too.
Not sure if it was there before but I can pause music and video if I show my palm on the screen.
The screen rotates faster than in GB with a pause at the beginning though.
News fonts are good.
Window animations are good but still dont' know how to stop it since it might be draining battery fast.
Can use Chrome now and it's fast.
I cannot use Mass Storage Mode. I recieve a "Ui stopped to work" error.
I am facing,
1. High android OS usage. Sometime its higher than Brightness, and most of the time its highest usage of batt after brightness. (I read somewhere, it said its calculation errors, but I think its not, cause my battery no longer last that long.)
2. Camera will sometimes fail to operate. I really dunno what is wrong with that.
3. Phone just cant go into deep slp. Its being kept awake by some apps (Which I cant narrow it) Using BetterBatteryStats, I found out its I2_HSIC. (Whats this I2_HSIC ??)
I am using a 5400mAh mugen batt. previously on GB, my usage can last me 24hrs, now it can only last 16hrs or less. I installed lesser apps, and lesser widgets. Disable account sync and google backup. Settings more or less kept the same.
Overnight my batt can reduce by 21%, it never happened before. lol. ICS...

I have a bug I have not seen mentioned.
Occasionally, usually about 1 time per day, My phone display will start to flash, with random green and red colors. The screen I'm on, will flash those colors then star to shake and slide.
It looks like a television station not tuned quite right on an analog antenna (if anybody remembers that!)
I can't reproduce it regularly, but It think it has happened when going from an Application, back to the home screen using the home button.
I am on ICS, Taiwan, stock, not rooted.
Anybyody else seen this?

I faced this issue with stock ICS (rooted) .
I opened the browser to html5test.com , and the screen filled up with lines (similar to a TV noise) . Turning off did not seem to work, so i did a battery pull.
Unable to reproduce the problem so far!

I can get the screen back by just waiting it out. Usually takes about 2 minutes. I sure do wish I knew what was happening, though, so I could confirm no damage was being done.

As far as #2 goes, go to your battery stats and see if "media" is listed. If so, force close it and try again. Seems to work for me. I'm not sure if it is just me or not because I have been playing with settings lately, but the media scanner tends to run wild it seems (also seems to lend to battery drain).
I am just disappointed that they left out some of the nice features of ics like the updated gallery and camera. Seems kind of lazy to me and no wonder things arent working well if they are mix and matching gingerbread and ics rather than going all in and starting development from there. I would definitely go back to using one of the non tw ics roms if it weren't for the sod issues I was having...

Indian stock Rom:
- Battery life seems to be strange as sometime drain is too high and sometime i feel it's better then it was on GB. yet to track the exact pattern but in either case no wireless, no gps, no Bluetooth and Brightness @ 10%.
- opening contacts taking few seconds but now search on exchange server is well integrated.
-i have enabled 'face unlock' and sometime it will not respond at all so keep doing lock/unlock till get restored.
.......and I am unable to find s-note application, i tried under system/app as well but as don't know apk name not sure. can someone help pls.
me too
I also got that green bands screen you describe. I held down the lock button til the phone rebooted. I think I was using the Dolphin Browser at the time.

1. Poor battery.
2. Sync errors: calendar sync freezes up every once in a while
3. Brightness slider in notification bar gone, tasker can not effect change of brightness anymore, only choice is to keep automatic brightness on, otherwise blinded out in sun.
4. Contacts and phone apps show up in 5s or more to load: need to switch to those ugly dialers, no choice at all
5. No widgets menu in app drawer as in nexus ICS
6. Launchers freezing: tried both nova and apex: many a times the screen went blank for a few seconds after hitting home (didn't crash though)
